I came here on a Sunday afternoon and was seated right away for a party of two. I ordered the pho dac biet #21 ($9.75) which was pretty good. The soup base was slightly sweet which was nice. There was a good amount of meat along with the noodles. The portions were pretty good and I was really full when I finished my bowl. I thought the price is pretty good as well for the amount of food that you get. They have a ton of other types of food like curries and hot pot which I don't see often at Vietnamese restaurants. They have a lot of vegetarian options, like probably just as many vegetarian options as non-vegetarian options. I think that's really cool because I don't see that much at all. I haven't tried many pho places in Seattle but this place is a good place to go. read more

I LOVE square lotus. Environment: The environment is standard, its what you would expect. Lighting is a bit on the dimmer side but that's no problem during the day time. Not sure at night since I only usually go in at lunch. Dark wood tables furnish the establishment and a few booths are available. Heads up that they don't normally like to re arrange tables for parties. So if there's no table for your group of 'x' you'd need to wait til the same size party leaves. Food: The food is SO GOOD. I've ordered a few of the lunch specials, like the curry, but my all time 98% of the time order is the Spicy Beef Broth soup aka Bun Bo Hue. It's probably the best on the east side of WA. I don't think I would say that it's really authentic, but for an Americanized bun no hue, it is 5/5. I also love their Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee. Both are a must after my meal as dessert. The Thai tea is a lot on the sweeter side and the Vietnamese coffee taste almost like a chocolatey coffee. Service: The service is so amazing.my coworker and I used to come here a few times and she orders the same thing (obviously bun bo hue) with a few requests. After the first few times, they figured it out and they just give her a nod and we go to our seats and wait for our order! Also I would advice going on right when they open for lunch to get a table right away, otherwise you'd have to write your name on a waitlist and wait to be seated. Overrated completely. I believe the high overall rating comes from a lot of vegetarians and vegans which is fine for them, but not passable for carnivores. The simple lemongrass vermicelli bowl was insulting to Viet cuisine. The chicken had good flavor at least, but the pickled veggies and rice noodles with fish sauce were bland. Anyone that knows Viet places that serve "egg noodles" with sautéed veggies and choice of meat has an expected outcome...instead I received basic stir fried lo mein noodles. If I wanted that I would've went to a fast food Chinese place. Service was slow for a slow weekend late lunch. The cuisine of this place seems watered down for the demographic of the area. We had ordered Vegetarian Tofu Pho, Chicken Pho, Iced Coffee, veg fried spring rolls and Chicken Satay Skewers. The appetiser Veg Fried Spring Rolls were double fried so they turned out a bit bitter and oily. The Vegetarian Fried Tofu Pho was amazing and super satisfying to tummy. The broth was very flavorful and served super hot. You might want to add additional Hot Sauce to adjust spice. Pho had non- sticky noodles with fresh veggies and bean sprouts on side. Square Lotus makes me feel sad that I don't live in Bellevue. This place is great! My family is vegetarian and we miss Vietnamese food so much. There is an entire page of vegetarian options so I was intrigued straight away. We had V14 Special Veggie Noodle Bowl (yummy) and V15 Veggie Lemongrass Noodle Bowl w/ faux Chicken (yummy yummy). When the pho finally served, I asked if there will be bean sprouts to go with them, the server said no but will give it me anyways. Grilled pork noodle bowl: Pork was tasty and it had a good amount of noodles/vegetables but I didn't like how there were large clumps of unseparated noodles at the bottom. It also wasn't served with the usual lime and the sauce lacked flavor. I order this dish at most Vietnamese restaurants and Green Leaf in Chinatown does a better job. 3. Square Lotus Curry: Not recommended. Poorly executed. Ordered 4 stars spicy and then came to realize that this white curry sauce was not normal. It tasted like coconut milk. The kitchen basically forgot to add the curry paste so it was coconut milk with meat/vegetables. No extra charge for rice! The server also never came by to ask us how the food was otherwise we would have brought up this issue with the curry. Finally a proper vermicelli bowl in Seattle!! I've been searching for YEARS and they