Ive heard about this place for years - it's my parents go-to cafe when they're in the city. And rightly so. Beautiful interior with a unique menu. Service enhances the gracious vibe. My sister and I dropped by spontaneously for weekend brunch (à Saturday korning around 9:30). There was a bit of a cluster of people waiting for tables, but they were larger groups and we were seated after about 10 minutes. We ordered cocktails while pursuing the menu. My sister enjoys their mimosas and I was curious about the "My name is Earl... Grey". Good choice - dangerously so. Smooth, flavorful, well balanced. Only a light perfume of Earl Grey. We shared our entrees: the harissa carrot hummus tartine and the roasted potato and scallion waffle. (Side note: we indicated our intention to the server, who thoughtfully brought extra plates so we could do that). The tartine was delicious. Just the right amount of spread on a thick slice of sourdough. It wasn't spicy at all; the sweetness of the carrots tempered the heat. A light sprinkle of romanesco and little cubes of feta finished it off. The waffle was a surprise. Crispy, savory, a whisper of sweetness, topped with a dollop of scallion butter. Unique and very flavorful. The homemade biscuit was large and easily shareable. The cappuccinos had a good, rich aroma. A double shot is the standard serving and had sufficient flavor and kick. I haven't been here in years, so good to be back! I always hit up Floret at the airport so when my friend said she was going to be in the Madison Park area on a Friday, I knew just the place to grab some breakfast. The restaurant is adorable and so many options to choose from for breakfast/lunch. We both got iced oat milk mochas and the Rancho Colorado Scramble with breakfast potatoes. Cooked perfectly, not too big of a portion and reasonably priced for Seattle. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. It's almost like a highly elevated hot pocket on a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes. Would order again. The savory waffle was the most intriguing dish by far. They heavily leaned into taking this as far away from any aspect of sweetness as possible by layering in herbs, butter, and a fantastic crema to go with those crispy boi fritters. But the most fantastic dish by far isn't shown below. It's the coconut cake. An absolute must order if you come to Cafe Flora. This cake is the epitome of decadence, and each bite will have you wondering if it's the best slice of cake you've had in your life. Eating this masterpiece is a life experience itself, and can't be compared to other foods. I imagine it's similar to how people feel after looking at their first born child. How many people go to a different gate in the airport, just to have a meal? A friend, knowing I am a vegetarian, had suggested going to Cafe Flora while we were in SEA. We thankfully had a little wait before our flight, so took advantage of it. Ordered the tofu sandwich with garlic sweet potato fries, and the mushroom au jus with regular sweet potato fries. Both dishes were yummy, something we would order again. My husband, an omnivore, said that the tofu in his sandwich had a satisfying texture. The au jus sandwich held together well, even when dipped. The flavors melded together perfectly. We would choose both our dishes again! Sorry, no pics. We got to work on those dishes right away! 1 star off bc the service could have been more attentive. Maybe they need more help, or possibly additional training. Stopped by the grab and go next door afterwards. Fun little market, and delectable looking pastries. This is in my opinion THE place for vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free fine dining. My brother and I took my dad there to celebrate his 83rd birthday last night. The starters are a must (brussel sprouts, focaccia bread, and the kale artichoke dip), the cocktails on point (the rosemary lemon drop and the ten trees are delicate and still our go to choices), and their portobello wellington is their classic go-to entree (but the portion is smaller now with only one wedge vs two or even the whole thing years ago). My dad is a meat eater and devoured the Shimeji mushrooms and nettle pesto risotto. The pizzas are ten inches and perfect for one person; I usually wouldn't order a pizza unless it's at a pizza establishment as there are so many other options, but we all shared the asparagus pizza and if you are there you should too. Street parking is easily found in the neighborhood, the service is always attentive and friendly, the plating beautiful, the cocktails served in delicate glassware, and never too noisy. read more

