    Cheesecake cold foam matcha
    Allie H.

My favorite thing about Fridays is the ability to have an evening coffee/match without worrying about caffeine messing with my sleep and so I Was super excited for this cheesecake matcha from Merit Coffee. Super spacious place with lots of seats. Staff was friendly and patient as I decided what I wanted. Settled on a cheesecake matcha and LOVED the cold foam. Tasted just like cheesecake frosting For sure on the pricier end- but hey I wasn't super shocked. Cool place!

I really liked this place, the coffee was great. It had plenty of places to sit. Service was quick and friendly. The only thing I didn't like about this spot was that the seating was really dirty. They need to steam clean some of the spots in there to brighten the place up. Just seemed a little dirty because of it. I will definitely come back though, hopefully someone will read this and make that change!

This girl runs on merit! Merit is absolutely my fav coffee shop in Austin. They have the best seasonal drinks and their seasonal matches (imo) are unmatched by any other matcha in Austin. Period. The banana pudding matcha needs to be a year round flavor. That's my only point of contention. Staff is lovely and helpful, cafe is nice to work from, what dreams are made of.

I quite love this spot. I spent a few days doing some remote work there while I was in town. They have a cozy, but productive set up for people who want to hang out or those who needed a productive space to do some remote work. There are several restaurants in the same plaza as well, so it's a good spot! I was visiting the area and needed somewhere different than my hotel to do some remote work. I think Merit Coffee was perfect, especially since I usually get really hungry after doing some work. I ordered a honeysuckle limeade to sip on. It was quite refreshing, but not overwhelming. I had also wanted to grab a little pastry, but nothing was quite getting my attention. They have merch for sale along with an array of coffee selections for homebrews, should you fancy it! They had quite a few people in there working on their laptops, and a couple groups of friends hanging out and talking. It wasn't too loud, though. They also have a few tables with chairs outside the cafe if you'd prefer. I would definitely recommend.

Merit dropped their winter drinks and they're so yummy!!! If you're not a sweet coffee drinker I'd definitely ask to have less pumps of flavoring in your latte. For the most part it was flavorful with the spice and sweetness. The matcha was so good, it was a great sweet treat after our brunch. The barista who took our order was sweet and helpful! Merit is always a great place to stop by, for a pick me up.

I've always heard a lot of good things about merit, so it's been on my list. But I've also always taken the praise with a grain of salt, because I'm not the biggest coffee fan, and many matchas have disappointed me. But I think merit lives up to the hype! $8 for a drink is still pretty criminal though. I tried the banana pudding matcha and it was maybe one of the best things I've ever drank. I'm a big banana flavor fan and an even bigger matcha fan, so I always fall into the trap of automatically ordering anything banana matcha. And most places kind of suck at balancing the flavors well enough that you can taste both throughout your whole drink. But I think merit has perfected it. It is on the sweeter side though, which I prefer. I also tried a bit of my friend's Tropic Tonic, and I was amazed to find that I liked that one too! Take an espresso, make it sweet and refreshing and that's what you've got!

Only tried the Matcha banana pudding 12oz for $8.50 (includes tax). It was good and what you'd expect from the name. A creamy foamy banana cream on top of a matcha. It definitely overpowers any notes of matcha but it is a tasty drink! I got it half sweet since it is said to be pretty sweet and it was still pretty sweet, so unless you are quite a sweet tooth, I would opt for the half sugar or less!

Merit coffee does a really good job. I do not drink coffee but my friends rave about it. I went to grab a strawberry matcha and saw they had a banana pudding matcha...YOU NEED TO GET THIS DRINK. It tasted like what you would think. It was so good and well crafted. They have good matcha (not an expert on matcha), it tasted like the one I had in Japan. The banana pudding cream was really a great touch. Merit is a great place to catch up with friends or to study. They have a lot of parking in the plaza they are in. The staff is very friendly.

GOSH I LOVE THIS PLACE!! They don't have the cherry blossom matcha here sadly but if you want something just as good i recommend the Strawberry Matcha with strawberry cold foam. I was literally licking my cup :')

Saw some pretty good reviews for this place so I wanted to stop by and try it out! On a Saturday afternoon, line was about 15 mins long, but it was moving. Took a bit for drinks to be made too so this might not be the best place if you're in a rush. Iced matcha latte: 1/5, I was really disappointed bc the reviews made it seem like this was really good but all it tasted like was milk with a molecule of matcha. Sucked that it was nearly $7 for just green whole milk Cereal cold brew: 5/5, fiancé loved it and I tried a bit and it was really tasty! Would highly recommend this drink if you're looking for a sweet coffee!

Super cute coffeeshop in the neighborhood! My new coffee place, great for taking a stroll and getting work done. It's located in a super active area so I usually stop after a gym class. The best strawberry matcha I've ever had. 10/10! I will say this place is always packed. If you want to grab a table, I would get there super early. Great seating and wifi, it seems a-lot of people come here to get things done.

