Overall, this was one of the most disappointing dim sum experiences I've had. For $28.99 for AYCE, I expected a decent variety and enough food to actually make the experience worthwhile. Instead, the selection was very limited, and many of the dishes were available only in very small quantities. When something ran out, we had to wait a long time for it to be refilled. The dining area was also disappointing. For a restaurant presenting itself as a higher-end establishment, the tables and chairs were surprisingly cheap and uncomfortable. It was especially strange to see a large portion of the restaurant furnished with what looked like inexpensive tables and chairs. Again, the food tasted reasonably good, so this is not a complaint about the quality of the cooking. The problem is that the overall AYCE experience simply does not justify $28.99. Limited variety + long waits for refills + overcrowding + uncomfortable furniture + inadequate service = not worth the price. I would not return and cannot recommend this place. read more

It was my first time seeing dim sum served this way, so I thought, okay... I'm already here, let's just give it a try. But wow... the food was really disappointing. We were charged full price, yet each dim sum order took 20-30 minutes to arrive, and we were lucky if we received even one. We heard that some customers were able to preorder through the tablet, but our tablet was never turned on. We tried to use it, but it was locked with a password. We couldn't even find a server to help because there seemed to be only one server for about 40 customers. The one person at the front desk was handling check-ins, checkouts, and bussing tables. The restaurant was clearly severely understaffed. For the amount we paid, the experience was unacceptable. Regardless of party size, you'd be lucky to receive more than three rounds of dim sum. If I were the owners, I'd be concerned about the location jeopardizing the reputation they've built with the brand. We came with a party of 15 for dinner and there was just no care or attention to detail. The service was basically nonexistent. The tablet wasn't clear at all, and there were no instructions explaining whether we were supposed to order from the tablet or server. We constantly had to flag someone down for everything, which was especially frustrating with such a large group. The food was also really disappointing. Everything lacked flavor, and it honestly felt like the food was just being served to get it out rather than with any real attention to quality or taste. There was no care put into the food, and unfortunately, my stomach was hurting afterward. When a restaurant expands, you expect the same quality and standards as the original location. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. Very disappointing, especially considering all the hype this place gets on social media. I would absolutely skip this location. read more

Never got the option of popular dim sum items: har gao, chicken feet, rice rolls, duck (saw this on the video as we were eating!), etc...because you're bound to what's on the rolling carts and there are only a few dishes on them when they come out of the kitchen and they didn't even stop at our table half of the time. It'd be one thing if their buffet area had a good variety of things...but that was not the case. Not enough staff...I can't recommend this at this price. We wanted to try a new dim sum spot, but unfortunately, this place was a huge disappointment. No one was at the reception area when we arrived, so we had to track down a waiter for a table. Actually the waiting saw us standing there but ignored us. Finally got seated. No one ask what drinks we wanted. Again ignored. We ordered through the tablet and asked for ice water, only to be told there was a $2 charge for tap water. Are they joking???? Is that for real. We ordered Jasmine tea instead, which was thankfully good. We ordered four dishes, but after waiting about 25 minutes, one dish was still missing. BTW each dish came out one by one nice and slow. We were told there was an issue with the printer and our order (clay pot rice) never went through. We reordered it and were told another 15 minutes. Even after waiting, it still wasn't ready, and the manager wasn't in on a Sunday. The waitress just said oh I'm sorry. I'll remove it from your bill. I told her it was our first and last time going there. At that point, we decided to leave. Poor service, poor organization, and an overall frustrating experience. So disappointed! My family and I went yesterday morning as when they had just opened, excited to try out this AYCE dim sum. When we arrived, we were seated right away to a table that was dirty, it didn't look like it had wiped it down. I mean the table was covered with a paper table cloth but the glass part, the lazy susan was disgustingly gross. The table was set with dirty plates and dirty chopsticks. The floor obviously was not swept or cleaned from the night before because there was food all over it and it was so sticky, every step we made, our shoes stuck to the floor making that noise like we were peeling something off. The AI answering message completely butchers the name of the business, no actual human has picked up the phone, and no one has returned my voicemail. So... are they basically an online-order-only restaurant? Because if the food is that great, apparently you have to successfully locate a human being before you're allowed to find out. Flavored with soy and rice almost al dente. -chicken feet: large paw, tender, good flavor -Red bean purse: flaky, warm, flavorful. Would recommend. -steamed pork bun: fragrant bun, not a lot of filling. -rose scallop dumpling: like a shrimp dumpling with a scallop on top. It's good. -swan shaped duck pastry: must try. On the oily side from the duck. -daikon cake- not good. Cool, chewy feel from being stale. So much flour very little daikon. -sesame red bean ball: good. Our were very hot. The paste is sweet and smooth. -Dan Tat (egg custard cup): cold. Both if the pastry is soggy from sitting there. Sides were still flaky. The service was slow, it was painful to flag the down for refill of the tea pot. The restaurant look exactly the same as the last restaurant; Sun Sui Wah. They ran out of chairs and used metal folding chairs at some tables. Another underwhelming Bellevue Dim Sum place. They will go out of business soon. Sum Yee Kae replaced Sun Sui Wah in the same location. The local owner remains the same, but the restaurant is no longer associated with the BC, Canada Sun Sui Wah. Sun Sui Wah was great when it was on point, but it could be inconsistent. First, Sum Yee Kae is still in soft opening, so it's not 100% where they want it to be yet. And it shows. Service is fine, though nothing special. There are now tablets and (optionally) a QR code for phone ordering, which helps make dim sum service a little faster. But they still miss things (we had to point out two items we did not receive while there this time, so we could get them). Food was good, sometimes better than Sun Sui Wah's similar item, sometimes not. And when it was a "not equal," it was not great. Some dumplings (here's looking at you, shumai) had skins that were far too thick, especially on the bottom. More than half of the variety of dumplings we tried seemed oversteamed. When they got it right, the food was outstanding, but that was only about 25% of what we ordered. We'll give Sum Yee Kae another chance in a month or so. Hopefully, they work out the rough spots during the soft opening by then. read more

