3.5/5 Looks like Sun Sui Wah rebranded into Sum Yee Kae. Not sure if it's a change of ownership and chefs, but I was glad that the interior wasn't changed and I spotted familiar friendly faces (waiters and waitresses) as I walked in Ordered a range of dim suns. Some were better than others. Overall met expectations. Really liked the congee, egg tarts. Thought the pork buns (dough was too thick), rice crepes (the bun dough was too thick for my personal preference, and I wish there was more filling/flavor), and duck (too fatty but nice flavor) could have been better. Nice vibe to come with a group. Expect wait and challenge with finding a parking spot on the weekends

No improvement from previous same restaurant. Yelp remote checked in, arrived, noone is at the storefront for you to check in with. A bunch of customers standing around unsure of what to do and who is in line or already waiting. That is the sense, feeling you get when you walk in. Waited 10 minutes for someone to appear. Then a woman walks in, 4 fingers in the air walking into restaurant and grabs who is seemingly the manager, they get seated before everyone waited. We waited 10 minutes patiently in the lobby and to have that happen I make a point with the manager that they just arrived and got seated, he gets irratated instead of being professional and shows me his phone that has a list and says her name that got seated and asked if I wanted him to call her from the phone to show proof it was them. Is that how you respond to customers? You should stay composed and explain and be apologetic rather then being defensive and realize there are people waiting in the lobby for someone to attend to them and for that to happen, know that people can get the wrong idea. No real apology, not real anything, though he did then seat us right after that. Sure, you're busy, sure, maybe understaffed. Thats on ownership and management. Don't vent that onto the customers. The food itself, its the exact same from previous restaurant. Actually, a tad over salted. The grouper was delicious though, well prepared, and fresh, for $70 it better be, and it delivered. I feel sorry for the guy or manager because he must be flustered at the situation he is in. It could have gotten way worse if I chose to escalate it, but I stayed cool mainly because I wanted my guests to eat, and he did seat us. Its too bad though that the hugely anticipated previous restaurant and this renamed one is absolutely not what everyone was hoping it would be.

For my birthday lunch, I wanted dim sum and heard about this restaurant in Bellevue. I enjoyed all the food and so did my family! It's not your usual food on a cart as we ordered the food online and the servers brought them to us. Because the restaurant is located in a busy shopping plaza, parking was scarce. I loved the tall ceilings and bright interior. I definitely want to come back for their dinner menu.

We arrived on a Saturday at 12:20pm and waited an hour. -lotus wrapped sticky rice: small and meh. Flavored with soy and rice almost al dente. -chicken feet: large paw, tender, good flavor -Red bean purse: flaky, warm, flavorful. Would recommend. -steamed pork bun: fragrant bun, not a lot of filling. -rose scallop dumpling: like a shrimp dumpling with a scallop on top. It's good. -swan shaped duck pastry: must try. On the oily side from the duck. -daikon cake- not good. Cool, chewy feel from being stale. So much flour very little daikon. -sesame red bean ball: good. Our were very hot. The paste is sweet and smooth. -Dan Tat (egg custard cup): cold. Both if the pastry is soggy from sitting there. Sides were still flaky. The service was slow, it was painful to flag the down for refill of the tea pot. The restaurant look exactly the same as the last restaurant; Sun Sui Wah. They ran out of chairs and used metal folding chairs at some tables. Another underwhelming Bellevue Dim Sum place. They will go out of business soon. The good items here will get you in once but not likely worth coming twice.

Sum Yee Kae replaced Sun Sui Wah in the same location. The local owner remains the same, but the restaurant is no longer associated with the BC, Canada Sun Sui Wah. Sun Sui Wah was great when it was on point, but it could be inconsistent. First, Sum Yee Kae is still in soft opening, so it's not 100% where they want it to be yet. And it shows. Service is fine, though nothing special. There are now tablets and (optionally) a QR code for phone ordering, which helps make dim sum service a little faster. But they still miss things (we had to point out two items we did not receive while there this time, so we could get them). Food was good, sometimes better than Sun Sui Wah's similar item, sometimes not. And when it was a "not equal," it was not great. Some dumplings (here's looking at you, shumai) had skins that were far too thick, especially on the bottom. More than half of the variety of dumplings we tried seemed oversteamed. When they got it right, the food was outstanding, but that was only about 25% of what we ordered. We'll give Sum Yee Kae another chance in a month or so. Hopefully, they work out the rough spots during the soft opening by then.