First time coming here and I decided to try their spring special cherry blossom matcha latte. It was a bit pricey after tax of $8.50. When I got the matcha I was slightly disappointed in the color of the matcha and once I mixed it the color turned grey and I barely tasted any matcha.

Merit is my go to for flavored matchas !!! Their seasonal cherry blossom matcha was sooooo delicious! My go to is their strawberry matcha . The barista there are always very nice :)

That alone made it a great find, but what made the experience even better was discovering that they also had live entertainment on Tuesday night until 11. It turned a simple coffee stop into a really enjoyable evening. I ordered a coffee and a brownie, and while the total was a little on the expensive side, around $15 or $16, it felt completely worth it to me. The quality was there, and everything felt a bit more gourmet than your average coffee shop stop. The brownie was delicious, the coffee was exactly what I wanted, and the overall atmosphere made the price feel justified. Between the free entertainment, the beautiful decor, and the location, it felt like much more than just paying for coffee and dessert. One of the best parts of the experience was the setting. Being right on the water made it especially beautiful at night. You can enjoy your drink, take a walk, look at the lights, and just soak in the scenery. It was the perfect place to unwind after a heavy meal and a long workday. Since I was only in Austin for work and do not live in the area, I was really glad I found somewhere that felt special and relaxing instead of just functional. The staff was also very friendly, which added a lot to the experience. Good service always makes a difference, and here it made the place feel even more welcoming. While exploring the many museums across the University of Texas campus, a quick caffeine break was needed for my girlfriend and we were overwhelmed by the number of options on The Drag. It makes sense that there are plenty of places to choose from because of the large number of UT students. Everyone needs a little coffee in their lives. One of the highest reviewed ones with a large pool of ratings was Lucky Lab Coffee and after checking a few quick reviews, we decided to give it a chance. Lucky Lab has five locations in Austin (four on campus) and one location in Dripping Springs. The one we were at off The Drag was their flagship. This location serves a little bit of everything from sandwiches to pastries, salad to quiche, and of course, coffee. As we walked inside the flagship, it is easy to notice how tight the space is. There is very little seating inside at their bar, but they make up for it with plenty of shaded outdoor space that is perfect for a nice day. Scanning their menu, we landed on some drinks from their winter menu. I was intrigued by their Pomegranate Rosemary Latte while my girlfriend tried their Ginger Spice Mocha. We got them both iced. First, it is interesting to see the fusion of pomegranate and rosemary in a latte. I was intrigued by those flavors. Their drink sizes are 12 oz, 16 oz, and 20 oz, each adding an additional 50 cents to each upgrade. All milk alternatives cost 1 dollar. It was only a short wait to get our coffees and the cup with the little lab on it was cute. I think specialty drinks have an opportunity to be amazing and one of a kind or the worst drink imaginable. This pomegranate rosemary latte did not fall into either category exactly, but leaned more toward the latter. I love pomegranates and I always appreciate how earthy rosemary can be in a coffee. One of my favorite lattes I have ever had has rosemary in it. This was just not working for me. I shamefully did not finish my coffee. As for my girlfriend, she did not like her ginger spice mocha. I could not imagine gingerbread syrup not working in a mocha, but after trying it myself it was not for me either. It seems like a perfect match, but here the gingerbread is competing with the chocolate and instead of complementing each other they clash. She told me that the flavors were "un-mocha like". She drank less than half of her coffee before tossing it as well. Neither of us wanted to dislike Lucky Lab. They seem well established and I felt like they were trustworthy based on reviews, but I wonder what these previous reviewers were tweaking on or what magical concoction of coffee granted from heaven above they were sipping on because we were distraught by how disappointing these drinks were. I would like to give Lucky Lab Coffee Co the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe the specialty drinks were not up to par with their traditional beverages. However, the almost 30 different syrup options on their wall make me feel they lack a little focus and try too hard to stand out. They lose what makes a coffee good, which is coffee. I want to say I will give them a second shot in the future to see if it was just an off day or a bad beverage pick. Too many shots turns a Lucky Lab into Old Yeller. The lab needs to be put on a leash before I think about returning. RIYL: options

Because it's in a Yoga Studio, there isn't much seating (though they did have tables set up outside). The vibe was relaxing and calm. I don't know what scent they had in there, but it smelled nice. I asked the barista to sub oat milk which they were able to do but he informed me that some of the ingredients had dairy (which was fine). I appreciated the disclosure. I was able to drink it without any issues. Because my drink was so small, I decided to order a second one. I went with the Ginger Snap Latte (with oat milk) and it was tasty! I didn't like it as much as the Cajeta Crème Brûlée, but it was really good. I was happy that it was served in a larger cup. The bathrooms were very clean and had feminine hygiene products as well as a basket with bobby pins and hair ties. I love the attention to detail! We were there close to closing time (3 pm). I appreciated that one of the employees let us know that they would be closing without forcing us to get up and leave. It was on par with the gentle and calming vibe of the space.