The interior looks pretty much exactly the same as from before they rebranded. Service was really fast and good as well. For food, we got a variety of dishes. Standout for me was the royal swan with roast duck. The pastry was super flaky and the filling was flavorful. Really yummy. Other items like the lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, bbq pork buns, and Chinese broccoli were okay. I was disappointed by the salted egg custard buns. Filling was good, but the bun part at the bottom was really dense. Bean curd was okay, though I don't prefer the oyster sauce. The steamed rice rolls had a weird chemical-y aftertaste? On top of that, the food is extremely low quality compared to what they advertise on social media. Dinner was good. Family style dishes. Ordering was a challenge- the kiosk on the dinning tables you had to order in Chinese. You can browse through the menu in english but ordering was definitely a challenge. We got creative by taking photos of the menu items and tried typing the order in using chat gpt- that was also a fail We finally asked for help and a kind gentleman helped us to take our order. Important to know- Dim Sum is not served in the evening. It's only served in the day until a certain time. I was told on Saturdays they stop serving by 2:30 pm. We're experienced dim sum'ers -- over many years sampling restaurants here, Vancouver BC & Hong Kong and I make several kinds of dim sum at home.. We arrived around 11:00 AM and there were only a few other patrons. We placed an order for sticky rice and then a few minutes later placed orders for another 5 dishes. About 20 minutes later the dishes started to arrive, but no sticky rice- we asked and they said there would be another 15 minutes. Most of the dishes were average, the dim sum wrappers were poor- Doughy- I get better from QFC, The stuffed Eggplant and the fried squid were excellent, the other dishes average . Overall service was inattentive - we had to ask for soy sauce & hot chili sauce and were generally ignored It was difficult to attract the waiter walking the room, even though there were still very few people. Several tables did come in, ordered a few items, and were gone before the sticky rice eventually arrived. Took a while to attract a waiter to pay our bill and we added sesame balls for dessert. Another 20 minutes before they came- This time the excuse was they had to be fried. Overall, a terrible experience and we won't be back read more

A friend and I went to Dim Sum Buffet today 09/22/2026 around 11AM. I found that the buffet portion of the foods were cold. The only item that appeared to have been warm was a mochi ball with a bean curd center. This included the century egg "soup" (congee). We waited 10 minutes patiently in the lobby and to have that happen I make a point with the manager that they just arrived and got seated, he gets irratated instead of being professional and shows me his phone that has a list and says her name that got seated and asked if I wanted him to call her from the phone to show proof it was them. Is that how you respond to customers? You should stay composed and explain and be apologetic rather then being defensive and realize there are people waiting in the lobby for someone to attend to them and for that to happen, know that people can get the wrong idea. No real apology, not real anything, though he did then seat us right after that. Sure, you're busy, sure, maybe understaffed. Thats on ownership and management. Don't vent that onto the customers. The food itself, its the exact same from previous restaurant. Actually, a tad over salted. The grouper was delicious though, well prepared, and fresh, for $70 it better be, and it delivered. Their dimsum dishes tasted mediocre and very very pricy. The space is great for large groups and feels really grand but dim sum was just so sad for some reason. I will start this review by saying the food was quite good! A highlight was definitely the xiao long bao and siu mai. Plus, the restaurant looks very clean and classy! The service on the other hand was a big miss. For a restaurant who had a line out the door, it was ridiculous that there was only one poor older gentleman who was running out food to tables. What is even more ridiculous is as this older man is hauling huge trays and carts of dimsum around, the other employees were carrying a couple of drinks or tiny desserts to tables! We did the all you can eat dim sum, and for having a 90 minute time limit you'd expect your food to come out within those 90 minutes. That was not what happened. My party spent most of the 90 minutes waiting to see if our food was even coming. My party had not even received the full first selection of dishes we ordered within the first 45 minutes to an hour! We thought we had been saved when an employee came to our table to ask what we were waiting for, to only bring 1 of 4 items we asked for. At this point our time was up, and even trying to get checked out was frustrating. We'd grab an employee's attention to come to our table, but before they could reach us they would get sidetracked and eventually forget about us. Then we'd have to find another person to help us out, of the very few people running around the restaurant. Either needs more staff or more organization! read more
