This place is an excellent spot to grab a no-frills lunch if you're nearby, and the food is pretty dang good, too! The entrance is in an ally between 106th and 108th -- not hard to find, but it's in a weird spot. When you walk in, you'll see a cash register and two self-ordering touchscreen kiosks to the left. The kiosk was fine, but when I tried using it, it didn't work for me - it got to the payment page, but wouldnt connect to the internet or something. It wasnt a big deal - I let the employee know and they rung me up on the main register -- easy. Got here around 11:30 before the lunch rush and it was pretty quiet. There are about 6 tables inside. I got spicy chicken teriyaki - what I usually get when I first try a place out. It's low risk. Served half and half in a tray - chicken and rice -- the salad and extra sauces were on the side. The salad was super basic (just lettuce), but it was crisp and fresh, served with a standard sesame dressing, also on the side. They packed all orders to go, which was a little weird, but I guess it's efficient... just a little wasteful and awkward if you're eating in. I was so stuffed -- i didn't finish everything, which is unsual -- it was a ton of food. Lots of chicken. Lots of rice. A correct amount of salad. It was awesome portions. The spicy chicken teriyaki wasn't anything special - a little spicy, not too sweet, but it was nice and hot and fresh. The sauce they give you is normal teriyaki sauce, not special spicy sauce, which is nice. It isn't cloyingly sweet - again, pretty basic and normal. I didn't visit before then, but am glad this is walking distance to the office, with another lunch option to choose from. My friend and I visited Sapporo Teriyaki for lunch on a Thursday and the place was pretty busy with takeout orders since the space inside is on the smaller end, but has tables and chairs for dining in. When I ordered, my friend and I waited for about 15 minutes. Not too shabby. It's also nice that you can order and pay on a screen, making service faster. It's nice that the menu has a lot of different options beyond basic chicken teriyaki. I like spicy teriyaki, so ended up with that, and was able to choose brown rice and steamed veggies instead of the usual white rice and salad. However, I will say that I was disappointed in how few broccoli pieces I had compared to the carrots for the steamed veggies option. Teriyaki was solid though. It wasn't that spicy, but had a hint of kick to it. The teriyaki sauce is sweet and thick, so not my favorite. With that said, I like that they have the teriyaki sauce on the side versus slathered on the meat, allowing patrons to choose how much sauce they want. The plus is that with the slightly longer wait, you get freshly grilled tender chicken, not too heavy on sauce but comes with extra sauce on the side in case you prefer heavier flavor. Sapporo Teriyaki was my go-to teriyaki restaurant during my three month stay in Seattle. It was conveniently next to my gym and hotel so it was routine for me to order chicken teriyaki to-go after my workout for dinner. The interior is small and a little dirty, but that's part of the charm of Seattle's ubiquitous teriyaki restaurants that dot the suburbs. Sapporo is run by a quiet, old Korean man who comes off a little shy at first but gets to be pretty friendly one you get to know him. The prices are comparable to other teriyaki restaurants and the portions are slightly larger. My go-to order is the chicken teriyaki with steamed vegetables. I've gotten the katsu and the spicy teriyaki chicken but frankly don't think either of them are worth it. The spicy teriyaki chicken is a dollar extra when you can just get the spicy condiment and add it to the teriyaki yourself. There is a meal deal to get potstickers with your chicken but I personally just stick to the basic teriyaki. The chicken is always juicy and tasty with a nice bit of char for added flavor. They include the teriyaki sauce on the side which is great if you're trying to watch your calories. You get the option of a salad or steamed vegetables which I always get the latter. Nothing too special, the veggies were fine. Rice was fine, nice bite and not too mushy when you eat it. You can help yourself to the chili sauce which is nice, and they have free wifi if you dine in. Takeout orders over the phone are quick and painless and the food is usually ready in under 10 minutes. Sapporo is by far my favorite teriyaki restaurant in the area and I will keep coming back. read more

