Looks like we have another good Chinese spot to add to our rotation. The restaurant is not fancy, but it was pleasant enough, and clean and airy. The dishes we had seemed quite authentic and were nicely prepared. We especially liked the croaker fish (not fried) and the tasty sauce it came in. Mostly Mandarin-speaking customers were eating there, which is often a good sign of authenticity, lol. The wait staff was very helpful. This was our first visit, but we will definitely be back to this little restaurant hidden away in Newport Hills to try some of the other things on the menu.

I used to eat Northeast Chinese style food quite a bit when I lived in San Jose. I was craving it for awhile and my coworker informed me there was a place by me so I decided to give it a try. This restaurant is located in a strip mall in Newport Hills. This specific spot used to be a video rental place. Outside looks a bit old but they did a pretty good job with the interior decor. I mainly came here to try Guo Bao Rou, which is basically Tang Soo Yook (Sweet and Sour pork). And man!! This place really nailed it. It was not overly sweet and there was a lot of the ginger flavor. It was fried to perfection. I think they used a rice based coating and It was chewy, crispy, and delicious. Highly recommended. And then there was a whole fish dish that was only written in Chinese on the wall. Our server told us that it was "yellow fish". I assume it was yellow tail? There were two different options - spicy and salty - and we went with Spicy. This was excellent. If you want to order this, just show them my photo below. Warning - they leave the fish head on. If you get grossed out by something like that, don't order. The rest of the dishes were not as memorable. Overall everything was quite good but it was a bit too salty for my taste, especially the noodle dish. See the photos attached for what I got to try today. Service was not bad but the employees here do not speak perfect English. Usually this is not a problem but today they gave and charged me 2 orders of Double Cooked Pork Slices... The dish is called double cooked pork ... Not that I wanted double the order. I guess I was part of the communication problem. But oh well! It was the best dish of the day. Also one warning is that many of their dishes have peanuts in them. If you have peanut allergies, make sure you proactively and clearly communicate that to the server. My son is severely allergic to nuts so I had to use Google translate to let the server know. And even after that, one of the dishes still came out with peanuts in it. They apologized and took the dish back, so no foul no harm was done but I just wanted to note this. Overall, I really enjoyed the restaurant. I think the food is quite authentic. Everything is family style (i.e. huge portions), so do not order one dish per person. For the amount food you get, I would say this place is very affordable They do not take reservations but accept all major credit cards.

Every dish is flavorful, well-portioned, and comes piping hot. The service is friendly and quick; however, the restaurant is small and does not take reservations, so expect a wait during peak lunchtime hours and on weekends. My favorite items are the seafood pancake and the tofu soup (soonduboo jigae). I LOVE seafood pancakes, and this one is crispy, light, and packed with shrimp, squid, and mussels. It comes with a delicious sauce that I can't get enough of. The tofu soup is hearty and balanced, and has meatballs, shrimp, mussels, squid, and scallops, along with a side of rice and banchan. The tofu is soft and creamy, and the rice is perfectly cooked. I don't usually eat white rice at home, so this really hits the spot! The fried chicken is crispy and juicy, and on par with other Korean fried chicken places I've tried in the area. The restaurant itself is clean, sleek, and comfortable for a quick lunch or hangout with friends.

Their sundubu is really quite good, with a nice variety of seafood sprinkled in generously. Their banchan is nice, too, including a really crunchy and fresh radish kimchi. They don't have too much in the way of vegetarian or vegan options, and their veggie dolsot bibimbap still has oyster sauce in it. They have lunch combos that could definitely feed two. Service is fast and attentive and friendly, and food comes out promptly. Overall a good option for Korean food if you don't want to go all the way to Federal Way.

So we got one Seolleong Tang and one Kalbi Tang. The broths were not the same, the Kalbi Tang broth was quite a bit clearer and plainer. The Seolleongtang came with shredded meat, while the Kalbi Tang had big chunks of meat and bone, it was quite a bit bigger but the broth wasn't the same as promised and was a bit tasteless. Furthermore, when we brought our leftover soups home, neither of the broths solidified when refrigerated. That is a key tell-all, because real Seolleongtang broth made from ox bones and rich in collagen and nutrients would congeal when refrigerated. So I highly recommend not ordering their low quality Seolleongtangs. The banchan dishes were fine, I wish they gave you more options as I would've liked to try some of their other sides to see if I wanted to buy some since they sell the banchan dishes in a refrigerated case. I also got the wings with the onion powder on them very unique and different flavor but way too expensive. Restaurant is small with lots of tables packed in. It felt a little stuffy. They were pretty busy but I didn't have to wait. The service was friendly enough. Overall unfortunately the experience was regrettable. Disappointed because I wanted to like this place but I'll have to drive further away to find better quality Korean food.