This place took over another dim sum place and now that I've tried this place. They pretty much taste the same, which is a good thing! The only downside to this place in my experience was the service, the food took a while for it to come and was separated from each other for quite some time. Water was not refilled appropriately. Overall, despite the service, I would still come back due to the quality and uniqueness of the food.

Saturday morning dimsum. For a party of 6, we waited about 1 hour. I'd recommend joining through Yelp before you get there bc their waiting area can get really crowded. The interior looks pretty much exactly the same as from before they rebranded. Service was really fast and good as well. For food, we got a variety of dishes. Standout for me was the royal swan with roast duck. The pastry was super flaky and the filling was flavorful. Really yummy. Other items like the lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, bbq pork buns, and Chinese broccoli were okay. I was disappointed by the salted egg custard buns. Filling was good, but the bun part at the bottom was really dense. Bean curd was okay, though I don't prefer the oyster sauce. The steamed rice rolls had a weird chemical-y aftertaste? Overall, this place was okay. Not worth the wait for mid dimsum.

Dim sum was good and standard but service was slow, so definitely beware when ordering multiple times. The place was clean and newly renovated. The parking is difficult and small spaces.

The place was decorated high end- luxury. However, service was not great. In the beginning, it was ok. The server came around. For condiments like chili sauce, soy sauce etc. they only brought out very tiny bit. I came during lunch time 11am. It took awhile for the foods to come out. Don't order the swan. It looks nice but I had no idea what I ate. It tasted weird. My mom didn't feel wanting to eat anymore after she ate the swan.

Food was good. They were a little slow because due to how busy they were. We had to wait a bit to be seated even if we made a reservations. Bummer was they had run out of one of the dim sum I wanted to try. Decor was nice. But fair warning it's really loud in there. The place is really busy and parking was hard. So plan accordingly.

I enjoyed my dim sum birthday lunch at Sum Yee Kae. Not your usual food on the cart place as everything was ordered online and the food was brought to the table. Most of the items we ordered were delicious. I especially loved the lemon tea with the ice-shaped bear. The restaurant was very clean, great lighting and tall ceilings. I would love to come back and try their dinner menu!

Really beautiful restaurant!! I love the ambiance. Get the bear milk tea. The lemon one is good too. The family and I ordered the honey walnut prawn, 1/2 duck, fried geoduck, sashimi geoduck and beef stir fry. All was delicious. Very fresh and great quality. Service was good as well.

Sum Yee Kae did not hit the mark for me unfortunately :( their wait times are extremely long on a weekend so make sure to add your name to yelp waitlist in advance. Their dimsum dishes tasted mediocre and very very pricy. The space is great for large groups and feels really grand but dim sum was just so sad for some reason. Maybe they are still working out a couple things after the rebrand. I'd recommend to look for other spots for dim sum.

I don't need a chef wildly experimenting with my siu mai, or dabbling with my baked hom bow. My analysis of Sun Sui Wah, very nice interior, ok service, solid food. Was it a few dollars more than similar fare in Seattle, yes. But I also didn't have to drive to Seattle, not to mention put up with the street spectacle that now exists in the International District. It gets 5 stars because it delivers as promised.

