The service is quite slow. The stuffed eggplants tasted a bit off. We also ordered the wrapped chicken sticky rice but found Chinese sausage inside. The expectation is that a chicken dish should just be chicken meat and not mixed with other meat. Other dimsum dishes tasted just ok. read more

The logistics of this place are bordering on failing. We ordered ~15 items, got one shrimp ball order and the second and third ones we ordered came ~45min and 55min after the first after chasing them down. Ordered tea service, never got any. Had to chase them down for hot sauce, they brought one small condiment plate (with no utensil to share) for a party of six. Chased them down for soy sauce and more hot sauce. We were charged $3 for chilies. Had to chase them down for a missing fish dumpling and a second milk tea we had ordered. Had to carefully manage the bill and explain that we did not get several items. It was an almost two hour experience that really should have taken one. Even with the billing stress, I found the lack of sauce to start and the small offerings of sauce the most frustrating. The haw gow and milk tea were good, everything else was meh. The chow mein seemed undercooked and the rice rolls were thick and didn't have the smooth delicate bite that is so characteristic of rice rolls. The menu is way smaller than Sun suh wah and the tablet ordering/logistics of the new place are shockingly bad. Actually hard to think about this place without getting sad bc everyone is clearly working hard but nevertheless the service wasn't there. read more

Had an absolutely great dinner here with my family who came from out of town. The atmosphere was great and the staff was so kind/friendly and not to mention the food was TOP NOTCH. Our family splurged on the king crab (3 ways) and we did not regret it one bit. Heng Huang, our server was fantastic. He helped us with selecting the dishes we should try. Most of what we ordered were good, the cucumber, herbal chicken soup, steamed rock fish, the black pepper wagyu beef and the water spinach were very good, especially the steamed fish (very fresh). The crispy pork was not as crispy as it could be. The sweet and sour pork was a little bit disappointing. It did not have a lot of flavor. Lastly, the venue was very nice. Perhaps I had too high of an expectation from the looks off its interior or the location used to be a well known dim sum place in Vancouver, it was a big disappointment. The food range from mediocre at best to quite bad. The soup dumplings came in aluminum foil cups (?!) and half of them were already split open with no soup inside. The sit fried noodles were blend and frankly I could have done it better. The only dish that was memorable was the egg tart. It was freshly baked with a perfect flaky crust. Not only was the food forgettable, it was also expensive. Came out to be $145 for the four of us. I wish the new owner good luck and I will not be coming back. read more

I enjoyed my dim sum birthday lunch at Sum Yee Kae. Not your usual food on the cart place as everything was ordered online and the food was brought to the table. Most of the items we ordered were delicious. I especially loved the lemon tea with the ice-shaped bear. The restaurant was very clean, great lighting and tall ceilings. Other Dim Sum places have smaller portion sizes, but this place has much bigger portions and was pretty cheap. 10 dishes were about $80. The taste is also good! I've had Dim sum a few times in San Francisco, which is known for it's Cantonese cuisine. It is pretty onpar with dim sum places there, but also cheaper! Great find. read more

Need to be alerted when you pay the bill. The lady will get a machine with different type of percentage of tips. When you are still thinking how much tips should be given, she will ask you just to sign without your waiting you to push the tips button. You feel sorry not giving the tips ?! You're wrong. if you ask for the copy, she will give you the receipt with 25% tips given that you may not be willing to ! When you ask why ?! She says after you sign it, the machine automatically assigned the 25% tips with the bill . Just wonder what it Is !! read more

I had really high hopes for this place and I really want it to like it. Some positives first though. I do like the iPad ordering system, it makes it easy to look at pictures of what you want without waiting for a dim sum cart to go around. The decoration reminds me of an Asian wedding dining hall. The service was a mixed bag. The server was putting things on our table a little bit harshly so sauce would splatter all over the table. Otherwise we didn't have too many complaints. Now for the disappointing stuff. There were no condiments and sauces on the table. Which is unfortunate because a lot of the dishes we had could have used a little extra flavor. The xiu mai appeared to have been cooking or sitting in the warmer a bit too long. They were a bit dried out and the shrimp on top was a bit shriveled up. On the opposite end of the spectrum, our tripe and our rice rolls could have used more time In the steamer. The tripe wasn't tender and the rice rolls were still a bit hard and had that undercooked rice paper texture. The shrimp paste with the crab maw was quite bland so the missing condiments on the table could have helped the dish liven up a bit. The fried shrimp paste with crab claw was decent though. I was excited to try the braised beef short ribs, but my excitement died down once I saw the ribs were mostly fat. The swan and durian pastries were the best things we had but we probably won't come back here just for those two things. I really wanted to like this place but I left with full of regret :( read more

