I've been hanging out in Surrey a lot more recently. So my bf took me to his favorite sushi spot. I was a bit skeptical by the name at first, but I was very happy with the sushi I tried. I ordered a spicy tuna crunch roll and chopped scallop roll and I believe my bf ordered a special yam roll and sunset roll. I also had salmon sashimi when I was there and each slice was nice and thick. The service was also very good at the restaurant. I can't wait to come back with I'm in the area. :) read more

I wanted to find a sushi place somewhat close to me that also had dine-in service. This was one of the choices I hadn't been to AND am I ever glad I did. They serve Oshi!!! I haven't had Oshi in a couple if years as I didn't think any restaurants had it on their menus so as soon as I saw it, I had to have it. I decided on the bento box that came with gyoza, chicken karaage, sashimi, nigiri, miso, salad and my oshi! It seems like a lot but it was the perfect amount of everything. It all tasted fantastic. Came across this place when I was driving by the area and I am glad I did! Lots of options on the menu. We went for the popcorn and midnight sun roll along with mixed tempura. Rolls are bigger than I expected. Tempura wasn't too greasy. Very nice servers and great prices. read more

Sushi Topia is my girlfriend's favorite local sushi joint when she visits Canada. This is mainly because it's literally right behind her friend's condo and within walking distance. Given we needed to meet up with said friend, I was willing to give Sushi Topia a shot. Ordered one of the sashimi plates and dragon roll on offer. The sashimi cuts were the basic ones as expected (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail) with a few surprises. I liked how big the cuts were, but they were just a bit too cold...cold enough that they felt like they were taken out of the freezer and barely defrosted. Dragon roll was fine, I'm glad I asked for the unagi sauce on the side because it would've been too much. Service was solid, no complaints here. Pay up front when you're done. Sushi Topia is good enough to be a local sushi joint, but not a place I'd clamor to go to if I'm spending limited time in Canada. read more

Not bad. A client of mine was so sweet and bought me a pink roll to eat before class. For korean sushi, this was pretty good! I went here today with a consultant of mine and ate inside. When we got there, they just opened. The lady forgot our menu and the bathroom lights were still off. I was slightly confused as I believe our server spoke in japanese when this is a korean style sushi place. We ordered the sashimi sushi combo and lunch special roll both at 13.99. Sashimi Sushi combo. Comes with salad, daily special, fruit, tempura sashimi and nigiri sushi. This was massive. Lunch special roll. Comes with your choice of soup or salad, special roll and a side dish. I chose gyoza as the side dish and the hot night roll for their specialty roll. They deep fry their gyoza, im not a fan of deep fried gyoza. I will definetly come back and try more rolls. read more

I've gone to Sushi Topia at least once a month for the past several years (sometimes biweekly). It used to be my go-to place for simple, no-frills sushi with decent prices and favourable service. However, the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly recently, while the prices have been increasing steadily. I ordered the Lunch Special Roll today and my disappointment is off the charts. 1. The tempura sauce does not smell or taste at all like what it's supposed to. In fact, it has a distinct bitter flavour, similar to Chinese medicine. 2. The size of the special roll is much smaller, coming in the small square box as opposed to the larger rectangular box it used to come in. 3. The Lunch Special Roll used to be $11.99, and it is now $13.99. This experience has been truly terrible. I won't be visiting this establishment again. read more

We go here because it's close by our residence and the food is "good enough" for us to keep going back, mainly due to the convenience. They have similar prices to Akari which is just down the road, but their quality is not as good. Their service is always good if you eat in. Even ordering take out, the staff always prepare your meals very neatly and the food itself isn't just thrown inside of a take out container. It's well placed so when you get home its still in tact. My complaint is the price and quality for what you get. Just doesn't match up. You get a lot of food when ordering their dinner specials. I used to go to Umami Sushi as I lived out in Langley and they have similar quality but much cheaper prices. ..just my 2 cents. read more

So good! Great sushi. Sometimes the fish doesn't smell wildly fresh, but that's super rare, and we eat here all the damn time. Everything else about this place makes up for it. The yam yam crunch roll is the bomb. They do a fantastic goma ae and agedashi tofu. These are generally my benchmarks for a great Japanese restaurant, and they nail them. The black rice isn't very good, so I'd skip it, and save yourself a few bucks. read more

