I've been wanting to try this place for so long and I'm so glad I finally did The chicken tenders were pretty big and juicy. I got the spicy tenders and they had a spicy aftertaste but they weren't TOO spicy - my nose only sweat a little The spicy chicken paired with the fluffy sweet waffle with syrup was a crazy good combination. I love a good sweet and savory combo The french fries were gorgeous. Thicc, crisp outside, soft inside, and some yummy ass seasoning They were great on their own but once I dipped them in the longhorn sauce ... GAME OVER. ugh so good. Sandro got the chicken sandwich and it was just as good. The brioche bun was toasted and it came with ranch and pickles (he asked for no pickles though) He also added some of the longhorn sauce to his sandwich and it tasted great. I don't know what they put in the longhorn sauce to make it so good and addicting... but that sauce HITTTTSSSS Last but not least, the mac&cheese was SUPER creamy and did not last very long because it was very tasty I love Longhorn Chicken. We got great service and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. They get 5 chefs kisses from me ‍ read more

Summary: great place to binge eat after a long day! Food is the perfect compliment to a late night! FOOD: chicken tenders, waffle, and Mac and cheese combo is an absolute must. It's the perfect meal to pick you right back up! Decently priced and worth every penny! However, they may run out before closing-- then I'd recommend the halal truck in that same food truck alley! SERVICE: They're good people who work hard, give a tip it won't kill you, but it'll make their day! Cheers read more

Longhorn Chicken - Three spicy chicken tender combo with Mac and cheese - Food Trucks Near Me - Austin, Texas

Came across this place randomly and I don't really regret it. The chicken was SUPER juicy and the outside crispy! The waffle was crispy and light. The Longhorn sauce was really good too! I'm not a HUGE fried foods person, definitely need to be in the mood for it. The employs were super nice and tue service was fast! Definitely worth and meets the college food vibes! read more

This place was okay. Probably would not eat it ever again though. The chicken was super dry and burnt. I tried using different sauces to make it less dry but honestly, they didn't really help much. The Mac and cheese looked good but just tasted like normal boxed Mac and cheese. I didn't even eat the waffle because it was kind of soggy. The service was nice though so that's a plus. read more

Longhorn Chicken - Chicken strips - Food Trucks Near Me - Austin, Texas

The employees are super friendly, and the spicy chicken tenders were very flavorful. However, the fries were soggy and under seasoned, and overall I don't think it's a great value for your money unfortunately. Still an alright option for late-night hot chicken as a student. read more

The workers here are really nice and I like the area it's in because there's just so many food trucks around and it's convenient. I tried this place before and I remember that it wasn't bad but when I went to try it the waffles were soggy and the chicken was over cooked and way too salty. I thought the sides were good though I just couldn't finish the chicken. read more

Living in west campus, this is one of my go-to places for a late night snack. I typically order the chicken tenders, and they always come out hot and delicious. The chicken here is pretty flavorful and definitely stands out from other fried chicken chains like Canes. Although the tenders are a little on the drier side, the crispiness of the outside and the flavor make up for it. The plates come with seasoned fries (which are great) and half a waffle, which perfectly compliment the chicken. The portion sizes are also pretty generous for the price as well which is a bonus. Orders here come out pretty fast for a food truck, and there is plenty of outdoor seating in the area. They are also open super late at night, which makes it the perfect place for regretful stress eating. read more

Chicken and waffles, the ultimate "I don't care about my cholesterol and want a heart attack induced from filling food" meal. I was super excited to swing around at 1 AM, ready to get an experience with juicy chicken and flavourful food, but it was just okay. I got the spicy chicken tenders, fries, and a lovely waffle. The waffle: Was great! Exactly what you want in a delicious waffle. Fluffy as ever on the inside and a nice hard crunch on the outside. Honestly wish I had more of it! The fries: Your typical fries, nothing spectacular. The tenders: This is where this place lost me. The spiciness was fine but the dryness of the chicken was insane. Was like tearing away at old rubber. The inside was also very bland. If I didn't have ketchup to counter the blandness, it felt like I was eating a piece of unsweetened gum. Next time I'll get the fried chicken instead, but for me the experience was just A-OKK. One good thing about this place is the amount of food. Its a ton of food for under $10. read more

