Stopped by Starbucks on 5th Street for a quick afternoon pick-me-up after my run. I was able to place my order ahead of time using the app. I tried something a little different: a chai latte with ube powder added in. I was excited to find that Starbucks now offered ube powder as a customization option decided to add it to my regular beverage. The drink came out creamy, spiced, and slightly nutty-sweet from the ube with a lavender color. The barista was friendly and added an iced water to my order since I could not do that on the app. The drink was made quickly and the app kept me apprised on the status of my order. The store was clean and well maintained. Overall, a reliable stop when you want something familiar with a creative spin. Can't wait to try more customized ube options. read more

Stopped in for a quick pick me up this afternoon and omg...the iced pecan crunch oat milk latte was soooo good. It came with a sweet foam and brown sugar sprinkled on top. I could drink it every day. It does feel weird to review such a big chain as Starbucks, but this location is less than a 5 minute walk from where we live. We visit this spot at least once a week, and I got to commend the staff for their consistency. Normally I put in the online order right before my walk, and I'd say 95% of the time the order is ready to go when I get there. The staff is always very welcoming and friendly, which must be tough to do in such a busy location. As for the coffee - it's Starbucks. No big surprises here. My favorites are the holiday lattes (Pumpkin Spice, Chestnut Praline, Caramel Brulee). I do wish Starbucks would change up their savory food items - perhaps a seasonal special or something. One of my favorite Starbucks I've been to. It's right across the street from Whole Foods, so I stop there to caffeinate before delivering groceries for them. The staff at this Starbucks is super nice, especially the cute girl with the nose ring. If you have time, I highly recommend drinking your coffee in-store as you never know what kind of crazy Downtown shenanigans will happen. read more

This is a very average Starbucks. It's frequently packed with four or five patrons waiting on their coffee orders, and because of the layout of the shop, it makes it seem overcrowded and unfriendly. I don't have much in the way of advice except for rearranging the small seating area so that folks leave the door space free for those who have already picked up their coffees and want to access napkins and sugar. It's just an unfortunate setup for a small location. The coffee is fine. I got my first Spindrift grapefruit water from them recently and am happy to be trying out new product lines from them, so they get an extra star for that. read more

I am never one to leave bad reviews. But this Starbucks was awful. Took 30 minutes for them to make my drink and when I got it, it was nothing what I ordered. If I'm paying extra to have a syrup flavoring to my already overpriced drink, I should have it, right? Right? I usually don't start drinking until after I've left the store and am long gone. I got a very big Seattle vibe from this particular Starbucks. It's a somewhat busy location and even on a Sunday they were packed to capacity so I can only imagine that during the week with all the businesses around, they should be a popular spot but then again, their staff know what they're doing. Even though I only saw two people working, even while I was in line, the Barista asked what I wanted so he could start my order. It seems like the polite and logical thing to do but it's surprising how few Starbucks employees do that. We all know that finding a street parking spot in downtown Austin is so freaking difficult. But do not worry! There is a Starbucks in downtown that usually does not require you to spend more than ten minutes looking for a parking spot! This location has a parking lot designated for Starbucks customers. When I went, at least 1/3 of the parking lot space was available. There is quite a lot of small tables perfect for you to get your studying/work done. If you are coming with another person, finding a table may be quite difficult. Other than that, this is by far my favorite Starbucks location in downtown! read more

This is not my every day coffee stop, but I have found myself here most Fridays for the last six months. And while I am not a daily customer, I was floored that after about three visits (in three weeks), the staff remembered my name and my coffee beverage. In addition to a fabulous memory, the folks that work here are warm, friendly and fast, with a great sense of humor. The space is long and narrow with ample lighting from a wall of windows facing 5th Street. They recently did a mini-remodel and it feels like there are more seats yet more room. You will find a lot of remote workers and students in here on their laptops and tablets, so grab a seat quickly if ypou plan to stay. Business is bustling on Friday mornings equally mixed with mobile orders and folks standing in line. There is free one-hour parking in the lot and a few metered spots on 5th Street. They also have a few outdoor tables with ubmrellas. In addition to all the beverages, coffee, tea and Starbucks merchandise, they offer breakfast pastries and sandwiches, yogurt, oatmeal, and othe rbakery items as well as a selection of lunch items like salads, hot and cold sandwiches and bistro boxes. Fair warning, the Michigan Cherry Oat Bar is so delicious, it can be addicting. As a once-a-day coffee out drinker, it's nice to know that when I am not in my own hood, this Starbucks is my downtown "Cheers." read more

Have to say that despite loving local coffee shops, I tend to be a Starbuck's groupie. Something about knowing you are getting the same cup of coffee and friendly attitude is nice and peaceful. However... someone forgot to tell this store that they are a Starbucks and it is making me crazy as it is now the closest location to my new condo. Bleck.. Stopped in for coffee and oatmeal after a run down at the lake. Maybe 4-5 people in the place as it was still a bit early for the crowds. Water for the oatmeal wasn't hot so it didn't soak into the oats. The coffee (my normal skinny mocha with non dairy) was disgusting. Pretty sure it was regular milk and they missed counting the number of sugar free mocha pumps. Dumped both and left. Called it a bad day and figured everyone has them. Next trip in was during a weekday afternoon. Placed a mobile order and when I got there asked the barista for a glass of water too as no way to order that on the app. His response? A dirty stare and I'm busy so you have to wait. Whoa.. No problem.. I can wait a few minutes as it's first come/first serve, but how about not supplying the extra attitude. I thanked him nicely and apologized when he gave me the water. Told him no online option. He looked a bit sheepish so hoping maybe next time he tones it down. I used to live by the Starbucks on 3rd and Lavaca, so a bit spoiled with their incredible staff. I now route my run down a bit east to hit that location or stop in at Whole Food to avoid giving them any more business. read more