I'd give this place a solid 2.5 stars I'm gonna start off with the good and finish with the bad. My experience in the restaurant was great, everyone had a smile, and the decor is very modern and has a refreshing enviorment. But of course a restaurant is mainly judged by it's food, and unfortunately I have to say it did not do so well. I started off with the chicken karage and a side of salad, I liked the seasoning on the chicken karage but the chicken pieces just consisted of chicken skin and mainly fat, and the sauce that came with the karage had this sweet cinnamon almost oatmeal like flavour that really was unnessecary and a big turn off, the salad was not really put together with care, the mixed greens were wilting and looked like they were on the point of going bad, but the worst part wasn't the greens it was the sauce that looked like that was just spat on to my dish, I'm not sure if the sauce was supposed to be really thick and just taste unpleasant but to describe it, it looked like a puree of beans and All Bran flakes and that sort of even describes the taste. So anyways for my main course, The Tiger Roll, there was nothing paticularly dissatisfiying with it, its just that with a pretty steep price tag of over 10 dollars including tax, I expected alot more from a "Special Roll" and the flavours were just dry and the tempura prawn tasted like it was fried in the morning. All in all, to sum up my review the food was not up to par with the price, I might give Sushi Topia another visit but my advice is if you want the best bang for your buck there are plenty of japanese restaurants along scott road or even right across the street! read more

This is actually a 2.5 star review. We popped in for a quick snack. The restaurant is small, cute and well kept. The waitress was very friendly and service was quick. The tea was the best I've ever had!!! As for the food, our miso soup was Luke warm and the yam roll was completely undercooked. I'd give it another try but first impression wasn't stellar. read more

Came in here extremely hungry after a Boxing Day shopping trip. Overall: This place is great! Although, I think it's too bad that they're kinda hidden from the streets unless you drive in to the complex. Ordered the Beef Teriyaki Lunch Bento. For $9.95, it comes with quite a bit of food! There were: beef teriyaki upon a bed of lettuce stirfry, 1 gyoza, shrimp & veggie tempura, salad, and 2 sliced pieces of tangerines. In terms of portion, definitely felt like I got my money's worth. Also, the menu says "Miso soup and rice upon request" - I had initially thought that this would require me to pay extra, but it didn't! It just comes with the bento, which was a nice surprise. One thing I do wish they'd improve on though: Please get bigger cups. We were given a cast iron pot of tea and 3 teeny tiny accompanying saucer-like cups that fit less than 3 sips of tea. I got pretty thirsty while eating the tempura, and I wish I didn't have to pour myself tea every few minutes. This is a really small thing though - everything else, including service, was great. I'd definitely recommend checking out Sushi Topia when you're hunkering for some Japanese food in Delta. read more

I regularly come here once a week with my boyfriend. I am limited to what I eat because of an accident with my head. I usually order a salad with real crab and salmon. My boyfriend and I had a long day with work and had been packing for our new place. We called for takeout. I went to go and pick up the order at the restaurant. I confirmed with the server of my order and found out she made a mistake. My order had spicy sauce in it and smoke salmon. I told her I can't eat those so I order mango roll because that was my only option. As I waited for my order to be done. I heard the chef and the two servers talking in korean and I felt a very negative vibe from them. The chef weren't happy that I changed my order and had me waited an extra 20 minutes for a roll that could have taken a few minutes to finish. I was okay with it until the server who took my order asked me if I could pay for the salad that had spice in it because the salad is expensive. I told her I can't have anything that have spice and smoke salmon which has loads of preservative in it. I said if I could eat it I would pay but I can't have them so it would have been a waste. I paid for my order and notice the server didn't inform me of other charges. She charged me extra for real crabs on all the orders. I only asked for only real crabs on my salad. When the chef was done preparing the foods, the other server who is a long time waitress at the restaurant brought me my order and asked me why I didn't take the salad with the spice in it. I told her the same thing "I can't have spice". She told me the salad was expensive and she tried to get me to pay for it. I said I can't eat it. She then she told me not to do it again. At the end I was blamed for an order the server made a mistake on. I was a regular customer always ordering the same thing and the blame was put on me. I believed they must have a long hard day and kind of put the stress on me as it was almost the end of their closing time. Plus, the new server had a very thick accent and it was hard talking to her as this could have been a mistake with my order. Still, at the end they should not put the blame on the customer. I told the server that I will never come back as this was a very unpleasant experience. read more

