There is street and garage parking, this alone makes Retreat a stellar place to select when needing to meet, or have a place to get caught up on administrative work. It was tasty, but wish it had a tad more goat cheese to help balance the flavors in the omelet. The latte was good, a bit sweet and overpriced. Parking is not convenient, just street parking which can be impossible to find most times. The line here is always long and the people always seem to be cheerful when they are here so I decided to stop by to see what all the hype was about. I was a little shock at how pricey it was. I know vegan food isn't the cheapest but woof. Either way, I committed to a bowl. It was either between the retreat bowl which is vegetarian and gluten free. It had in it sunny side up egg, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, arugula, pistachio pesto and your choice of organic brown rice or quinoa or the fall harvest bowl (v) which comes with arugula, roasted carrots, butternut squash, broccolini, hummus, avocado, hemp seeds, microgreens, and quinoa. I thought it was tasty the retreat bowl but again the prices of the other items were a bit higher especially for what I would consider a 3 star restaurant. They have coffee, a great selection of teas, and other things on their food menu include tacos, pesto chicken sandwiches and other melts and sandwiches, toasts, bowls, soups, breakfasts like omelettes and more. I think the smoothies look great. I would come back here for this especially after a run around the lake. The space itself is beautiful and lively and I do think that in of itself is a 5 stars. I can't think of anything different they need to do with the space. Even though it's packed like always, they can fit maybe 75 inside and an additional 25 outside on the patio. The latte was good, tasted sweeter than normal even though it was unsweetened. My wife had the Ruby Ginger Latte which she said was really good with almond milk. It has beetroot, ginger, and cardamom. The baristas were really nice and accommodated a last minute change to one of the drinks. There's lots of seating inside and outside. They have a large indoor space with bar seating, several patio tables, and a row of lounge chairs in the front. I visited for the first time on Sunday and am happy to report this place met all of my expectations. The service was good and fast. I came here with a large group and was a bit worried about seating, but there was a ton of space. The food and drinks were yummy and I can't wait to come back and try more. I was excited to try out this place as I saw their unique line of wellness lattes. I'm from out of town so I was eager to try something new. The cafe was busy and full of people, though I didn't see a single mug for dine-in orders. It was a bit loud inside but they had seating outside to avoid the noise. Everyone was drinking from either plastic or a disposable cup, and for someone who is trying to limit plastic use, kind of a bummer. I ordered the Golden Orange with almond milk and a regular Matcha Latte. The girl who took my order was nice but I didn't get a receipt. Now, this is why I give my rating and why I probably won't be back--customer service. When you place your drink order, they make it and then call your name. Just like Starbucks. At this visit, the staff who made both drink orders left both cups on the counter and went on to make the drink for the person after me. Not once did she did call my name, and I remember hearing her call the person's name before me. I stared at both drinks on the counter and didn't want to assume they were for me as I wasn't familiar with the drinks, so I kept waiting . It wasn't until after she called the name of the person after me that I went up to the counter, pointed at the drinks asking if it was for me, and she goes, "yah, I called the name twice." It was in the moment I felt crazy, but I knew I was not because I was standing right near the counter the whole time waiting and listening for my name. I told her I didn't hear my name, and she apologized so I did my best to get over it. The drinks were good, at least. My Golden Orange had a strong cardamom taste but it wasn't too strong, and I did taste notes of orange. My husband's Matcha Latte was good; no granules of unmixed matcha powder and was neutral-tasting (not too bitter or sweet). Went here at like 8 in the morning and it seems like a popular place for people stop by in the morning and to work. It's a super nice spot right next to greenlake. The breakfast bowl is something you could probably make it home. It was good, but I think it would've been better with meat and more seasoning. I think it would've been good if there were some black beans too, so I took some black beans from my breakfast burrito to put it inside of the breakfast bowl. The breakfast burrito is where it's at. However, it is constantly busy and loud in here so I would be mindful of this if you're planning on coming! Been eyeing this place for a while, but to be perfectly honest the high prices have always kept me away. I gave in today being in a rush and having to pick something up nearby. Online order worked fine, although a pop up told me I would get a text when my order was ready.... 25 minutes later I never received one. There was no indicators on where to pick up o line orders when entering, so I had to wait in line. It could have just been the couple but it took forever, and the girl didn't even look at me. I had to wait for someone else to come to the register after the couple left. My food itself was good- the pesto was lovely, the chicken had good flavor. My only complaint that it was very very oily on the bottom, and I couldn't stomach eating the arugula that was soaked in oil. I always love stopping by at retreat for a little snack/meal after dance class! Be prepared, it does get quite busy during lunch/weekends, i always end up waiting at least 10 minutes as there's only one cashier taking orders at a time. I will say food/drinks come out fairly quickly after because theyre slinging drinks and making food like no other in the back! I've tried a few of their menu items. I particularly like mayan bowl, it has a lot of good healthy ingredients and their chimichurri is to die for!!!! I always ask for extra chimichurri (the normal amount isn't enough goodness to accompany all the food they give you). I also really enjoy their side of hummus with the pita bread. They give quite a generous amount, enough to share with at least one other person. The pita is nice and soft and comes out warm and has some yummy spices on top of it, the perfect snack if you're not looking for a big meal. I also really enjoy their smoothies, it has a nice creamy texture and is the perfect amount of sweetness. The cafe/restaurant itself is very spacious and open aired when the weather is nice. I have been coming here for years. it has always been a peaceful place, with good and simple food. I was here a few days ago, to relax after a walk. The place was awful now. From a calm and restful atmosphere, to a more warehouse ambiance. I think they are a victim of their own success. Coming in, loud music and customers shouting to make conversation over the music. Long line to order and understanding grumpy clerks due to the volume. Once you order your food, you battle getting a table to eat it at. People with laptops working and nursing a single cup of coffee. While I admire the owners patience with this, if I'm spending 40.00 for food and coffee, I would like to be to sit down and enjoy it. I'm guessing the loud music is to discourage the lingering people , who spend very little here. And the food quality was not good today. Again, guessing the cost of doing business with people taking valuable table space and ordering very little, is costing them money. I'm a customer they would like to have. I buy a bunch of food, eat rather quickly and tip well. But I'm not coming back to battle for a table. One pro tip, if you sit at the bar, it's a much more pleasant experience. So many restaurants now have a time allotment for being at a table, where you are spending more money. It's sad for me to see my friend Retreat, decline and become very retreat less. read more

I want to make this my regular cafe, but the food and drink quality has been inconsistent (especially for the price) and service has been quite rude or low effort every time I've been there. Oh my goodness...this is THE SPOT! Go walk, run or ride around Greenland then head straight to Retreat for the best breakfast and deliciously unique lattes and smoothies. This is one of the most beautiful and just enjoyable coffee shops in the area and frankly that I have ever been to!! It's super close to the lake and has so many table and seats (couches and tables) to sit and socialize, study, or eat!! There is so much, but not overwhelming, amount of greenery in there and it feels really open and clean! The coffee was delicious and I've also had the kombucha before and that was amazing!! I've yet to try the food but hope to some day soon! The ONLY downside I have to the place is not so much on them but just the downtown area, the parking. I parked in the retail parking below the shop and parked for 4 hours there but it was a two hour limit and got a $93 ticket.