Service : nonexistent Food: 9/10…read morePrice: standard but not worth for the horrible service. We spent about $600 for a party of 9. Would rather go to Diamond Bay, Tasty Szechuan, Royal Kitchen, (can see why they're busy and packed on a holiday weekday night and Sun Sui Wah is not) Went here for dinner for my grandma's 89th birthday with a party of 9 at 7pm. We ordered dishes typical of a 10 course meal including crab, Peking duck, live fish, rice, noodles, veggies, seafood, etc. The food was really good and didn't take too long to come out. Everything tasted good and we were all enjoying the family meal together and that's why I am giving 1 star because we will not be coming back. The service was absolutely horrible; ruined our dinner and wasted an extra 1-1.5hr of everybody's time. There was only 2 other tables in the restaurant and the servers started having dinner together at a table instead of working. I would understand if we were high maintenance customers or were giving them attitude but we did not. My cousin and I have both been FOH and BOH staff so we try to be understanding and patient when it comes to service especially coming from a Chinese background too. However, we asked for water several times, they never refilled anyone's water or the tea even once at this point it was end of dinner and 5 out of the 6 of us had completely empty glasses for about 30 minutes. We finally got water when we signaled to the Busser and he went to tell the same server again. We finished eating and decided to pay first so my grandma wouldn't try to pay. We tipped 18% off the bill since we were a large party and I wasn't about to punish all the workers for some water but what happened after made everything much worse. We asked for togo boxes and the server lady just dropped them off stared at our table and left. I was already wondering why she was seeming to be upset but seems like we were interrupting their dinner because 3 or 4 chinese servers were eating together at the table at the front when my sister's boyfriend went to pay. (That's why we didnt have water) I don't mind the workers needing to eat because I have been in their shoes before but please provide some service if you still have customers inside the restaurant waving at you. We wanted to leave just as much as they probabaly wanted to close at 10 pm(it was around 830ish now) We noticed that the cake they had been holding for us in the fridge was just sitting at another table in the restaurant. They saw us go grab it ourselves. We packed all the leftovers and started putting our dirty dishes and stuff onto the table because the workers were doing nothing. They saw that we were done but didn't want to stop their 8:30pm dinner I guess. Finally we asked them to bring us plates and clear the table. I have never had to ask the Chinese servers at any restaurant to clear the table before dessert, normally they do it for you, especially after you just tipped them almost $100 lol. The Chinese servers sent the bus boy to clear our table and guess what returned to their dinner! We again asked them for plates for the cake. It took so long to the point my sister missed picking up her prescription at 9pm. Not sure if the dim sum service is better but I'm pretty sure those 5 star service reviews are from the chinese servers' friends and/or family. Or the servers are taught to do nothing besides get the order and drop it off. Unfortunaly we will not be spending money at this establishment again because of the service and will be telling our family and friends in Issaquah and Bellevue to choose better places for sit down family meals. Hope others enjoy their meals because the food is still good

ROYAL KITCHEN @ BELLEVUE (crossroads)…read more Parking is pretty tight here, especially on the weekends when it gets super busy. Luckily, we were able to find a spot right out front, so I'd recommend slowly circling around and keeping an eye out for people leaving. I found this spot through Yelp and had been really craving good Chinese food, so I was super excited to finally try it. My family and I came without a reservation and were seated immediately, even though the restaurant was very busy. This place is definitely known for larger parties, there were lots of families and extended families dining together, which really gave it a classic family-style vibe. You order a bunch of dishes and share a little bit of everything, which I love. The staff were really friendly and greeted us right away with complimentary tea. Fun fact: in the mornings, tea is sometimes an extra charge, but in the evening it's free. We ordered a few dishes, including the honey walnut shrimp (which is my go-to order at any Asian restaurant), salt and pepper squid, house special vermicelli noodles, and Chinese broccoli. The vermicelli was a clear noodle dish loaded with different proteins like BBQ pork, squid, and shrimp. Everything had great flavor, but my absolute favorite was definitely the honey walnut shrimp. It was perfectly crispy and delicious. My only complaint is the portion size for the price, it was about $21 for roughly 10 pieces of shrimp, which felt pretty expensive. Overall, the portions were on the smaller side for what you're paying. Toward the end of the meal, they treated us to a complimentary papaya soup, which was a light, fruit-based dessert soup and a really nice way to finish. Our total came out to about $80, so it's definitely on the pricier side for Chinese food. That said, the food was delicious, the service was great, and if you're in the Bellevue area, I'd still recommend stopping by.

CHECK your bill here!!!!!!!!…read more We took our daughters from out of town for Sunday dim sum. Longtime family tradition!! And while we have often gone to the CID In Seattle, for many years and almost exclusively in recent years we have gone here and the previous business at the same location. I highly recommend this place and in my opinion the staff is usually always fantastic and they bring the food fast!! Today the service and food was fantastic and ordered so much it almost didn't fit on a 4 top table. We love leftover dim sum! But at the end of the meal they brought me the completed card with a total at the bottom. Didn't look beyond the total before tip and just gave the nice (very young) hostess my card. A server brought back just the two credit card slips and the price was seemingly $20 more than what was presented to me on the service card!?? I politely asked to see the bill again and then a longhgggh wait...... Then a heavily altered card was brought back showing the new total. I was not happy suddenly and asked why it was altered from the first one etc and a big argument from the server began that I didn't proliferate but she kept on and on and could not explain why all the changes by pen and saying that she was honest etc. insisting we "do the math" over and over Now we may have ordered that much food, but I know for a fact that the bill was clean written without alterations and $20 less than the corrected one. But still she couldn't give me a valid explanation for the changes and new total. In my opinion the high school age hostess made a mistake adding up before presenting the total to me and someone else edited it before running my card. If they had just admitted that I would not have been so disappointed. I don't believe that the staff here are dishonest and understand about mistakes but they did not handle it very diplomatically and it was a scene I didn't want to make. But I know that this was not the total presented to me for payment! Take a pic of your service card before sending the credit card to be run!!! It absolutely ruined our family outing and everyone was quiet in the car ride home. Not cool!!

