Carnitas Breakfast Plate, Migas - IG @bougiefoodieboi
Kyle W.

Fairly new brunch spot in Ballard Blocks area. Parking is hit or miss as the area this place is located can be bottlenecked but I see a lot of street and plaza parking. We ordered takeout as the discounts made our orders deeply discounted, and we enjoyed it shortly after (within 15 minutes of receiving the food) for the maximum quality. We got the migas with cheesy hash browns and Swedish cake, and the carnitas breakfast. The migas is a scrambled egg with chorizo and tortillas dish, which is fairly hearty in itself. The cheesy hash browns made the dish heavier (our choice for this side so nothing against the restaurant). However, the hash browns were a bit stale and overcooked without the crispy texture. The Swedish cake is kind of like a crepe, which is decent. Carnitas breakfast is good too - the eggs were easy and the carnitas has just the right amount of meat to fat ratio, so that was high quality. The pico de gallo and the tortillas made this a nice, complete dish. The potatoes were not good. Overall, the food is good with a few misses, so it is a good breakfast spot depending on what you end up getting and what sides you choose

You first walk in there is a big plant blocking the hostess stand.... basically average food no wonderful flavors that hit your palate with extreme pleasure. The staff was friendly! some guy threw a plant pot outside as we entered n when we left homeless cart was in front just a average breakfast place in Ballard.

Cute neighborhood spot with a great diner vibe! Was busy on a Sunday mid-morning but we got a table right away. Pretty reasonable price and solid breakfast foods, will come back again.

The Block Cafe - My Ex husband and I meet here at least once a month to chat since I moved back to the area. This cafe was originally called the Egg'n Me but recently was bought out by the Block Cafe... the menu is basically remained the same. Good service, family welcome, child units and grand parents seen enjoying themselves. I have only come for breakfast on the weekends but the cafe has a bar and tv's so may boast an evening scene I have not witnessed. The price is fare for really good wholesome food... highly recommend trying the Mexican item if you like Mexican food and the pico de galo is fresh. It has a cafe/ diner vibe comfortable with average noise levels. The staff are prompt with never ending coffee and let us be LONG after we paid the bill and should have left... they know my Ex's order by heart and I just keep them guessing :). Good food, good value. Parking early in the morning is no problem gets busy as the morning wears on with the PCC, FEDEX, UPS and Trader Joe's around the corner. A large parking garage is open too.

Lemon, ricotta, pancakes

This locally owned restaurant has some of the best food in Ballard. They have a large menu breakfast( served all-day, lunch and dinner. They also have some very authentic Mexican food. The menu was so large. I often come here five days a week. My particular favorites are the prime rib dip on the ciabatta roll, waffle combo, lemon, ricotta pancakes (the best I've ever had), chicken tinga quesadilla or tostada, meatloaf sandwich, croissant breakfast sandwich, toasted breakfast burrito, Asian chicken salad, any of the breakfast scrambles, Ballard burger on grilled rye and the street tacos!

It's definitely one of those places that immediately makes you want to settle in and stay awhile (and we had no power so, we certainly did!). Everything we ordered was delicious, and the drinks were super unique and incredibly smooth. But I NEED to talk about the rose cookie. I have literally been dreaming about it. No exaggeration. It was that good. Perfectly delicate, fragrant, and memorable in a way that makes you immediately want another one. The service was lovely, the atmosphere was great, and the food and drinks were outstanding. Truly such an incredible spot and I'm already looking forward to going back. There was also a special Makeworth espresso shot that tasted like watermelon SO unique, do try it if you're into adventurous espresso!

My husband and I walk past Cardoon all the time, so one day we finally stopped in. The cafe is cute and cozy and makes good use of a small space with benches along the walls and low tables. It's not the kind of cafe you would work on your laptop for hours from, but instead meet a friend or read a book. They were out of chocolate chip cookies when we arrived, but the barista said they had a new batch in the oven if I could wait 30 minutes. I waited, and boy was it worth the wait. The cookie was warm and gooey, while still crispy on the edges. There are pools of dark chocolate and flakes of sea salt, and undertones of anise, making it a delectable cookie. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be back to try some drinks!