I was so disappointed when my husband told me they didn't have the mac n cheese, wings or any of the appetizers ready. I couldn't believe it. What type of food service is this? What am I suppose to order-a waffle and chicken strips only? I will not be coming back to a food place that is not ready to serve. read more

I was so disappointed. There is little to no actual crunchy crust on the tenders. It's as if they were simply rolled in flour before frying -- and if you've ever made fried chicken you know that won't do it. Crust on fried chicken should be thick, and should separate just a bit from the meat. This requires either a batter, or alternating dips in flour and egg (not just a flour dredge). There was also very little in the way of flavor. The chicken wasn't really overcooked, just slightly dry. And very bland. The waffle was also a letdown. Soft, limp, and spongy; none of the crispness that a waffle should have. On a positive note, the sides were great. Nicely seasoned fries, and super-good mac & cheese. read more

Service: 2 | Quality: 2 | Setting: 3 | Value: 2 Must get: supposedly their fried chicken I swung by this place one night at about 1am, craving some fried chicken. However to my disappointment, a lof of their menu was sold out. But instead of telling us that, the guy working there gave us a terse "no, we don't have that." So, I settled on the 3 strip combo. This box is a good size, but even for $3 I wouldn't buy it again. The waffle tasted like your generic continental breakfast waffle. The chicken was dry and sparsely seasoned, and same for the fries. I might go back for the actual fried chicken drumsticks...but with this many other options around, we'll have to see. read more

Longhorn Chicken - 3 strips combo - Food Trucks Near Me - Austin, Texas

Longhorn Chicken is wonderful! Their tenders are juicy and flavorful, the wings spicy and tasty, and the waffles are crunchy, crispy, and pair perfectly with the chicken strips! The service is always cheerful, and they have a nice outdoor seating area. This is definitely an AMAZING halal restaurant! read more

In all honesty, I think the food is great for a late night munch as a college student. I probably won't be returning since I no longer live in the area, and I don't find the food to be quality enough to make the commute worth it. Like I said though, I highly recommend it if you're a college student on campus. They're very fast and open late at night. The food truck area that it is located in is inviting as well! read more

This is the most interesting fried chicken you'll ever have in your life. It's not what you expect that's for sure. The price is right - let's start with that. The amount of food you get is huge for what you pay. The fries are also well seasoned and plentiful, so you won't leave hungry. The waffle is your pretty standard continental breakfast belgian waffle with some pretty generic syrup if you're into the whole chicken and waffles thing. But we care about the chicken most of all and it's interesting....they smoke it before they fry it, effectively twice cooking it. The breading is light and thin, the chicken is juicy too, but at the end of the bite, I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to feel? It's taking two good concepts (smoked chicken and fried chicken) and mashing them together and you end up with something neither here nor there. Smoky flavor isn't strong enough to say its bbq. Chicken isn't crispy enough and breading flakes off way too much to be good fried chicken either. So you're stuck in this middle space where the collagen in the chicken is clearly broken down and tender but without the satisfaction of either food group. When you think fried chicken especially, you want crunchy, crisp, slightly greasy chicken - not soggy and smoky. So I would probably come back and try the chicken tenders, but smoked fried chicken just ain't cutting it for me. read more

the best food truck ever. Best Mac n cheese as well. Also, great service they love jokes.

Been a long time customer and west campus dweller. I love this place because you get EXACTLY what you pay for (and more -- bc the portions are generous). The chicken is consistently good (go for the spicy chicken, w honey mustard) along with the customer service. Usually, the food comes out in 5 min, but, y'know, on thirsty Thursdays when all the Chads and Stacys come out... wait time is a little longer bc the lines are long (good problem to have). Oh, and all the chicken is halal. Props to a small business making big changes. read more

Longhorn Chicken - 3 pc spicy chicken tenders with Mac & cheese - Food Trucks Near Me - Austin, Texas

Came here after some friends recommended it. Got the fried chicken w/ waffles with sides of Mac and cheese and Cole slaw. I didn't realize the fried chicken was smoked with some batter over it, but the chicken had no flavor and just tasted burnt. Perhaps, this is what smoked chicken is like and I'm just not a fan, but it wasn't a very enjoyable experience. It didn't help that the waffle was sad and soggy :/ The only saving Grace was the Cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Those were pretty good. read more

