This place is on a cute block in Bexley. As many other reviews have said the place is TINY, really only good for groups of 2, no more. There are a few 2-tops and a long counter and that is pretty much all the seating. The staff is INCREDIBLY friendly - answers all questions and follows up without being in your face or overbearing. The food is pretty good - standard diner fare. Nothing to write home about. I enjoyed my omelette and my fiance enjoyed his burger. Neither of us were blown away, but neither of us had anything to complain about. Overall, I think it was a fun, pleasant experience and we'll be back if we're in the area. read more

One of my favorite diner's on the East side. Food and service is consistently on point. I've tried and enjoyed the feta and spinach omelette, pancakes, and biscuits smothered in gravy. We came here early afternoon for a quick late breakfast. Pulling up there is very little parking in the front and a little bit more in the back. We came in the women who took our order was very friendly and nice but was not wearing a mask. The cook had a mask hanging around his neck wasn't on . They have a sign on the door requiring masks, but they did not enforce it. It seemed everyone who came in was a regular and they also did not wear masks and they did not enforce it. We ordered our food and it tasted good. It was given to us in to to go boxes when we said we were dining in, which made it difficult to eat at the tiny tables. It is a very small diner there is a L shaped bar and one row of tiny tables on the outside . After tip we paid about $30 for 2 slices of French toast , 2 sides of hash browns , a side of patties, a couple pancakes, and a coffee. To me was a little pricey for what we got but it appeared family owned but it was fine since we've been trying to support family owned businesses. Stav's wound up being one of the very first restaurants I went to after moving to Columbus, as I was driving someone to the airport and wanted a good breakfast place in the vicinity. I enjoyed it then, but didn't make it back until this past weekend...and it was just as good as I'd remembered. The small size of the restaurant is both one of its biggest disadvantages and greatest charms. Other than a half-dozen or so two-seater tables and another dozen or so bar stools around the kitchen, there's nowhere to sit. As a result, when there's a line (and you should *expect* a line), you can't help but look pleadingly at all the diners, hoping that any of them will finish off their delicious strips of bacon, and abandon their seat. Yet somehow, once you *do* sit down, it feels worth the wait. The coffee is surprisingly good -- it's still "diner coffee," but about as good as diner coffee gets -- and all the classics are done right, with good proportions. When I went in July of 2017, I was doing a keto diet and had a gyro omelet...which might have been the most delicious things I'd had on that diet. This time, my somewhat plumper self indulged in the Challah French toast with ham and scrambled eggs, and it was just what the doctor ordered. Okay, maybe not the doctor, but suffice it to say that it was very tasty. My girlfriend had poached eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and toast, and she was satisfied as well. I don't think Stav's is the kind of place I could give five-stars to, given the cramped confines, the long wait, and the reality that it *is* just good diner food...but Stav's is great for what it is, and deserves to be experienced when you've got some time on your hands and you just can't bring yourself to go to one of the mainstream options that are in abundance in this city... read more

My wife and I live a couple blocks from Stav's and finally were able to check it out recently. Agree with the majority of the reviews that talked about the great service and food. It is small with limited seating; it would probably be tough to seat more than a group of two (our baby had to go on the floor behind us in her carseat). Also very clean inside. I'd previously ordered takeout and grew to love their Gyro omelet. The Saturday the atrocity occurred was the weekend my son brought home Mat Man (part of a curriculum where each student takes Mat Man home for a weekend and documents their experiences). Our trip to the diner was intended to be a magnificent addition to our exciting weekend. My son and I happily posed for pics outside of the diner... my son excitedly begged me to take a picture of he and mat man in front of their American flag. We walked in, I realized the diner was much smaller than anticipated. After a quick scan of the limited spaces, my son and I approached the counter area and took our seats. As we sat, the man seated next to my son scoffed at us, grabbed his jacket and moved his seat. Shocked, I replied "that's interesting." The cook - who I understand is the owner, attempted to make a joke to ease the the tension, he said to the gentlemen (who he knew by name) "I know I smell but, you didn't have to move." Why was there tension just because we walked in to patronize the business? Next, the waitress who never made eye contact with me during our entire visit approached to take our order. I mentioned I would take the order to go and the waitress yelled "Oh No, absolutely no take out orders on the weekend - we are not staffed for that!" I reassured her it was no problem. If this policy was posted, the misunderstanding would have been avoided. Although, the service continued to decline, I stayed because it was a necessary lesson for my son and I had an ounce of hope the service would change. Strangely enough, none of the waitstaff made eye contact with me nor spoke directly to me - not even when they delivered my meal - the plate was plopped onto the counter. Yet, they spoke directly to my son (a four year old). Really, no one asked if I required anything like a second hot tea, water, napkin, or condiments. The diner is nearly as big as a master bedroom yet, I had to wait extended amounts of time to grab someone's attention if I required assistance. And, Yes, the other patrons of the diner were checked up on continuously. I was treated like I had leprosy. While standing in line to check out, the same wait-staff who scolded me for requesting take out asked the patron ahead of me if he needed his receipt. He declined. After I payed, I asked the same professional for my receipt, she seemed bewildered, confused and asked why...? This experience was such a letdown. I live in the neighborhood and recall the numerous times I promised myself to visit this "gem" with my family. Unfortunately, our service was worse than sub-par and a huge let down. Decided to check this spot out with a friend since it recently opened up. Not much parking in the front but there is plenty in the back. It's a small cozy diner feels like you're stepping into a black and white film, I loved it. Owner and employees were great, always checking in to make sure I was satisfied. The menu isn't too big, but for what they do have, they cook it up well. I ordered French toast, hash browns, eggs and some turkey sausage. Very Quaint, Old School (Mostly Counter Seating) Diner setting with a single grill cook, cranking out some amazing food! Absolutely loved their Cheddar cheese Eggs, Crispy Bacon, and Challah Bread French Toast Combo. A Diner by another definition There are several definitions of what constitutes a Diner, the one that best fits Stav's is "an inexpensive restaurant". My coworker suggested this location for a couple of reasons; fast and inexpensive, Stav's is more than just that. The menu is not comprised of complicated stuff, it is easy to read and logical in sequence. For lunch sandwiches, the least expensive was $6.75 and the most expensive was $8.50. The costliest item was a salad with grilled chicken breast, $10.25. We were there for lunch, so ordering a sandwich and fries was the thing to do. I ordered the corned beef on rye and split the fries with my coworker. The food was cooked right in front of us and it seemed that every precaution was taken to ensure proper and safe preparation. My sandwich came to me so piled high with corned beef, it became a little difficult to eat. However, I overcame that obstacle and triumphed. The flavor was very good and the Swiss cheese stood out. Overall, a great sandwich for the price. The décor was clean and tasteful although the diner is on the small side. There is a handicap and wheelchair access parking space at the far east end of the shopping strip (four shops down), so be prepared if you intend to use it. Out front there are only a few spaces for parking, however, around back there are many more. This is a Veteran friendly establishment and I have personal knowledge of Stavros' unselfish involvement within the Veteran community. I will be back without a doubt. read more

So typically restaurants on yelp that are rated 4.5 stars or more are phenomenal but this one definitely missed the mark! We ordered a western omelet, French toast (made with challa bread), with hasbrowns and bacon. All the food was mediocre at best and lacked flavor. The theme of the night was bland food that could be easily replicated at home for a fraction of the price. Also this place is very tiny so the diner got cramped pretty easily! The service wasn't bad, but just was a little slow since there was only one server. This is the real deal! Great diner! We sat at the counter and watched the ballet going on as the grill cook (Stav?) produced plate after plate of delicious food.