Located inside of the Marketplace at Factoria Mall, they amassed a reputation that they've held onto for the last decade plus. It's been both good and bad, which is why my rating, along with many other others have been somewhere down the middle. Some good things: * There is plenty of group friendly seating. One could have a large group without having to experience much of a wait, even on the weekends. * In addition there is plenty of parking. No one will ever have to deal with looking for places to park, since the mall has so many spots. * The portions are excellent. One has every right to be nervous about how much dim sum will be served given shrinkflation, but there should be no problem here. For example, one portion of shrimp dumplings will have 8 pieces and the price reflects this as well. The bad: * Prices are objectively terrible. And by terrible, I mean expensive. Usually, I'm not one to care if the portions make up for the price, but seeing as everything is $15-20 a pop, things can add up quickly. Even a single can of soda was $5. Yes, really. * I appreciate the staff speaks Cantonese, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Even when they're not busy, they're not always the easiest to get a hold of and don't necessarily make attendance a priority. * What's worse than subpar tasting food? Having a lot of it. Mediocre execution for various popular dishes meant that food was going to be wasted. This is already a big no no with Asian culture, but the price being factored into it meant folks got hosed twice. At the end of the day, I think there's a lot of potential. It's just that much of it was wasted and I do not rule out a return, but I am not likely to come back anytime soon.

BUYER BEWARE! The first time we went to Dim Sum Factory, two…read moreweeks ago, we ordered several dishes, including Szechuan Fried Noodles, which was very good; A large order of long thick firm noodles, lots of delicious, tender, large pieces of chicken. So tonight we decided to order the Szechuan Fried Noodles to go. From the start it was a disaster! The person taking the order was disappointed when my wife just ordered one dish and pushed her to order more dishes. She refused. We only wanted the one. Then he tried to push her to pay cash instead of using her card. We arrived to pick up the order and he said, "You are very lucky. Tonight our best chef was here to cook your order!" LIAR We got home and all we had received was a pile of little broken, mushy, greasy, pieces of noodles mostly 1/2 to 1 inch long, 2 or 3 noodles perhaps 4 or 5 inches long, and 4 small pieces of chicken each approximately 1/2 inch across. And then looking closely we noticed bits of food that didn't belong there, peas and other bits and pieces we couldn't even recognize. My wife wouldn't eat it. And I unfortunately did have a plate. 20 minutes later I was very ill! We were abused, lied to, cheated, and served contaminated 'food'. I was going to give this 'restaurant' 2 stars because the first time we ordered the dish it was good. But this was SLOP! And after getting horribly sick because of it, I am giving it one star with good justification. AND I am filing a complaint with the health department. BEWARE. BEWARE!

Also ordered the sweet & sour chicken with fried rice and it was legit delicious. No complaints, just solid comfort food done right. Service was great -- shoutout to Kacey for taking care of us (and hooking it up with to-go cups for our sodas, which was a nice touch). The vibe was chill too -- clean space, relaxing piano music in the background, nothing chaotic. Even the fortune cookie was good, which honestly feels rare these days. The guy next to us ordered the garlic lobster and I'm still thinking about it... looked . Just don't order the coleslaw, its not your traditional coleslaw but instead lettuce with creamy sauce. We drove 35 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to get here and yeah -- I'd do it again.

I think we were the only customers there. We ordered a seafood boil, salt and pepper frog legs and a lunch combo of chow mein and beef. The portion of these are really good for the price. The seafood boil was plump and juicy. I did wish it was more flavorful though. The frog legs was really good though. Love how it was juicy and the texture. The chowmein had a really good wok flavor! Service is good too. Overall definitely will be back again, hopefully they get more business!
