The interior is very nice with self-serve appetizer bar, sauce bar and dessert bar with lots of jellos bobas coconut milk to make your own mixed tapioca desserts. Not to mention lots of fruits that are pre-cut which were the kids favorite. The menu is quite overwhelming so we went with the unlimited noodles and single broth per person. I can never say no to hot pot! The Dolar Shop is an upscale hot pot spot with individual pots and fancy ingredients like wagyu, lobster, and crab (in addition to the usual hot pot fixings). They're the first place I've seen in the US with a split pot for individuals, so it's a great way to both try multiple broths and enjoy the freedom of your own cooking vessel, and they have these cute little protective layers to go around the pot as well, which was a nice touch. They're a pay per ingredient (rather than AYCE) hot pot place, so it can get pretty pricey. Despite all the fancy ingredients, I didn't quite feel like the quality was worth the upcharge, but it was a fun experience nonetheless! I got their tomato broth, which was quite flavorful and rich, despite being vegetarian, and I thought it went well with both the house sauce they mixed for us at our table and the spicier variant I made at the sauce bar. While you're waiting for your broth and ingredients to arrive, you can also treat yourself to their buffet appetizer table, which includes kimchi, edamame, and fruit. On the other side, they also have Osmanthus jelly and pandan jelly available for dessert, with a spread of all the toppings you can ask for. Between the different broths, meats and everything you can add along the way, there's a lot to play with and it's definitely best experienced with people who are down to try a little bit of everything. For two people, with lunch and two cocktails, we spent somewhere around $130. The quality and overall experience are there, but it's definitely a bit of a splurge for lunch. With hot pot, the broth is such a huge part of the experience, so I wanted a little more from it. But also on top of that, this is odd to say, but he truly understands good business. Was advised a 20min wait on a Tuesday night around 7pm as 9th in line and was seated right after 20ish minutes. Interior is on point and super elegant. The resturant is 2 stories but sectioned off as if there are little rooms around which cuts down on noise and makes it feel less busy which is a plus. The food and soups were pretty good, above what you'd expect from a normal ayce spot. Selection is decent, has a good amount of meats and vegetables but not as vast as the other ayce spots. We only ordered 1 plate of the wagyu which I forgot the name of but it was in the $30 range and was fantastic. Service was very attentive, checking up very often to remove plates, refill water, refill soup, and to give us ice cream at the end. Sauce is made and provided at the beginning of your meal but there is also a sauce bar if you'd like to make your own. There is also a jelly dessert area, fruits, and cold appetizer bar next to it. Yes, I am very late to the upscale hot pot party at The Dolar Shop. This popular spot is located at The Bravern and has been open since 10/18/18. I've had this bookmarked foreverrrrr, but finally had the opportunity to indulge for a leisurely lunch with family earlier today (6/6/26). Thankfully, the other three in our party had hot pot experience. I've only had shabu-shabu and malatang, once each time, today was my first hot pot culinary introduction. A family member had made reservations awhile back and this is strongly recommended as the check-in/reception area was packed by 1115 am. We were brought downstairs to our booth. Chilled lemon water was provided as each of us pondered our choices for our customized hot pots. After placing our orders via tablet, there were some snack items to peruse like chips, peanuts, edamame, and fresh fruit. Dipping sauces were prepped by our kind waitperson. There are also additional ones at the sauce bar to select from to further customize with your meal. I really liked the cucumber and Napa cabbage kimchee/kimchi as my accompaniment. Shortly thereafter our broths (tomato, spicy, creamy pork) were brought out, hot plates turned on. Platters of assorted vegies and greens, mushrooms, shrimp, quail eggs, lotus root, Spam slices, and tofu sheets, as well as, bowls of noodles and steamed rice were placed on our table. Nicely plated selected sliced meats were then brought out. We had selected wagyu beef, two sets of boneless beef short ribs, and lamb flap. As a newbie, I was overcooking my proteins, but eventually got the hang of it. This was my first meal of the day, so the portions brought out were generous and filling. The broths and water glasses were periodically refilled and waitstaff checking on us too. Likewise, one could have additional servings of noodles and rice. At the end, we were each provided with soft serve cones to cool and cleanse our palates. There is a time limit in order to turn the table over to be cleared for the next reservation. Also, make sure if parked in the underground lot, to bring your ticket along and have it validated at the check-in/reception stand. I'm glad I did this since our meal here and coffee/dessert at an adjacent site at The Bravern was four hours and saved myself from paying $18 - $21! The Dolar Shop is a good hotpot spot mainly because the quality of food and taste. It is quite expensive but worth it. At the Dolar Shop, you get