TL;DR: Very authentic and fresh tasting produce. Novel. Hotpot takes about 20 minutes or more to fully cook. Parking: small shared lot. Atmosphere: oriental decor and very much feels like an oriental grandma's kitchen, especially with the tiles on the dining tables. There is a separate room off to the side that is isolated for larger parties. Menu: all on an electronic tablet. Some photos provided and very little to no descriptions. Best do dine with someone well versed in the dishes but you can manage on your own without too. Everything here is pretty authentic and their signature hotpot with the steamed bread around the outer edge is good. Nothing is overly sweet/salty/spicy. Depending on which iron pot you order, you will end up waiting around 20 minutes for it to cook before you can eat. Best to order side dishes. I found that all the veggies used for all dishes were great and not overcooked and mush compared to other places. Cucumber Salad was very refreshing and crunchy. No very spicy at all if you don't eat the peppers, which I appreciate! Kid Friendliness: highchairs, plastic cups with straws.

Came here for lunch with some friends, we made a reservation but there wasn't any line so you probably don't have to worry about it. I've never had this particular style of Chinese cuisine before so I wasn't sure what to expect. We got stir-fried cabbage with glass noodles, crispy sweet & sour pork, and the pork spare-rib iron pot with mantou as the carb on the side. I was really happy with the cabbage and the iron pot; the sweet & sour pork was just fine. I definitely think for the price the iron pot should have come with much more meat, it was five of us eating and I feel like I barely got any! But in terms of flavor, it was solid and I would probably come back. Also, you may want to order extra mantou/carbs for a larger group since the menu set up is a bit confusing (it says the max is 2) but you can order more and we'd definitely prefer to have more. Would recommend coming here with a group of 3-4 which seems to me would be the sweet spot for the amount of food in the iron pot.

Came here with a small group so we didn't try the big iron pot but based on the three dishes we ordered, we will be back for sure. Had the fried yellow croaker. It was very crunchy and enjoyable. The home made five color jelly noodles are tasty as well. The noodles reminds me of hot pot sweet potato noodles. Chewy and springy with lots of other textures including black fungus, carrots, tofu noodle strips. Our third dish was the crispy sweet and sour pork. It was enjoyable too. Crunchy thin sliced marinated pork. Great with alcohol or hot tea. The black sesame soy milk was good too. Not sweet which is what we like. The ambiance was quite nicely decorated with red floral patterns. The staff was attentive. We look forward to returning.

Wowzer, came here with zero expectations and not knowing what this place was other than my friends saying "trust, it's good". And yes, it was very good :) For those who want a bit more spice and/or different type of Chinese food, Dongbei is a great spot to check out Northern Chinese style cuisine. Things to note: Reservations: For groups of 6+, you can call in for a reservation. Otherwise, expect a wait during peak hours. There is a handy yelp wait list machine as you enter, so don't miss that Parking: Huge lot outside the restaurant Food Ordering: All done through an IPad. English and Chinese language available Food portions: If you're in a group, recommend ordering a lot of small dishes to share and 1 large stew pot for the main course :) Perfect for family style. For my group of 6, we ordered 8 small dishes and 1 pot. It was a good amount where we ate pretty much everything and nothing to bring home. Food: Honestly, can't remember the exact name but can go by looking at my yummy food pics: 1. Skewers: Very yummy~ had the beef and tendon and I like how the cumin seasoning isn't too much and was well balanced 2. Peanut noodles ~ with a bit of sesame flavoring, this dish was very refreshing to eat 3. Fried Mushrooms ~ great appetizer! Love how the mushrooms were still a little juicy on the inside after being deep fried and it tasted pretty good most by itself without any sauce, 4. Candied sweet potatoes ~ for anyone with a sweet tooth, this is a fun dish to eat! Was taught to dip the potato into the clear sugar sauce and when you pull it out, the sugary sauce would form light strands of sweetness that you can nibble with the potato 5. The stew ~~~ so filling! Love how the bread gets baked as the stew is cooking. The short ribs was savory and the bread help soak away some of the saltiness. 6. Honorable mentions ~ Eggplant dish had a nice light zing, tried 2 other bread dishes that had interesting textures and a peanut salad that also had some yummy zing. Service ~ friendly staff who was quick to help as needed. Would love to come back and try more things here in the near future!

