Service is great.. staff is very attentive & friendly. The location is chill but most importantly the food is banging!! You don't find many places now a days that cook from the heart. They sure do!

Both of our meals along with the dipping broth for the Mofongos and the two side sauces. The portion sizes were epic!

The boy and I came here for lunch last Sunday and were blown away. The owner of the truck was working the menu and was super friendly and helpful as we decided what we wanted to order. I ordered the Chicharron de Pollo with a side of rice, potato salad, and mofongos. This is the fried chicken dish but it isn't battered like American fried chicken. However, it was still crispy and delicious! The mofongos (mashed plantains) were crazy good. They had little bits of chicharron inside them and came with a dipping broth. Finally, the potato salad added a cold, creamy element that contrasted the crispy chicken and garlicky mofongos. My boyfriend ordered the Pernil with a side of rice, yuca, and maduros. The pernil is slow roasted pork that's loaded with tasty seasonings. It was crazy tender too. The yuca was cooked perfectly. The maduros were nothing short of unreal. They make their own maduros so the cook and flavor of these sweet plantains is really on point. We also tried the two sauces they offered. One was creamy and went well with the yuca. The other had a good kick to it and went well with EVERYTHING. :) Do yourself a favor and have a bite at this food truck.

Every time I've wanted to eat here they're closed on those days, so when my friends wanted to eat out, I convinced them to come to El Coqui and no regret whatsoever (although the food coma afterwards may disagree with me. The owner is super nice too and was nice to hear his passion for his culture and exuberance at me being familiar with Puerto Rican food. It definitely translates into his food. We ordered a lot to sample, but I would definitely get the pernil and the tostones. Smashed fried plantains that are lightly salted are delicious, as is the tender chunks of pork that are the pernil. In the platter, they come with potato salad, which was creamy and had chunks of egg in there, along with rice and peas, which complimented the meat well. Chicharron con pollo is their take on fried chicken, and the bone in meat is crispy and salty and delicious. Empanadas are on the blonder side, but goes great with the sauce they provide you. Can't really go wrong, but they are definitely masters of pork, so I would recommend the pernil. Definitely would also come back to try the mofongo. Cash only!

We stopped by The Traveler Collections for dinner one evening during a recent trip to…read moreFredericksburg. What an amazing little place. The restaurant is located inside an old house along Main Street. The front room is 1/2 lounge area, 1/2 dining room, plus the bar area. There are two side dining rooms, the "green" room and the "red" room. Even the bathroom is cool! Great vibe and good music throughout the evening. Luckily, we got there early, and we're able to walk in without a reservation and sit at the bar. The restaurant was short-staffed, "staff on vacations" we were told, quite a few customers had difficulty enduring the service. They needed several other people there! Our bartender/waiter was Harper, and he did a fantastic job that evening, even though the place got really busy. The craft cocktail selection is extensive and very imaginative, many fun and exciting concoctions. We decided to start with The Navigator and a Banana Old Fashioned, both of which were delicious. The Navigator is a gin cocktail, with citrus and honey, a dash of grapefruit bitters and egg whites. Quite a tasty treat! The Banana Old Fashioned is a rum mixture, with some allspice, banana liqueur and walnut bitters. Delicious! We were also served a small amuse bouche of plantain soup that was a great first taste of things to come. After discussing the food menu with Harper, our food choices began with the duck spring rolls and the truffled burrata. The duck was perfectly prepared, and the spring rolls fried hot, not greasy at all. A side sweet and sour sauce on the side. The burrata ball was served well chilled, truffle pearls on top, drizzled with a nice balsamic reduction and served with thin garlic toast. Both dishes rate: amazing! Round two of cocktails included a Floating Petals, a vodka drink with very herbaceous notes, and the Volcano Ashes, a tequila/coconut/orange blend with black lava sea salt sprinkled on top. Both drinks were so good! We split the crispy chicken entree, a fried chicken breast atop risotto, covered with prosciutto and smoked gouda cheese. Delicious, but a bit salty for our taste. Almost every ingredient had a salt component, and the cumulative effect was the saltiness. For dessert we chose the Tierrita, a parfait glass filled with chocolate mousse and cookie crumbles... sweet and tasty, topped with a huge strawberry! A glass of local Texas Sangiovese accompanied the dessert and was a good pairing! So many other good things on the menu, we'd definitely go back to try more, cocktails and food! Recommend The Traveler Collections!

Only recently found out this location had been on the show, so my wife and I thought "why not?" Bottom line: I'm usually underwhelmed by the places Guy features on DDD. However, I wasn't this time. We were pleasantly surprised by everything. Got lucky our server was Puerto Rican and could walk us through some different items and words on the menu. She was a gem. I knew NOTHING about Puerto Rican food before last Wednesday night. Started with the plantain chips and dip: we ate the whole thing. Wonderful. Highly recommend. My entree was the El Condado steak with arroz con gandules and savory beans. Highly recommend, although I found my steak pretty damn tough to cut and undercooked. Like, seriously pinker than I'd like considering I ordered it medium. My wife ate one of the Mofongo dishes. Everything was very good. Wish my steak had been cooked more and that service hadn't trailed off toward the end, but I still think the whole package is worth that fourth star. Great date night location.
