Their spring rolls had a nice crunch, coming from the egg roll flakes, but I wasn't impressed with their peanut sauce. She was so happy as it had 2 full pages of vegetarian options. We hadn't seen each for close to 4 years. We were chatting so much it took us awhile to order. The people working there were so nice and patient with us. Everything seemed super fresh, the place seemed really clean. I had the ginger Salmon and it was one of the best dishes out I've ever had. My friend ordered a meal and the crepe appetizer. The appetizer came with 2 and she didn't eat the second one. She was told next time she could order a half order. Not sure just on that or if others so may want to ask. We got there when they opened and by the time we left I don't think there was an empty seat. I've very recently decided to increase plants decrease meat, seafood, sugar and carbs in my diet. This is a great place to start as it has almost as large of a vegetarians menu as it does standard cuisine. Both choices are great. Finally tried this restaurant after driving by it for years. We came for a later dinner and the restaurant was still busy around 8pm. Staff is really friendly and we received our food really quickly. The have a regular menu and vegetarian menu with lots of options. We ordered the Pho Dac Biet and Vegetarian Vietnamese crepe. The size of the pho is equivalent to a large at other restaurants. The broth was tasty and not too salty. The vegetarian crepe had tofu and beansprouts as the filling and was not too oily. You receive two in one order and lettuce on the side to wrap it with. Firstly, the phone number linked through Yelp does not connect, nor does the google map number. Weird, not sure why but has happened both times. Otherwise- they taste good, but pretty basic. Huge portion, four pieces per order for under $10. 1star. The peanut sauce is thin and watery, not my favorite. The rolls only contain lettuce, rice noodles, shrimp and a bit of basil. No! In addition it has fried crispy egg roll wrapper bits which I do not like at all and is not included on the menu description. It's simple, fine, I guess. Fresh for sure. 1star. Frankly I could not tell the difference between veggie chicken or veggie beef but all is good. The flavors were good and it does the trick of hitting the spot after a long day. Such good value! We visited Square Lotus for the first time tonight and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and friendly staff there. I had the duck noodle soup, which came with an entire side dish of sliced duck, and their short ribs with rice were also super tasty and came with a good amount of meat. Pleasantly surprised by this place! This is my first time trying Vietnamese cuisine in the greater Seattle area and I have to say I was impressed by the price + portions for the lunch specials! The place has a variety of food to choose from (great for vegetarians too as they have a whole menu dedicated to veggie). This is my family's favorite Vietnamese place and we usually get from here when relatives insist only on eating traditional food (you know the type lol). Pork chop was really good, and qlso enjoyed the duck noodle soup. The broth was nice and tasty, but I think the duck or its sauce could have been seasoned a little stronger. I usually get the sweet and sour catfish soup here and its *mwah* Staff was really attentive. We always had lemon water. It was clean inside, but gotta say the airflow is not good. Always great to come here with a big group. We got to try a lot more dishes. Appetizers - tropical roll, egg roll, chicken skewers, and Vietnamese soup. All were good, especially the Vietnamese soup. It was delicious and flavorful -- it had a bit of heat (reminded me of Tom Yum soup), a variety of vegetables, and the pineapple pieces were a nice surprise. We ordered House fried rice, mango salmon, catfish hot pot, Vietnamese rice noodles, square lotus curry, sweet and sour chicken, and lemongrass beef. We ate family style. Everything was good! The dish that stood out for us was the catfish hot pot -- the sauce was yummy! The Mango salmon was another dish that stood out for me. The Square Lotus curry was my least favorite. It had too much coconut milk for my taste. It was still good but it didn't stand out like the other dishes. Service was good -- servers were attentive. I've been meaning to find a Bun Bo Hue place since I moved to Washington and here it is!! This place is amazing. Coming from a Vietnamese background, I grew up eating the very home-y spicy soup. This place hit the spot. The soup was full of flavor, they had Ja (pork sausage) and pork balls in the soup. It reminds me of the best places in LA. Definitely my go-to Vietnamese restaurant on the Eastside. They have alll the dishes you could want, and are an amazing option for vegetarian/vegan peeps. I wouldn't say they are the absolute best for every dish they put out, but consistently very good, which is better than many other places. Their pho is a standard, but they also have great fried rice, grilled meats, and Bun Bo Hue - which isn't found at a lot of places, or at least not done at a decent level. The restaurant is pretty nice (not super fancy but not casual either) and the prices are not the cheapest for Vietnamese. However, they were pretty fair. I would recommend sizing up on the pho. Because I like their food and fake meat, and my boyfriend likes spending only about $20 for a filling vegan/gluten-free meal for two. I usually order their sweet & sour "chicken" and he usually gets something different, and occasionally the employee even lets us order "whatever the chef wants to make, as long as it's gluten-free and vegan."