Sapporo teriyaki has been my go-to place for 20 years. It is close to Microsoft campus, and it used to be freaking delicious. However, after many owner and menu changes, the food quality has gone downhill. It just isn't as tasty as it used to be and it has gotten to the point that I've started checking out other local teriyaki places. My standby is the spicy chicken teriyaki. The portion size is good. The chicken pieces come out lathered in chili sauce. I opt for the default, but if you ask for only white meat, you can get that. They offer brown rice for a dollar more, and you can choose salad with a choice of dressing or steamed veggies. I've often eaten the yakisoba and sukiyaki. They are also decent, and you can ask for them spicy. Occasionally I've had the chicken katsu, which is fine. My biggest complaint is the chicken is not cooked right any more. It used to be charred and full of flavor, now it is bland and usually has no char at all. The menu used to be Japanese food only, and now features Chinese food among other things. Why do these places try to branch out? You can't do all things well, so you end up doing all things mediocre. One good thing is that the dining room is a good size and you can often pull several tables together to accommodate a larger group. This place used to be a solid 4 stars+ for me, but my interest has waned. I have other places I go to when I'm elsewhere that I'm comparing Sapporo to. read more

I'm not at all troubled by the plethora of teriyaki restaurants in the area. If anything, I welcome any opportunity to get such a quick and easy meal for a low price. And so I walk in here with ten dollars and leave without having spent any more than that. This restaurant is right across the street from Nasai Teriyaki, and I would say the two places are comparable in quality. Neither of them are going to win any awards, but they're good for the purpose that they serve. As usual for places like this, you order at the counter. The menu is displayed above. Wait times are reasonable, and they have a TV. Portion sizes are decent; I figure they want to give you a lot to make you come back. And to be honest, it works on me. Another cool thing about Sapporo Teriyaki is that you can substitute the nutritionally vacuous lettuce for some broccoli and carrots. There are your vitamins and minerals for the day. read more

I have frequented this restaurant several times over the past year, and each time I am quite satisfied with the experience. Their bread and butter is the spicy chicken teriyaki which is just the right amount of spicy kick and tasty tender chicken. If this is your first time going there, you should definitely try it out! I think I end up ordering that the most but I've also had a chance to try out their salmon teriyaki, regular teriyaki, yakisoba and their curry. All of these dishes are really excellent and the price to food ratio is very good. I always walk away stuffed and happy. Each of their platters comes with rice (optional brown rice available) and you can choose between a side salad or steamed veggies. I am not a huge salad fan so I generally end up going for the veggies - which is nice because it's a healthy compliment. On the few occasions that I've had their salad, I distinctly remember their sesame seed and italian dressing which is better than the dressings I usually get at other teriyaki restaurants. They recently had a remodel and the place looks a light brighter and more appealing to my senses. It's a welcome change and I also appreciate the addition of a flat screen TV that I can watch while I eat. The family that owns the restaurant is extremely cordial and have offered to change the channel to whatever I like when I'm eating there. It's that friendly touch that helps make this place standout. I feel they are genuine and helpful -- and that they appreciate my business. Overall - I think people should give this place a shot. If you need a good teriyaki fix and you're near Redmond, you need to check it out. The prices are very reasonable considering you're on the eastside and that it's nearby the Microsoft campus. The teriyaki sauce they offer is good on rice, and there's something to the juxtaposition of a ranch-topped salad alongside some sriracha-coated teriyaki meat that grabs me. While living with friends attending DigiPen in Redmond, I ate here twice a week for a year. I recently returned during Penny Arcade Expo, as I was staying on the Eastside, and it hasn't changed a bit. It's my considered opinion that this is one of the top 2 teriyaki joints in the Greater Seattle area. This is about as good as it gets here. I've lived here over 12 years and have sampled many other teriyaki restaurants and this one beats them. This opinion is shared by a multitude of other Microsoft employees who eat there religiously. The basic dish is the teriyaki chicken. If you want something with a bigger flavor, try the beef or pork. The spicy chicken is outstanding, but very spicy. This place is very, VERY average. Food is nothing special, and not very noteworthy; but for whatever reason, I bring my work crowd there all the time. The staff is somewhat distant, and almost feel like fast-food workers, but that's not generally a problem. I particularly like their chicken curry dish, and right now, it's the only thing I get here. We go there at least once a month, and have been for almost 8 years. Kid friendly. I love their "Chicken Breast" (#2 I think). Everyone seems to go for their "special", Spicy Chicken. I just order #2 every time... Pour lots of that teriyaki sauce (!) from the bottle on the table, and it's just perfect... My wife says that their chicken is "dry". It may be, somehow it is part of the charm. Don't ask me, go try it... OH I don't like their "liquid disposal bucket" (!) where you empty your tray. Couldn't they hide it inside a cabinet?
