    8in cake $70
    Connie L.

I am very satisfied with my experience here. I walked in to order their cinnamon roll cake, it was an 8in designed cake for $70. It's a steal, such a great price. A gentleman helped me, I was given a choice to choose what fruit to add in the cake. The choices was strawberry, mango and blueberries. I chose strawberry & mango. I guess all cake is white based cause I was given a choice to make it a chocolate cake. The cake was delicious. The design is so cute. Everyone at my party complimented on how cute the cake was, I couldn't agree more. My daughter was so happy, she absolutely loved it. When I came to pick up my cake, there was another cute designed cake for a grandma's bday.

Velvet Taro Egg Tarts and Earl Grey Wafer Roll
    Katie C.

Parking lot in rear. Found this spot on a whim searching Yelp when I was craving something sweet. They don't have a huge selection in store. They had only Taro Egg Tart, Portuguese Egg Tart, Crispy Floss Cake, 2 different muffins and 2 different Wafer Cake Rolls. Velvet Taro Egg Tart -not sure what I was expecting but I didn't expect to be how it was, it's unique. Bottom is layered with purple sweet rice underneath egg tart custard and topped with smashed taro. The pastry part was buttery and flakey, not too dense at all. Overall really good, not too sweet and not heavy. Great to bring as house warming sweets. Earl Grey Wafer Rolls -spongy and extremely moist. Earl grey strong but not too strong. I love early grey and cake rolls, it was right up my alley.

    Portuguese egg tarts

I decided to stop by Grace & Wheat after seeing them on Instagram, and I'm glad I did. I picked up the Portuguese egg tarts (6 for $10) and the Taro egg tarts (4 for $10). First things first: the flavor of the egg tarts is excellent. They have a really nice balance of sweetness and that classic creamy texture you look for. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the red bean inside the taro egg tart. Personally, I think the taro would shine much better with a different filling (or even just on its own) as the red bean felt a bit distracting. The shop itself was pretty empty when I visited, with only one display case of desserts out. As someone who wants to see local spots succeed, I think adding a tea or drink menu would really help round out the experience and give people a reason to linger. The desserts are definitely high-quality, so I really hope they continue to grow and fill out that space!

Original wafer roll, crispy pork floss cake, velvet taro egg tart and Portuguese egg tart

Checked out Grace & Wheat Bakery which just opened 3 weeks ago. They had about 5 items on display when I went and when speaking to the staff they said they will be releasing more soon. They have a couple chairs at the front for you to eat at. I was able to try the original/earl grey wafer rolls, crispy pork floss cake, velvet taro egg tart and regular Portuguese egg tart. All of the items were not too sweet. Original/earl grey wafer rolls: Both of the rolls were super moist and smooth. It had a thin layer of cream which was delicious. You can really taste the earl grey in the cake and cream as well. $3 a slice Crispy pork floss cake: The cake was light and airy. It had a good coating of pork floss around and the inside has a light mayonnaise cream. It was more savory than sweet. $2.50 a piece. Velvet taro egg tart: The taro paste on top was nutty and earthy. It was a bit starchy which gave it a nice texture. On the bottom is the egg tart custard which mixed well with the taro. The tart itself was super flakey and crispy. $3 a tart Portuguese egg tart: The egg tart was pretty standard. Overall it was good as the custard was smooth and the tart was flakey. $2 a tart

Hidden gem alert! Came across this new bakery on main Street and it definitely reminded me of the bakeries in Shanghai. Crispy pork floss cake was so good. I wouldn't have known there was stuffing inside if I didnt give it a try. The combo of the pork floss, moist cake and a little bit of mayo inside, such a savory cake. I've tried pork floss bun in Shanghai before and they had a similar version but with salty egg. Another pastry we had tried was the taro egg tart. It was very creamy and fulfilling. Service was great and attentive. The cashier made sure if we had any question, he was going to explain if needed. Interior seems to be in the work, there's still some empty areas to be filled with more pastries. Definitely coming back to check out what other creative tasty pastries they will have in store.

2 velvet taro egg tarts, Portuguese egg tart, and Xiao crispy pork sung cake

I saw this on TikTok and told my aunt about it so she came to get some for me today. She picked these up for me. - VELVET TARO EGG TART - GOLDEN PORTUGUESE EGG TART - XIAO FANG CRISPY FLOSS CAKE They were each pretty good, but my favorite will definitely be the velvet Toro egg tart, which is very different than the regular egg tarts I've had. I love the Taro on top but I didn't love the red bean on the inside. If those two were separate, I would like it more. The golden Portuguese egg tart was just case, I wish it was slightly sweeter, but definitely appreciated the crispy crust. I definitely did not really enjoy the Xiao fang crispy floss cake but definitely like the other two better. Definitely give this place a try if you want something a little different than your traditional egg tarts.

    Egg tarts and floss cake

I ordered the taro egg tart, Portuguese egg tart and the crispy floss cake. My personal favorite was the taro egg tart. It had taro filling and some other chewy filling inside. The egg tarts weren't too sweet which is what I enjoyed most about them. The skin is very crispy once reheated. The crispy floss cake was also delightful, it tasted like the meat floss bun bread but more buttery and bite sized. Service was good. The lady worked quickly to pack orders. They only have a few items right now but I assume they'll have more items eventually. They also sell the Napoleon Asian style fruit cake. There is no seating in the bakery, it's a grab and go. Parking is located in the back lot with other shared businesses. Will be coming back!

