They did have sauces you could add on and I wish I had done that to put on my meal. Beware when ordering online on toast, all of the tortas come with ham which is not listed anywhere on the ordering page not even the option to remove it (it is listed on the sandwich board outside). Fortunately, they made it right for us and quickly remade the torta since I don't eat pork. The prices are high but the portions are generous. We also ordered the barbacoa nachos (delicious) and were pleased to have the queso packaged on the side. The tiny side of salsa they give with the entrees is far too small for the amount of food purchased, so I would recommend that you add a salsa to your order if you are like me and want salsa on every bite. The creamy Serrano is my favorite but the salsa roja had a really good flavor as well. This is not a place that I would specifically drive to, but a great option when spending a little time at Meanwhile brewery! read more

First-It's rich the St Elmo location isn't even listed as an option here. Part of my problem is with them being unclear it is at the brewery, not the district. I ordered online and when I saw I placed an order 1/2 an hour away from me I called immediately to try to have them not make it so I could go to a closer location. Nobody answered and when they finally did, order was ready 5 mins ahead of time a they refused to accommodate. VERY annoying. Then after driving almost an hour round trip out of my way to pick up my food-THERE WAS LETTUCE IN THE BURRITO. Lettuce not listed as an ingredient or I would've asked them to leave it off/ordered something else. I emailed to let them know how disappointed I was with the entire experience and nothing. Went there on the Labor Day (thanks for being open, Pueblo Viejo). Long line, but it moved pretty fast! I ordered my usual favorite, Taco Bueno and Taco Nes. Both were delicious, consistent as other locations I've tried. Their ghost habanero salsa elevated my tacos to next level. We went here this morning in search of breakfast for my toddler who was starving. The website says they're open at 8am on Saturday as does Google. I was even able to place an order online through their website for pickup at 8:15. When we got there, we found out they don't open until 9 so we had to go somewhere else so we could feed our kid. I asked the lady there if she would cancel my order and she reluctantly said she will but never did. No one even answers the phone here. It's very unethical to defraud your customers of money. My wife and I were in Austin for a long weekend and i ordered the fish tacos and al pastor taco. The fish taco was one of the best grilled fish tacos I have ever had. It was ready in about 5 minutes but their salsas were weird. They were more like dressings instead of salsa. The ghost was spicy, but not crazy hot and I like the jalapeno. The chips and guac looked great as well. I didn't try them, but it looked fantastic! The atmosphere of the brewery was wonderful and during COVID, the outdoor seating was huge. Meat had good texture but severely lacked in flavor. Place is super skimpy on chips. The rice they used for the Mexican rice was off. However, the location at Meanwhile Brewing left me with an unpleasant experience due to the lack of customer service. I've visited twice - first time service was great, food was hot and consistent with other locations. Second visit - I was completely ignored by the staff. When I attempted to make an order, the staff member sitting in front of the window completely ignored me. I never want to be the person to bang on a food truck window, so I just stood there waiting, nothing. I said "Hello, are you open?" Ignored. "Hello?" Feeling awkward, I checked their truck signage to make sure they were open: they were. I checked online - also marked open. Great, guess I'll go to the neighboring food trucks who actually serve customers. Unfortunate experience. I've had Pueblo Viejo at different locations through the city over the last 10 years so and I was delighted to see them pop up at Meanwhile. Lately I'm loving the Quesadilla tacos and chips and queso. It's been my go to order for several weeks now. They are open early for breakfast tacos as well, which I'd recommend trying. Their selection of hot sauces is impressive too. If tacos aren't your thing, no worries, they offer all kinds of other Tex Mex plates to choose from and it's all good! Tacos were decent. Not the best in town. Salsas are delicious. A good spot at meanwhile brewery. But if there is any line, don't bother. This truck is unorganized and not well managed. I ordered online and received a text with the order number stating that my order would be complete at xx:xx time. I arrived at that time. I then had to wait in a second line to get my order. When I got to the front, they had no record of my order. The order number literally meant nothing to them. They eventually found my order after another 10 minutes. She said they were overwhelmed. I can understand that, but then are you still taking new orders..and money? If you are overwhelmed? Long story short, I received my food 30 minutes after the promised time. This was our second time visiting the Pueblo Viejo truck at Meanwhile when we were there with friends on Saturday night. The food is decent, but it's an organizational shitshow. We've tried the guac and salsa, both great, but the queso is just pure melted Velveeta and absolutely nothing else. Tried the fish taco this time and one of the meat ones last time--again, both solid, no complaints. The Mexican salad (added sautéed veggies) was surprisingly good all things considered and our whole family (and a couple friends) enjoyed the quesadilla plate. Prices are a little high, but the value is there. Honestly, we would have been happy to have given this place four stars, but the service is complete chaos. There was no confirmation text once you put your order in and after over 30 minutes of not hearing anything, we went there to find our food just sitting out. It was completely unprofessional as it seems like there is no system whatsoever here. We'll likely go for the pizza or BBQ place next time since we really did not appreciate the business model at this truck--hopefully they'll get their act together at some point. read more

I'd post a picture of the burrito but I already ate it. They are consistently consistent in quality and service. The pricing seems high for what I get. The flavors remind me of my grandma's cooking. I miss her. She only spoke Spanish and I at the time only English. I felt like she loved me but I never knew if she said it. I know I said it to her. I hope she knows how I felt. I learned Spanish later in life so I never miss out on an opportunity to express how I feel. The world is smaller when you learn other languages and culture. I wish it was smaller sooner but at least I have the burrito from Pueblo Viejo. read more

Quite possibly Austin's lamest taco truck. They get customers because of their attachment to the popular Meanwhile Brewing, which provides a captive audience. But the results are grim. When Pueblo Viejo runs out of stuff, they don't indicate it on their menu, so after you've waited in line for half an hour while they screw up someone else's order, you get to the front and find out your whole order is now messed up and then you waste more time for more people. Worst flour tortillas I've ever had (only ordered it because they ran out of corn...), like eating a rubber drain stopper or something. The chips and queso might as well come from HEB, and I guess they probably do. The veggie tacos and taco nes couldn't have sucked more. Just bland, bland, bland. The Pueblo Viejo taco had no flavor, only ridiculously excessive spiciness. (I like spicy food, but there's more to life than heat.) Pissy service, too. Why not at least tell people up front that you're out of stuff, rather than snap at them every time they attempt to order something you don't have? I like Meanwhile, so I hope they kick out Pueblo Viejo soon and bring in something decent to replace it. read more