Cafe Flora has been on my 'to eat' list as I absolutely love their cafe in SeaTac and I had such a great experience this evening!! It is a spacious restaurant with such cute, floral decor. I made a reservation for two as they were running their limited time afternoon tea series. Shout out to our sever, Ardent! He was such a joy to talk with and so very accommodating - his service was above and beyond and really helped make our meal as special as it was. We had their standard fare but they had the options for a vegan/gluten free option for those that need. I wish there was a more 50/50 balance of savory and sweet but it's afternoon tea and I know that the sweets typically dominate. We loved everything that was served and it was explained that everything was made in house (at their other restaurant location though) and that always source the local, seasonal ingredients. I wish they included multiple teas with the tasting; you're limited to one per person unless you pay for more. But I do understand that the tea they're sourcing from (Portal Tea in Portland!) is high quality, which we could definitely tell as we were drinking it. I did appreciate that they gave us little timers to ensure that we were steeping all of the teas properly, not too long or not too short, in order to maximize the flavor and tea experience. 10/10 would come again! Flora has won my heart time and time again, through my belly! From the moment you walk through the doors, you'll be greeted by a hostess who will whisk you away to either the main dining room or the atrium which is my favorite place to be. You'll be surrounded by large windows and greenery. To me, the large space feels much smaller and more intimate. Food: you won't find a large selection, but a variety of greens, starters, and mains that all complement one another. My risotto was super rich and creamy with the squash adding a hint of sweetness. The salad complemented my meal by adding another texture of crunch and coldness. My husband enjoyed the Portobello Wellington, but it was too heavy to finish it all. It was still delightful the next day. Drinks are always unique and made with ingredients that make you take smaller sips to capture all its depth. I enjoyed Ten Trees, and hubby had a chocolate pistachio matcha latte. We took the coconut cake topped with blackberry sauce to go. The texture of cake wasn't light and fluffy, but more firm and crumbly. Still very good! I enjoy the entire experience of Cafe Flora and try something new each time. We went here for dinner last night with our daughter Madison. The risotto was delish (and vegan) and while the portobello Wellington was not vegan, we had one bite! Whoa. Alas, richard and I are vegan. Richard had the (vegan) crispy chickpea panisse. You must combine everything on the plate in each bite. Fabulous combo. Came here on mother's day expecting huge wait times but at 1pm it was only 15 mins. That went well! We had both gluten free and dairy free in our group so plenty of options that could work for everyone! The Belgian waffles was great and the eggs Florentine and beignets delicious. This is specifically a review for their spring tea service. Overall it's really really cute and the vibes are cute, however as for the food it was mid and the service was really nice and friendly but It was really slow. You have to make a reservation online in advance and you put a deposit (which is refunded at time of your reservation). However we didn't get any of our tea snacks until 40 minutes after we sat down, which I don't get bc you preorder your menu online when you make the reservation (you choose be the vegan menu or regular). But also aren't all of these things pre prepared, I don't get why it took so long isn't it just the time to put it on the platters? I even tried to wave them down to ask what was going on but found it a little difficult to wave them down. The tea did come out pretty quick after they asked us to order (each person gets to order their own tea pot) but ya we were hungry and the tea was not enough to hold us. Overall the teas were good but we all did not like the strawberry and I actually could not drink it and had to ask for another tea cup bc I couldn't even drink it to clean my cup . Overall for the treats, I thought all the sweet treats were too sweet and not very good. The chocolate was really rich but lil too much for me, I didn't like the meringue but I also never do, honestly I finished nothing on the top level. The savory options were better, the cheesy bread thing was really goody , the scones and stuff were solid once you put the jam on it (the jam is sooo good!!) and overall I really liked all of them and finished but nothing too amazing. My partner and I stopped by on Saturday morning and haven't been able to stop talking about the food, the atmosphere, and the absolutely lovely service. It's such a beautiful, welcoming space--sunlight filtering in, plants everywhere, and an energy that just feels good to be around. If you can eat in their outdoor area, do it!! Let's talk about the food, though. My partner ordered the Berry Matcha (so refreshing!) and the Rancho Colorado Scramble, which she absolutely devoured. I got the iced miso latte on the recommendation of our amazing server (shoutout to her, what a gem) and it was incredible--salty, creamy, just unique in all the best ways. For my main, the Matcha Belgian Waffle was insanely delicious--soft, flavorful, and so satisfying. But the showstoppers? The mochi beignets (I want them every weekend for the rest of my life) and the cinnamon roll. The berry coulis