We can out for brunch last weekend and it was really lovely. We sat outside with our pups and they were pretty busy but still had good service. The server was zooming around and still took the time to greet us and compliment our dogs. The food selection is pretty broad and customizable, so we both liked their menu. My partner got the waffle and a breakfast sandwich and I got the Carolita scramble with avocado. This is such a beautiful cafe with delicious food. I had the best sandwich there I believe I've ever had in my life (the Rachel sandwich on rye). I just moved to the neighborhood so I'm checking out all the spots in my area and this was a great find! It's a quant and quiet area off 10th ave and they have a few patio seats as well as indoor seating. They also have a market/grocery options inside so it would be great if you're trying to grab something quickly and close by. Now for the food; my sister had a bagel, cream cheese and tomatoes while I had the veggie scramble and both hit the spot. Shoutout to the baguette slices served with their scrambles, 10/10! Their menu is actually quite extensive and I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu in the future. We were looking for an ample and satisfying breakfast before our long day in Seattle and this quaint little place didn't disappoint! Small but bustling, crowded but not overwhelming, with cute little tables (mostly for two) and a couple of larger ones. We were a party of 5 and the waitress made a space for us to sit. We ordered BIG (waffles and eggs and coffee and scrambles) Everyone was full and happy and the wait staff was pleasant and took care of all our needs quickly. I ordered the Brussels sprouts hash (onions, potatoes, bacon, Brussels, with two eggs and two buttered baguette slices) and I didn't even need lunch as I was so satisfied. Cute neighborhood spot with easy street parking, and bonus points, they also sell some grocery items so you can get breakfast and grab some fruit, canned goods, or whatever else while you're at it. The service was fast and friendly. I really enjoyed my breakfast, which was the greek scramble. 3 eggs with olives, spinach, tomatoes, and goat cheese plus potatoes and toasted baguette on the side. It was delicious. My boyfriend got the waffle with fruit and a side of bacon, which he said was good but he thought a little too expensive for the amount of food ($6 for 3 pieces of bacon and $17 for the waffle with berries and whipped cream). I think they're pretty on par with average Seattle restaurant prices, if not a little bit more expensive than what I'm used to seeing. When out in a walk, we noticed this cute spot and decided to give it a try. They have a plethora of different bagel sandwiches, scrambles, waffles, and sandwiches that looked delicious. I decided to get one of the bagel sandwiches because it came on an 'everything bagel' - my favorite. It was very tasty but nothing super special, also it ended up coming on a normal bagel instead of an everything one. I'd definitely go back and try something else on the menu. They also have a few groceries that you can buy, and there's a cute coffee shop next door (they sent us there to get espresso). Definitely worth trying this spot if you're in the area! read more

I have now been to Tenth West three times, and sadly, will not be returning. If I were to summarize my experience with a metaphor, it's that I feel like a battered wife, getting smacked by my husband, but then apologizing for making him smack me, and trying to appease him at every turn. I moved into the neighborhood coming up on two years ago and try to frequent our local establishments as much as possible; Tenth West is within walking distance of my home, so the convenience factor is phenomenal. I had read reviews about the coffee cake shortly after the move, and had to try it out, so I ventured down and was so excited to give it a go. When I came through the front door, I immediately loved the décor and small town grocery store off to one side; super cute. What wasn't great, however, was the reception by the hostess. I had never been here before, so after standing for a bit to see if they would seat me, or if it was more of a counter service where you order and then sit, I walked up to the counter and asked if I placed my order with her then, or at the table. She seemed very annoyed at my existence, but I brushed it off and tried to kill her with kindness throughout the entire time I was there; people have bad days and I chalked it up to that. I ended up ordering a coffee and the coffee cake. I was so excited when the coffee came out and it was a full French press. I ended up getting about 3 cups out of it, which by Seattle standards, was a crazy deal at only $4. The coffee cake was also so delicious. The melted butter on top took it next level. I expressed my love for all of the things to the hostess when she came to clear my table, and again, it was like I was just a bothersome gnat, circling her head. I was honestly nervous to have to ask her if I paid at the table or at the counter. I ended up paying, thanked her for her help, tipped her well, and went about my day. This was about a year and a half ago. My aunt came into town a couple of months later, and I told her I had to take her here for the coffee and coffee cake. We walked down and waited to be seated. It was the same woman working as my first visit. We sat and ordered TWO coffees, and one coffee cake to share. At this point, my aunt asked me if the woman was ok, as she had the same