This was delightful. I met up with some friends on a very rainy night, so the restaurant was a little quiet - but there were clearly plenty of people coming in and out for takeout. The owner/manager was so kind - he introduced himself and seemed so grateful for us coming in. We opted for the meal option - where we selected an entree that came with fried rice, egg drop soup, and an egg roll. I got the beef and broccoli and it was delicious. As a table, we also shared spicy dumplings which were good. I loved that they also had a buy one, get one menu. I'll rate this place a 4 due to great service but overall it's a 3 on taste for your standard American Chinese. Lunch specials are $18 which is a bit extreme but the portions can provide someone with multiple meals. The chicken and broccoli, kung pao chicken, sweet and sour pork and green beans with chicken are all good. The fried rice is just ok and the soup is hit or miss. If you want Americanized Chinese food this is really one of the only places on the Eastside. Definitely worth a try! read more

Since I was craving rice, my friend brought me to a Chinese restaraunt called @best_wok , and the food was authentic and comforting! We got the Chef Special Dinner for Two, which consisted of egg flower and won ton soup, barbecue pork, orange chicken, kung pao beef and fried rice all for $60! The staff were incredibly friendly and sweet as we talked story and exchanged laughters talking about the Zero purse I was wearing and how our servers daughter loved The Nightmare Before Christmas Disney movie, too! They were especially appreciative of us trying to speak to them in their dialect (Mandarin). The interior of the restaraunt felt very homey, and they also had a cute fish tank display where we ate at! The only thing I could note was that I wish the soup portions were a bit larger. read more

Large menu with American-Chinese classics, executed well, but having inconsistent portion sizes with high prices. There are A LOT of authentic Chinese restaurants in Bel-Red for the large Asian population that lives in the area. Sometimes, you just want to eat comfort food, Americanized Chinese food that you can find all across the country and chains like Panda Express have made standards. My wife really wanted a good egg drop soup on this cold Seattle day, so my daughter suggested Best Wok as a good choice, ordering carry-out for the four of us. The two locals amongst us had eaten before (both dine-in and carry-out), and were really happy with the dine-in experience (good service, large portions, great taste). There is a slight discount for cash, and the order was ready within 10 minutes of placing our order; it was still hot by the time we got back to the apartment. White rice was separate, so she skipped that since she had rice back at home. Everything tasted good. The large egg flower soup ($12 was excellent, it looked like it would be too gelatinous, but it wasn't...and the sweet corn was a great add. The Dragon and Phoenix ($30) was OK, consisting of a half portion of sauteed seafood (in white sauce) and a half portion of General Tao Chicken. For the price, it was disappointing: small amount of medium size shrimp, not much scallops. The General Tao chicken used freshly breaded white chicken and the sauce was good. The Pan Fried Noodles ($20) was a good size, with a large quantity of chow mein given (this is what actually gave our entire meal heft and allowed us not to be hungry after finishing everything). Zucchini was very prevalent in the dishes, being used as the filler vegetable. Would strongly recommend eating in, if possible, since it sounds like they do a better job of matching the portions and sizes with the pricing. read more

This is what I've been looking for!!! I am so picky about my Chinese food. My favorite place as a kid in Las Vegas closed many years ago and I have never found anywhere that tastes the same anywhere I've lived. I love my kung pao chicken with no veggies just peanuts and chicken. Best Wok delivered the nostalgia of good homemade Chinese food I have been missing for many years. The restaurant even gave me that same feeling before I got my food. I drove past here a few times when I take a back way home from work in Kirkland and I'm so glad I finally ordered. The man working was so friendly and thorough and these portions are huge. I ordered via Yelp for pick up. I am now the biggest Best Wok fan and I can't wait to come back and bring friends and family. I have driven by Best Wok for many years, but had not stopped by. I had a yearning for Mu Shu Pork and Shrimp Toast and decided to give them a try for some take-out. The restaurant was very nice, as was the proprieter who took my order. It took about 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I waited in front in their comfortable waiting area on a padded bench. There were free almond cookies to munch on as I waited. Most of the customers who came into eat while I waited were Chinese, so I anticipated a good meal. The food was ready and I went home to eat. The four pancakes were warm and fresh. They had included three containers of plum sauce, and four containers of sauce for the shrimp toast. The Mu Shu Pork was terrific, a great blend of pork, cabbage, and carrot, freshly made and delicious. The shrimp toast was also wonderful, crispy on the outside and shrimpy on the inside. There was way too much to eat, so there will be plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. I really loved the food, and I will certainly return another time soon. Five stars! read more

Surprise of the night: their old fashion was fantastic! We ordered take out from them several weeks ago and it was so good we had to come in person. We've had the chicken chow mein, seasame beef, kung pao chicken and the wonton soup. Wonton soup is amazing, the broth is so savory and comforting. My first mistake was thinking l deserved as much respect as other paying customers. Second mistake... maybe l should have tipped on the take out order. I placed my order, paid the 3% card fee and was told 15 mins. I waited. And waited. I saw how the cashier called out names and offered them napkins and forks. I stood up several times just so he would notice me. He did. After about 30 mins, it became obvious that my food was ready in a bag behind the counter and that l was never going to get it. The cashier was indifferent and ignored me. Finally l had to ask. He gave me the same bag l had been staring at... no napkins, fortune cookie, fork. I did get cold food. I ordered pork chow mein. I was served pork lo mein. When I questioned what I was served, the waiter said this was all they have. There is huge difference between lo mein and chow mein. I was surprised that the pork was not what I envisioned, i.e., coin-sized slices with red border. Of course not, since it was cooked with the noodles and wasn't coin-shaped; it could have been more tender. Service was more than excellent. The first time I had Best wok was over 10 years ago. And it is by far the most consistent thing I've ever had in my 32 years of life. I went here when they were still serving cute little homemade jello cups (which I truly miss). I know people that have dined here throughout their whole lives. It's such a standard that whenever somebody brings up "I used to live in the area and this Chinese restaurant is so delicious, we went there all the time until I moved away" has happened at least 3 times to me and it's always been Best Wok. It's what I picture every single time I want Chinese food. The dishes come out piping hot and at an abundance. I mean, I can order one dish and one side and really it would be a meal prep for a few days. If you're like me, I'm always torn between wonton soup and egg drop... this place puts wontons IN the egg drop. The mooshu pork is a solid choice, whenever I've ever ordered anything seafood- it's cooked perfectly. The veggies are tender and sweet. Take out is always hot even when we pick up and drive all the way back to Seattle. The service is UNMATCHED. Extremely attentive and friendly. Your water will never be empty. Never. read more

We've been coming to Best Wok for years. Great Hunan cuisine, very similar dishes to the ones I had growing up in the NY Metropolitan area. They even have my favorite appetizer Shrimp Toast, the first (and only) place I've found it in the PNW. Today I got the Mongolian Chicken; they prepare it with mushrooms added, so I asked for just onions & scallions. At 2 stars it was flavorful, but a little bland. All ingredients were fresh and well-prepared (no giant hunks of chicken to hack up to actually fit into one's mouth). It's a very pleasant family-friendly vibe. I was disappointed to see they're still using styrofoam containers for To Go food. I hope they change that soon, so I can bump them up to 5 stars! Service is always prompt, polite and professional.
