Tofu sesame noodles
Roshni A.

I ordered a takeaway from the Facing East in Bellevue and I didn't have a ton of veggie options to choose from. I know they're mostly known for their meat dishes but as a vegetarian I had very few options. The veggie wontons tasted okay, not the best ones I've had and the sesame noodles I felt, lacked enough seasoning. The food was okayish. The place is pretty small but the person helping me with the order was very kind and helpful!

Heard great things about this restaurant and that it's been one of the OG Taiwanese restaurants in Bellevue. Gave it a try and was not very impressed by the food. For example, the chicken in the three cup chicken was a little chewy. With so many options in Bellevue, I'd probably go somewhere else for this type of food

LG Spiced Pork Stew Over Rice

I was having my windshield replaced next door and decided to walk down to Facing East for lunch. I couldn't believe that the large spiced roast pork stew was under $10. I think it's important to point out that it was well spiced, it was not spicy (caveat I like a lot of spice). First bite was delicious, but needed some chili crisp to amp up the heat a little. The order came out quick, the pork was precisely as described in the menu, and for under $10 a real bargain.

Extremely friendly staff, and great Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Keep in mind they are mostly takeout only, they only have a single table there for someone to use outside. Extra noodles were only $2, which was a great deal. Broth was very flavorful, noodles were tender, and beef was marinated and had a nice somewhat spicy kick to it. Would recommend the pig ear also. Will definitely be stopping by again if I'm in the area. Thanks again!

Pork Chop with Rice

We haven't been to Facing East since before COVID and we learned that they changed location and only do take-out now. We ordered several dishes and most of them were tasty: large spiced Pork over rice, five spiced chicken, five spiced beef shank (cold dish), pork chop over rice, and Hakka style chow fun. The beef shank cold dish was just ok, and the beef was too chewy for us. Pork chop was a little hard and overcooked. Other than that, we loved the rest, especially the five spiced chicken (which I forgot to take a picture of, sigh!). The Hakka style chow fun was also delicious, perfectly cooked. We will come back for more take out for sure.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while! The online ordering process was very easy and our food was ready for pick-up when we arrived. I was pleasantly surprised that they now have a couple of small tables outside their establishment to eat at. Taiwanese Pork Burger: I loved how the peanuts tasted with the flavor of the pork and pickled vegetables. It was a lovely couple bites of food, and I would order this again. Large Spiced Pork Stew over Rice: I really enjoyed the flavor of the spiced pork, very delicious! There was plenty of rice to soak up all the flavor goodness as well. While there isn't a lot of "food" other than rice in this dish, it is pretty worth it for the cheap price. Beef Noodle Soup: There is a lot of beef in this dish, enough to share between 2 people. The noodles weren't quite cooked through though, there are still parts of the noodles where the strands didn't separate when initially cooked and parts were still relatively dry/uncooked -- even after soaking them in the soup for a while. Additionally, for people with very low spice tolerance, the "no spicy" level of spice might not be low enough for you. The flavor of the soup and beef was delicious, though!

Noodles with soy sauce

Facing East makes good food that's just about great. As of June 2024 they operate as a take out only location in a semi industrial strip. There's only a couple of tables outside their door, and those tables only seat two people. The popular dish is the pork hamburger using sweet pork and a bao bun. It's good, but there's brown sugar literally burying the pork and dusted everywhere in the container - it's too sweet. The also popular five spice chicken is fantastic! It's perfectly fried, juicy, and a delightful order that just needs a proper dipping sauce to set it over the top. The simple noodles with soy sauce is a pleasant but forgettable meal. Try some of the pre packaged meals near their counter for good value purchases. When you order they say they'll text me, but somehow they forgot to do that for me. I'd return but try new items.

This spot doesn't have space inside to dine in. However, there are a couple of tables outside where you can sit and eat. Service is quick and friendly! We ordered the following: Taiwanese pork burger: DELICIOUS. The pork is so tender and perfectly cooked. I love the sweet peanut crumble on it! 5 spice beef wrap: I think this needed a bit more sauce, but it was goodl Steamed pork and vegetable wontons: Really good! The wonton skin is al dente and these are pretty big!