    Vanilla cream rolled cake
    Maria L.

This is a new bakery on Main Street. This location used to be One & One Bakery. I stopped by to get a couple items to try. I got a vanilla cream rolled cake and mung bean cake. The vanilla cream rolled cake was excellent. It was soft, moist, spongy and just the right amount of sweetness. 5/5 The mung bean cake was good but I would have preferred it to be a little bit sweeter. 4/5 Service was excellent. Friendly staff. 5/5 I will be going back soon to try other items.

I kind of little disappointed. The food that I bought is not tasty and not fresh. I expected more other choices of dessert and the bakery is not much choice for sale. The food is so cold and it sit there for long time.

Parking. We parked on the street (were able to find a spot on Main St). Service. It was alright. The cashier got what we wanted in terms of getting the pastries/cakes, but he seemed dull/reserved/wooden. Maybe he was going for the stoic look. Anyways... Pastries & cakes were generally good. Would go back. Verdict: Taro Egg Tart 4.5/5 $3/ea or $10 for 4pcs One of the top choices for me. Would get this one over the Portuguese Egg Tart. Earl Grey Wafer Roll 4.25/5 $3/slice. $12 for 4pcs. $16 for 6 pcs Liked it. The earl grey wasn't overwhelming. Xiao Bei Crispy Floss Cake 4/5 $2.5/ea or $10 for 5pcs Fairly salty n savory (literally). Original Egg Wafer Roll Portuguese Egg Tart 3.9/5 $2/ea or $10 for 6pcs Good, but not great. Probably should have heat these up.

Cake is delicious. Moist and not too sweet.

Their cake roll (the original flavor) is BOMB. Omg so good, is the best cake roll ever. I ordered 2 customized birthday cakes, and they're both amazing. I gave them the picture and they made it exactly how I wanted. And they taste very good - not too sweet. Cake is moist, cream is very lightweight and fresh. They have so many fillings (fruits, cookies, etc) to choose from One of the cake was crushed while I was driving home - not the shop's fault at all. But the owner happily offered to fix it with no cost! Amazing service. 10/10 recommend. This place deserves 4.5+ stars overall

The hours are a bit limited, but I managed to make it in time to grab some pre-made baked goods to go. I got a bag of coconut macaroons, bag of several chocolate chip cookies, 2 red velvet cookies, a baked dog cookie biscuit, and a cute Keroppi sugar cookie. Most of these ended up being gifts, but I did enjoy one of the red velvet cookies and for an already sweet flavor profile with white chocolate chips in it, I was already fearing the worse, but went perfect with a glass of milk. The edges were nicely crisped by the baking too. Delicious. Love that they had a stock of cute, pre-decorated cookies available as well (some Sanrio characters, animals, etc.) They also list all the ingredients used in each of the baked goods that they have prepackaged, which is nice. It's also a cafe where you can order drinks, as well as a place you can order cakes custom order or what they have behind the glass already. There's both seating inside and outside.

There's a small parking lot in the back, but spaces can be hard to find and I ended up having to park on the street the first time I went. (FYI - they are going to open a Goomo tea shop on the corner in the same space!) D'ange has so many fun flavors of buns. I really liked the taro with mochi one. The only thing about the buns is that the fillings tend to be only on one side of the bun, so there are been times as I'm biting into the bun, I'm not getting any filling until the last couple bites. They even sell cookies and all different flavors of toast that would make some yummy brick toast desserts! And if you need a whole cake, they have them in the case ready to go too! The buns I got were great, as were the Portuguese egg tarts. They even sold Chinese tamales at my last visit, so I picked one up too. I don't know many places that sell these, and I used to eat them all the time when my grandma made them years ago, but now that no one in my family knows how to make them, it's a special treat if I can find it. They have ones with meat (with or without peanuts), and some with just the mung bean. They must be really know for this because 2 other parties ahead of me were buying tons of the tamales!

The owner (I presume) handed us a prepackaged brown bag the moment we got there. It wasn't busy at all so the whole transaction was under 5 minutes. It's a mom & pop Asian bakery that's spacious and warm. Our surprise bag contained 7 mini breads: black sesame mochi, red sesame mochi, taro bun with filling, hot dog cheese bread, buo luo bao, ham + cheese bun, and another bread I couldn't quite identify. This is $21 value for $6.99 is what we paid. After heating them up, they tasted almost like fresh so we can't complain. Its a small shop on Main in Alhambra and there's a lot in the back as well as street parking. It's a brightly lit, pick up and go type place though there are a couple tables out front. The baked goods look really cute and enticing and I ended up going for a mystery box since I wasn't after a specific cake and the mystery aspect seemed appealing. I also got 6 egg tarts, which were a great price at $1 each. The baked goods/sweets looked better than they tasted flr me. The egg tarts had a texture that was a bit off putting for myself, it was more of a steamed egg texture than a silky custardy filling. Flavorwise, they were ok though. The mystery box was fun and I got an apple cake, peach cake, and a panda cake. Now the mystery box is day old cakes so keeping that in mind, they are like cream based "cakes" and are essentially cream covered gels/jellies of some sort. The flavor and textures were good, very light cream with strong fruit flavors (the panda was also a peach flavor, I think). As a set of the mystery box price, I think the cakes are fun to try but I wouldn't, personally, pay those prices for essentially shaped cream. I'm glad I tried a new spot but ultimately don't think it was super impressive and found most of their desserts and baked items to be average, or a little less so as for the egg tarts.
