Inside the resale wall

Love the service! A nice place to stop in and grab a cup of Jo or to stop and fire-up your laptop. Plenty of tables and even chairs at the bar. The coffee options are great as well as the morning (breakfast) tacos and pastries. They are even tastier!

I was in the area and craving a coffee, so I stopped into Figure 8 after a quick Google search. There was someone ordering at the counter and 2 people sitting at a low table, but other than that, the place was empty. It was 8am, so this was perfect! I ordered a latte and a danish. I believe they get their pastries from Sour Duck, a bakery/restaurant on the East side. Both were delicious! I sat down at one of the 2-top tables by the wall, which had an outlet, and did some work while enjoying my drink and pastry. I looked around and was pleasantly surprised to see that most tables had outlets near them (which is rare!). There was free wifi (password: worththedrive) which made it easy to get some things done. The only thing I will note is that all of the seating options are pretty low to the ground, and the table I was sitting at was a bit lopsided/uneven, making it awkward to have my laptop, drink, and pastry in front of me. This wasn't too much of an issue, but worth noting nonetheless. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Classic blend espresso

Dropped in on our way into town, looking for an afternoon espresso pick me up. Our barista, Ryan, was on top of things and gave me the details on their two espresso choices, a more standard chocolate/caramel/nuts offering, and an Ethiopian fruit forward bean. I ordered one of each, and my wife opted for a pot of peppermint tea. Both espressos were served in proper servingware, with sparkling water. The classic was just a tad on the bitter side to my palate, but still good, with strong chocolate and "roasty" notes. The Ethiopian was right on, no bitter notes at all, and a delightful fruit finish. A bag of Peruvian beans I grabbed for later was only 10 days off roast and needs more rest, but was quite good as a pourver at the hotel. Great spot!

This is my second visit to a Figure 8 (last time I went to the other location in East Austin). This location seems like the newer branch of Figure 8. Compared to the other location, this branch is more contemporary with ample of clean seating. It was, however, a bit too dimly lit for my old eyes to comfortably do work. The parking situation here was easier as well. When we walked in, the barista greeted us and was very nice and fast. We ordered a cappuccino and an iced lavender latte. The drinks were good, but I could tell the beans weren't as fresh as my last visit. Although we didn't try any, there were a variety of pastries for sale. They also sell the day old ones at a discount.

Beautiful, simple coffee shop with some good options for tea! My husband has to stop at coffee shops when we travel. The barista was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful! Definitely recommend!!

Not a bad place to have a business meeting or just camp out and study. I picked this spot off a whim because we were close and I wanted some good coffee. It was a bit pricey and for my taste but the ambiance made up for it so I was happy.

I tagged along to my sister's coffee run (she has great taste), the cortado they made here was solid. The employees were nice and provided quick service. Vibes in here are great- love the aesthetic created by the various furniture. There's space for many different sized groups (from 1-8)!

So glad there's a second location for Figure 8. I am a big fan of their east side shop and the chill vibe outdoor. This shop is in a mall along with some other businesses both food/non food. This place mostly has indoor seating and is not as airy or as large as their first location but lovely nevertheless. They have a few tables outside - perfect for a sunny winter/spring day and lots of tables inside with outlets. There is free wifi too. I had a matcha latte which tasted great. The barista was helpful and knowledgable. Would def recommend :)

Really great new location! Same high quality coffee as the original spot in East Austin but with lots of comfortable indoor seating. They have a nice selection of espresso beverages and drip coffee as well as hot/iced teas, and a few bottled drinks (sparkling water, coconut water, prebiotic sodas, etc.). They also have a small assortment of delicious pastries, but they said they sell out pretty quickly every day. The space is small but they were able to fit a good amount of seating in so it's a great space to work. It's quiet enough that you can concentrate but can also have comfortable conversations. Also a huge shoutout to the baristas on staff. They were both incredibly friendly and kind, and provided great service (brought drinks to our table and were very quick to clean tables after guests left).

Delicious hot latte

Stopped by this coffee shop in a very unassuming strip mall. The place was pretty cool and quiet. The two clerks were absolutely fantastic in helping me choose some beans to take home. I'm new to the whole pour over thing and they helped me navigate something new to try. I ordered a hot latte to drink there, it was really delicious! I was hoping to try some sort of pastry, but I guess I came too late and their offering were sparse. Definitely will be going back whenever I'm in area for my haircut.!

