Jo's is okay - I've had it several times over the years and the coffee is just okay. It tastes a bit bitter to me and the flavored lattes just don't taste as expected. This past week I got the berry chantilly matcha which was amazing, though it didn't taste like berries at all. Unfortunately the bean and cheese taco just tasted like a can of black beans. As I was looking for breakfast, I saw written on the building "Good coffee, good food," so I said let's give it a try. For starters, the line was long and moved slow. The line was only long because it moved slow! Had I known the line would move that slow, I wouldn't have ordered anything. Nearly every breakfast item had cheese on it and that would be okay if the food wasn't pre-made so I couldn't customize my item to have no cheese. Well, I've waited this long so I went ahead and ordered the bacon, egg, & cheese breakfast sandwich. The bacon wasn't undercooked to the point it wasn't safe to eat, but it really could have been cooked longer. I removed as much cheese as I could. The bread itself was pretty good. Overall, the sandwich wasn't too good. The long line + a not so good sandwich = I won't stop again. read more

Staff is phoning it in. Feels like a coffee shop in a shit part of Dallas. Coffee is mediocre. It does contain caffeine.

I was looking forward to checking this place out. It has a small but cute inside area and a decent amount of seating on the patio. On a Sunday morning around 9 AM, they were very quickly cranking out the drinks. I tried the seasonal fluffernutter steamed cold brew. It was good but nothing noteworthy. I appreciated that I could choose a half sweet option along with less ice. I was happy to see they had alternative milk options of soy, oat and almond, but I didn't appreciate that it was $1.25 to substitute those. There are some places that don't charge for substitutions, but most places charge around $.75. I really hope they reconsider the cost for dairy substitutions! read more

The location was good so I went to the drive thru. It took a few minutes for any greeting to come through the speaker. When asked the largest size, the clerk clarified hot or cold? I responded with cold. 20 oz size then, they responded. I ordered a 20 oz iced chai latte. There was a deep sigh and then I was told to proceed to the window without a price being given. The clerk was friendly at the window though and helpful with the machine for payment. The drink itself was terrible and I won't order it again. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect chai and this wasn't it. Overly spiced, it tasted like I was drinking patchouli. I don't know if it's a pre-mix or if they're actually brewing it there, but it's just awful. The Turbo, one of their house drinks is a personal favorite. This location is cute, plenty of easy parking, plenty of seating to hang for a bit. not really big enough imo for work but nice place to chill for a bit. The staff here were so kind and welcoming as expected and the drinks options were always solid. As a out of town visitor this is one of my go to coffee stops when Im in austin. Never going back here. I recently moved in the area a couple weeks ago and have been going here because its just the closest coffee shop. The staff that work here are like passive aggressive trying to get a tip, because I guess Jo's is one of those coffee shops where they hand you the tipping machine and ask for a tip while going through the drive through. Anyways, I always try to be nice to these people but I never want to tip for a drip coffee. I've noticed every time I hand the reader back with no tip on it, they immediately look at the reader, and then I'm just completely ignored and sometimes even given a rude face. The audacity of these people is ridiculous especially when I'm being polite to them in the first place. read more

I work nearby so I frequent this location but honestly every time I go I am disappointed. I've tried just about everything on the menu and nothing has ever actually been good. The last time I went I decided to study for a bit inside. The seating space is small but they also have outdoor seating as well. My biggest "ick" was when I was trying to order I couldn't tell if it was a customer in line so I kinda just stood behind them for a while, turns out it was the barista having a make out session with their s/o. All the love to them but like that was so awkward for me to just stand there thinking the barista had clocked out but really he was enjoying some of his s/o. Had a really good time at their happy hour. They have two dollar Lonestar, three dollar craft, beers, five dollar froze, and half off wine. Great deal, took advantage of it, sat at the patio, and their playlist is fire. The music was so good, relaxing and groovy vibe. Plenty of parking space. They also have a drive-through which is super convenient. Odd thing though, 10 minutes before they close, they just turned off the lights. I've never been treated so poorly by people at a restaurant that I'm giving my hard earned money to. The girls in the drive thru are normally nice unless you pre-order your food through door dash. Then they become aggressive - Anna and Alexandra specifically. I think they get issues with door dash frequently and they take their anger out on the customers instead of taking that energy and using it for good. On two occasions I went to pickup my order and they were out of items. Instead of offering solutions they immediately snap at the customer, calling me inappropriate adjectives, and being downright passive aggressive. I'm shocked they employee people like that. I had to record the interaction this time because of how they attacked me thru the drive thru. Based on prior reviews, it looks like this is a recurring theme where other customers are experiencing the same thing. In my situation specifically they blamed the manager the entire time. It's obvious they aren't loyal to their employer and were throwing her under the bus. They should change jobs if they are that miserable. read more

