    Crossroads beef tacos
    Jordan W.

So, I'm from southern CA, here on business. I LOVE tacos. Like, I'd eat tacos every meal and I'd be just fine with that. Got into town a bit late and wanted something quick. Didn't look up Torchy's, just happened to see it near my hotel. These are not authentic Mexican food. But that's, ok. They were still good tacos. I ordered the Crossroad taco (x2, pic uploaded). The meat was a bit dry but they were flavorful and the jalapeño combined with cilantro/onion was a good mix of heat/cool in every bite. They were fast too. I only waited about 4min for them to be brought out. One downside, they have A LOT of options. I've found with si many choices, it can be hard for the restaurant to really get close to perfection because they're trying too many things. Cut the menu in half, focus on flavor, tender/moist meat, and you have yourself a really great taco. Vibe was chill. Pretty slow since it was about 9p and well after any kid of dinner rush. But the restaurant was clean and well lit. Self service drinks like most fast food spots. Overall, I've had better tacos but I would eat here again since they did a good job.

I ordered to go at the counter and was surprised to have my food order of $33.66 have a 19.5% service charge of $6.56. Not sure what hidden service fee was calculated at almost 20 percent but I'm positive I didn't get it! Won't be going back

One of my favorite taco places when I visit TX. The consistency from each location is spot on (never a bad experience) and the staff is very friendly at this particular location. Highly recommend the chips and salsa as an appetizer and churros for dessert!

    Tokyo Drift daily/weekly special

For a chain restaurant, Torchy's delivers on great flavor combinations, fresh food, fast service, and satisfaction. We ate here with our nephew who works nearby, and he treated. We had the daily special "Tokyo Drift" which was delicious, as well as a variety of pork, chicken, beef and veggie tacos. We also had a couple orders of queso with chips. Food overall was very tasty, and really did not have the taint of greasiness usually associated with these kinds of chains. It was our first time and won't be our last!

Wasn't expecting this place to be as good as it was. It was recommended by an Uber driver, and like it says on the sign, they were 'damn good'. We had the Trailer Park, Crossroads, Brushfire, and Baja Shrimp. The Baja shrimp was my favorite - very crispy but not too much batter. Very delicious when topped with the Chipotle sauce. My partner really enjoyed the brisket in the Crossroads taco and the poblano sauce. Good salty meal after the Museum of Ice Cream.

Food was tasty and came out fast. It is definitely one of the better tasting tacos around town. This branch is located in a nice shopping center. So it's convenient for grabbing some eats and shopping afterwards or vice versa.

    Taco with no cheese

This is the second time I've ordered and PAID FOR extra cheese on my tacos....only to come home and find NO cheese on my tacos!!! WTH! What is so difficult about this???

Torchy's is an Austin icon. I remember when they were a food truck. Its still good but there is ALOT of other competitors now in Austin. torchy's has also expanded far and wide and my experience is hit or miss. I had the brisket and shrimp tacos. They were fine but everything a bit dry and a bit too heavy.

    Should Read Average Good
    Chris B.

Tacos are average! Tried to sit outside, but all the tables had ants. Service wasn't good. Asked for something, and never received it! Too many good taco options in Austin, should've gone to Veracruz tacos instead.

    Dan C.

Tacos with a side of fun... Torchy's certainly isn't boring, nor is it for traditionalists, but there is a place for it in the hearts of many. Whether breakfast or all-day tacos, there's something for everyone. The hillbilly queso is always an extra treat that's hard to ever pass on. This location has both indoor/outdoor seating, and plenty of parking.

As the sign says, "No Ticket, No Taco!" so don't lose it. Seating is limited and the line can get long, but they move fast. And don't come expecting cheese or sour cream -- the only add‑ons here are cilantro, onions, salsa, and guacamole. It's a stripped‑down menu, and they stick to it. The tacos are solid. The beef isn't anything remarkable, but the chicken is tender, moist, and genuinely flavorful. The quesadilla is the sleeper hit; the baked cheese gives it a deep, savory punch that outshines the tacos. The chicken was shredded and could've used a little more seasoning for my taste. I'm also not a huge fan of lettuce in a burrito, so that may have played a part in it not being my favorite. Sixth Street's neon and noise are basically next door, the Capitol sits up the hill, and the whole area is packed with people, bars, and that classic Austin mix of polished downtown hustle and late-night chaos. Velvet Taco is pure counter-service: you walk right up, order at the register, and then grab a seat. There's plenty of seating, so even with a couple of kids in tow it was no problem finding a spot. The place leans hard into what can only be called white-people tacos--soft, sad flour tortillas that taste like they came straight out of a grocery-store package, loaded with every wild creation the kitchen can invent. Global mashups, brunch hybrids, burger impostors, the works. No one is pretending these are the real deal. I went for the chicken-and-waffles taco, which was actually built on a thin, real waffle instead of a tortilla. Surprisingly good--crispy, a little sweet, chicken holding its own. The burger taco tasted exactly like a cheeseburger that had wandered into a tortilla and decided to stay. We also tried the shrimp taco (fine), one daughter got the kids' chicken taco (perfectly kid-level), and the other ordered the chicken tikka (spicy, saucy, and very much in the "why is this on a tortilla?" category). Everything was okay. Comparable to Torchy's in that same creative-American-taco lane. If you're looking for a true Mexican taco, stay far away. But if you just want to play around with some decent flavors on a cheap flour store-bought tortilla while sitting in the middle of downtown Austin, this is your spot. Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. Won't be back.

I ordered 4 tacos: the migas, migas poblano, shrimp macha (!!), and the Dona Reyna tacos. All of these specific tacos were priced between $6 and $6.75 per taco, not bad in Austin, and not bad considering the quality of said tacos. As you can see from my order, I opted on the more "novel" choices and they did not disappoint; that said, I do HIGHLY recommend the two variations of the migas taco and the shrimp macha taco. Oh, the shrimp macha was so FIRE, the flavors were bold and smoky with a kiss of heat. The migas tacos were FULLY LOADED, and the scramble with the tortilla chips were flavorul.