a choice of your own broth which is only shared individually. They do have a choice of multiple. I personally chose the tomato broth, which is one of my favorites. I came originally for a reservation at 8:45 pm, but my boyfriend and I wanted to do happy hour so we can have more choices since it was closer to closing. We ended up waiting a few for minutes for this deal. We got a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetables. They were all of good quality, I especially liked the seafood. One thing I would note is the lack of noodles. Personally I like have noodles with my hotpot and Dolar Shop only had one type of noodle. Reserve through Yelp if possible because it's easy and convenient, they'll usually seat parties within 15 minutes of reservation time. Cozy inside, decent space between tables, and there's even a downstairs. Service is always wonderful, even though we had four servers during our visit as they rotated, we had an excellent experience with tons of attention. They forgot our enoki mushrooms but one quick wave down fixed it without hassle, so appreciate that. Paid about $100 per person each time, but we go a bit hard, could get away with $50-60 per person plus their tasty sauce and food bar. They don't explain the happy hour that well, but during happy hour they have set menus that include sauce bar and unlimited rice or noodles. Unfortunately, we didn't see it until after ordering so paid a bit extra. Pork bone broth is pretty average, a safe choice but nothing special over here. Parking is part of the bravern - there's a machine at the front to validate for 6 hours. You shouldn't need 6 hours, but yeah. It's at the front, near the entrance. Sauce bar is dope, but they've cut back on snacks / desserts. The ordering is done on a tablet (I've only ever been here with a big group - like 10-14 people usually with a reservation). I did come here once with my wife, just the two of us, for dinner on a Friday night (no reservation). Highly recommend joining the waitlist well before you come here - the line was 36 line when I joined, and 42 long when I arrived. We did get seated after around 25 min, so it moves fast. I joined the waitlist via Yelp before we left (it was a 20 min drive), and the line did move before we got to the proverbial front, but it would have been very deflating if I joined the line "when I got here", so I'm glad Yelp is an option to join the line via the app, beforehand. For two people we ordered a decent clip of food, it came out to $200 after tax and "surcharge" (if you pay by debit or cash the 3% surcharge is removed). Some dishes are outrageously expensive (one of the beef platters was $37 on its own!), but at least there's some options for "multi person sets" (2, etc). There's a weird track like "untz untz untz" (dance club vibe?) - no lyrics, but it's very faint (not too loud). If you're sitting near the front, it's a bit cold if you're in the pathway towards the door. Service is sometimes slow and spotty - mostly because they have staff assigned to certain areas, and as those areas get saturated, some tables get inevitably neglected. For instance: despite the massive 40+ waitlist (you'd figure the priority is clearing tables and turning them over), it took us over 15 min to get and pay for the bill. Seating area is large with hot tea and iced fruit water. There's some candy and table games. I recommend getting on the Yelp waitlist on weekends. If you call them, they can add you too. I think the ingredients they use are good quality and tasty. You order items on a table/iPad. The broths are $9.99, even for split pot. I wish they had an option for split regular bone broth + spicy. The service is good too. This isn't an all you can eat hot pot, so you pay for each plate you order. Come here for your birthday! They give a pretty happy birthday sign and let you spin the wheel to win something. There is a charge per person to use the self-serve sauce bar. There's also a variety of desserts and fruits, which is my favorite section. Two things I would note: 1. My go to soup base is the half and half Creamy Bone Broth and Spicy Broth. I love how they let you split the pot with two soup bases for the price of one. An incredible, luxurious, hot pot experience. The staff are so friendly and attentive. They literally brought us bibs because we were wearing white shirts. The place just looks and feels so bougie. For three people, we ordered 2 sets (1 Wagyu, 1 regular beef) and 1 soup base separately. Each set comes with a veggie platter, 1 meat, 1 soup base of choice, unlimited noodle or rice, and some miscellaneous goodies (quail egg, shrimp paste, spam, tofu, mushrooms, etc). This ended up being the perfect amount of food. The sets and each soup base also gives access to the sauce / appetizer self-serve bar. The kimchi tripe was so refreshing. The meat itself is great, even the regular beef. The Wagyu was so tender, we could definitely taste the difference in quality and I would order this set again. I highly recommend the creamy pork soup base. I also like that you can order a half n half soup base. In addition, there is a bar where you can assemble a jelly dessert. At the end of the meal you can also get a soft serve. I would definitely make a reservation ahead of time if you could. They also have a parking garage that you can get your parking validated in the front. I would definitely come back again for the happy hour special, otherwise this is a spendier option.
