We went on a Sunday around 1 PM. There was no wait, and we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered the veggie omelette with hash browns and buttermilk pancakes. The omelette was good, and the hash browns were fried and crispy. However, the pancakes were very dry and bitter I'm not sure why they tasted bitter, but I wouldn't recommend the pancakes. The service was just average neither great nor particularly bad.

I went here for a Sunday brunch and did not have to wait for a table. We got the crab cake benedict and the 14 carrot cake pancakes (triple stack) to share. Food was not that good especially at such high prices and service is kinda okay but careless. The only thing worth getting here is the carrot cake pancakes. Crab cake benedict is a joke. I expected real crab meat for $24 - they just slap on imitation crab and call it a day. I felt a bit ripped off. The crispy hash brown on the side was good, a little greasy. The carrot cake pancakes has a nice frosting. The butter and syrup was tasteless and okay quality. The pancake itself is quite delicious. I think this is the only thing to get out of the other options. Other items are diner stuff charged at a hefty premium. Service is a bit careless as there were spills when the waitress refills water and coffee. However, the bare minimum service is met which is fine in general but not enough for a diner that usually offers okay food so service should be outstanding.

There's not a lot of casual brunch places around this area, so it's understandable that it is always crowded there. We will have to try again, because we didn't love the food at all. Everything felt a little bland, other than the delicious cinnamon roll. Staff were friendly and the food came out relatively quick.

Pros: cozy vibe, this place seems to be a local favorite Cons: food is on the greasy side (which is common for diners), waiting staff is friendly but not very attentive, food (to me) tastes so so

    The atmosphere is nice

The first thing that comes to mind when you dine here is how fresh and healthy all their food should be. To tell you the truth looks and word of mouth can be deceiving. We came here to have what we thought would be a great Sunday breakfast. I ordered the basic breakfast which included two eggs, toast, hash browns and bacon. It did take quite a long time to get and when it did arrive the eggs were over cooked and brown. The toast was burnt and hard as a rock. The bacon looked and tasted like plastic. The hash browns were very greasy to the taste. My husband ordered the Bennie and the jets which to my surprise were good. The place is clean and nice but it could use some sprucing up and some of the servers could use a refresher course on getting the food out faster so it will not be cold when it gets to the customer.I also have to say that after eating my stomach hurts and have been unwell since.

Obsessed with how cute this cafe is! Also love their carrot cake pancakes! My husband and I came on a weekend around 10:30am and we were easily able to get seating. They have both indoor and outdoor cafe seating. Service is really friendly. I heard it can get pretty busy on the weekends. We got the carrot cake pancakes - so delicious and we also had the corn beef hash with sourdough toast and scrambled eggs. The corn beef hash was really tasty! Meaty with some bell pepper and onions mixed in and with the hash browns, so tasty! 10/10 would come back again for breakfast/brunch! I really want to try their carrot cake and cinnamon roll!

Service was prompt and attentive. The carrot cake pancakes are a must for all carrot cake lovers! Perfectly sweet with a hearty texture from the raisins and nuts included. Went on a Saturday morning around 10am and there was no wait time for 2 which was spectacular. A little pricey but that's Eastlake for you.

Super cute little spot in Eastlake! They also seem to have some limited outdoor seating and are pretty busy so you might need to wait for a seat on a weekend for brunch. The server was very kind and also very much herself and candid. It was fun joking with her and it felt very much like a neighborhood cafe. The food was really really good too. My friend regularly comes here for brunch and suggested it and I'm so glad she did! I loved the carrot cake pancakes and cinnamon(?) butter (and I'm not a big carrot cake person either so if you are then you'll be over the moon!). I got a side of eggs and they brought me bacon too, which I just gave to my friend as I'm vegetarian. They have a ton of vegetarian options on the menu too which is awesome. I'd definitely come back and try more!

Finally got to review the restaurant that's been "cracking eggs for 40 years." Pros: -Large portion sizes - Seated immediately - Service was super attentive - Food was AMAZING! You could taste the freshness of the ingredients. - The specials were so creative! Eggnog pancakes, Thanksgiving themed eggs benedict, oh my! Cons: - Brass monkey was very frothy as you can see! - Did not realize our mains had a big side of hashbrowns so we definitely over-ordered!

14 Carrot Cafe is a small brunch spot in the Eastlake area with a lot of history. At first it used to be a grocery and meat market, then it was a variety of taverns for years, then it became the 14 Carrot Cafe. It has been run by the same family for 25+ years and is still going strong. We came here on a Sunday morning at 10:30am and were seated immediately for a party of two. I ordered the lake union scramble ($18.50) and both the scramble and the hash browns were on the bland side and needed some salt and pepper. The bread also was a little hard and felt like it had been sitting there for a while. It was pretty pricey for the portion size and I was expecting more. We also ordered the 14 carrot cake ($9) to share and it was a little dense. The frosting gave it some sweetness but it was just okay. The staff was friendly but I thought the food could've been better.