demeanor from my first visit. We felt like we were the bane of her existence, and I was embarrassed that I had raved about this place. I said I also noticed that she seemed bothered, but maybe she was having a bad day (again). Shortly after we ordered, our food arrived. What came out, however, was just one of the same French presses that I had ordered when it was just me, and it had the same amount of coffee as the first time...but we had ordered two...and ultimately were charged for two. I don't understand how I got one French press for $4 the first time when it was just me, but then also got only one French press for $8 when I ordered two. Both presses only yielded 3 cups of coffee, so I was basically charged double for the same thing. There was no way I was going to bring this up to the hostess based on her general demeanor, so I left it at that, paid the entire tab, tipped (glutton for punishment I guess), and we left. The third and final time I went here was about 5 months ago, and it was only because I had a business meeting with someone who worked down the street, and due to his time constraints, needed to find somewhere close to him. I knew better, but I did it anyway. To no surprise, the same woman was working the front, and I had the exact same experience as the two previous times. I was only ever kind, patient, smiling and thankful with her during EVERY encounter, so I don't know what the he** is going on here, but it's off-putting. It's disheartening that this local eatery is somewhere I don't feel welcomed when I visit, and I'm sure I cannot be the only person who feels this way. I don't think I was singled out, but maybe I was, or I just happened to catch her on the three bad days she's had. The best thing to have come out of this is I did find some motivation to try out the neighboring Turkish coffee shop and I adore it. Everyone I've met there is so friendly, and their baked goods are to die for. I really love supporting local, and will continue to do so where it makes sense. read more

I primarily came to Tenth West based solely on the photography posted on Yelp by Gene D. Scrolled through my bookmarks and wanted to take advantage of visiting a new place south of Shoreline before the Alaskan Way Viaduct/Hwy 99 shutdown. So here I am, slid in for the last hour of service. (1/6/19) After chatting with my waitperson (former real estate agent), this was known as Icebox way back when I was an actual Queen Anne resident. The current owner, Linda Hegg, owned The Dish over in Frelard on Leary Way, before taking over, renaming this current spot Tenth West. She's clearly a successful owner here for the past 12 years. I forgot to clarify though if she still owns both locations of The Dish in Frelard and Green Lake. Spending a hour onsite, it was evident from the patronage that Tenth West is a well established neighborhood anchor. It functions both as a cafe and sundries stop to pick up basic stuff and things. The menu and specials board have a nice variety of items for both breakfast and lunch. It is cozy enough to have a proper meal or meetup onsite, however, I did notice that takeout is available. Velton coffee beans are used, if that's of interest to you. Despite that it was 1300 and noting all those mouth watering lunch photos from Gene D, I ended up ordering the Farm Scramble. Eggs scrambled with bacon, gorgonzola, spinach, and tomato. I like how the spinach was just wilted with the heat and both that and the eggs weren't overcooked. The grilled cherry tomatoes added a nice pop of flavor. Despite the bacon and cheese, it was not greasy or salty. The breakfast potatoes were also a generous serving. Next time though, I'll pick the fresh fruit option. I really enjoyed the accompanying toasted and buttered baguette slices. Adding the strawberry freezer jam, made for delicious bites. Very satisfying entree...next time, I'll have to do a sandwich/soup or salad combo. Nice breakfast, brunch, lunch option on Queen Anne's west side (closed Mondays). Finally getting around to posting my review. We love this little neighborhood spot for breakfast. We both always get the Farm Scramble with fruit. The toast is like a baguette bread with rosemary baked in - the melted butter OMG, I die, go to heaven, and come back down to earth with each bite. Both eating at the restaurant and for take out is always a quick turn around. The owners are nice but not overly talkative. It's nice having a to-go spot for breakfast on the weekends! I've been looking for this place on my map because I forgot the name of it but I recognize the street when I was driving down it this morning I stopped and asked what she had on special didn't sound very good to me at the time (I was being picky like usual, not that it wouldn't have been good) but she whipped up a turkey sandwich from a freshly roasted turkey that she had just made this morning....DELICIOUS!!! This is an OK place for brunch. Prices: a few $ over what I'd expect. I got a breakfast sandwich for $8. Food: my order was a breakfast sandwich bagel. Bacon was delicious, and 2 eggs was a nice touch. Got a side of underwhelming potatoes, which were bland to say the least. I do not recommend the potatoes- no amount of ketchup, salt, and pepper could make them taste good. My friend got a brussel prouts hash which was pretty good- but not $15 good, like they charge. The coffee there only comes in a giant French press. Nothing by the cup. Service: underwhelming and slow. Not a whole lot of parking. Would I go there again? Unlikely. read more