OK, still haven't stepped in this very busy, Chinese grocery store, but got to eat a birthday cake…read morepurchased from there. If one likes mangos, their mango strawberry cake is a dream. Costing under $60, the large cake was beautifully made and decorated. Like other Asian bakeries (e.g. Paris Baguette, Tous Les Jours, 85 C), the cake was chiffon with whipped cream and was quite good. But what made it stand out was how mango and strawberries were incorporated into the design AND how it tasted. Mangoes were thinly sliced and used like fondant to COVER the entire top of the cake. Then chopped mangos and whole strawberries were added on top to decorate it even more. Fondant is great to make the cake look good, but I don't like it as an edible product (it's like eating pure sugar for me). Ripe mango, on the other hand, I could eat all day...and this version was ripe without being overly so. The cake came well packaged in a travel container, and included a cake cutter, signage, and a candle. The four of us could barely make a large dent in it (maybe a 1/3), even though it didn't use buttermilk frosting, but used really good whipped cream instead. I think it's twice the size of a Tous Les Jour large (which is usually what our family gets for birthdays), and wasn't that much more.

When I asked an employee whether any vegetable bao were still available, she told me--clearly and confidently--that there were. I specifically questioned this, pointing to the "sold out" sign, yet she insisted that they were not sold out and proceeded to package four for me. When she handed me the box, I asked again--explicitly--whether these were vegetarian. For a third time, she assured me that they were. After a two-hour drive home, I opened the box to find that I had been given pork bao. This was not a minor oversight. I asked multiple times and received repeated, unequivocal assurances. At that point, this ceases to be a simple mistake and reflects either a complete disregard for accuracy or a willingness to mislead a customer to move product. Neither is acceptable. Customers rely on staff to provide correct information, especially when dietary preferences or restrictions are involved. The failure here was not just operational--it was a failure of basic honesty and accountability. This experience left me feeling violated, disrespected, and taken advantage of. It is extremely disappointing that such conduct can occur in a business that presents itself as reputable. One interaction like this is enough to severely damage trust in the store as a whole.

Update: yes, I have food poisoning :( I want to emphasize here that I'm not new to the conveyor concept. I've been doing conveyor Sushi for 20 years or more, but this is the first time I've ever seen. We're just the plates are covered with a film of filth. One possible cause of the film is that they do not use the right rice for Sushi, which is with a slightly starchy short grain polished rice. (Calrose is a good example) This is made with a very very starchy short grain rice with minimal if any seasoning and it's very sticky and if you're not scrubbing the layer of starch this rice leaves or not washing in hot enough water then it's not gonna come clean. But it's frustrating because also if they just used the proper rice, this shouldn't have been a problem? The rice shouldn't be so starchy that it stick to everything it touches Anyway, it seems to have built up layers upon layers and if you scratch it like I did in the lower right corner of the photo with the red plate you see that it comes up. I don't understand how nobody in the kitchen notices this. How other people dying here how could they miss this? I've included the photo of the red plate, but it was literally every single plate some of the conveyor some of the little car and how can the staff not see that this is just not clean ?!?! I'm not sure in the cause but what I am sure on is that I have food poisoning now and all of those plates were covered with a dirty film

This was on a Friday night at almost 6pm and my friend and I came in to a nearly empty interior that filled up throughout our stay. Is it just dinnertime that time or were my friend and I bringing in the crowds? You'll enjoy a very clean and well-kept restaurant with clean tables and chairs, with lighting that's very little but lights up the whole place well. Menu has a lot of offerings (both regular and vegetarian) but since it's dinnertime I decided on a rice dish as usual. I got their beef short ribs rice dish, which has their usual marinated short ribs with a fried egg and veggies. I actually liked how they offered their rice in a separate bowl, and everything else on one plate... which means the meat almost covered my whole plate! By the way, my friend got their grilled pork chop rice dish, and the meat also almost completely covered his plate. Both our meats were marinated so well and held in so much flavor, and came off their bones easily. We both agreed the grilled beef short rib dish I ordered was the winner because of the bolder and more defined marinated taste of the meat. I've tried so many Vietnamese restaurants and almost exclusively get their beef short ribs rice on the first visits of them, but this is the first time I've seen meat portions this huge for a rice dish. I'm thinking of coming back here for another visit even if I have to deal with the tight parking plaza this place is close to.