The menu is ideal for sharing, which made the whole experience feel a little more social and relaxed. Every dish we ordered was on point -- fresh, flavorful, and clearly well thought out. You know it's a great meal when you're already talking about what you want to order next time before the table is cleared. Service was friendly, attentive, and genuine without hovering. This is the kind of spot you get excited to bring friends to because you know it will deliver. Fantastic for brunch or dinner, and easily a place we'll keep in regular rotation. Highly recommend.

You order at the counter (during brunch/lunch hours) then seat yourself. Overall I'd say you're really paying for the ingredients and aesthetic of this place. We ordered the Oat pancake and turkish eggs, and were still pretty hungry afterwards. The oat pancake was delicious and perfectly moist, crispy, and flavorful, I would come back here just for that. The turkish eggs were good too, the whipped feta was very tangy and delicious. I almost felt like I could eat both of these dishes as 1 person. That being said, if you're a party of 2, order 3 entrees. Lol. I would definitely come back here for a special occasion, but not for a regular hearty breakfast. I think our bill was about $45 + tip just for the 2 entrees without drinks.

I originally planned to just grab a coffee and a croissant, but after noticing how popular the mushroom Gruyere croissant seemed, I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. While they serve Umbria coffee, which isn't my personal favorite, the food more than made up for it. The service was warm and friendly, and the overall vibe was welcoming. I'll definitely be back to try the mushroom croissant again or maybe explore some of their other pastries next time.

I made the mistake of ordering a banh mí because I needed lunch and saw it advertised on their chalk board tent sign outside on the sidewalk. I'm sure everything else is great, except this. I waited 5 minutes to be served a cold sandwich. When I asked if I could warm it up, they said it would be another 7 minutes. It wasn't busy, not sure why the long and specific wait. Like everything else, this was incredibly overpriced. The only disappointment was that I would rather order a banh mí from an authentic Vietnamese restaurant than a French bakery (yes, I know about the colonialism involved).

How I heard of this place: Their soft then grand opening was in a space previously called One Cup,…read moreand while driving by one lone afternoon, we found that ownership and name had changed. We were thrilled to discover it's new management's plans and community, service oriented nature - not to mention their excellent breakfast sandwiches and good beverages! Type of cuisine: Cafe fare - espresso beverages, as well as non-caffeinated items for kids and those who prefer not to partake. Breakfast sandwiches, burritos, pastries. Ambiance: Large, expansive and spacious. There is a small patio with outdoor seating available, should you prefer to dine facing Aurora's traffic congestion. But inside, office furniture helps create separte-feeling booth-like seating with small coffee/end tables for your purchases. Large tables, too, conference sized grace the main space for those wishing to work alone on devices, or engage in conversation among friends and family. An open area also exists, accounting for about one-third of the entire room, which allows for gathering while standing, as well as providing ample space for lines to grow and distance to be maintained (covid-safe). What I ordered: On most ever visit, I stick with my favorites: the bacon breakfast sandwich (if you like the bacon crispy, as that it be cooked out of the sandwich and alongside then placed inside), the sweet potato scone, the sausauge breakfast sandwich and the slightly spicy, vegan potato, bean burrito. My beverage of choice is the Melanin Mocha (dark chocolate moch), though I've also ordered the blackberry mocha, and a couple of others. My husband always sticks with The Karen (white chocolate mocha), while our children enjoy a cup of steamed milk with caramel sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles with their food. What I loved: Everything about this place; namely its mission and complete devotion to the youth and community. Empowerment is strong in this space and the food and drinks are a bonus that amplify and support the work being done. Why I loved it: For all of the reasons listed above - and more. Cost: Average