I ordered the honey butter chicken biscuit. The woman running the truck is lovely and very conversational. The food took just over 5 minutes to come out. The chicken was cooked well and the ratio of biscuit to chicken to syrup was perfect. $5.36 for one serving (two biscuits and two long chicken strips). The biggest letdown was the biscuit. It was crumbly and had the mouth feel of cotton. No taste to it whatsoever. If the biscuits were changed, it would have complimented the chicken better. read more

I ordered the (Spicy Chicken) Tender meal with a side of mashed potatoes. The waffle was pretty cooked and tasted pretty good and the mashed potatoes were flavorful and creamy. However, The chicken I got was dry and overcooked. The breading had no flavor except that of bland heat. I'm not a fried chicken expert but the breading could've used some salt. I paid about 10 dollars for 3 tenders, a half waffle and a side. It's portion size is good but the flavor was just not there. read more

The chicken is always a little overcooked but everything else is spot on and super tasty.

In my second visit to this food truck this weekend, I noticed some profound improvements compared to the first time I visited. The chicken tenders and waffles I ordered had just the right amount of moisture to pair with the crispy texture. I ordered my tenders spicy and they delivered the kick I was expecting. The waffles were soft and carried that semi-sweet flavor that goes so nicely with spicy chicken. I was finally able to also try their Coleslaw, which goes great with pretty much all their food thanks to the base ingredients being Honey mustard and bbq sauce instead of some greasy mayo. Their crispy chicken sandwich featuring three tenders in a brioche was also on point, especially when the aforementioned Coleslaw is added to the classic ranch and pickle recipe. Mac n cheese and fries are average, so you won't miss skipping on those. For dipping, I remain a fan of their Asian Firecracker sauce as it has that ideal sweet n spicy flavor balance to tingle the tastebuds. Prices are reasonable and customer service is decent too, as my order was taken and prepared efficiently without issue. Feel free to give them a try, especially if you happen to be near UT. read more

I was craving some spicy fried chicken so I ordered their smoked chicken entree which comes with waffles and fries. The wait time was super long though! There was only one guy taking orders and also cooking. The seasoning on the fries was great and the order was made fresh! However, the chicken was super disappointing was one of the worst chickens I have had in my life. Maybe I am not used to smoked chicken but it looked burnt and tasted burnt. Overall, not worth the $8 that I dropped on this meal. Maybe I will get the tenders next time or try the other food trucks in the area to satisfy my late night cravings! read more

I think that it's priced well for how much food you get. The waffles are solid, the fries are great, and the chicken is... ok? Sometimes dry, mediocre flavor. Cane's serves better tenders than these. I'd say it's worth at least one try though. read more

Got the fried chicken and it just had a lot wrong with it. The batter wouldn't stick to the chicken making it a mess to eat, it had random hard chunks that were inedible, and ultimately biting in revealed the chicken to be very undercooked/pink. The meal looked like a good value first off, but it actually didn't have much going for it in the end. read more

The guy who runs Longhorn Chicken, Eddie, is one of the best people you will meet. He's always friendly, as helpful as can be, and makes the experience so welcoming! On to the food, don't get anything other than the chicken strips or chicken sandwich in my opinion. It's their specialty for a reason! The chicken is smoked and fried, so it's an awesome flavor combo. The chicken texture is off and odd sometimes, so just be warned, but the food is AMAZING most of the time. For the sandwich, I ask for no pickles, add ranch and coleslaw for that crunch. The fries ARE THE BEST FRIES I'VE EVER HAD! I literally come here just for them and crave them ALL THE TIME! Definitely check out cold cookie company for dessert, as Eddie owns that too and it's AWESOME! read more

I ate here on a whim because I was ravenous after staying late at swing dance and was driving aimlessly through west campus looking for something open. Uhhh so this humble food truck is the best chicken and waffles I have ever had in my life. I got the spicy tenders with fries and a waffle (they ran out of mash because they were so busy and I was there pretty late!!) Happy accident! Because those fries were SO GOOD. Took a bite and I suddenly understood the perfect crunch-to-fluff ratio all French fries strive for but so often fall short of. Also I love the spices they use on the fries! Waffle was fluffy and buttery. Chicken was crispy and spicy. Both are great dipped in the syrup. The price was great. Cheaper than pluckers. Also they're halal, to whom it may concern. Eat here. Bring your friends and sit outside, or eat alone in your car like I did because I am an animal. I don't know your life. read more
