This was yummy beyond yummy! I literally always pass by this place whenever I'm at Crossroads, more so to eat at So Tasty or walk around Crossraods Mall. This time, my friends and I looked up this place on a whim and realized, "Oh it's so close to Crossraods! Why don't we just eat here then?" Also one of my friends was craving katsu that same day so we had to come here. You can use parking out on the nearby streets or at a nearby parking lot close to the building, or perhaps nearby Crossroads Mall parking if you're multi-tasking over there. It's a very casual feel inside with an ample number of tables for eating (some with some pretty odd walls separating them) and booths for larger groups. There's a ton of dishes you can get here like bento boxes, yakisoba, bibimbap and other things given it serves both Japanese and Korean food. I got the katsu bento box, which came with a ton of sides like rice, salad, yakisoba noodles, gyoza, egg rolls and shrimp tempura. There was also a choice to order just yakisoba, but I like how it's provided as a side for our bento. Everything was fresh, good, and delicious! My favorite was the katsu itself since it came and stayed piping hot while I was eating, and meat was juicy beyond juicy with the outer crust being mildly crunchy just as it should be. Yakisoba noodles were full of taste, and the fried stuff added a nice kick to the rest of the bento. I don't have anything to say on service here since it was quick and most utensils were self-serve. For places like these that serve more than one kind of cuisine, I'll definitely come back especially with the surrounding area having a ton of great places to eat including this one! read more

This is some of the best quality and best tasting teriyaki you can get in the area (Redmond, Kirkland, Woodinville, etc) It takes a little longer than other places but considering how flavorful it is and how high quality the food is. The meat is amazingly good quality. I get weirded out by meat easily and I am able to eat all of it without picking and choosing certain parts I love that they have bento boxes so I can get a little of everything. This is one of the best teriyaki places in the area and here's why: they get solid char on their chicken. The spicy chicken teriyaki has at least some spice to it unlike most places. They give you a lot, they add green onion and onion to their spicy chicken (spicy chicken is my go to). Most of all, they do something different from everyone else. I liked their chicken teriyaki, the rice was good and the vegetables though mostly cabbage did have a little bit of broccoli at least. The second time I went I got beef and broccoli and it was the absolute lowest quality beef I've ever had in my life and I'm not joking. I've gotten dinner here countless times and every time is a total win! I usually pick it up or have it delivered, so I can't speak much about the service inside but I'm sure it's as good as their food. I've had the teriyaki chicken bento box, the chicken katsu box, and the bulgogi box. All were delicious and amazing! The salad dressing is really yummy too. Stopped here for a late lunch after a long cold hike. The lady behind the counter was extremely friendly and very accommodating. I got the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. The chicken itself was nice and tender but far from spicy. The potstickers were decent and the egg rolls and shrimp tempura were nice and crispy and flavorful. The noodles has a nice chew and texture but were extremely salty. A pretty solid portion of food for the price. I just wish the flavors were bolder and punchier and not toned down; it seemed like an authentic place decided to tone things down for the American palate. My wife got the hot stone bibimbap with tofu. The bowl looked really pretty and everything was fresh. It was still, yet again, mild on flavor. Bibimbaps are one of my favorite Korean foods and I have had a lot of them over the years; the strong flavors are always the main attraction. Would definitely love to see those come through more. Decided to order takeout from this place and was not disappointed. I saw that this place has really good reviews so wanted to check it out. We ordered the short ribs bento box, which came with rice, 6 pieces of ribs, a shrimp tempura, a large piece of egg rolls, two potstickers, a small portion of yakisoba and side of salad. We also order a side of sautee veggies. The ribs was juicy and tender and everything else was also very tasty. I like that there was a lot of variety in the bento box. the portion of the sautee veggie was also very reasonable for the price. I think the price is a little high for the short ribs, but maybe because it is higher quality meat than chicken and pork and stuff, because the prices of the other bento was more reasonable and the quantity was also more. One thing that feels a little off to me, the combo bento doesn't come with that much variety as the regular bento. it comes with rice and salald, which to me is just another entree. I would have totally gotten the combo if it wasn't for the fact that it doesn't come with the eggrolls, yakisoba, etc. The food is good enough that I would come back though and try their other dishes. read more

I checked out Joy Box while I was visiting the region, there's a lot of options in the area. It's a Korean fusion restaurant. I ordered a Beef Short Rib (Galbi) Bento which comes with an egg roll. The portions are healthy including the meat. The meat was prepared alright. It might not have been the best I've ever had, but it was pretty good for what I've had in the region. There's no salad that comes with your plates of meat... only rice, and welll.... that's not a well balanced bento at all. The prices aren't too cheap either for what they are serving. I feel like you get a better deal at coco Izakaya. Also I feel like their chicken katsu is missing something, and their curry isn't as tasty. Anyways, I ordered the spicy pork bento box and was surprised at how nicely organized and packed full of food it was. The vegetable yakisoba was delicious, spicy pork was ample and not too spicy atop plenty of rice, salad came with the dressing on the side (which was a good call), but the gyoza, prawn tempura and eggroll were a bit soggy by the time I got to them, but with it being all sealed together in the togo container, I'm sure the moisture from the heat likely contributed to that... it was still good and the portion size lasted me for 2 meals. My girlfriend and I have ordered takeout from here a few times already and each experience has been great so far! The service is super friendly and nice, and the food is pretty good. We've only gotten the bento boxes so far and its really a good bang for your buck; so much food! The last time we went, we got the spicy pork bento box and the katsu bento box. Each bento box comes with a salad, dumplings, yakisoba, eggrolls, tempura shrimp, and sauces/dressing on the side. The spicy pork was well seasoned, tender, and almost tastes like something you could get at Korean BBQ. The katsu was fried really well and even after taking it to-go, it was still really crispy by the time we ate it back home. The katsu box came with a tonkatsu sauce on the side. The sides were given in generous portions. The yakisoba was also really flavorful but a bit on the oily side. The eggroll and tempura shrimp were also very crispy even after taking the food to-go. The fresh salad was indeed quite fresh and came with a side of dressing. Based on the couple of times I've gone for dinner, this place isn't really known for its dine in experience. Most people only come for to-go or pick-up. As a tip, if you don't plan to dine in and don't want to wait the ten minutes for your food to be ready, you can order online with the Yelp app. Overall, Joybox is a great place to go if you want a filling meal for a decent price! read more

Joybox just opened three months ago so it wasn't too busy but it will absolutely blow up in my opinion in popularity. There's 4-6 outdoor seats and plenty of indoor seating (serviceable for large groups as well!). Ordered at the counter, and sat down at one of many of the open tables. I got a chicken teriyaki bento. $12.99 for an amazingly large platter of rice + 2 layers of teriyaki chicken + small salad + 2 deep fried dumplings + noodles + shrimp tempura + egg roll. Yes. It was a lot. See hand for scale! Joybox also has two bathrooms, and a ramp to the entrance. Plenty of parking. Free hot tea or cold water. Lots of sauces on the side available for use. Fast service. Joybox has replaced the Fuji Teriyaki that had been there for over a decade! I'm very pleased with the food, and I can't wait to try more. We ordered the chicken bento and veggie tempura to share between two. We live super close so it was still hot and crisp when we got it back home.