Cute breakfast spot in Eastlake! We had the carrot cake pancakes and breakfast burrito. Pancakes and the cream cheese frosting are incredible, highly recommend. Breakfast burrito was filling and a decent size. Because you're in the Eastlake neighborhood beware of the higher prices - paid about $60 for two drip coffees and two entrees. That's pretty standard for the area!

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday and we were able to get a table for 6 easily. I got the Greek eggs Benedict which was a special they had today. The eggs benny was good but not enough sauce at all. I also got a side of bacon and the bacon was very crisp which I like but it could've been cooked less. I got a drip coffee as well which was alright but they just had regular cream and sugar for it. It started to get packed there once we were there for a while but we had very attentive service.

For me this is one of the best breakfast spots in the PNW. We try and visit the Seattle area a couple times a year, and this is the one place we always eat at least once. It's got a laid back vibe on the inside and some of the best service anywhere. Order your meal and always get at least on carrot cake pancake! You will not be disappointed!

The café has around 20 seats, including a mini couch, a table in the middle, and a few seats by the window. It's the type of place where you might end up sitting right next to someone, so be prepared to make a new friend! The vibe was definitely more for people who need a quick place to work and not for big groups and loud conversations. Parking on the side street that it's on is limited, but I was able to find a spot easily around the corner since there's free 2-hour parking in the neighborhood. You'll need to ask for a key to use the bathroom after you order. They sell coffee beans and a selection of merchandise, along with a small range of pastries like muffins, cookies, and quiche. You order your drinks, and then you have the option to customize them with syrups and drizzles. The ordering process was quick and simple. I had an old gift card to use, and they had to transfer the balance to a new system, which is now linked to my phone number. Overall, it's a good spot if you're looking for a quiet coffee break, but it's not exactly the most exciting place to linger for long. Lastly, I ordered a latte with a white peach flavor. Which was subtle. Didn't really stand out like I hoped. Went with something different because why not! I also had their quiche which had veggies and goat cheese and that was magnificent. Highly recommended. Food ranges from 5-8 dollars and lattes range around 6 dollars. I had the jumbo which is 20oz.

The sandwiches were decent but nothing particularly special. The bread was good and the sandwich was really big- I only ate half and took the rest home. The potatoes had clearly been sitting on a warming table or under lights for awhile. They were well prepared, and seasoned, but...leathery. Not fresh. Which, at the price point, was a little disappointing. I recognize I'm being picky but: With tip (19% default) we spent $65. For two sandwiches and two coffees. The service was also great, considering there were many people and only one server. The coffee was good and people were all making an effort to speak Spanish, which I very much appreciated. The tortilla de patata, was also fine. That was the good. Overall, the food, as simple as it was, was really, really dissapointing. First, they rely exclusively on a microwave and a toaster oven. This should probably mean they serve only a few premade pastries and maybe come fiambres and call it a day. But I did not realize this when I ordered churros con chocolate for the whole family. Instead of having freshly fried churros - the only way to serve these, and the only way you will ever have them in any cafeteria in Spain - they preheated some pre-baked abominations along with a schmear of cold fudge sauce in a saucer. For a place so infatuated with Spain to serve something so wholly inauthentic really surprised me. Is it that hard to make chocolate a la taza? Is it that hard to have a frier and serve up some fresh churros? That's what we thought we were getting.... The ensaladilla was also a poor imitation of a Spanish classic, with mostly mayo, hardly any tuna, and punctuated with a smattering of pale peas. Even the pan con tomate, jamón y queso was bad. I confess that I've never understood the Catalan tendency to grate tomato on bread for these montaditos, but Ole doesn't even do that. Eschewing this easy opportunity to use a fresh ingredient, they squeeze some cold tomato sauce on a slice of toast instead. Almost as bad, the jamon serrano they use is cold and presliced (meaning that the salt is brought to the surface of the meat), instead of room temperature like jamon needs to be, rendering it dry and hard instead of warm and tender. In short, Ole cuts corners at every turn, relying on premade dishes for nearly everything, a decidedly un Spanish approach to food. Seattle desperately needs an authentic little Spanish cafeteria where folks can get good, simple freshly made tapas made with love. This place doesn't even try. With all that being said, if you want a good coffee and to be surrounded by people who love the language, Ole offers this. And that's pretty good too..

You hear and read only Spanish, and if you're well versed in the language, you will spot everywhere the signs of Castilian Spanish from Spain. Here, the owner is also a Spanish teacher (there was a class in session in the back room while I was there), so she helps you through the experience without breaking the spell by resorting to English. It wouldn't be fair to comment on the food barely 24 hours after opening. We'll see how that develops. Their intention is to provide a rotating selection of Spanish tapas. They have no kitchen, but neither do many Spanish bars. The beauty of classic Spanish tapas (jamón, queso, boquerones, pan, aceitunas, etc.) is they don't require cooking. The key is quality ingredients and as they say in Spain, "poca floritura." Olé café is the perfect remedy for Spanish nostalgia. As I stepped outside and returned to Seattle, USA, I marveled at how small our world has become.
