We are here like once a month, finally writing a review. The food is top tier, although I've noticed when you come earlier in the day it's a bit more fresh? It could have been just me but we choose the lunch time special because of this, and because it's a good deal for high end dining. ($38~ lunch set for boneless beef short rib, unlimited fresh hand rolled noodles) The service is fine dining quality, and the ambiance although busy is quality too. Best hotpot in the area, definitely likely. Best value hotpot, definitely not. The Dolar Shop is not a cheap option but offers one of the more premium selections available. Easy parking which they validate, a nice mall to digest afterwards, and plenty of dessert and boba around. Plus a convenient location with the new 2 line link. Reserve through Yelp if possible because it's easy and convenient, they'll usually seat parties within 15 minutes of reservation time. Cozy inside, decent space between tables, and there's even a downstairs. Service is always wonderful, even though we had four servers during our visit as they rotated, we had an excellent experience with tons of attention. They forgot our enoki mushrooms but one quick wave down fixed it without hassle, so appreciate that. Paid about $100 per person each time, but we go a bit hard, could get away with $50-60 per person plus their tasty sauce and food bar. They don't explain the happy hour that well, but during happy hour they have set menus that include sauce bar and unlimited rice or noodles. Unfortunately, we didn't see it until after ordering so paid a bit extra. Pork bone broth is pretty average, a safe choice but nothing special over here. However, their tomato broth is one of the richest around, rich and umami. Luckily everyone gets their own pot which is essentially a cost per person, before ordering menu items. The appetizer and dessert bar is a little limited compared to other places, but I didn't come here for that. I really enjoyed the mushroom broth and short beef plate. The atmosphere is more refined than some if the big places that can get crowded and noisy. I do wish there were some small soup/rice bowls so you can spoon broth into and sip from. Spooning the broth directly from the pot to your mouth is just too hot unless you turn off the burner and let it cool for a few minutes. The dishes they provide and the sauce and dessert bar are too shallow to work as soup bowls. I might try the AYCE for a special occasion and with friends or relatives. But if you go solo, the set meal is the way to go or even if it's just a date night and you don't want to oink out. Minor 1 star deduction because they charge and extra fee for credit cards. Seriously? And they even assume you're going to use a credit card. The place is big and good for both casual and special occasion meals. Parking at the Bravern is validated. I got the lamb set menu, which with the happy hour prices, was reasonable. It's been 5 years since I've been to the Dolar Shop and I won't wait that long again! Great service, high quality meat and veg paired with a personalized hot pot experience. What's not to like? They have great sets available during lunch where you can pick the type of meat (different types of beef, chicken, pork) and the type of soup base (pork, mushroom, spicy, etc.) The set also includes a nice platter of veggies + shrimp balls, imitation crab meat and spam. And don't forget the sauce bar, with random things like wonton chips, cantaloupe and M&Ms as well. They've also added a boba and jelly bar, likely to compete with the Hey Tea outlet next door. Service is attentive and efficient, offering to refill broth 3-4 times during dinner. And of course, remembering to offer ice cream at the end of our meal. Parking is part of the bravern - there's a machine at the front to validate for 6 hours. You shouldn't need 6 hours, but yeah. It's at the front, near the entrance. Sauce bar is dope, but they've cut back on snacks / desserts. The ordering is done on a tablet (I've only ever been here with a big group - like 10-14 people usually with a reservation). I did come here once with my wife, just the two of us, for dinner on a Friday night (no reservation). Highly recommend joining the waitlist well before you come here - the line was 36 line when I joined, and 42 long when I arrived. We did get seated after around 25 min, so it moves fast. I joined the waitlist via Yelp before we left (it was a 20 min drive), and the line did move before we got to the proverbial front, but it would have been very deflating if I joined the line "when I got here", so I'm glad Yelp is an option to join the line via the app, beforehand. For two people we ordered a decent clip of food, it came out to $200 after tax and "surcharge" (if you pay by debit or cash the 3% surcharge is removed). Some dishes are outrageously expensive (one of the beef platters was $37 on its own!), but at least there's some options for "multi person sets" (2, etc). There's a weird track like "untz untz untz" (dance club vibe?) - no lyrics, but it's very faint (not too loud). If you're sitting near the front, it's a bit cold if you're in the pathway towards the door. Service is sometimes slow and spotty - mostly because they have staff assigned to certain areas, and as those areas get saturated, some tables get inevitably neglected. For instance: despite the massive 40+ waitlist (you'd figure the priority is clearing tables and turning them over), it took us over 15 min to get and pay for the bill. I went here for the first time on a Sunday evening and it was delicious! It is definitely on the pricier side, and reservations are recommended as it was quite busy. Each person gets to choose their own broth base (there's an option to get two!) which I thought unique and that way everyone can get what they want. The protein and veggies are served family style, and you cook everything in your individual broth. This is a great place to go with a group of people and if you don't mind spending a little bit of money. My favorite hot pot spot in Seattle!! High quality meats and variety of options for veggies, protein, soup bases, and noodles. My go to soup base is the half and half Creamy Bone Broth and Spicy Broth. I love how they let you split the pot with two soup bases for the price of