Great take out place. Hidden in an industrial strip mall between upholstery shop and windshield repair/detail. I ordered the Tofu with veggies, egg and pickled vegetable, 5 spice chicken and the hamburger. I ordered Taiwanese burger to try since I read it to be rated #8 in the state. I did not like the burger. I'm willing to try it without the peanuts to see what the hype is.

Beef Noodle Soup - good!

I kept forgetting to Yelp this place when I was back home in Seattle! So, here goes... Surprise, surprise - this place has turned into a take out only restaurant! I grew up eating at their sit-down restaurant, so you can imagine my surprise when Google maps took me to their new take out location. I have to say, the way it was set up was pretty cute. It's a set up similar to Asian takeouts. On your left, they have refrigerated shelves with bento like boxes, snacks, and small plates. Here is what we got: Spiced pork, stew over rice ($6.95) - it was good! Maybe slightly on the salty side, but in general the pork was soft and tender. Beef noodle soup ($15.50) - really pretty good. The beef was soft (I've had softer ones though) and the broth was quite flavorful. We got them with thick noodles which made it an extra hearty soup! I would get it again. Sautéed rice vermicelli ($13.95) - really good! I wish there were slight more dried shrimp, but that is a personal preference. Pork and veggies were tasty. All in all, I think this is a good and solid place for take out!

The quality has dropped quite a lot recently. I usually ordered beef noodle soup. The meat was mostly 70% + tendons , feel like it's was just bad parts of beef. This was the photo of the one I just ordered today

They only do take out and can order online. The food tasted home cooked and order was ready within 20 minutes of ordering. Ordered the following: Spiced pork stew over rice - the spiced pork had great flavor, liked how the meat included pork skin, the pork to rice proportion was off and wish it came with more pork Pig ear salad- thinly sliced and had good texture, the thinly sliced ginger was overpowering and made the dish not taste good Sauteed rice vermicelli - basic and not very flavorful Beef noodle soup - soup had great flavor, thin noodle was cooked well but nothing special, some pieces of beef were so chewy that they were inedible

I love Facing East, and they are doing only take out business off Bel Red road, still delightful food and a great meal.

I got it at 75% sweet because the last new place I visited had lower sweet, but this one I could've done 50% I think. It's really too bad this spot is so far from me (I live in Bellevue)... or maybe it's a good thing because I'd get it too much. Maybe better for my health and wallet. X_x This place also serves a lot of food, actually. I ended up getting a tea and chicken combo, and the chicken was fried but not overly oily and spiced flavorfully. The meat itself also isn't too fatty, which makes me feel like I'm not making the WORST choices by eating it........ You can get you own water at the counter, and if you order for here you need to put a table number, which I found out is already on the table, not a placard you grab near the ordering tableau.

My friend was a big fan of boba tea, and I missed Taiwanese street food badly, so we just decided to try out this place. We showed up right after they opened their door. I am a low tech person, but I found their ordering kiosk was easy to use. We ordered two meals, Taiwanese sausage bento and Beef noodle soup, that came with drinks. One interesting we noticed is that each meal selection came with different drink options. When we ordered Taiwanese sausage bento, there's an option to order a drink at a cheaper price, but no old fashioned black tea, so we ordered milk tea. However, when we ordered beef noodle soup, there's no milk tea option but old fashioned black tea. We thought all the add-on drink options were the same, but they weren't. We then got milk tea and black tea from the add on options since it's much cheaper. We also ordered blood rice cake and the braised combo. There were a few tables in the store. When we were there, not too many people were there, so we just picked up a table. The food came very quickly. During the lunch time, around noon to 1 pm, the entire place was packed. After that, most people just came to pick up something and left. The food was very delicious and was authentically Taiwanese food. The blood rice cake was southern Taiwanese style. I wish they also had northern style that would wrapped with peanut powder. The braised combo was very tasty. I guess it was cooked in the sauce for a long time. The beef noodle soup was really good, and they could add picked mustards for free. My friend and I had a lot to chat, so we stayed in the store until they closed. Nobody ever tried to kick us out simply because we had stayed too long. We had a good time there, enjoying the food and the drinks. I am sure that we will come again soon.