The place is clean inside the main area with a range of different products you can buy including ground coffee, coffee mugs /cups, paper, antioxidants, etc. They offer free WiFi. It's about 6 pm on a Saturday and there is plenty of seating. Baristas were friendly and prompt enough. The 'unisex' men's restroom was disgusting. Urine all over the floor = - star. They appear to have their own parking lot, but unfortunately I didn't see it and paid to park! read more

Ambiance, it was nice and quiet. May have even been as quiet as a library, with the exception of the espresso machines. The line got a little long, like 16 people (i counted), but seeing that i didn't order anything, nor did i wait in it, no complaints there. This Starbucks seemed to have a generous amount of plugs, just not ergonomically correct, as i was sitting in a lounge chair, with my cord over and under the window bar area; not a good look; dangerous for someone passing by. Their connection proved to be pretty fast. As of late, Starbucks' connection usually is pretty slow, but maybe it wasn't too many people streaming, and or surfing. I'd definitely revisit this location the next time i'm in town. read more

As far as Bucks go, this one is about as good as it gets. The Baristas are friendly (all excpet one) and they try to actually remember your drink which is impressive given that this place is ALWAYS packed. If you want to grab a table to work, be prepared to wait or sit outside (you know, in November-March when it's not a thousand out there.) They get high marks for consistency (thank you corporate chain) and for local Austin art on the wall and they always have parking. The gentleman with the beard making the drinks seemed very rude and like he didn't really want to be in my presence, or like he didn't want to serve me. I was dressed very well and presented myself well, so I'm not quite sure what the problem was (considering we were seemingly also of the same race). After waiting for a really long time I went to check on the drinks and there was a bunch still on the counter and when I asked him whether my drink was ready he said yeah and he sort-of rudely slid it over towards me. I left with my sister, a bit upset that I was being treated that way, since I don't think I deserve that. Though, the drink was already really soggy and gross.. So, I decided to go back and let the lady in the front know what had happened and asked if I could get another one if the drink I ordered and she said yes :). I also noticed that the barista was also very quiet when announcing names. Like, absurdly quiet which explains the pile-up of caffeine lol. Anyway, I probably won't go here again. I really like this Starbucks because of their new espresso machine. It's noticeably better than other Starbucks locations nearer to me. So, when I have time for the drive, I always prefer to make the 18 min drive to this location over the 5 or 7 minute drive to the two locations closer to home. Also, as for that reviewer who mentioned that they treat regulars like royalty, I agree. They always remember who I am and what kind of drink I like. Sadly this Starbucks is no longer dog friendly. It's been a regular stop on our walks for a coffee and a Pupachino since I moved to Austin. Today I was asked to keep my dog outside from now on. Sad. Huh. I'm using a walker and the seemlingly polite barista handed me a grande coffee. I went to my table and then i realized the condiments were on the other side of the room from my table. So i was actually slowly, carefully carrying the coffee and then pushing the coffee cup on the bar toward the opposite side of the room because it was too hot and awkward to carry far with my walker. This was right in front of the baristas and rather than helping me they just started talking and joking with each other. There was no one in line and no coffee to be made so they could have easily chosen to help me. Then a patron yelled loudly, "Can I help you??" He told me later he couldn't believe the self-involved baristas didn't even offer help. I told him they must be Austin newbies, because traditional polite Texas boys would help. read more

This Starbucks can be really hit or miss. I usually stop by at about 7:15 on my way to work and sometimes there is a huge line, sometimes there is nobody there. The other day I ordered a tall americano... just like I always do. Somehow the guy putting this in to the computer put in a tall latte. When I told the barista that was not what I ordered he looked incredibly annoyed as he dramatically dumped the latte into the sink. He proceeded to make me my americano and then I politely asked about the fact that I had apparently been charged for a latte. The other employee/cashier/apparently not a barista person politely refunded my starbucks card for their mistake. The whole experience left a very bad impression in my mind. read more

Just read quite a few of the reviews before deciding whether or not to post this. But sounds like im not alone. I'm a daily Starbucks customer but this is not my home store. Because of that, they may not have realized that every morning I get a coffee and tip a dollar and every afternoon around 4 I get half a refill for .54$ and tip another dollar. Now I know technically policy is that since I wasn't in the store that whole time I should have to pay for the second cup. But after the first barista looked at me like I was insane when I asked for a refill and the manager came over just to tell me that they don't do non-instore refills I just felt like a poor looser that I don't have $100 more dollars to drop every month. I mentioned it to my home store and they were just so kind and noted how much drip coffee they dump every day. I sure hope this post doesn't encourage Starbucks to remind all their stores to informed policy but rather to remind them that 30 coffees and 30 refills and 60 tips is far better for their bottom line than an embarrassed and shamed ex-customer. read more
