I wanted to try Merit's banana pudding matcha but it's only available during summer :(, so I went with a Strawberry Matcha. It was sooo good, the strawberry syrup was perfectly sweetened, not too chunky but also not too liquidy. The matcha on top was bright green, even though they batched made the matcha, it was still good. The inside was pack and very crowded, everyone was working on their laptop or chatting with friends. Parking is a bit hard to find since space is limited. They are releasing their Spring menu tomorrow which has a bluebonnet matcha, you should give it a try!

My favorite thing about Fridays is the ability to have an evening coffee/match without worrying about caffeine messing with my sleep and so I Was super excited for this cheesecake matcha from Merit Coffee. Super spacious place with lots of seats. Staff was friendly and patient as I decided what I wanted. Settled on a cheesecake matcha and LOVED the cold foam. Tasted just like cheesecake frosting For sure on the pricier end- but hey I wasn't super shocked. Cool place!

WOW! Working in the dark is NO FUN, but Merit always brightens my day, this time with a Lavender Haze Latte. Sweet like ube and sing-song along, may even whistle while I work. Thanks to Arman for your kindness and compassion - here's to coffee that merits a brighter day!

A great place to bring your laptop and get a cup of coffee. Merit has many choices to choose from. I know I'm boring, so I got my Americano hot with no cream or sugar and of course the flavor of the beans was delightful. The service is excellent as well. I went to pick up some stickers for a my friend and I was able to get them. Thanks! And the coffee came out quickly. Thanks again! There is plenty of seating with lots of places to charge your laptop. There is also a big bulletin board that has a lot of information. The only negative thing is parking. I got a spot but because the parking lot is shared amongst several businesses and each putting up their own signs it is limited. There is a free parking garage a few hundred yards away, if you don't mind walking.

I really liked this place, the coffee was great. It had plenty of places to sit. Service was quick and friendly. The only thing I didn't like about this spot was that the seating was really dirty. They need to steam clean some of the spots in there to brighten the place up. Just seemed a little dirty because of it. I will definitely come back though, hopefully someone will read this and make that change!

This girl runs on merit! Merit is absolutely my fav coffee shop in Austin. They have the best seasonal drinks and their seasonal matches (imo) are unmatched by any other matcha in Austin. Period. The banana pudding matcha needs to be a year round flavor. That's my only point of contention. Staff is lovely and helpful, cafe is nice to work from, what dreams are made of.

I quite love this spot. I spent a few days doing some remote work there while I was in town. They have a cozy, but productive set up for people who want to hang out or those who needed a productive space to do some remote work. There are several restaurants in the same plaza as well, so it's a good spot! I was visiting the area and needed somewhere different than my hotel to do some remote work. I think Merit Coffee was perfect, especially since I usually get really hungry after doing some work. I ordered a honeysuckle limeade to sip on. It was quite refreshing, but not overwhelming. I had also wanted to grab a little pastry, but nothing was quite getting my attention. They have merch for sale along with an array of coffee selections for homebrews, should you fancy it! They had quite a few people in there working on their laptops, and a couple groups of friends hanging out and talking. It wasn't too loud, though. They also have a few tables with chairs outside the cafe if you'd prefer. I would definitely recommend.

I've always heard a lot of good things about merit, so it's been on my list. But I've also always taken the praise with a grain of salt, because I'm not the biggest coffee fan, and many matchas have disappointed me. But I think merit lives up to the hype! $8 for a drink is still pretty criminal though. I tried the banana pudding matcha and it was maybe one of the best things I've ever drank. I'm a big banana flavor fan and an even bigger matcha fan, so I always fall into the trap of automatically ordering anything banana matcha. And most places kind of suck at balancing the flavors well enough that you can taste both throughout your whole drink. But I think merit has perfected it. It is on the sweeter side though, which I prefer. I also tried a bit of my friend's Tropic Tonic, and I was amazed to find that I liked that one too! Take an espresso, make it sweet and refreshing and that's what you've got!

Only tried the Matcha banana pudding 12oz for $8.50 (includes tax). It was good and what you'd expect from the name. A creamy foamy banana cream on top of a matcha. It definitely overpowers any notes of matcha but it is a tasty drink! I got it half sweet since it is said to be pretty sweet and it was still pretty sweet, so unless you are quite a sweet tooth, I would opt for the half sugar or less!

Merit coffee does a really good job. I do not drink coffee but my friends rave about it. I went to grab a strawberry matcha and saw they had a banana pudding matcha...YOU NEED TO GET THIS DRINK. It tasted like what you would think. It was so good and well crafted. They have good matcha (not an expert on matcha), it tasted like the one I had in Japan. The banana pudding cream was really a great touch. Merit is a great place to catch up with friends or to study. They have a lot of parking in the plaza they are in. The staff is very friendly.

GOSH I LOVE THIS PLACE!! They don't have the cherry blossom matcha here sadly but if you want something just as good i recommend the Strawberry Matcha with strawberry cold foam. I was literally licking my cup :')

Merit dropped their winter drinks and they're so yummy!!! If you're not a sweet coffee drinker I'd definitely ask to have less pumps of flavoring in your latte. For the most part it was flavorful with the spice and sweetness. The matcha was so good, it was a great sweet treat after our brunch. The barista who took our order was sweet and helpful! Merit is always a great place to stop by, for a pick me up.