While exploring the many museums across the University of Texas campus, a quick caffeine break was needed for my girlfriend and we were overwhelmed by the number of options on The Drag. It makes sense that there are plenty of places to choose from because of the large number of UT students. Everyone needs a little coffee in their lives. One of the highest reviewed ones with a large pool of ratings was Lucky Lab Coffee and after checking a few quick reviews, we decided to give it a chance. Lucky Lab has five locations in Austin (four on campus) and one location in Dripping Springs. The one we were at off The Drag was their flagship. This location serves a little bit of everything from sandwiches to pastries, salad to quiche, and of course, coffee. As we walked inside the flagship, it is easy to notice how tight the space is. There is very little seating inside at their bar, but they make up for it with plenty of shaded outdoor space that is perfect for a nice day. Scanning their menu, we landed on some drinks from their winter menu. I was intrigued by their Pomegranate Rosemary Latte while my girlfriend tried their Ginger Spice Mocha. We got them both iced. First, it is interesting to see the fusion of pomegranate and rosemary in a latte. I was intrigued by those flavors. Their drink sizes are 12 oz, 16 oz, and 20 oz, each adding an additional 50 cents to each upgrade. All milk alternatives cost 1 dollar. It was only a short wait to get our coffees and the cup with the little lab on it was cute. I think specialty drinks have an opportunity to be amazing and one of a kind or the worst drink imaginable. This pomegranate rosemary latte did not fall into either category exactly, but leaned more toward the latter. I love pomegranates and I always appreciate how earthy rosemary can be in a coffee. One of my favorite lattes I have ever had has rosemary in it. This was just not working for me. I shamefully did not finish my coffee. As for my girlfriend, she did not like her ginger spice mocha. I could not imagine gingerbread syrup not working in a mocha, but after trying it myself it was not for me either. It seems like a perfect match, but here the gingerbread is competing with the chocolate and instead of complementing each other they clash. She told me that the flavors were "un-mocha like". She drank less than half of her coffee before tossing it as well. Neither of us wanted to dislike Lucky Lab. They seem well established and I felt like they were trustworthy based on reviews, but I wonder what these previous reviewers were tweaking on or what magical concoction of coffee granted from heaven above they were sipping on because we were distraught by how disappointing these drinks were. I would like to give Lucky Lab Coffee Co the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe the specialty drinks were not up to par with their traditional beverages. However, the almost 30 different syrup options on their wall make me feel they lack a little focus and try too hard to stand out. They lose what makes a coffee good, which is coffee. I want to say I will give them a second shot in the future to see if it was just an off day or a bad beverage pick. Too many shots turns a Lucky Lab into Old Yeller. The lab needs to be put on a leash before I think about returning. RIYL: options

We've been wanting to check out this shop for quite sometime and finally had the chance. From the minute we walked in the door the vibe was on! Our barista, Litsa was incredible! She was fun and bouncy and had so much positive energy. She even helped me create a concoction of sorts. Like most, lavender is my go-to. But, I also wanted toasted marshmallow and so I was torn. She suggested a combo of the two for my cappuccino (with oat milk of course). Wow! It was spectacular. I was so beyond miserable when I walked in the door (the rain) and she turned things around for me within 30 seconds of interacting. Her positivity and kindness were through the roof! My cappuccino concoction...so good I think it should be a menu feature! The banana guard iced latte my boyfriend got was equally as delicious. It was like an ice cream treat for grown-ups. Everything about the shop is so welcoming. Warm lighting, comfortable seating, and spacious. So much for the eye to take in as they have offerings from local artists and craftspeople for sale. A mini store if you will. All lined neatly on wall hanging shelves. They've got candles, pottery, jewelry, clothing, etc. All the goodies you'd expect to find at a gift and craft, artisan shop. Fitting since the drinks they put out are liquid art. Since it's about a ten-minute walk from home, it'll definitely be a new stop when going to the pet store. Wonderful experience on a dreary day.

This place is full vegan and tip free (as is included in the price) I got a dirty chai latte with oat milk. It tasted very natural, like the oatmeal was handmade or something. Very natural and creamy. The inside was very colorful, decorated, with many shops from artists in the Austin area. There was plenty of seating. The only thing is that it is very pricy and I didn't get an itemized receipt in the text, so I'm not sure exactly how much the drinks, tax, and tip were. I liked this place, and would come back in the future!