disappointed me until now. I had their signature bowl, though I requested extra crushed peanuts and limes. The pork was fresh and warm, the shrimp had a subtle flavor, which is impressive for any shrimp not from the gulf. The egg roll was the crispy hot balance of meat and veggies and wrapper I was hoping for, and the fish sauce was almost spot on for my memories. The pickled veggies are delicious (and bonus, as they weren't pickled where I came from) and next time I'll ask for more of those. I've tried so many other places hoping for the fresh grilled meat, tangy fish sauce and crisp balance of veggies Square Lotus offers. We also sampled the spring rolls with sliced pork still warm in the wrap my honey appreciated, as my shrimp preference is not one he would eat. They were nice, though the wrap could be softer/wetter. It was kind of too chewy/tough. He tried fried rice with a one spice and it was way too bland. We will doctor it at home. Solid Vietnamese food in the Factoria area. We came here for dinner and the place was packed! I had no idea how popular Square Lotus was. I had wanted to try it for awhile since I drive pass the shopping centre it's located in every time I visit Factoria Mall, and am glad I finally had. For Vietnamese food with an extensive menu, this is a great option to have for the area. We ordered the Mango Salad, the House Special Noodle Bowl and the Ginger Salmon. In fact with the Ginger Salmon, our server recommended it after we attempted to order the Salmon and Shrimp Curry and she warned us that it was very sweet, as it's made with a lot of sugar for the curry sauce. That turned us off, so after inquiring for a lighter seafood option, she mentioned that the Ginger Salmon was a good option...which it was. It didn't take long for us to get our food. Everything came out as it was ready. My favorite of the three items we ordered was the Mango Salad, by far. Disclaimer: My favorite fruit is mango! Therefore, the amount of mango that you get with this salad is TONS, which I was, obviously, a huge fan of. The shreds of mango slices were so fresh and chilled, and best of all - was naturally sweet. So with that said, the house sauce was very complementary, providing a salty balance to the sweet and fruity flavor. I also liked the poached shrimp with, which was light, as it should be. And the crunchy peanut topping added a nice texture to the overall salad! I recommend the Mango Salad here at Square Lotus! Ginger Salmon was good and portion was good for two peeps. I especially liked how much veggies you get with this dish, including the sauteed bell peppers in the ginger sauce. Noms! Salmon was perfectly cooked. The House Special Noodle Bowl was average, as it was a standard vermicelli bowl with a pork and shrimp skewer with an overly fried egg roll. I'd skip this and try a different dish, especially since the menu is so large here with a variety of offerings. Overall, Square Lotus is a good Vietnamese restaurant in the Factoria area with fast and friendly service and a menu that will appease anyone. This place has vegetarian and non vegetarian options! I got the Stir Fried Vietnamese Rice Noodles with chicken and the portion size for the price is so worth. I'm so used to seeing higher prices that I was pleasantly surprised. We came in at around noon on a Saturday and the place was busy but we still got in without a wait. My only complaint is that they asked for a spice level 1-5 and I got 3, but couldn't taste any spice at all. They do however have Sriracha upon request. read more

Reviews were spot on with this Vietnamese restaurant in a little corner of a strip mall in the Factoria area. We went on a hike in Redmond and were starving after our trek so we decided to try out this wonderfully rated place, which wasn't too far from where we were. I am just beyond happy we did. It completely hit the spot and filled/refueled us. This is not just a pho restaurant. They do have pho offerings (including salmon and shrimp pho which just sounds delectable), but they also have an extensive vegetarian menu, which I appreciate having been vegetarian for 10+ years. As well as several fried rice dishes, soups, noodle dishes and vermicelli bowls! The latter excited me beyond belief because it's hard to find a Vietnamese restaurant in our neck of the woods that have vermicelli bowls. I adore them. The one I ordered was just heavenly. Husbands pho was so flavorful and hearty. Our spring rolls were so fresh. Ugh. ALL SO GOOD!!! The atmosphere is also very nice and inviting. It's relatively small and cozy and was quite busy on a Sunday afternoon. Our meals with appetizer came to $29 before tip so it's very affordable as well.
