I was traveling in a group of 6 to Renton, WA, and we stopped by Blossom Vegetarian as our first stop in the Evergreen State. One member of the group is vegetarian, hence a reason why we ended up going to a vegetarian restaurant for our first meal during our trip. Blossom Vegetarian is located on the southwest corner of 3rd and Burnett. We came in three cars, and the lot immediately in front of the restaurant can only hold about a dozen cars. The adjacent lot has more spots, but all three of us were able to find spots easily when we arrived. That's likely because we had arrived a few minutes prior to opening, so the door was locked when I tried to open it. Right at 11 AM, an employee came out with a signicade to place in front of the front door. Shortly afterwards, we entered and sat at a table for 8, which I found kind of odd because they had tables of 4 and 8, but not 6. Our table had a sign advertising a limited time special, which was Hanoi Beef Fried Rice at the time*. However, we were interested in the lunch specials, which were available weekdays from 11 AM to 2 PM. Knowing that our schedule wouldn't have allowed for a lunch special any other time during our trip, we went for lunch specials, which mainly consists of rice combos. Rice combos at Blossom Cafe come with rice, either jasmine or brown, the latter of which would incur a $1 upcharge. The combo also includes an option for a juice or coffee, and if you choose either, you get $1 off. With plenty of rice combos to choose from, two of them chose the same lunch combo while the rest of us went with different lunch combos, but shared family-style with one another. I chose the Blossom Rice Combo, which consists of shredded "pork", tofu pie, "beef" skewer, and vegetables alongside a lime vinaigrette dressing. I'm not too certain of the other combos, but I do know that the Cashew Chicken was another combo, and that's because one of my groupmates heard it was their most popular dish. Since I prefer brown rice over white (jasmine) rice, I opted for the $1 upcharge for the brown rice. Between the coffee and the juice, I went with a coffee since I was needing some after a long morning of traveling. They have four choices of Vietnamese Coffee: Cheese Cafe, Cafe Latte, Dalgona Cafe, and Cafe Sua. I went with the Cafe Latte, which consists of both condensed and whole milk. The coffee drinks can come either hot or iced. For whatever reason, everybody else ordered the iced drinks, but I went with hot knowing I'd have to brave the pretty chilly weather outside. It took about 13 minutes for the kitchen to prepare our orders, and then we feasted! The coffee was ready about a minute before the main dishes arrived. Everything tasted good, but I wouldn't say great, though that's probably because I'm not vegetarian. However, rest assured that all their meats aren't real meat, and this is indicated by the use of quotation marks encompassing the meat names. You can definitely tell these meats are truly vegetarian, though it took a few bites for me to discern the vegetarianism of the "beef" skewer. The brown rice tasted kind of odd. I don't quite know how to describe it, but it was way different than the brown rice I'm used to e.g. Flame Broiler. The rice tasted pretty meh by itself, but exhibited a much more elevated flavor profile after adding the lime vinaigrette, which I'm thinking was actually a fish sauce. But that Cafe Latte was smoooooooooooth. Just what I needed after not getting enough z's the previous evening. Since I ordered mine hot, my coffee came in a mug while the others who ordered iced coffee got theirs in a wine glass. These coffees supplemented the glasses of water we were given when we placed our orders. Service, unfortunately, was quite slow, so exercise patience! We were the first customers to eat there, and there were a few others who came in after we did. We stayed there for over an hour even though I think we could have gotten in and out in much less time. They didn't really check on us even though there were very few other customers inside as well; I guess we were supposed to proactively go up to the counter to let them know when we were ready to order as well as pay. 2026 calendars were available for purchase at a cost of $20, cash only. I don't know how many people would constitute a "large" party, but we were considered one, which resulted in an 18% gratuity fee that was already added to our individual bills. One of our groupmates, who was fluent in Vietnamese, needed to let the server know prior to paying. So overall, Blossom Vegetarian is a decent spot for vegetarians; I just wouldn't recommend for a quick lunch break since service is nowhere near as quick. * My visit was back in November. I waited until January to post this review as I took a brief hiatus from posting reviews upon traveling to the Pacific Northwest. read more