This restaurant was such an odd experience. We didn't know dim sum service stopped at a certain time which was the first disappointment. We told the server we had never been there before and asked him to explain the ordering process/if everything was served family style and he did not seem to want to . Once we figured it out on our own we ordered with him and we asked a few follow up questions about the menu and he told us that the crab was $88 a pound which didn't seem correct . The dishes we ordered came out every 10-15 minutes and everything was cold . Then they tried to serve us a plate of fried fish carcass which we didn't order . The server never came back to check on us and we desperately needed water . He avoided eye contact and we felt very unwelcome . I don't think the cold food was worth all the trouble we went through . When it was time to pay he had put the entire order on one tab that we had started through the QR code which was not what we wanted . So bizarre would never go back . read more

Service was slightly better than my previous visit, but unfortunately the food still doesn't justify the price. Overall quality was mediocre and portions were quite small for what you're paying. The pork shu mai in particular was disappointing--dense, bready, and lacking flavor. Many of the dishes felt heavy on carbs with little substance. Not terrible, but overpriced for what amounts to average dim sum at best. read more

This is my first time visiting this restaurant. The food is good, but the service is one of the worst I have experienced. The male waiter (the oldest one with glasses) and waitress wear all-black uniform and glasses are coughing without wearing masks. They are coughing next to us! Very disorganized service. Ordered dim sum at the opening. Servers kept serving food to tables that showed up 30-40 minutes AFTER we ordered. We had to chase down the server to get our order. I have eaten here several times and I have never been disappointed. Discovering this restaurant about a year ago the menu has been evolving into a more "authentic" Cantonese menu. The food has always been good to excellent quality and the service is always good. The old paper menus are gone and an electronic menu has replaced the paper one but sadly, it was not working on our visit. The excellent wait staff worked it out and we had a great time and a wonderful dining experience. The setting is slightly upscale but not formal. Most tables will seat up to 8 easily and large groups can be accommodated. I recommend ordering and eating "family style" for the best dining experience. read more

First time trying the rebranded version of this restaurant. Was quite pleased that the food and service has been improved (not that the previous restaurant in this spot was bad, we liked it and dined there several times). This visit was dinner. We had 2 appetizers/cold dishes: crushed cucumbers - a very subtle version of this dish, savory and ever so slightly spicy. Dry bean curd - more in your face flavor bomb, spicy and full umami. Subtlety of the cucumber hard to taste after this dish. 1 veggie: Peavines & mushrooms in broth - super flavorful greens cooked in chicken broth (not sure if they can make this version vegetarian). The best version of this dish that I've had in a while (in the Puget Sound) 1 noodle - Shanghai style noodles with seafood (I think). This one was ordered in Chinese with recommendation from our server. Whatever it was exactly may be a slight mystery... noodles seemed slightly yellow-curried, shrimp, egg, some cured pork, bell peppers. Whatever it's exactly called... it was exactly tasty. Huge portion that will probably cover us for lunch for a day or two. 2 meats - Thinly sliced roast duck with cucumbers in stock/sauce. This was a comp'ed dish from the kitchen. We didn't order it but appreciated it. Well roasted duck, not the BBQ duck, more like braised texture or oven roasted at a lower temp to fully cook the meat... I don't exactly know, but enjoyable. Had a bit of that duck funk that comes when the skin fat isn't fully rendered. Soy Sauce Chicken 1/2 order - this is like Hainan Chicken, but with a rosy bronzed skin from the chicken being seasoned with soy sauce before cooking. Really delicious and satisfying. Plenty for 2 people, especially with everything else we ordered. Finally, 1 dessert Sesame Balls - freshly made, hot at the table, exactly what you expect when that treat is exactly right. They had not been sitting around all dim sum service waiting for us to order them. Took some time to come out because they were made to order. Dig that! So yeah, we liked this new version of that other place. :) my partner had a long pleasant conversation with the server who closed out our tab. Friendly courteous service all around. Rebranded dim sum spot in Bellevue that comes off very high class looking. It is rebranded from the prior restaurant and has been open for 2 days now (soft open), and the same owners as prior. Service was very good, and currently the promotion being offered is free soup dumplings for tables of 4 or less (dine in only). The food for the price was not exactly to par with expectations. The Pan-Fried Daikon Cake with Chinese Sausage was very disappointing with Chinese sausage pretty much not present (see photos for spec of sausage diced up and hardly visible). For the price, the portion of pork belly was not satisfactory. The taste was just okay, but the skin was crispy and delicious. The chili oil here is high quality and adds a nice kick to each dish. The best thing we had was the sticky rice. There's a good meat to rice ratio, and even salted egg yolk. Not exactly what we expected consistency wise as it was not very sticky, but the flavor was top notch. The teddy bear milk tea was very cute, but not sweet at all and quite bitter in fact. This restaurant is not somewhere we will be itching to visit again in the near future, but is a nice option for dimsum without having to drive all the way to Seattle. read more

Came here for their soft opening and was honestly impressed. The dim sum was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care especially the shrimp dumplings and roasted duck. Everything came out hot and well-timed. Service was friendly and attentive without being rushed, and the restaurant felt clean and welcoming. Definitely one of the better dim sum spots in the area. The taro ball is my fav dim sum the menu said sold out, but as I finished my meal the table next Tous got an order. We will not be back.
