Very excited to see this new location open across the street from my office. My bank account is less than enthused, but we generally disagree when it comes to good food. A note on timing: I arrived at 12pm, ordered at 12:15, and was walking out the door with my food at 12:44. Call your order in to save time, unless you're okay with spending your entire lunch break there. I've never had a bad taco here so feel free to order around the menu fearlessly. I'm not a vegetarian but order the Papadulce fairly often. There's just something about grilled sweet potatoes that make my tastebuds oh so happy. When it comes to breakfast, all hail to the Mexican mashed potatoes (papas) in your tacos. Yes, you read that correctly: mashed potatoes in your tacos. I love Tacodeli and its employees so this pains me to write a negative review. The Westlake location has become very dirty and does not seem well managed. Women's restroom is a mess and yet employees are standing around talking. My call-in orders are incomplete, no apology is given for the delay while I have to check and ask to make it right. The whole point of call-in is to save time but this is causing wasted time and irritation: mine. Employees eating while standing in the hallway to the restroom--really?! Gross. Can't they sit down? There are plenty of seats. And the visual of this due to the location of the kitchen to the bathroom makes me lose my appetite. I either will need to eat at another location not by my home or find another breakfast/lunch place. read more

Carne Asada is a winner. El Picosito was good, maybe a bit too much sauce/marinade on the meat. Ceviche Yucatan was good, a bit too spicy for me though. The guacamole is delicious! I read from these yelp reviews that I should try the salsas. So I tried each one. Salsa dona was my favorite, very tasty. Salsa roja comes next. Salsa verde was ok, good but nothing special. Salsa habanero had a sweet/sour tang to it, good but I don't need the super spicy. I can't wait to go back and try more. =) read more

There are so many good taco places these days; torchy, fuzzys, but Taco Deli trumps it all in the taco category. They at one point trumped in the soup category, before they took my favorite off the menu. RIP sweet potato soup. Their daily specials rock, if you even remotely like scallops go on a Thursday as that is the special of the day. Side note; lunch time can get crazy so I like to call ahead. I love Tacodeli! Their meat is perfectly seasoned and cooked. I get a very basic taco: potato and sirloin, but even though it's plain, the flavor is all there. The cowboy taco is one of my favorites and for salad I love the ensalada Tacodeli with sirloin and garlic lime vinaigrette. The rota salsa is the best, in my opinion; it is on the spicier side, but if you can handle spicy, definitely give it a try. Lunch hour at this location is super busy! Inside and out; the parking lot gets frustrating. If you're willing to walk a bit, park by the bank and walk; then you don't have to worry about waiting for a spot, hitting a car, or a person. You'll see what I mean if you decide to go for lunch. I recommend calling in your order; it's always faster than going in and ordering. Especially when it's busy. Overall I 10/10 recommend coming here! read more

The lines were long and it was pretty hectic inside. We ordered several tacos for my family - nearly all of which were good. I had the conquistador (pork) and enjoyed it very much. I just felt that their chili con queso was extremely runny - flavor was decent but it just was not enjoyable to have it drip everywhere and having to eat so many chips. I recognize thats its a business and they stretch where they can, but it was embarassingly thin for such a highly rated place. We also ordered the kids quesadillas with chicken - I've ordered this exact meal at probably 50+ restaurants for my kids and theirs was probably the smallest portion that I've seen - it was only $3.50, so perhaps I didnt realize - but it would probably only fill up an average 3-4 year old child. So we went back to order more - just saying they were very small. read more

Very similar to Torchy's the usual rival for taco spots in Austin. I personally think Torchy's fills me up a bit more there I usually get 1 taco and am satisfied but here you need 2 for sure but Tacodeli's flavor combinations are superior hands down. They have way more Vegetarian options that are easily made vegan. I came for breakfast which mostly has eggs as the base for the tacos but they were kind enough to modify their space cowboy taco into a breakfast option as well as have the freakin vegan and ff portobello available before 11. $8 breakfast definitely isn't bad. There was plenty of parking and quick for dine in. Less than ten minute wait for food even though it was packed. read more