We swung by blossom vegetarian on a random weekday night and easily got a table without a prior reservation. The ambience was clean but simple. The service was very fast though. We ordered some vegan chicken nuggets, spring rolls and some Singapore noodles. I loved the spring rolls, not a big fan of the nuggets and the noodles were tasty. I always get the bun Bo hue & this mango salad with tofu here. A must for those. But their food options never do me wrong. I am always pleased with their recipes whenever I leave. This time, we got the salted lemon drink and a strawberry tea one and that was way tooooo sweet. So heads up on that and ask for it less sweet. The sugar amount is as if it was for 3 drinks. I was disappointed in that. But overall it's a great spot if you're looking for flavorful vegetarian/vegan food. read more

We started off with a passionfruit mojito, lychee mojito, and a Hanoi iced tea - all refreshing, fruity, and welcome on a hot day. The blossom bun dac biet was next-level with a yummy mock meat skewer, crispy spring roll, 2 types of noodles, herb salad, and lots of peanuts. The pho was steamy and full of veggies, "chicken nuggets" were dangerously snackable, and the sweet & sour "chicken" was tangy and full of pineapples and peppers. There were a few fun desserts on the menu, like mango purple sticky rice, but I was too full! There's a parking lot out front but it can be pretty full, but worry not, they've got a few private parking spaces in the back alley labeled Reserved for Blossom Restaurant. Ambiance is casual but tasteful, and they have a patio with a few tables for those who want to dine al fresco. Service is attentive and the staff are good about water refills. This was so good. I was pleasantly surprised. I had the beef vermicelli and didn't know what to expect but it was very flavorful. The "beef" was good. My kids had the other dishes and they enjoyed it as well and we will definitely be eating here more often. I ordered online. Food was ready quickly. When entering there was a wait for seating so that's a good sign as they did have a full house. I did have to ask someone to assist me on where I pick up my online order as no one acknowledged me when I entered. Once I picked my food up they were friendly. It's bigger inside than I expected. I love Blossom! I love Vietnamese food and love that we have a vegetarian option here! I always order the Bì cuốn as an appetizer and it always taste so fresh. Their bún bò huế is very flavorful and great portions too. The service is always friendly and attentive as well. Their service is good. I will recommend them for their honest and humble service. However, the food is not worth the trip. The restaurant is spacious and pretty. But I wish the chef put an effort on the quality and flavors of the food. The oil is smelling and overused.. I can't eat any of their fried dishes because of the oil. The portion of veggie pan noodle was decent at the same time, the stir fry portion was too small for one. I tried and failed to touch the pan fried noodles and stuffed myself with vegetables. The fried spring rolls were soaked in oil, broken and fried to turn them black.. the place was definitely not worth the trip for me. The only saving grace was their service and all vegetarian menu. Tried their Bun Hue here and I just loved the flavor so much! The bowl was not too salty, not too sweet so if you prefer heavily seasoned dish - this is not for you. Plant based protein is the USP of this restaurant. All dishes prepared are named after a meat like chicken, lamb, pork etc but it's not real meat rather an imitation of it. Taste of dishes is good with the imitation product but still authentic is real . We ordered chicken with tomato rice and a aubergine and bean curd clay pot which was actually very yummy. I have heard a lot about Blossom but don't get to Renton much, so was so excited to check it out! I am a longtime vegetarian and we have an ever dwindling supply of vegetarian restaurants. We found Blossom moderately busy on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated right away but food took a VERY long time to come--I am talking like 20-30 minutes. This seemed to be the case for everyone around us as well. We weren't in a hurry so it was ok. But that's a long time to wait. I got Lemongrass Tofu which was good but a tad oily. My partner got the General Tso's "Chicken" which we both liked a lot. Portions are GIANT. The space is large and tidy. The menu has lots of great options. They are also mindful of allergies such as peanuts, etc. Our top favorite was the eggplant clay pot. Order some white rice with it and you will be good to go. I did take out one star for their soursop drink being way too sweet. I suggest asking next time if the sweetness can be adjusted. We came into Blossom as a party of 2 at 7:45 on Friday night, and were able to be seated instantly. We love the decorations they have out for the lunar new year! Blossom has always been a clean, comfortable and stylish restaurant. This is my Renton go to for vegetarian and vegan food! We got three appetizers to split between us: Thit & Nam Nuong (the beef, mushroom, and bell peppers skewers). Simple, versatile and good, with or without sauces. This could go with anything. Cha Dum (Tofu pie)-as someone who does not like tofu, I could not get enough of this pie and it was hard to share! I loved the flakiness and savoriness of this. It took to all the sauces well, and had a mild but pleasant flavor on its own. I loved the chips to the side too-more of these please! Chem Chep Chien Gion-the house "mussels". I loved their take on a mussel! These have a nice sea-like, savory flavor and a crispy and chewy texture. The sea flavor is subtle. This was a little bit of a wild card but it paid off. We had a pot of the "Beautiful Lady" tea (osmanthus, rose petals and stevia). Their presentation of all of our dishes was lovely as well. Our night here was quiet, relaxed and flavorful. read more