They now have Chinese BBQ! love them! I think it is not friendly to 2 people meal because it's too much food. But I still like them. I always order fish for the stew, adding Frozen tofu, glass noodle, bamboo shoots. The cooking time is 25 mins, so better have something to eat, or some topics to talk. Parking is free, but at busy time, it's limited spots, since 2 restaurants and 1 boba milk at same plaza, along with many companies.

We went in not knowing what to expect. But oh my we were pleasantly surprised! The environment is so cute... the decor is like we are transported to China. The service staff were so amazing at explaining everything and the food... oh my that was delicious. We had the soup pot that also steams bread with it. The portions are massive and delicious! Definitely a must try if in the area or even if you want to explore something new and unique.

We've driven by this place countless times and noticed it's always packed--clearly a good sign. So, we finally gave in and stopped by on a Friday night. We arrived around 7:30 p.m. and got seated by 8:00 (not bad for a popular spot). The place was buzzing, and almost every diner was Chinese--which usually tells you all you need to know about authenticity! We skipped the famous stew this time (our stomachs were already sending "capacity reached" alerts) and went for a few northeast Chinese classics instead. Every dish was spot-on: the sautéed three delight, stir-fried pickled cabbage with glass noodles, homemade five-color jelly noodle salad, corn cakes, and northeast-style spicy chicken. We loved all of them.

Had so much fun here! I love places like this that has super regional chinese food - no where else I know in this area has anything like this. It feels like a restuarant in china from the moment you walk in. It's got all the vibes and the artwork on the walls gave me such a chuckle. We came as a group of 6 pretty late at night and were seated immediately. I did all the ordering and went a little crazy on their ipad. We obviously got the stew and I added a looooott of extras to it. Be careful though because we realized when the bill came that they'd forgotten some of the toppings but we were still charged for them. And for some, we really had to dig in the pot to find. We added all the carb options and which it was super fun watching them lay dough on top of the piggies to tuck them in to boil, the piggies were probably the most unnecessary. The other flatbreads were delicious, especially after soaking in all the juices. The other dishes were good too, albeit smaller than expected. The chili powder that the intestines came with was also yum yum. We also got a sesame soy milk pitcher and they gave us a bunch of cute little cups to drink out of.

This is a first NorthEastern Chinese restaurant I have tried in Seattle area. We ordered the signature stewed meat with veggies for the family. We picked the beef ribs with green beans, pumpkin and noodles. We added the scallions buns on the side of the pot. We also ordered some pork dumplings which were quite delicious. The true star is the stewed pot. The stew portion is big and very flavorful. We ordered the Northeast flavor instead of the super spicy soup. It still has a mild kick to it which is perfect for the family. It was so good the we licked the entire pot!! I think we will be back soon to try another stew and dishes.

Came here to try the hot pot with bread in the side. Parking was quick but for 7:30 PM they were full house. Parking is easy on the side. Due to it being just us two we ordered just the hot pot with spare ribs. They give you four choices of sides to go in the pot. We got Chinese cabbage, green beans,Kaboucha (squash), and eggplant. The pot does take 25 minutes to cook so make sure you have time to eat it or are with enjoyable company. The bread on the side was an additional cost. The spare ribs were a bit dry but flavor was not too salty which I liked. The bread was amazing how it just sucked up all the liquid goodness. The service was pretty quick. We liked the atmosphere of this place but can see it getting noisy. I would come back to try other dishes

