We came in for dinner and I was hit with a wave of nostalgia. I haven't found a Chinese restaurant that reminds me of old-school family dining. The shareable plates and lazy Susan made passing food easy and authentic. The staff were friendly and were seated quickly. Just before the dinner rush around 5:30pm. Top Gun Restaurant is an institution in Factoria. While it's not the most elegant Chinese food you'll ever have and it's a bit more expensive than it probably needs to be - it is consistently solid. They're open early until late, portions are generous, and the food is reliably satisfying. Honestly, I can't really complain. It's my old reliable spot for dim sum or Cantonese takeout in the area. They also updated the interior so it's more modernized and seats more guests. Just a FYI: parking is a total fiasco, so plan accordingly. read more

The server didn't ask us what tea we wanted, and we got jasmine which is fine, but would've been good to have a choice lol You enter in your order online which was super convenient. The food also comes out really quick. The food itself is okay. The bbq pork bun had a weird flavor, the bean curd rolls were a bit dry for my liking, and the egg tarts are super small, which messes with the proportion of egg filling to crumbly crust. It's back behind an Asian market and there is limited parking so I suggest getting there early. The lunch crowd is always packed And you order off of a menu that is on a tablet. I've been coming here years and it has never disappointed. Granted it had been a couple of years since my last visit and while they remodeled, the food is the same good quality. While it is right across from Factoria mall, the location may be a little hard to find if it's your first time, as it's behind another building. Parking isn't always easy either, perhaps you can park at the mall and walk over. Once inside there are the classic fish tanks at the front and large seating areas. Unfortunately it appears they no longer have the carts and instead you order via your phone (QR code that identifies your table) or with the wait staff. I personally loved the carts but seems a lot of places are going this route. As usual the food came out very quickly and tasted great. Da boss felt like chow mein so we ordered up at the house special chow mein - plenty of shrimp, bbq pork, squid and chicken and of course crunchy noodles with gravy. Topped it off with some dim sum - shrimp balls, siu mai and stuffed bean curd rolls. Plenty of food and we went away happy. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was expecting there to be a wait but we got seated pretty quickly. The overall vibe is typical of a dim sum restaurant. A bit chaotic but in a good way lol. Service was alright. We got our refills pretty quickly and the employees scooped the soups into our bowls for us. Food was great! I love my dim sum and was craving it while in Seattle. We checked this spot out that was supposedly a popular spot among the locals. We got the staples like the shrimp dumplings, shumai, spare ribs and egg tarts. The dumplings were massive! They were easily twice the size of normal ones and full of filling. The menu is pretty standard as far as dim sum goes, but some of the items weren't my favorite. The chicken feet were a bit too oily, and the xiaolong bao were dry... which is crazy, given they're soup dumplings. Is it the worst dim sum ever? Not at all. I really liked the shumai, which is way bigger than other dim sum places'. I've had plenty of dim sum before and the "football", which are fried mochi filled with meat, was better than I remember. The service is pretty lacking - they are very prompt asking what kind of tea you want right when you sit down but aren't clear that there's a $2 per person charge. at the end of the meal, i tried to request the check multiple times using the online ordering page but it never came, so i finally flagged down a waiter. to be fair to them, it was quite full in the restaurant. Got here at around 10 am on a Saturday - plenty of seating and no line. My friend and I were seated quickly, but a crowd did start forming around the time we left (around 11 ish). The food is a solid four stars. Service is average for a Chinese restaurant - the servers will leave you alone unless you call them over, which I honestly prefer, because I prefer to eat in peace. I think this is definitely one of the better dim sum places I have been to in a while. The food is made fresh upon ordering via checklist menu. I used to come here with my Dad, pre-Covid, and I would say things have changed quite a bit. I stopped by with my family today and it was packed. We were told that are wait time will be about 20 minutes, it was closer to 45. There's no longer ladies coming around with carts, you order everything through a QR code, and everything comes as it's prepared. For the first round, we ordered 9 plates and 2 arrived really quickly and then the others took a little while. There's definitely no coursing and little to no service. The food is fine, there is too much MSG in it. There was not a dish that I was wowed by, after ordering 12 dishes. It's OK, but I don't think I would come back again. I've also never been to a dim sum place where they charge you for tea. It's literally called "Yum Cha" for a reason. For three people, two women and one man, we ordered shao mai (4 per order), xlb (4), spare ribs, chicken feet (4), taro puffs (3), chive and shrimp pocket (3), and rice noodle with shrimp. It was slightly too much food. But what is dim sum without variety?? Their menu is an online menu but the tea situation is odd. They cost $2/person for a pot of tea, but if you order dishes there's an "add on". We were assured this add on version was incorrect multiple times and that it was just $2/person. (We didn't end up adding the tea to the online order but did order it, and they had it on the receipt later.) The food overall was pretty good! I also like their red vinegar for dipping. One of us didn't really like the chive shrimp pockets, felt they would've been better as har gow, and I don't necessarily disagree. The food is so huge. That's really all there is about it. For sizing, each shao mai was about twice a normal one. Probably a better plan with people would be to order them and cut everything in half! Service was okay. Bathroom was okay. Place was very busy. They tried to serve us 6 dimsum dishes that were obviously cooked hours ago and cold, and one was clearly burnt. When I asked for one of the dishes to be made fresh, they seemed pretty annoyed. They also started charging an 18% forced gratuity on 6 or more people. Before, we had to wait 30 minutes or more to get a table, but today, on a Saturday at lunchtime, it was more than half empty. I do miss the carts because sometimes we would get a wild hair after seeing something that looked interesting. I am less likely to do that from the menu. Service is fast. Their "little dragon balls" used to be xia long bao but didn't have much soup in them. They have the biggest and the best shui Mai here. Sugar cane shrimp, wok fried noodles, shrimp ball, green beans (weekend only), sticky rice, taro cake...all delicious! It does get loud when it's full. Go early! read more

Food was good, but the over-dressed lady that I assume is the owner needs to let go of her ego. When we walked in, the waitress at the front counter greeted us and told us to take the table around the counter. We proceeded to the table and sat down. The table was not even cleaned with a pile of stacked plates still on the table. That overly dressed lady came over to our table and acted non-chalant and said " Who told you to come here?" Not a very pleasant greeting. She acted as if we needed permission to sit down like we one of her workers didn't tell us to come to the table.