Glad for a Jo's near campus! The coffee here 5/5! I got the drip coffee (bc I feel like you have to get the plain coffee to properly judge a coffee shop) and it was so smooth! Just acidic enough but not too much! I also got the hash brown breakfast taco. Nothing special about it - I asked for no cheese but the employee working said that wasn't possible because they didn't make the tacos themselves, they were premade and delivered. The actual taco was kind of flavorless, would pass on the taco :/ Sad that they only have drive thru right now but can't wait to study here once they open up fully. read more

We've never been to a joes and we're excited this one opened up a few blocks from us so we could try it. What a great experience!!! We used the drive thru and first saw their winter specials, I saw marshmallow latte which I was like yes please! I'm one of those people who loves the idea of sweet things but doesn't actually like them that sweet? At Starbucks I'll get one pump of syrup in my latte instead of the 4 they generally put. We asked if they could make it half as sweet and they did without issue and the latte was delicious! My boyfriend wanted to try the turbo since it's their signature drink but again same thing - we prefer things much less sweet. He asked it that was possible and we were told there's actually a drink on their menu that is the turbo but made half as sweet which is great to know for the future and we got it and it's delicious. The service was phenomenal they weren't at all annoyed that we kept asking questions and asking for things less sweet lol and the drinks came out quickly and perfect! First time here and we just grabbed some coffee & tacos in the drive thru. It was super fast & the service was excellent. We got bean & cheese and hash briwn tacos. Both are sumple but executed well. They use black beans that are well seasoned. Good salsa that's nit too spicy. The cortado was hot, dark & a very good pick-me-up. We also git a tiasted marshmallow latte & it was surprisingly not too sweet, but had that lovely campfire charred marshmallow taste. The most standout thing was the service. Super friendly, they were very welcoming, even in the drive thru! Great job, guys! Could you get more food for less money? Maybe, but the prices aren't bad ($4/taco) and the quality is definitely worth it, especially if you're in a hurry. We will definitely be back. read more

Once it was our turn to order, my husband ordered an egg sandwich only to be told they only 4 other kinds of tacos. My husband was a bit confused by the response so he followed up to confirm his understanding. To which the women became visibly annoyed and said I'm not going to repeat myself. She was so rude and condescending we couldn't wait to leave. She then made an announcement to everyone waiting in line " listen up because I'm not going to repeat myself......."Are you kidding me? Was having the worst day ever (my FB was hacked and my business account compromised) and I just wanted some Jo's to feel better ...we love this place! I brought my newborn in tow and our day was instantly made. I got the turbo coffee, hashbrown taco, and bacon taco. Unbelievably good. The best part? The cashiers inside the cafe were so kind and nice to us. They asked how my day was and also noticed my little one and were so sweet to her! Side notes -- it is also amazing to see that Jo's supports LGBTQIA+ as well as Austin Humane Society. Apparently they have a puppy party every first Friday for adoptions and to help donate. Not much of an improvement from the decrepit Coffee Bean that used to squat in this location. Even though Jo's has been open for a while and it's right by where we live, we just made it over there this past weekend, and wow--disappointment of epic proportions. First of all, the space isn't that great. It just doesn't feel welcoming at all and there's a general 'womp womp' feeling in the air. Staff is of the same vibe. But here's what shocked us: all the stuff in the pastry case is from other places! Like, half of it was from Quack's LOL! Why not just go to Quack's which is far superior in EVERY WAY? There were a couple pop-tart things from somewhere else, but everything on display looked limp and unappetizing. Our daughter still got a Quack's chocolate chip muffin. The migas taco that we ordered was so bad that it was laughable: it looked like it had been sitting in someone's car all day and tasted like it too. Microwave much, guys? Iced coffees are fine. Well, the Liz Lambert glory days are over and gone with this Jo's location, we can tell you that. Surprised it's lasted this long already TBH. The only reason we'd ever come here again is for drive-thru coffees ONLY since they've kind of got the neighborhood monopoly on that. read more

The Greek salad I got didn't even have a tablespoon worth of cheese on it. My ice tea tasted like it was made with old coffee grounds. The only reason I'm giving two stars is the employee was nice. I've wanted to try this place for sometime, and made the mistake midweek during a late morning visit. I was greeted by a nice order-taker who said all their breakfast items were about gone. Thus, I ordered a chicken taco from the lunch menu and an unsweet tea. I was appalled when the server immediately turned around, opened a little warming oven behind the counter, and pulled-out a small, foil-wrapped something the size of a tiny cigar that was labelled "chicken taco". Then she went out-of-sight to get the tea, which was 90% ice. Although the taco was only $6, the amount of bird in it was not chicken, rather hummingbird (if that), accompanied by two slivers of red bell pepper and onion. There was some cheese as well, likewise in microscopic portions. And you pay $3 for a small tea only to have to stand in line (again) for a refill because it's all behind the counter. Forget this place. There are many better places for breakfast or lunch tacos -- Taco Deli, Taco Shack, even Taco Cabana -- not that distant.