A pretty new Chinese restaurant in Bellevue serving Dongbei (Northeastern Chinese) cuisine. Dongbei restaurants are not that common in North America, so had to go check this place out. It's on one of the plazas along Northrup Way. Pretty sizable main seating area and two small private rooms in the back. The distinctive thing about the restaurant is that tables are tiled and have the big heaters for the famous Dongbei iron pot stews. The staff spoke Mandarin and English. Went with a big group and we got two iron pots plus a bunch of skewers and small dishes. The skewers were the typical northern Chinese style on the little bamboo sticks. The lamb or beef were pretty good, with a little bit of kick from the seasoning. Even tried tendon and chicken knee skewers which were a little chewy. Also had their sesame sauce cold noodles which were decent. As for the big iron pots, they bring them to the table and heat them for 25 mins. You can order a bunch of things to put in them, including buns to steam near the rims. We got a goose pot and a pork rib pot. Both were very rich and hearty with the steam/stew way of cooking. The goose pot had a stronger and more savory flavor which I preferred, although the goose pieces are more bony. The pork sparerib pot had more meat. The steamed buns mixed with the sauce from the pots were tasty. Overall bill was $35 per person with tax and tip, so medium priced. Had some leftovers as well from the pots. Good to see we are getting more varieties of Chinese cuisine in the Eastside.

    Aindra T.

The goose iron pot was delicious although there were quite a bit of bones. The bread is fluffy and so good when dipped in the sauce. We tried the traditional flavor, so will try to the spicy one next time.

When you order any of the stewed iron pot meals, it's generously portioned, easily enough for two to four people, and realistically closer to four. We ordered the stool goose, which was our only dish for the table, and it held up well as the centerpiece. They also offer other proteins like beef brisket, spare ribs, chicken, fish, or just cabbage for a vegetarian option. Each pot comes with your choice of four add-ins--we chose potatoes, glass noodles, snow peas, and enoki mushrooms, which soaked up the rich, savory broth beautifully and added great variety in texture. Keep in mind, if you decide to order the stewed pot dish, place your order early. Once it arrives at the table, it still needs to steam for about 25 minutes before it's ready to eat. It's part of the experience, but definitely something to factor in if you're hungry. The purpose for the steam is to allow the ingredients slowly cooked in a flavorful broth. This Dongbei pot goose had the right flavors, rich, aromatic broth with classic notes of soy, star anise, and garlic, but the goose itself was on the lean side. With less fat and not much meat, the dish lacked the hearty, indulgent feel that makes pot goose so satisfying. While the seasoning was on point, the skinny cuts made it feel a bit underwhelming. Still enjoyable for the flavor, but missing that meaty, melt-in-your-mouth depth expected from a great pot goose. Do add the bread to this dish!

This has quickly become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants for spicy food. I've been here twice…read morenow and enjoyed every dish I tried. I've come for both lunch and dinner, usually shortly after they open, and never had to wait. Just looking at the crowd, you can tell this is an authentic place. As someone who travels to China frequently, this restaurant definitely meets my expectations. The Hunan-style spicy dishes really satisfy my craving for bold heat and flavor. I've tried the stone pot spicy tofu with meatballs, 梅菜扣肉 (braised pork with preserved vegetables), spicy lamb, stone pot black pepper beef, stinky tofu, and the fried oyster mushrooms. I loved all of them. These are the kind of dishes where you can easily finish a big bowl of rice--and still want more even when your belly is already full. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. Service was prompt, and one small detail really stood out to me: during my first visit, they actually replenished the napkins mid-meal. With spicy food and the inevitable runny nose, that level of thoughtfulness is appreciated!