on the beignets? NEXT. LEVEL. Also $1 from every cinnamon roll supports the Trans Justice Funding Project, Queer the Land, and the GSBA Scholarship Fund to celebrate Pride month (and that just made my little queer heart so happy)! ‍ Truly cannot say enough good things. Calming atmosphere and relaxing vibes that encapsulate the Madison valley. I love the openness of the cafe, curated all paper, and bathroom decor. The food menu is robust with vegetarian options for every palate. I've eaten here a handful of times and truly enjoy the food and the spice level. I won't go into the food as I encourage you to try it out for yourself. What I will share is that the portions are very generous and I often split an app and a brunch entree. Service is always really attentive and the tea pots are all really colorful which I enjoy. A really nice weekend place to go that is very Seattle. We got a couple of drinks and a lot of food. We tried the Flora focaccia, warm kale artichoke dip, zucchini & roasted garlic arancini, pear & brocollini pizza and Yakima valley polenta. We also tried the mango passion fruit nog and the watermelon basil shrub. The food was decent, though a bit bland. It seemed like there was a heavy reliance on cheese and oil to add flavor. I've been going to Cafe Flora for more than a decade, and still love its food. However, the level of service has been steadily declining. The last few times I've visited service has been very slow, but at least pleasant. My last visit was a different story. I was with a party of four. The waitress started by routinely, and rudely, interrupting our conversations. After she took our order, the staff began bringing out entrees one at a time, rather than serving the whole table at once. Two came relatively quickly; it was a 10-minute wait for the third; and mine did not come for another 20-25 minutes--more than half an hour after the first of our party was served, and after everyone else at the table was done eating. It was brought in a to-go bag, so I had to eat out of plastic containers. During this time, the waitress did not check on us once. She said nothing to us about this delay until we eventually flagged her down and asked. Then she abruptly told us it was "an innocent error," and became angry and rude. The restaurant did not charge for my meal, but that was hardly sufficient to compensate for ruining our meal anc then scolding the entire table when we politely objected. I will hesitate before returning. I hope the restaurant can turn the issue with its waitstaff around before alienating more loyal customers. read more

My vegetarian friend and I came here, so we were excited to split an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The spinach dip was really good and exactly what you would expect. I wish they gave a little more bread because we ate the dip plain afterwards. The burger was okay, but the fries were fantastic! especially the dip it came with. My husband is Vegan, so I try to find restaurants that cater to both vegan and vegetarian/ pescatarian. Cafe Flora for breakfast on a Sunday fit the bill!! We both had a delicious leisure breakfast on the patio, the water fountain was burbling away in the background the bubbles in the yummy drip Stumptown drip coffee reflected the greenhouse style ceiling. The atmosphere no matter where you sit is lovely, with a European flair. Service Staff have the right balance of leaving you alone and checking in that you have enough coffee or check-in if a cinnamon roll will top off the morning. My husband got the Corn and Tomato Scramble (tofu), I got the Elote Tartine (highly recommend!!) the cinnamon roll didn't make it to be photographed it was so delicious. A Seattle classic, with good reason! One of the few fully vegetarian restaurants in town (which is so weird, but here we are), Cafe Flora always has delicious and creative food. The ambiance is also wonderful (I love the atrium!) and service is reliably good. I always try to save room for their wonderful desserts and am especially a sucker for their vegan cake! Now that they accept dinner reservations, I can finally justify trekking over from Ballard. I haven't attempted brunch in years as it gets quite crowded so just arrive with patience and perhaps a snack if you are going that route. As someone who was vegetarian for six years and now has a pretty high bar for which vegetarian spots I'll go to, I'd definitely come back here. Right when you walk in, the aesthetics catch your eye and you immediately feel at peace and like you're in for a good time. There was a bit of a wait (40 minutes), but we didn't mind. We just browsed the menu and chatted. I got the Southern Platter with the rosemary biscuits (the buttermilk ones are bigger, FYI), and it was a flavor explosion. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the herby rosemary scent and flavor of the biscuits paired so well with the garlicky greens. I also tried the golden latte, which was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The yam fries with aioli were really good, and the strawberry shortcake made with cornbread was divine.
