Before i noticed Square Lotus offer this dish, i had to drive down to Renton if i wanted to eat my very favorite Vietnamese dish. Square Lotus offers an extensive choice of dishes. This visit we ordered the tropical fresh rolls and the pork on skewers, along with banh xeo The banh xeo was really nice and crispy. The only 2 drawbacks. for me was ... instead of pork belly, they use chicken, i think white meat cause the meat is very dry. The second is they don't offer a lot of fresh herbs with this dish. Yum yum yum! Square Lotus was highly recommended by a local. It did not dissapoint. I visited with a large group and the staff was very attentive and kind. They have a large menu with lots of options, and lots of items I was not familiar with. Our table ordered the spring rolls with pork. They were delicious! I went with their Classsic Vermicilli bowl which comes with pork, shrimp, a tiny egg rolls, noodles and cucumbers. It was delicious the pork was very tasty and the shrimp were seasoned perfectly. The restaurant is large and definitely a spot for families both small and big. I only noticed a few to go orders. Great spot for Vietnamese food if you happen to find yourself in Bellevue. read more

This place in Factoria has some big portions for prices that scale pretty well, and I'm surprised it's been here for a long while yet I've only tried it now. This was on a Friday night at almost 6pm and my friend and I came in to a nearly empty interior that filled up throughout our stay. Is it just dinnertime that time or were my friend and I bringing in the crowds? You'll enjoy a very clean and well-kept restaurant with clean tables and chairs, with lighting that's very little but lights up the whole place well. Menu has a lot of offerings (both regular and vegetarian) but since it's dinnertime I decided on a rice dish as usual. I got their beef short ribs rice dish, which has their usual marinated short ribs with a fried egg and veggies. I actually liked how they offered their rice in a separate bowl, and everything else on one plate... which means the meat almost covered my whole plate! By the way, my friend got their grilled pork chop rice dish, and the meat also almost completely covered his plate. Both our meats were marinated so well and held in so much flavor, and came off their bones easily. We both agreed the grilled beef short rib dish I ordered was the winner because of the bolder and more defined marinated taste of the meat. I've tried so many Vietnamese restaurants and almost exclusively get their beef short ribs rice on the first visits of them, but this is the first time I've seen meat portions this huge for a rice dish. We were looking for a Vietnamese restaurant to try, and this one popped up on Yelp. Since we're not vegetarian, we appreciated that they offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We ordered the pho bò kho, house special noodle bowl, vegetarian fried roll, and summer roll. Everything was delicious, and the service was very good. Both appetizers were fresh and well made. The only thing we noticed was that the lemongrass pork in the house special noodle bowl wasn't as flavorful as similar dishes we've had at other Vietnamese restaurants on the east side. Service was both swift and wonderful for lunch today. And the food was amazing. Started strong with the Tropical Roll, the inclusion of the Mango within each roll was very unique (and tasty). Following up was the Sweet and Spicy Chicken (3-Star on the spice), very good, very filling and had a nice kick to it. And finishing off with the Vietnamese Soup. A nice warm touch to a cold day. My favorite pho place. The spring rolls are the best I've ever had compared to other places. The rice paper is thick and doesn't rip. The shrimps they put in are a nice size and not skimpy. The peanut sauce is also the BEST, I always ask for extra. The egg rolls and Vietnamese crepes are also other great options for appetizers. For entree I obviously get the pho. The broth comes out perfectly hot. The broth itself is super flavorful not watered down. Not too fatty or oily either. The meat is good quality and noodles never overcooked. Their menu actually has two full pages of vegetarian options, so there's plenty for everyone to select from. Five of us came here for an early dinner one Saturday around 4:45P. In addition to pho and vermicelli bowls, they have a few other noodle dishes and a variety of entrées served with rice. All the menu items are intended to be a single serving. That said, the portion sizes are pretty substantial for an individual, but on the smaller end if you're sharing between multiple people. Nevertheless, we still decided