This was my first visit to Dog Day Coffee & Nitro. Guess the coffee detox program didn't work. Smile. I was lured into Dog Day by their great Yelp rating 4.6/5. Dog Day is located on Burnet Road. When I walked into Dog Day I was fascinated by what was going on inside. There are dog pictures on the walls for sell. These cute little doggie pictures are for sale with the scan of their respective QR code. They also have nitro coffee. If you're unfamiliar with nitro coffee, you're not alone. Here's the scoop...Nitro coffee begins as cold brew and is then infused with nitrogen gas, which creates tiny little bubbles that give it a creamy, velvety texture. It has the foaminess of beer. Important to note, it has no alcohol. They have an assortment of food- pastries, tacos and sandwiches. The coffee shop is large with seating space on both sides of the coffee shop. There is also outside seating. I ordered the matcha latte and a migas taco with potato and avocado. The matcha latte was initially too matcha-y. I added a lavender flavoring and it was perfect. The migas taco was especially tasty. Mark, the barista, was very friendly and accommodating. He said that Dog Day had been open for 1.5 years and the name was based on a love for dogs...surprise, surprise. Smile. read more

A pretty unexpected hit on Burnet! Love the variety and open working space here. It's bright, has plenty of seating, a large variety on the menu, and a cute theme (dogs!). Parking is easy and free in the public garage space next to the building. Definitely enjoyed my visit and will be returning! I especially loved that - beyond coffee, nitro cold brews, tea, and seasonal lattes - they offer local food like tacos, tamales, and sweets. Dog Day Coffee & Nitro is bigger inside than it looks from the street. The people running it are super kind, and it's definitely worth a visit, especially if you're a nitro coffee fan, since that's what they're known for. I got the matcha, which was fine but not a standout. Breakfast tacos come from Green Cart Foods, so they have the usual hotbox/tortilla-sticking-to-foil issues, not the shop's fault, just part of the setup. Really great coffee, easily some of the best in town. The drinks are consistently well made, and it is definitely a spot I keep coming back to. The only downside for me is that I wish the inside felt a bit cozier and more comfortable for studying or working for longer stretches. I haven't been here in awhile, in fact it has moved. This place is now a retail shop under The Marq at Burnett Apartments. There is parking in the parking garage behind the place. They have several options to choose from. Yesterday I had a blended iced coldbrew. It was pretty good. I have been in this location a couple of other times actually and they usually only have 1 barista and since they also do take out with doordash, etc that person can get quite busy. Fortunately for me, it was later in the day and it wasn't too busy. I sat in an armed chair facing a sofa. It kind of reminds me of the Central Perk on Friends, except you have to order at the counter. There is also bar seating along the windows as well as tables with chairs. Went on a Friday afternoon and as we sat there most tables were taken up with people working quietly on their laptops. There's a few types of seating including bistro out front on the side walk. There's grab and go items and I believe you can order ahead. We had a couple of the fall coffees and a danish. Everything tasted really good but the hot coffee wasn't hot at all - just lukewarm. I got a taro latte and a tamale to-go in the middle of the workday. The cafe has a good amount of seating inside, and it seems like good place to also get some work done. The service was a bit slow. There was only one barista working, but she was very nice. The taro latte was good, and I appreciated how the taro flavor wasn't overpowered by the coffee. Really great place to be at. At first I was expecting your typical nitro coffee, but was quickly and pleasantly surprised at the array of mixed nitro coffees there were, among other items. I really enjoyed my coffee infused with earl gray, I forgot what the name was. The faculty itself is spacious and has many tables to move the time along. As the title states, its dog friendly with treats and water around. Would definitely love to stop by the next time I'll be in Austin. read more

I've been here a few times over the past month, and I really love The Ralph. That's my go-to here. It's a Thai Tea concoction that comes out of their tap, and it's really smooth and tastes great. A bit sweet but not too much. I love that it comes out cold and don't need any ice and they fill it to the rim. They also have an Earl Gray Tea, and I found out they have a Mexican Mocha too - what? I have to try that. And they have a Nitro brew - sometimes I will mix that with the Ralph. Plus you get $1 off any large coffee in the afternoon - I think that's a weekly HH special. Service has always been nice and attentive here, everyone has been super nice and helpful. You can sample those drinks too just in case you're not sure, but my go-to is The Ralph. Place has plenty of seating, it's usually very quiet here, not overloaded or too crowded. Comfortable seating too - beats my old hangout Cuvee that is now gone (E. 6th). Finally made my way here on a Sunday morning to check the place out. It's a pretty chill spot with amazing nitro coffees. I was able to sample the "hey earl" because the owner goes to my BJJ gym so I decided to come by and check out their other flavors since the milk tea flavored nitro was so good. I got the "morning Ralph" and it tasted just like Thai tea. It really makes me question if this is really nitro coffee. I also grabbed a green chile pork, egg and cheese taco while I was here and it's pretty damn delicious. I believe the barista told me they get their tacos from scratch kitchen. I might be wrong though since I have the memory of a gold fish. The place is also dog friendly I believe since they have doggie biscuits on the counter and water bowl outside for the pup. I read a previous review that only outside is dog friendly so I didn't stay inside too long with my pup after ordering. It was a nice day to drink some coffee outside anyways. This was my first time visiting Dog Day. I got the nitro flight which gives you the option of 4 nitro cold brew selections. They each had oat milk in them and were mildly sweet. My choices were Dirty Earl (Earl grey), Morning Ralph (Thai tea), Morning Sam (chai) and Mocha. They were each true to the flavor with beautiful aromas. The Dirty Earl was my favorite followed closely by the Morning Ralph. The mocha and Morning Sam were tied so after drinking half of the glasses I combined the two and created a delicious chocolate chai. The space is attached to Nosh and Bevvy so has more of a pub vibe than a cafe. It was a great place to chat with friends over a coffee and could also be good to get some work done remotely. read more

