Terrible Love is covered in overgrown weeds that obstruct their building and their footprint is a small (approximately 15'x15') space. There is only one opening to the building and it is the check in/ POS space. So for employees to get in and out of the building they need to move the entire counter to shimmy themselves into a small brick building. And yet, They have a line around the corner. It is easy to see why, the team at the service counter and friendly and well-informed. They have great drink suggestions and you can tell they care about their product. Their is a latte for everyone and the seasonal rotation keeps it fresh. If you're not adventurous(or visiting from out of town), just go with their specialty latte: grapefruit brown sugar latte. It is well-balanced and you wont be disappointed. On another note: Logistically, this place is kind of a nightmare, where do the employees go to the bathroom??? Why is everything pushed up next to each other?? How do they pass any type of inspection?? Is there even a fire exit?? I love terrible love! Vibes are high at their cute outdoor space, the coffee shop is nestled in an old building between some pretty flower bushes that you get to take in while waiting in line. The line always moves pretty quickly, the staff is warm and friendly and the coffee & matcha are delicious. I tend to be a no flavor in my coffee kind of gal cause I fear it'll be too sweet. However last time I was there I got their homemade banana syrup in my iced flat white and I have not stopped thinking about it, I'm going back this weekend. I've recently been on a personal mission to find my favorite coffee in ATX as I am a huge coffee lover and drinker! So far Terrible Love has been my favorite coffee! I ordered the Terribbl latte and the Terribbl matcha which's flavor emulates that of a banana bread (banana, chocolate, nilla wafers and a soft top). The latte was the one I personally drank and honestly, I don't have many notes. It was a great mix of good espresso and sweet indulgence, absolutely top notch coffee. I'm not a matcha drinker so that went to my bestfriend who only drinks tea. She gave the matcha a 6.5/10 but again- this is a coffee review so I'm not holding it against terrible love because I'm not sure what defines a good matcha. Surprisingly, Terrible Love is not a food truck, but in a small building. The coffee shop is apparently a local focal point for that neighborhood. One gentlemen with dogs placed his order and after grabbing his coffee, he said, "see you tomorrow". Another woman in the neighborhood said her dog's favorite walk was to the coffee shop. My new favorite coffee shop! Tucked away in the enchanting courtyard of a school building-turned office building. The coffee shop window is in the school's old boiler room. The matcha latte is so good, I got mine with grapefruit syrup which was surprisingly a great combo. Service is friendly and fast, we showed up around 9am on a holiday weekend and had our drinks in minutes. Highly recommend walking the property, seeing the garden and enjoying the courtyard. It is a cute little coffee window in the middle of a neighborhood. A little hard to find, but not impossible since they have signs around pointing to it. We got a chai latte and a matcha latte. For a place named Terrible Love, I don't think it's terrible to love it. All around a solid choice for coffee if it's not too out of the way for you. For the specialty coffee with banana, chocolate, and nilla wafer flavors, it was surprisingly pretty good. I enjoyed that it wasn't TOO much of any one flavor and coffee still came through. I also had the grapefruit one and the grapefruit was also giving the same vibe: recognizable taste but not TOO much of it so that it's bitter.