to eat family-style! + LEMONGRASS CHICKEN ($17): White meat chicken, bell peppers, onion and broccoli were coated in a fragrant lemongrass sauce that was savory with some notes of ginger. Although a flavorful dish, the chicken was on the dry side. + SIZZLING HOT POT ($19): A clay pot filled with Japanese eggplant, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and fried tofu in a thin gravy. I loved the eggplant and wish the pot contained more of it. As someone who eats meat regularly, I found this to be a tasty dish for being completely vegetarian. + SQUARE LOTUS CURRY ($17): A green curry with bell peppers, eggplant, peas, carrots and basil with our protein choice of chicken. Sadly, the flavor of the curry was weak and I tasted mostly coconut milk. This said, it also didn't have any heat whatsoever. + SEAFOOD SOFT EGG NOODLES ($19): A noodle stir-fry with shrimp, scallops, squid, carrots, broccoli, snow peas, cabbage, celery, white onion and bean sprouts. The noodles were cooked perfectly and lightly flavored with oyster sauce. I enjoyed the variety of vegetables and how they retained some crunch. This didn't contain much seafood though; it was all gone by the time I got my serving. + VIETNAMESE RICE NOODLES ($17): Rice noodles stir-fried with eggs, broccoli, celery, carrots, snow peas, cabbage and bean sprouts, garnished with crushed peanuts. I loved this dish! The sauce was balanced between salty and savory... these noodles were addicting. We ordered it with beef which was sliced thin and tender. Service was good as the waitstaff is very attentive. However, it seems that all the servers tend to all tables. They share in the responsibilities of taking orders, serving, refilling water, etc. This said, we were asked three different times if we were ready to order and I had to ask three different servers for a box for our leftovers. Here for dinner for our last night visit. We decided to eat something light so hubby and brother in law ordered the rare beef pho, sister ordered the duck noodle soup and I ordered the vermicelli noodle bowl with grilled pork, shrimp and fried eggroll. The portions were hearty and actually my sister couldn't finish the duck that was on a separate platter from the soup, which is something different from other places we have visited. Service was attentive and friendly. The meats were tasty. I cannot speak for the duck as I noticed there was no duck skin on the duck. This is a great stop for some Vietnamese fare. Right off of I-90 it is a quick and easy stop for food on the way home from the Cascades. The food overall is done well and is consistent. I was excited to eat at a Vietnamese restaurant.. and then I was disappointed. We love ordering crispy noodles at Vietnamese restaurants. Unfortunately, the restaurant near us stopped selling that dish. We were thrilled to see it on the menu here. When it arrived, we quickly realized it was not the traditional crunchy noodles dish we've had and loved at many other restaurants. The noodles were essentially pad Thai noodles that they formed into a circle, deep fried, and then cut into six pieces like a pizza. What? The noodles were HARD. You have to let them soak into their sauce for a half hour before they're edible. It was $17. Their other items looked good and perhaps we should've ordered those instead. Guests around us were ordering pho and spring rolls. The curry was just okay. Honestly, I would've rather preferred driving the 15 minutes to Bai Tong instead. The servers were very nice. They keep busy so don't be afraid to flag one of them down. I think they work to be timely because there are so many T-Mobile employees who come down for a lunch break. Pho and pho broth were perfect and exactly what we were craving! Shrimp Spring rolls and peanut sauce were fresh and crispy, combination fried rice was made and seasoned to perfection, with a really good amount of veggies and meat! As the staff kindly packed up our amazing lunch for us, I asked if I would be able to take a Thai-Tea to go, We are extremely grateful as it looked like the owner may have ran next door to grab a fresh carton of milk to make it! They were extremely apologetic for the brief wait, but my table was so amazed and appreciative, and it was delicious and made so well. Apart from that they do have some exotic dishes including Duck Noodles Soup and Catfish. I highly recommend their Battered fried Shrimp. Fried rice is pretty good too. The Mango Chicken rice was a surprise and I loved it. The chicken skewers were above average. One thing I loved was their sauces served with appetizers. About the service, I was left but disappointed. We came an hour before closing time.
