Late at night they have happy hour specials which are super worth it - plates of meat are like $2 or $3. For hot pot, I recommend getting the Sweet Potato Vermicelli and the Enoki (they give so much)! Even though they close at 10:30, the kitchen closes at 9:30, so be aware of that! They filled up quickly soon after. My first impression was that most of their customers are Asians, specifically Chinese, and for a hotpot place, that is a good sign. We ordered three broths - their signature chili (mild), mushroom, and tomato. Their mild broth was way too spicy for us - I was expecting it to be quite spicy because the place seemed authentic but not to the degree we got. It had me wondering if they gave us the spicy version by mistake. We also did not like the tomato broth so we mostly used the mushroom one. The food was quite good. The major flaw in our experience was that our meat orders took 50 minutes to arrive. For raw meat that we have to cook ourselves, that kind of delay is unacceptable, especially considering we were the 2nd party to arrive and by the time we got the meat, there were 12 occupied tables and they were served their proteins before us. We ended our meal with the Strawberry Shave Ice which was very refreshing and tasty. It takes 20 minutes to make so if you are planning on getting it, I suggest ordering it in advance. This place stands out as you can get a 3-flavor hotpot for actually a slightly cheaper price than a 2-flavor hotpot, surprisingly. We got the pork broth, spicy broth, and mushroom broth. I liked the former 2, but the mushroom broth had the strong mushroom taste so I was not necessarily a fan of it. We also ordered a spread of meats and vegetables, all of which are of decent quality: we particularly loved the shrimp paste with dragonfruit, sliced beef, and fortune bag with fish roe. The signature platter was okay - you do need to like the more adventurous ingredients to enjoy it so it is not for everyone, but it was aesthetic, 3x3 layout. We also got dessert - the bay berry coconut milk ice bucket - which is fairly refreshing and I really loved the mochi inside. The ice is also not too sweet yet flavorful. Service could be better but for a Chinese restaurant, the primary emphasis is the food and it is on point for sure. 3.5 stars but rounded up. Everyone says getting 3 soups is cheaper than getting 2, so that is what we did. Got the mushroom, pork and sour cabbage soup. Not a single soup had good flavor. It was all bland. They also brought the wrong soups out so it took forever after we got all the food for the soup to arrive. Thankfully the sauce bar was decent so broth didn't matter as much. Speaking of sauce bar, they have cute little containers of sesame oil. We shared one among the 3 of us and still had a lot left. We ordered a variety of meats and veggies and seafood items and nothing stood out. Don't recommend ordering the corn - it was clearly frozen and had no flavor whatsoever and was chewy. We were very excited about the Instagram worthy shave ice. I wish it came in a smaller size because it was just the 3 of us and it was enough shave ice for 5-6ppl. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great. Inside also had grass jelly and red bean and grapes, but it was a watery mess in the center with ice all around. There's no way to eat this without making a mess. Overall, this place is very different with exotic meats like snake head, but not sure it's my cup of tea. My boyfriend said it reminds him of the hotpot places in Shanghai; casual, simple, authentic! A lot can happen in 3 years huh? Nan is known for their authentic chongqing style hot pot. We came around 5 and it's already popular! Luckily we got a table right away. Their menu is digital so you order from the tablet and they send you your order(s). You can come back at any time to add anything you'd like! We got the 3 soup base (which was $2 less than the 2 soup base) which I felt was a little odd but we got a good variety. The traditional spicy broth was pretty spicy, even for mild! We loved it, and Hot pot is not the same without that soup base! We paid for it later...but worth it if you love spicy and if you haven't had it in a while. Love the variety of veggies, meats. They didn't have much seafood...however, I especially loved the shrimp balls. They were different bc they had a shrimp paste filling in the middle that tasted like a quail egg. I recommend giving it a shot! My boyfriend loved the sauce bar, especially the chili sauce he had gotten; it looked more like chili flakes in sauce. They gave some of the dishes flavor! They had braised quail eggs. The bean curd was okay, I think it was too long and thin for our taste. The shredded potato was something different, wouldn't get it for next time. The Chinese beer was excellent!!! And of course, loved the sour plum juice as well. We were SO full, we didn't have any room for dessert. I'd want to try one next time! So you should probably be a bit careful if you're not confident in your abilities. Even the pig trotters were surprisingly spicy. The umami was excellent, delicious. Red velvet dessert was good. I didn't think the flavor was super impressive, but this isn't a dessert place, and it was a perfect contrast to the spicy hotpot. The decorations and overall design are probably set up to give the feeling of being outside a small eatery in Chengdu in the evening. Place: the place is so cute! Very clean. When you walk in your greeted with lots of seating but I'm sure this place gets packed quite easily. It's bright and the decorations are cute. Ambiance is casual nothing too serious which is nice. Service: the service is wonderful! From the very first step you take all the way to your seat. The host greets you, takes you to your seat and acclimates you with their system. It's also very nice that we were given some favorites of theirs. The waitstaff was also very nice! And very personable! I wish I got her name but we had this lady with blue hair and she was so fun and nice! She checked on us constantly and even made small talk which made us feel welcome! Food: the broth we got was the pork rib brother and the spicy broth MILD. Let me tell you, the spicy broth is spiiiiicyyyy!!! But it was sooooo good i I couldn't stop dipping my food in it! I was intrigued by this place as I walk by here multiple times. They definitely need to update their hours and stuff on yelp and Google as it's not accurate. Also, reservations is recommended. We had a group of 5 and made reservations for 11:30am. The place does get busy. Food: 3 flavor hot pot: tomato, pork, and mushroom. They were all pretty distinct and flavorful but mushroom was the lightest while tomato was heaviest in terms of flavor. We got fish, lamb, beef, tofu, bean curds, noodles, mushrooms and napa cabbages. They were all a good amount for the price and it was good in terms of quality. Definitely lunch special deals are worth it. We also got the mango dessert and unfortunately didn't think that was worth it. For $22, the portion and quality wasn't up to par. The mango was frozen and not fresh, and it just tasted normal, nothing spectacular. Also, double check the receipt before paying Because they messed up our pricing twice! Overall, good hot pot place, skip the dessert in my opinion unless it rotates :) read more