These are the most delicious tacos I've had in Austin (better than Torchy's in my opinion!) This location closes at 3PM, which is a bummer, but these tacos are worth booking it at 2:45. There is a huge lunch-time rush, so its not the place to go if you're in a hurry, but despite the rush they get through orders really quickly! You can call your order in ahead, so that may help expedite your order. The decor is very colorful and creative. Plenty of vegetarian options and choice of fish, beef, poultry and pork. This place is overrated. And a rip-off. And the employees are rude and not of good nature. I've broughten my sister's here a few times and we felt VERY uncomfortable. For one the register person continuously stared at us the entire time as we ate our food. A few employees even laughed after he got our order wrong three times. I'm sorry but I missed the joke. It was as if everyone at that place had been under the influence of something which made me feel very unsafe. And the fact that they got the order completely wrong was very unprofessional. And the staff pretty much let him stare at us creepily the entire time which made me feel very uncomfortable. And as soon as the register guy stopped starring at us we got our things and left. This place and the men there are not of good nature. Be aware. And stay safe. Make tacos at home - Covid-19 no telling what else they might have at this place. But I am about my health and good energy. And I do not feel safe in such the environment. Thankfully I have family. But just be aware that we left before they could even try anything at all with me and my sisters! ENJOY IT. I would recommend other venue's. Maybe where there is both men and women working. I've been to this location five times and three out of those five times they have gotten my order wrong. My first experience was absolutely great. And obviously the other few times I went they continuously got the order wrong. I order the same three tacos at every location and the other locations there seems to be never a problem with the order. So I'm not sure if it's specifically the kitchen staff at this location why my order was not made right or the register who rushedly and carelessly is always in a hurry which is why my order has gotten made incorrectly multiple times. But as far as my last experience at this location, the register did seem to be high and or on drugs and again was in a rapid hurry. I assumed they were high which is why they couldn't get the order correct and why it once again came out wrong. But when I asked to speak to the manager things became very interesting after that. In an aggressive tone they asked me if there was a problem. So to speak I did have to be the bearer of bad news considering the register was very rude and didn't even greet me as a customer but in a rushed angry tone asked me what the order was going to be. So I assumed they must be high on drugs which is why the order came out wrong. When I spoke to the manager the order happened to be wrong they angrily asked for a receipt and also spoke agresssively. So at this point I already knew that this location is not so welcoming than the others and that I would not return. The energy from the staff was displaced out of sincerity. Conciously or unconsciously the register seemed to be very intoxicated and vacant and under the influence or alcohol and or drugs. My mornings are the best part of my day to be expected so it was my mistake to have assumed with pleasure that this venue could be capable of doing so though once was. Overall I disliked the result of my experience. Breakfast should be a joy always. So I would selectively suggest other locations. The down town location is lovely! Optional approach? Tacodeli is THE place to go for breakfast tacos, particularly if you are vegetarian and/or gluten-free. By far, they have the best vegetables, salsas, grilled corn, corn tortillas, etc.... My favorite morning tacos are the Vaquero and the Migas, and my favorite lunch taco is the Space Cowboy. Try their salsa verde. The coffee is also very good, and the staff is always very pleasant. I'm a native, but this is also the place my out-of-town visitors always request. read more

I love Tacodeli for breakfast tacos and lunch taco salads! I have been here a handful of times, the employees are VERY friendly, the store is fast and the food is delicious! It's a good place for tacos that are not greasy and leave you feeling grossly full. Instead the ingredients are light and tasty! They have special tacos each day which is nice if you want to change it up. I got the Ensalada Avocado and it had an entire avocado along with a ton of other ingredients, they did not skimp! We also got the Roberto's queso to share and the meat was very flavorful in it. I would highly recommend this store if you're looking for a great taco for a good price! Not only does this place offer the best tacos in our neighborhood, some say their tacos are the best in Austin and in Texas. Granted, you probably won't find authentic taco el pastor here, but you won't be disappointed with their custom creations. Oh my gosh. I love this place. the food is always so good. The have quality ingredients and their chips are GMO free. I love that!! If you like hot salsa, try the Dona sauce. It's hot but it's so good. Like someone else said, the tacos are getting more expensive but the quality of the food to me is worth it. They also have great customer service. My first time here today and i just loved the taco. They have so many vegetarian options, unlike other places. I ordered the heather, it was just great, especially the grilled cheese! Also had the mexican potato, was good. Tried the watermelon agua frescas, was very refreshing :) :) would definitely be back! Very busy on a friday lunch, so have time!