I'm also a fan of the 沸腾鱼 here (not sure what the English name is), which was one of my favorite dishes from childhood that is really, really hard to find done right outside of the Bay Area. For such an authentic restaurant, I'm also impressed with their high-end decor, quick service, and cleanliness. You definitely wouldn't expect it to be so good walking in! Would rather go to Diamond Bay, Tasty Szechuan, Royal Kitchen, (can see why they're busy and packed on a holiday weekday night and Sun Sui Wah is not) Went here for dinner for my grandma's 89th birthday with a party of 9 at 7pm. We ordered dishes typical of a 10 course meal including crab, Peking duck, live fish, rice, noodles, veggies, seafood, etc. The food was really good and didn't take too long to come out. Everything tasted good and we were all enjoying the family meal together and that's why I am giving 1 star because we will not be coming back. The service was absolutely horrible; ruined our dinner and wasted an extra 1-1.5hr of everybody's time. There was only 2 other tables in the restaurant and the servers started having dinner together at a table instead of working. I would understand if we were high maintenance customers or were giving them attitude but we did not. My cousin and I have both been FOH and BOH staff so we try to be understanding and patient when it comes to service especially coming from a Chinese background too. However, we asked for water several times, they never refilled anyone's water or the tea even once at this point it was end of dinner and 5 out of the 6 of us had completely empty glasses for about 30 minutes. We finally got water when we signaled to the Busser and he went to tell the same server again. We finished eating and decided to pay first so my grandma wouldn't try to pay. We tipped 18% off the bill since we were a large party and I wasn't about to punish all the workers for some water but what happened after made everything much worse. We asked for togo boxes and the server lady just dropped them off stared at our table and left. I was already wondering why she was seeming to be upset but seems like we were interrupting their dinner because 3 or 4 chinese servers were eating together at the table at the front when my sister's boyfriend went to pay. (That's why we didnt have water) I don't mind the workers needing to eat because I have been in their shoes before but please provide some service if you still have customers inside the restaurant waving at you. We wanted to leave just as much as they probabaly wanted to close at 10 pm(it was around 830ish now) We noticed that the cake they had been holding for us in the fridge was just sitting at another table in the restaurant. They saw us go grab it ourselves. We packed all the leftovers and started putting our dirty dishes and stuff onto the table because the workers were doing nothing. They saw that we were done but didn't want to stop their 8:30pm dinner I guess. Finally we asked them to bring us plates and clear the table. I have never had to ask the Chinese servers at any restaurant to clear the table before dessert, normally they do it for you, especially after you just tipped them almost $100 lol. The Chinese servers sent the bus boy to clear our table and guess what returned to their dinner! We again asked them for plates for the cake. It took so long to the point my sister missed picking up her prescription at 9pm. Not sure if the dim sum service is better but I'm pretty sure those 5 star service reviews are from the chinese servers' friends and/or family. Or the servers are taught to do nothing besides get the order and drop it off. Unfortunaly we will not be spending money at this establishment again because of the service and will be telling our family and friends in Issaquah and Bellevue to choose better places for sit down family meals. Hope others enjoy their meals because the food is still good

Luckily, we were able to find a spot right out front, so I'd recommend slowly circling around and keeping an eye out for people leaving. I found this spot through Yelp and had been really craving good Chinese food, so I was super excited to finally try it. My family and I came without a reservation and were seated immediately, even though the restaurant was very busy. This place is definitely known for larger parties, there were lots of families and extended families dining together, which really gave it a classic family-style vibe. You order a bunch of dishes and share a little bit of everything, which I love. The staff were really friendly and greeted us right away with complimentary tea. Fun fact: in the mornings, tea is sometimes an extra charge, but in the evening it's free. We ordered a few dishes, including the honey walnut shrimp (which is my go-to order at any Asian restaurant), salt and pepper squid, house special vermicelli noodles, and Chinese broccoli. The vermicelli was a clear noodle dish loaded with different proteins like BBQ pork, squid, and shrimp. Everything had great flavor, but my absolute favorite was definitely the honey walnut shrimp. It was perfectly crispy and delicious. My only complaint is the portion size for the price, it was about $21 for roughly 10 pieces of shrimp, which felt pretty expensive. Overall, the portions were on the smaller side for what you're paying. Toward the end of the meal, they treated us to a complimentary papaya soup, which was a light, fruit-based dessert soup and a really nice way to finish. Our total came out to about $80, so it's definitely on the pricier side for Chinese food. That said, the food was delicious, the service was great, and if you're in the Bellevue area, I'd still recommend stopping by.