one. So worth it and allows you to try various flavors. There is a sauce bar and some sweet and savory snacks available for self serve as well. My favorite meats to order here are the beef tongue, beef belly, and pork belly. The marbling of the meats is extraordinary! The potato noodles are my favorite carb to get here. Complimentary vanilla soft service ice cream for dessert over a waffle cone. They also offer parking validation for the underground structure which is so convenient! Very modern interior design and comfortable seating! Clean environment and huge establishment as it has 2 floors. Minor cons: I do have to say food is on the pricier side, but it's worth it every once in a while. It's also not the most suitable for larger parties as they only have big tables available in their private rooms, which requires a minimum spending of $600. I came from out of state just to dine here! This location is in The Shops at the Bravern. It's a lot of fancy shops here. The Dolar Shop is close to LeTAO. Seating area is large with hot tea and iced fruit water. There's some candy and table games. I recommend getting on the Yelp waitlist on weekends. If you call them, they can add you too. I think the ingredients they use are good quality and tasty. You order items on a table/iPad. The broths are $9.99, even for split pot. I wish they had an option for split regular bone broth + spicy. The service is good too. This isn't an all you can eat hot pot, so you pay for each plate you order. Come here for your birthday! They give a pretty happy birthday sign and let you spin the wheel to win something. There is a charge per person to use the self-serve sauce bar. There's also a variety of desserts and fruits, which is my favorite section. Two things I would note: 1. I left my jacket in the coat rack at the front of the restaurant, but it didn't help with the smell. The clothes I was wearing from head to toe smelled badly afterwards. My jacket smelled equally as bad. 2. Check your receipt before you hand over payment. They add 3% if you use credit card to pay. There are signs on each table btw. Each set comes with a veggie platter, 1 meat, 1 soup base of choice, unlimited noodle or rice, and some miscellaneous goodies (quail egg, shrimp paste, spam, tofu, mushrooms, etc). This ended up being the perfect amount of food. The sets and each soup base also gives access to the sauce / appetizer self-serve bar. The kimchi tripe was so refreshing. The meat itself is great, even the regular beef. The Wagyu was so tender, we could definitely taste the difference in quality and I would order this set again. I highly recommend the creamy pork soup base. I also like that you can order a half n half soup base. I found their soup bases to be a little lacking however. I definitely recommend the shrimp paste. 3/5 Our assigned waiter was not attentive to our table and didn't really check in on us much. Our requests would be forgotten. They ended up forgetting one of our meat platters and we were told it would come soon. 20 minutes later, I asked another staff member, who was awesome, and he was able to do it one minute. The other plate ended up coming at the same time and they let us keep both. At the end of the meal, they give free ice cream and one of our cones was completely melted. I've been going to Dolar Shops for many years, and this location didn't disappoint. The staff was really wonderful, and I loved how spacious the restaurant is. I'd say the vibes are upscale and every time I've been, it seemed like every table was occupied. Free parking with validation! As with all Dolar Shops, I personally like that each person gets their own hot pot, and that getting two half broths doesn't increase the price. The selection of meats and veggies isn't as diverse as other hot pot spots I've been to, but the quality of ingredients feels relatively high. Their signature banana egg pancake is yummy, and there's a huge variety of sauces you can combine to make your dipping sauce. The dessert jelly bar is a big plus, and the soft serve slapped as always. Just some personal notes: the wagyu didn't actually taste better to me than the regular beef, so I think I'd skip the wagyu the next time I go. Dolar shop is always really good. The happy hour deal was also really nice. It comes with meat and a plate of veggies. This is so filling and worth your money!! I like both the spicy and tomato broth. I love that it is individual and that you can pick two broths. The meat and veggies are all high quality. We were here for birthday celebration. So we got some free Wagyu streak. The food was quite slow to come in and I think it has something to do with the piecemeal type of bringing out the food. We were in one of the rooms so that's a plus since we were celebrating a bday. One of the things we didn't like was that there was a minimum of 16 ppl before u can do AYCE, and we were only 13. Ppl. That's just a weird rule. They should just allow you to either do ala carte or AYCE and just price them differently. The good thing was one of our servers was super nice and attentive. He was definitely taking care of us and just giving us some free stuff like the shrimp paste or something. And getting us continuous water refills & even refilling our soup. I ate and left no crumbs! I've been hearing about the Dolar Shop for years but I finally had the chance to try it yesterday. The hype was real. When I stepped into the restaurant, the interior was very fancy. It reminded me of Bellweather but more upscale. From the amazing service to the overall architecture, Dolar Shop clearly had a very high threshold in their customer experience. The interior gave me Chongqing, China cyperpunk vibes. The servers gave us a brief tour of the restaurant. Dolar Shop felt like a fancy aquarium with its prawns swimming in its tanks. They showed me the sauce bar and dessert bar, which felt like a fancy buffet as it has so many options. The most important part was the food, which 100% delivered. I personally got the pork and tomato broth as my soup base. For the meat, we got the Cru Beef Thick Cut, Cru Beef Thin Slices, and boneless beef plate. We also added the vegetable platter and hand-made noodles as well. This was a 5-star experience after a memorable hot-pot time with luxury comfort food.