Saw some pretty good reviews for this place so I wanted to stop by and try it out! On a Saturday afternoon, line was about 15 mins long, but it was moving. Took a bit for drinks to be made too so this might not be the best place if you're in a rush. Iced matcha latte: 1/5, I was really disappointed bc the reviews made it seem like this was really good but all it tasted like was milk with a molecule of matcha. Sucked that it was nearly $7 for just green whole milk Cereal cold brew: 5/5, fiancé loved it and I tried a bit and it was really tasty! Would highly recommend this drink if you're looking for a sweet coffee!

The latte was perfectly delicious- creamy nutty not too sweet and just the perfect temperature. The cheese cake was decadent, sweet, creamy and just a perfect blend. So good! The Baristas were fun to watch create drinks, very precise, professional and caring about doing their best job. Open later than most coffee shops, especially in this deserted part of town. Varied drink menu, both caffeinated and not caffeinated, including refreshers. Nice creative variety of desserts (including a Biscoff cake!) and a kolaches case. At one point the brought some hot baked dessert (looked like a whole coffee cake) out the oven and it smelled like heaven. The bad: Nothing vegan or healthy, not even pre-made cold sandwiches or packaged salads. If you are a little peckish for a healthy snack, this is not the place. The coffees: They have all the regular espresso drinks, and also Turkish coffee and of course Yemeni, their specialty. I had heard great things about Yemeni coffee and was exciting to try it. My first drink, a traditional coffee drink called Jubani ($6) contained coffee but was watery like a tea. It had also ginger and cinnamon. I was not expecting it to be like a tea. I immediately told the cashier I didn't like the drink and would like just an Americano, double shot espresso. I was charged $9 for a 12 oz cup. No cream or sugar, no added flavorings. If I were in charge I wouldn't have charged for this second drink, since it comes at almost zero cost to them and would show good faith and ensure repeat business. Disappointingly, the Americano was also watery and sort of "lemony", but I still drank half while sitting with my friend. I'll say that my friend had some sort of an iced latte that she enjoyed. I might try a second visit and order a Turkish coffee, but I will make sure to have had a full meal before.

While exploring the many museums across the University of Texas campus, a quick caffeine break was needed for my girlfriend and we were overwhelmed by the number of options on The Drag. It makes sense that there are plenty of places to choose from because of the large number of UT students. Everyone needs a little coffee in their lives. One of the highest reviewed ones with a large pool of ratings was Lucky Lab Coffee and after checking a few quick reviews, we decided to give it a chance. Lucky Lab has five locations in Austin (four on campus) and one location in Dripping Springs. The one we were at off The Drag was their flagship. This location serves a little bit of everything from sandwiches to pastries, salad to quiche, and of course, coffee. As we walked inside the flagship, it is easy to notice how tight the space is. There is very little seating inside at their bar, but they make up for it with plenty of shaded outdoor space that is perfect for a nice day. Scanning their menu, we landed on some drinks from their winter menu. I was intrigued by their Pomegranate Rosemary Latte while my girlfriend tried their Ginger Spice Mocha. We got them both iced. First, it is interesting to see the fusion of pomegranate and rosemary in a latte. I was intrigued by those flavors. Their drink sizes are 12 oz, 16 oz, and 20 oz, each adding an additional 50 cents to each upgrade. All milk alternatives cost 1 dollar. It was only a short wait to get our coffees and the cup with the little lab on it was cute. I think specialty drinks have an opportunity to be amazing and one of a kind or the worst drink imaginable. This pomegranate rosemary latte did not fall into either category exactly, but leaned more toward the latter. I love pomegranates and I always appreciate how earthy rosemary can be in a coffee. One of my favorite lattes I have ever had has rosemary in it. This was just not working for me. I shamefully did not finish my coffee. As for my girlfriend, she did not like her ginger spice mocha. I could not imagine gingerbread syrup not working in a mocha, but after trying it myself it was not for me either. It seems like a perfect match, but here the gingerbread is competing with the chocolate and instead of complementing each other they clash. She told me that the flavors were "un-mocha like". She drank less than half of her coffee before tossing it as well. Neither of us wanted to dislike Lucky Lab. They seem well established and I felt like they were trustworthy based on reviews, but I wonder what these previous reviewers were tweaking on or what magical concoction of coffee granted from heaven above they were sipping on because we were distraught by how disappointing these drinks were. I would like to give Lucky Lab Coffee Co the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe the specialty drinks were not up to par with their traditional beverages. However, the almost 30 different syrup options on their wall make me feel they lack a little focus and try too hard to stand out. They lose what makes a coffee good, which is coffee. I want to say I will give them a second shot in the future to see if it was just an off day or a bad beverage pick. Too many shots turns a Lucky Lab into Old Yeller. The lab needs to be put on a leash before I think about returning. RIYL: options

I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.
