This is a great and unique vegan spot in Bellevue. Beautiful decor besides the fans spread throughout the restaurant since they don't have AC. This cheapens the experience a bit. Service was excellent and fast though. The food was fantastic and the sesame beef lotus root dish is a standout dish. A must try. Get it with the purple rice as well. The salted egg tofu lives up to the hype too and is such a unique tasting dish. The crispy rolls are standard, nothing special. Everything here is so colorful and I really appreciate the menu having pictures for every drink and dish. This should be a requirement for all restaurants! The purple yam soup was really bad. Almost inedible to me. The Hanoi Sunset cocktail was also really bad. Avoid those two items and you will have a better chance at a great experience here! It was so close to a 5 star review but these two items were especially bad that I could not overlook how they took away from the experience a bit.

Overall: 4 stars Very interesting vegetarian restaurant that rethinks a lot of Asian dishes in an equally compelling vegetarian light. The staff are very kind and attentive and the food tastes quite pleasant. My only gripe is how the entrance inside and out is flooded with flies that detract from both the first and last impression. Eggplant Tofu - Love the flavor of the sweet saline black pepper sauce that really powers the dish. The pepper gives a persistent but not overpowering spice that works well with the rice. Food was really good. My favorite out of everything we ordered was the Chicken Ragu. Service was fast and server were very friendly and attentive. Ambience is cozy.

This review is only for their mango sticky rice and spaghetti. For some reason, their mango sticky rice is bothering me for a week, so here it is. The rice is same rice as their bowl of rice served with entree, black mixed rice. It is not even made especially for this desert. The Mango squares??? Just DO NOT ORDER IT! especially if you are used to real mango sticky rice. It is cubes of frozen mango's and regular entree black rice and all they did was pour sweetened coconut milk. Texture was disgusting. I Didn't take photo but trust me, not worth the money. The spaghetti? I ordered it because it was expected to be savory and flavorful. It was NOT! They used some fake vegan butter with strange chemical taste. The meat balls ere tough texture and mushrooms weren't even sliced. Do not order these 2-items

Pleasantly surprised by Chay Concept. This is a high-end vegetarian spot with an open kitchen that lets you watch the chefs in action, especially if you snag a bar seat. The space is stylish, the service is great, and the food is both beautifully plated and delicious. The cocktails could use a bit of refinement, but the creativity is there and I'm excited to see how they evolve. Parking nearby is limited, but if you're staying at the hotel across the alley, it's an easy win. Overall, a great choice for an elevated, meat-free meal in Bellevue.

The location was abut awkward to find. But the place is very cozy and loving the grass wall display. The food on the hand was great and it is very vegetarian/vegan friendly for our vegetarian folks. Definitely a date night type of place with their more asian fusion type of cuisine. The staff was super friendly. The food was good as vegetarian meals go. But it was a bit too sweet in regard to the sauce and seems overpowering.

I went to Chay Concept and had a mixed experience overall. I ordered the golden garlic and chili tofu and Thai iced tea. The garlic and chili tofu was the highlight--well-cooked, flavorful, and nicely balanced with heat. The tofu was crispy on the outside while remaining soft on the inside, making it quite enjoyable. However, the Thai iced tea was disappointing. It lacked the usual richness and depth of flavor and tasted watered down, which took away from the overall experience. The food felt freshly prepared, and the flavors had a modern Asian vegetarian touch. Overall, Chay Concept is worth visiting for dishes like the garlic and chili tofu, but the drinks could use some improvement.

We Tried Happy Hour at this Vietnamese Vegetarian restaurant last Friday. (4pm -6pm). The decor is very nice and tranquil. Seating area is a bit limited. About 6 seats at the bar, but you can enjoy the HH drinks and small plates in the regular seating area too. They have mocktails, for those who prefer non alcoholic drinks We ordered the crispy rolls, and golden garlic and chili tofu with a #2 spicy. Both small plates were very tasty. The tofu had a definite kick to it but was still enjoyable. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. Servers were very courteous, attentive, and welcoming. On the street parking was easy to find.

It was packed, but glad we put in a reservation. We got bar seating, which wasn't too bad. Seats were still comfortable and you get to see all the action from kitchen to bar to dining room. We've always had low expectations for vegetarian restaurants, so we were quite surprised w/ the execution with the food here. Pumpkin and lotus seed soup was our fav - fragrant, umami, and whatever they put in there, it warmed my soul! Perfect dish from happy hour to get through this cold spell in Seattle. Others we've enjoyed: Pho rolls, crispy rolls, tom yum mushrooms (love the seasoning and the peppery flavor!), and papaya salad. There was something in the mango salad that gave me an aftertaste of dish soap. Maybe they felt rushed b/c of the number of orders that night, so the dishes didn't get wiped down fast enough. I'm sure executon gets better w/ time. My mocktail was a bit too sweet for my taste. Will certainly try a different one next time.