And while we have often gone to the CID In Seattle, for many years and almost exclusively in recent years we have gone here and the previous business at the same location. I highly recommend this place and in my opinion the staff is usually always fantastic and they bring the food fast!! Today the service and food was fantastic and ordered so much it almost didn't fit on a 4 top table. We love leftover dim sum! But at the end of the meal they brought me the completed card with a total at the bottom. Didn't look beyond the total before tip and just gave the nice (very young) hostess my card. A server brought back just the two credit card slips and the price was seemingly $20 more than what was presented to me on the service card!?? I politely asked to see the bill again and then a longhgggh wait...... Then a heavily altered card was brought back showing the new total. I was not happy suddenly and asked why it was altered from the first one etc and a big argument from the server began that I didn't proliferate but she kept on and on and could not explain why all the changes by pen and saying that she was honest etc. insisting we "do the math" over and over Now we may have ordered that much food, but I know for a fact that the bill was clean written without alterations and $20 less than the corrected one. But still she couldn't give me a valid explanation for the changes and new total. In my opinion the high school age hostess made a mistake adding up before presenting the total to me and someone else edited it before running my card. If they had just admitted that I would not have been so disappointed. I don't believe that the staff here are dishonest and understand about mistakes but they did not handle it very diplomatically and it was a scene I didn't want to make. But I know that this was not the total presented to me for payment! Take a pic of your service card before sending the credit card to be run!!! It absolutely ruined our family outing and everyone was quiet in the car ride home. Not cool!!

It is a little on the salty side, though. They also have a few vegetarian options, and my lunch buddy had the vegetarian 99 noodle with fried tofu and really enjoyed it. The scallion pancakes here are flaky perfection, and the cucumber salad is a fresh, garlicky, great choice for a starter. Service here is excellent whether you speak Mandarin or not. Highly recommend!

From the moment you walk in, the cultural atmosphere stands out--many of the patrons are Asian, and on my visit, a few were even dressed in traditional garments, which added a vibrant, lived-in feel to the space. It's the kind of detail you can't manufacture, and it speaks volumes about the restaurant's credibility within the community. The interior itself is fairly average--nothing particularly modern or upscale--but it doesn't detract from the experience. If anything, it keeps the focus where it belongs: on the food. Service was a bit of a mixed bag. There were only two servers handling the floor, and they were clearly stretched thin. Ordering is done digitally, which helps streamline things, but you can still feel the strain during peak times. That said, the food started arriving quickly--our tofu noodle dish came out almost immediately, while the beef dish lagged behind a bit. Presentation leans traditional in a charming way. The plates and chopsticks have that classic, no-frills aesthetic that complements the overall vibe of the restaurant. Now, let's talk about the food. First, a word of caution: spice levels here are no joke. If you're sensitive to heat, you'll want to dial it down. But if you can handle it, the flavors are absolutely worth it--rich, bold, and deeply satisfying. The tofu was exceptionally soft, almost silky, and clearly freshly prepared. The noodles matched that texture perfectly--tender, well-cooked, and comforting. Pricing is another strong point. For the quality and portion sizes, it's very reasonable, making it an easy spot to revisit without hesitation. Overall, Nine Noodles is a great pick if you're looking for authentic flavors, a culturally immersive atmosphere, and solid value. It's not about fancy decor or polished service--it's about good, honest food. I'd definitely come back.

The beef noodle has a good kick but not overwhelming, you can still taste the flavorful beef broth. The noodles had a great chew. The kids had the pork noodles and that was also very delicious. 2 self ordering kiosks, most items had pictures which makes it easier to order. The gentleman behind the counter was really nice and helped me answer some questions regarding the menu. The space is nice and clean, shares the bathroom with Snowy Village. They also had homemade peach tea which was complimentary! Overall amazing experience. Kid friendly with kid bowls.

It's fairly small and there was no wait on a Saturday around 6:20 PM, but the tables filled up quickly with a bit of a short wait afterwards. You order at the front on the tablets, but a server will show you to a table and bring the food out. Liang Pi (Cold Noodles): All in all a solid rendition and a generous portion size, but I wanted all the flavors to be punchier / turned up a notch. Looking for more spice and more tang. Great mix of textures though. Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodle Soup: The noodles in themselves are really fantastic: super chewy in a satisfying way. The lamb could be a bit more tender, but the soup is nice and hearty for a cold day.