Drop by here every time I have a dentist appointment (next door) and either pick up the lunch bento box or beef/chicken teriyaki on rice. Place is clean and tastefully decorated and the staff is friendly and attentive. Now the food - so far I've been extremely satisfied with the taste. I love the way they do their tempura - crisp, light batter that's not too oily and the accompanying sauce is perfect - not too salty, it's so good I end up pouring it on my rice! The chicken and beef teriyaki is also authentic and prepared very well. My husband and I are regular sushi eaters. Having moved to North Delta, we're looking for new go-to places for Japanese food. The food is solid. The ebi sunomono, BC roll, avocado roll, and salmon sashimi were all super fresh and tasty. The batter they used for the prawn and yam tempura was a touch sweeter than what we're accustomed to, but this wasn't a bad thing. Just different. The tempura arrived hot, and crunchy. We received a nice taster plate courtesy of the chef, which was a nice touch. The service was casual and friendly, and we really appreciated a quick visit from the chef. We learned when paying the bill that the chef and a few of their servers come from the popular Akari restaurant in Delta, and are also the new owners of the business, which they bought about a year and a half ago. If you're in the neighbourhood, give them a try. They're a local business trying hard to shake off the negative perceptions its predecessors left with customers. read more

I waited more than 30 minutes to receive my order: 1 wild salmon roll, and spicy sashimi - 4 pieces about 1/2" x 1/2", and 2 salmon sushi. The salmon didn't taste fresh and the charge for the above: $17.31 with NO TIP. I won't be going back to this below average place. read more

I had a sushi craving and decided to try out Sushi Topia. We ordered the vegetable combo as well as the vegetarian dinner special. I asked the server whether there's fish flakes on the agedashi tofu that came with the dinner special, and he said they can take it out. If you haven't guessed it already, my brother and I are vegetarian. The food was really good, but what killed it was the customer service they provided. The waiter did not seem like he wanted to be there. Not once did the waiter come ask us how the food was, except at the end while they were cleaning up our plates. Before we asked for our bill, the waiter came out with something extra (said it was a chef special). He mentioned something tempura. I confirmed with him there's no fish flakes, and he said it was just parsley and sesame seed on top of the tempura. I took a bite and realized the inside did NOT look vegetarian. I asked for the waiter again and asked what it was, and he said it was ____ tempura (forgot the name). I asked whether it's vegetarian, and he said it's a type of fish. = = I really don't know what to say. It's nice that the chef offered it to us, but honestly, if you're the server, and had a customer order ONLY vegetarian options and asked if there were fish flakes in the dishes, wouldn't you automatically assume that they are vegetarian? I still feel sick from taking a bite out of that tempura. I can't imagine what I'll be like if I actually chewed and swallowed it. Would give the food a 4/5 but the experience and customer service I received from the waiter made it a 1-star. read more

Terrible service at this restaurant. Considering there were 4 chefs and 3 waitresses for 8 tables, it was awfully slow. I came in with my daughter to order for take out. I was told it would take 30 mins and to take a seat. Upon waiting I watched the staff get very disorientated and customers leaving while the staff was apologizing. I wasn't sure what for. But I remained patient and waited. Several take out orders came and went and the tables (8) were not really being attended to. After 30 mins I asked how much long for our food and watched them scramble to find my order. Then I hear them saying that the kamikaze roll was suppose to have spicy sauce so the chef squirts spicy sauce all over it. Upon arriving home I open it to find the sauce got all my kids avocado/cucumber roll and dynamite roll!! They were starving and were only able to eat half. The tempura in the kamikaze roll was burnt and hard as a rock and falling apart. I had also asked if the salmon that was served was wild and not farmed and they assured me it was wild. It was not!! The rice was super cold and the unagi piece was ice cold. I'll never go here again. I should have known better with a name as Sushi Topia but I thought I would give it a try.
