Wasn't horrible but very expensive for the quantity/quality in my opinion. Ordered a flat white and a sandwich (around $6 + $13, $20 total). The coffee was tiny... finished it in around 5 minutes. My favorite spot to go to if I'm in the area. They offer unusual drinks and foods. One popular item I just got told is the London fog scone. There was only one left and someone beat me to eat. What I love about them is that they have electrical outlets so I can plug in my laptop and get some writing done there. I thought the empanada was really small but it actually filled me up for breakfast. Also got Monkey's Uncle. You can order drinks iced or hot. Ordered lunch to-go and really just wanted sandwiches but they l came as meals (with chips and a drink). I don't normally eat chips but the chips are actually super delicious! Staff didn't mind me hemming and hawing as I tried to narrow down my order. I love to support local and this place makes it easy! Monkey Nest is comfy and good for everything from a business networking meeting to an online date. It even makes the epically terrible ones minimally less crappy because you're drinking good coffee in a charming cafe. The inside feels less corporate than a "char-bucks" and it's easy to hang out there for long periods - no loud blenders. They have an unusual variety of coffee drinks and the baristas are friendly & quick. I've had lots of traditional latte type things there in the past, but recently tried their matcha latte and highly recommend!! Rather than using some gross sugary matcha syrup like the chains do, they used actual matcha powder and it was unsweetened, which is soooo much better. I love Monkey Nest coffee! Their menu is so creative and everything is tasty! There is only one location on Burnet and I like that it's not a chain. Their drinks are on the sweet side I will say, but you still get that coffee flavor. It's good for me personally as a pick me up treat in the afternoon. The young lady at the front was very kind and patient while she explained the menu and I tried the Chocolate Chimp Coffee. She recommended coconut milk with it and omg was it good. If you like chocolate and coconut then you will love this drink. It tastes just like a bounty candy bar. I didn't try their food/pastries but it did look yummy. Was in the area after running some errands and decided to give this place a try! When I pulled in I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of parking available - always a win! I also appreciated that they have the menu posted outside and over curbside and mobile take out orders. I was really excited to see a Spicy Mocha option on the menu as I have been on a quest for a good one in the area since falling in love with this flavor during travels for work. I ordered the Spicy Monkey Mocha - flavored with chocolate, cinnamon and Cayenne (12oz iced - $4.99). While it doesn't top my current all-time favorites (from Alabama and New Mexico) it is most definitely the best one I have had in Texas. The drink is well balanced with no one flavor over powering the coffee but each still remains distinctly present in the drink. The shop offers a wide variety of organic drinks, sandwiches and pastries. There is an abundance of seating for working or socializing.