Went back to Chay Concept for a second time, and again, loved the food. This time, I enjoyed the food even more as I was able to hone in on some of the items that were more of my taste. We ordered a crispy tofu appetizer, which came with a yummy lemon grass dipping sauce -- I'd definitely order this again! They also had a new item, tropical mango rolls, which were also quite good. The place is on the smaller side but because of that, it's pretty chill, making it easy to have conversation during lunch, dinner or happy hour. The service was outstanding. We had such a warm, friendly server, who seemed to really care about our experience. I love that they have expanded their menu since I visited the first time, and there are pictures which are super helpful too!

I am very happy I had a chance to try Chay Concept. This place has very tasty food. While here for a Yelp experience, I also purchased and entree of Sesame Beef with Lotus Root and a spiciness level of 2 stars. I enjoyed the Sesame Beef entree. This dish had imitation beef which was super similar in texture as real beef and the spiciness was just right for me. Lots of veggies in this meal with broccoli, peppers and lotus root. It is similar to Szechuan Beef but certainly healthier and still full of flavor. This dish came with a choice of rice and I chose the purple rice for variety. I had a great waiter who kept my water full and checked up with me often and remembered my name which is always nice. I will return here one day with family.

    Katrina C.

Good option for vegan food! They have a wide variety of different dishes, with veggies and meat alternatives. We tried the papaya salad and bahn mi skillet. It was flavorful and light. The drinks menu was also extensive with coffee, mocktails and alcoholic drinks. They also have HH menu from 4-6 with good discounts

    Jamil R.

We really enjoyed Chay when we visited. We do typically eat and like meat so we're a little suspicious that we wouldn't like it, but we were wrong! They do a good job of using meat alternatives to replace how meat would usually be used. Their beef replacement is probably what they do best. The tofu dishes felt like they could be hit or miss. This is downtown Bellevue so there is mostly street parking and garages if you want that. The interior of the restaurant is really nice and cozy definitely recommend visiting!

The noodle dishes were decent, but the standout was the Vietnamese pancake. Definitely order this if you're on the fence! The restaurant got a lot busier after we got our food - at least two or three parties who arrived (two each) had to wait between 5-10 min for a table to clear. The staff are super efficient at clearing tables so you won't need to wait long, but the downside of this place is that their popularity easily exceeds their capacity - so be patient! I don't have any notes for ambiance. Parking is available in the same plaza, but there isn't much - a lot are reserved for specific businesses between specific hours, so be careful not to park in an open business if you intend to eat here!

Fast forward a year later to a Sunday at 12:30pm and I finally made the long drive here without going through Aurora Ave since my GPS randomly decided to give my road rage some grace. This place has plenty parking around the perimeter, so it was easy settling in. Only confusion was finding the entrance to this place, but when I did I was actually surprised where I was stepping into. Inside is laid back and cool with plenty of seating for groups of various sizes. There's tables and booths, and I got booth seating for myself when I walked in. There's a TV playing sports nearby where I was, and Vietnamese pop music was playing in the background too. Menu consists of regular foods in most Vietnamese restaurants, though their provincial noodle soups and banh mi sandwiches caught my eye. They even have bún măng vịt (duck and bamboo shoot noodle soup), my favorite that I gotta try next time I come here! From my IG feeds and as a starting point, I got their bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich), which comes with all the works of a regular banh mi sandwich, though I was kinda surprised how brightly orange the grilled pork was. Regardless, it was tasty and the meat was juicy. The pork pate added a nice savory touch to the sandwich, and no other condiment was in excess that it took away taste from the flavorful grilled pork. Staff was very kind throughout, and refilled my water every now and then. It was also nice chatting with one of them about our day and other recommendations from the menu. There's so much to have on their menu so I need to make the drive here again to have more of their stuff!

Menu has typical items for a Vietnamese restaurant like pho, banh mi sandwiches, bun, rice dishes and vegetarian options. There was actually a lot of stuff so I was slightly overwhelmed. I got their large phở tái bò viên, which is pho with medium rare beef and meatballs. Note that there is only a $1 difference before tax between the medium- and large-size pho, and I saw the medium bowls being much smaller than the large one I got, so it's worth getting the larger one!