Great service although the staff are harried as this place seems to always be crowded. We waited an hour after putting our name down on the wait list outside the door. We were told that we could call for a reservation, but even then, be prepared to wait. We had the 3-soup hot pot as we wanted to try more options on our first visit. The spicy was way too numbing and too spicy for me but my wife loved it. Luckily we ordered the ping fen dessert to soothe my tongue. I loved the tomato base, but the mushroom was a bit strange and salty. We ordered their signature platter with 9 different dishes, and that should have been enough for two of us, but we couldn't resist also getting basa fish and grass carp, and a bunch more. So, ended up with another meal to take home. Just my first visit, but enough conclude that it was good value, great service, and it felt like I had visited a restaurant in China! Price: pricier than say, happy lamb, but also better quality Food was obviously supposed to be spicy, I didn't expect how spicy it was going to be anyway and that's my fault. The meats were all really delicious though! They had a nice lunch special where you could get a plate of lamb or beef for about 5, and the triple flavor soup was cheaper than the full pot at 17. They do not have white rice though! The sauce bar was standard except that they have special canned sesame oil for you that they put off to the side. Pretty nice! The nine specialty tray had shrimp paste with dragonfruit coloring (server assured me it had no impact on taste), liver, meat balls, marinated spicy beef, marinated pork belly, marinated spicy fish, quail eggs, bamboo shoots, and spicy chicken feet. Server helped make meat and shrimp balls, and the quail eggs and chicken feet are cooked and ready to eat. Everything else is self service cooking. Hands down my favorite hot pot place in the Seattle area. I've been to quite a few (Dolar Shop, Liuyishou, Qiao Lin, Chengdu Memory, and more), but this one definitely stands out as the best! The spicy broth is so authentic and delicious, and really packs a punch (I've tried all three levels). They also have a lot of unique meats that are sometimes hard to find, which I can really appreciate. And, as many of the others mentioned, you can't forget the desserts! I usually go with my friends and order this giant mango dessert that we split between the four of us. Absolutely delicious and a great way to finish off a spicy hot pot meal. The reason I dock a star is that every time I go, the first order of meat is super high quality, but the second order is noticeably worse quality (brownish/oxidized, has freezer burn). I'm not sure why they do this, but it's pretty annoying. I'm going to try ordering all of the meat in the first round next time and see if this fixes the issue, lol. read more

Like pig brain, kidney, intestines etc. This is suitable for people who want to try unique hotpot ingredients and Chongqing/ Chengdu style spicy hotpot. Our table however was not a fan of offal or spiciness so we got just the non spicy broths and meat, veggies, tofu, shrimp paste, etc. Overall everything was really tasty and fresh. Wish there was more meat options though. If you're not interested in the spicy broth or exotic ingredients it doesn't really stand out for the price, which is why I gave it 4 stars. I will also say the service is awesome and the sauce bar was very clean. What I love most is that this place has shaved ice and other desserts. I don't get why more hotpot places DON'T offer shaved ice/ other desserts besides a tiny soft serve cone., they're running a promo now and each shaved ice is only like $9 which is a great deal. Regular price- the price was insane though- $22. Look the shaved ice was yummy but not $22 worth. Overall this place is worth a try once. First off, the soup base is super bland! Despite the smell of the place when you walk in. Second, the sauce bar/appetizers are majorly lacking at the price of $2.50/person - they don't even use pure sesame oil! Thirdly, for the price the portions are pretty small. They have some interesting items, but that is where it ends. The saving grace to their menu? Surprisingly has nothing to do with hot pot, but more so their fried rice! It was so good! Despite the fact that I have personally experienced a gruesome stomachache after consuming food from this place, I am certain it is due to the fact that I typically do not eat food this heavy in nature, and Nan Hot Pot has really authentic Chongqing style hot pot with a lot of heavy food, which to me would be a wonderful fit for those that are looking for authentic hot pot. Therefore I will give a rating based on how good the food is, instead of what the food ended up doing to me personally. My friends and I had two types of broth. I thought the level of spiciness was just right, as it was challenging but not overpowering, meaning that I could still enjoy the flavor of the food rather than the food turning out to be entirely spicy and nothing else. The tomato broth was very savory and didn't have an overwhelming amount of MSG to the point of making me extremely thirsty afterwards. I enjoyed some of the food in the spicy pot and others in the tomato broth pot. The only constructive critism I have is that the broth took quite a while to boil, so we had to wait for a bit until we could savor in all the deliciousness. Granted we put a whole bunch of stuff in the pots to begin with, but even then I thought there should be a way to accelerate the boiling speed. Maybe providing customers with the means to adjust temperature (if induction stove) could help. That's just a small nitpicky point, though, and doesn't negate how good everything else was! Our server was also very hospitable and provided us with what we need in a fast pace and was attentive to what we have ordered. They had an electronic system to order which made things easier, but when we requested additional broth, utensils, added items without using the electronic system, though, our server was very helpful. You can tell by when you first walk in it has that hot pot smell. unlike any other hot pot restaurant in Seattle. You can order everything all the cart and pick your spicy soup base you can pick up to three soup bases we pick three. We picked the mushroom and original hot pot and I can't remember the other one. Anyway, the original and the mushroom were the best so I don't need to remember the other one since I will just use the 2 next time.