I recently discovered Dog day and love coming here to work during the work week. It's always pretty quiet minus the morning rush and there's always plenty of seating available. The bar chairs are not the most comfortable but the rest of the tables are all fine. The most unique aspect about this place is their nitro lattes that they make with oat milk. The dirty earl is a classic and I highly recommend. They also have one that's made with Thai tea and it's absolutely delicious. Besides the nitro items they also have really good lattes. My only one complaint was one time when I got a baked good (one of the Zucchini Kill items) it was very stale so I would just be careful ordering those in case they're not fully fresh. I Like their cappucino a lot! The froth is super smooth and the espresso shot was pulled just right. Dog Day is good for reading/studying and has a good amount of chairs. They also have some chairs along the window which I like. They have some pastries options but none that appeal to me. I found Dog Day when they were still at Bevy and Nosh and their seating area was the pool room area in the day when B&N was closed. When I saw that they were finally moving to their own space it was bittersweet: I was glad that they would finally get out on their own but it was about a mile down the road so a little further away from me. Since I felt that way I realized how much I appreciated Dog Day. I'm an avowed non-coffee drinker so why would I come back to Dog Day and why would I rate it so highly? Well, they have non-coffee options that are also nitrogenated-which gives that same smooth texture that I've gotten from cold brew coffees (the rare exception to my no coffee rule) and they use it to have some interesting drinks. This summer it was the nitro watermelon mint mojito tea. Damn! It's not only a nice, not overly sweet way to get my caffeine fix but they nitroed the tea so it smoothed it out. The new space is theirs and I've enjoyed it once so far and true to their name they're very dog friendly. I had their latest nitro tea selection and while I cant wait again for summer their nitro tea is still jammin' smooth and delicious. What's another mile for that? read more

I found my new favorite study/coffee place! Here are the reasons why I loved my experience here: 1. Interesting menu: I ordered the Dirty Earl which is a coffee with earl grey tea combo. I enjoyed that it didn't come with ice so there was more volume, and that it was sweet but not too sweet. I could even use even less sweetness next time! The earl grey tasted nice and not artificial. 2. Ambiance: The music wasn't too loud, and the sound/energy was just right- no echo-y walls which can be distracting and overwhelming, but not too muffled/quiet either. The owner said they put the absorbent sound pads which is nice! I loved the large windows with sunlight seeping in, I felt a nice sense of calm here. 3. Comfort: I noticed that the chairs against the window walls are perfect for my back. Often times, the length is misaligned and hurts my back, but these were just right and made me feel I could camp out for awhile without aches. 4. This was my first time stopping in. I love trying new coffee shops especially while I do my studying. I got there matcha latte with pumpkin spice syrup added and I can confidently say it was one of the best matchas I've had. The service was nice and fast. The overall feel of the place is definitely more laid back. One thing I liked about the business was the "thank you" wall. Customers can purchase a drink as a gift for veterans and military. What a hidden gem of a coffeeshop! Dog day nitro has been on my bookmarks list for quite a while. While running errands, my husband and I stopped by to grab coffee to go. There is plenty of parking available, and the location is tucked away in what seems like it shares a space with a part of Nosh and Bevvy (or they did some renovation so now that the two are partly connected). We drove around a bit in the plaza area looking for the coffeeshop sign before realizing it was right next to Nosh and Bevvy. It was quiet and there were plenty of tables available to sit at and study. I'm a huge fan of seasonal menus and fun flavored coffee, and I adored their winter menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the Peppermint bark latte and Taro latte we ordered, for while I like flavored coffee, I'm quite sensitive to overly sugary drinks and strongly prefer when there's a balance and can still taste the coffee. I'm happy to say that both drinks were very well balanced, definite flavors of peppermint bark and taro while tasting the coffee, and neither were too sweet. It was so difficult for me to choose what to order for there were so many options that sounded amazing. Unfortunately, I have to give them three stars because you are not allowed to get on X (known as Twitter) when you are connected to their free wireless network, like treating you as a dog with a lease. What a hidden gem!! It has interesting drinks and they are all so tasty. I want to come back and try literally all of their drinks. They always have new ones they come up with depending on the season so I love how they are very creative. I tried their flight of nitro cold brew and it was like a drink I would get from a boba shop except it's with cold brew and a bit lighter. I just love how I can try 4 different flavors in one go since sometimes I just want a little bit of everything. Their prices are super fair too. Flight of nitro I got were House, Dirty Earl (earl grey), Morning Sam (chai), and Morning Ralph (Thai tea). I love how they use oat milk with these nitro since that's the preferred milk of choice for me and it's safe for a lot of people with dietary restrictions. Most importantly, it just tastes good! I want to let everyone know about this place and for this place to continue to survive. It gives local shop and hidden best secret if you know you know vibes. Sounds like speakeasy for a coffee shop. But I definitely want people to know so that they continue to be in business and looking forward to all of their amazing creations. I stopped by here the day of their grand opening. They had a nice variety of pastries. While those were good, the coffee was amazing! I had a nitro cold brew that was one of the best I've tried.