what an incredible place !! it's so peaceful and tranquil in the space and the decor is just so lovely. the Ban Hoi platter was stunning. it came with plenty of veggies, veg viet ham, and a skewer. i was so tripped out by how the flavor and texture reminded me so much of the meat versions. the portion was perfect for my partner and i, and we still had leftovers. the mackerel platter came with sautéed peppers and other veggies and very well sauced as well. i appreciated how the "fish" had a seaweed-like layer to imitate fish skin. Bi Cuon was also a great appetizer, it's one of my fav veg viet foods to order. well seasoned with roasted ground rice as well. i've tried quite a few vegan viet places and this by far is definitely on my top 3. we finished off with a hot pot of tea and had such a pleasant meal. i also left my card here on accident and they were really kind in getting it back to me. read more

Been coming here for years.... Not sure I'll ever come back. Went today as we hadn't been in a while. And I was craving their Mango Salad. We were seated at a table that was very tacky to the touch. The "specials" plastic holder on the table was so sticky it stuck to my hand - Gross! Then I looked up and the wall was covered in food and had a big drip under the hanging wood & plastic light box frame. The light box itself was disgustingly dirty. Like it has NEVER been wiped down EVER. The wood decorative divider was covered in dust not to mention the table for two across from us had so much dust on it someone drew a heart on it!! Come on Blossom what is going on? The food was ok. We had the Blossom Spring rolls, the Mango Salad and the Cashew Nut Chicken stir fry. Spring rolls were great. I wish they had served extra dressing with the salad as they usually do, it could have used more dressing but still delicious. The Cashew Nut Chicken was great I'm looking at all this and wondering if this is how the dining room looks like - what's going on in the kitchen????!!!!! Wiping down the tables is just basic restaurant cleaning. Checking the walls for food splatter would help. I'm just wondering how they pass inspections? This dirty experience just really put me off. I came here intending to have a nice evening; this place was terrible. I ordered the tofu pho and the mushrooms tasted fishy, which meant they were rancid. It took over 20 minutes for someone to come by with water, and another 15 minutes for a server to take our order. There were two tables that were seated well after us, and they got their food first a good 10 minutes or more before we did--which is the same time they finally gave us our tea. Took another 20 minutes of very intense and failed eye contact after we finished our meal before the check came. Terrible service. What made it interesting was that there was a bird trapped inside the restaurant, flying back and forth in a panic. I felt bad for the poor creature and I hope they let it out soon, and also hope it doesn't have rabies. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because the tea was good, and also because I haven't gotten food poisoning yet. Maybe I'm late to the fake meat game, but my meal at Blossom blew my mind. Felt like a culinary experience, almost a scientific experience too. Blossom is a great passage to vegetarian food. Their menu has a wide variety of delicious Vietnamese cuisines. The restaurant has a flowy open atmosphere with a touch of Vietnam. They also have a little nook of a patio that has a vibe of a quaint backyard, in the back. My favorite dish has to be the Blossom Combo Vermicelli! I prefer an extra beef skewer instead of the shredded pork. Their beef skewers are such an amazing meat replacement! It reminds me of a mix of Korean BBQ short ribs and teriyaki beef/chicken. The best not "meat" I've had so far! I enjoy their house fried rice as well! The meat reminds me of a mix of spam and teriyaki chicken. It's a good crowd pleaser for people with different taste buds. I would love to try their pho and curry one day! They have a nice selection of juices, teas, cocktails, and wines. I like the vietlime juice it's a mix of fresh squeezed lime juice, sparkling water, and just a teench of sweetness. It can be very punchy and tart but I personally like the flavor! When I made the reservation I requested the patio, the weather was great, when we got there the table was set inside, we were told it's not open. I wish they had told me this when I had called. The food here is delicious. I've tried many dishes and some are just okay but I think it's a matter of preference like with any food. My two favorite dishes are the spicy lemongrass chicken and the general tso's chicken. The texture of the meat is amazing. I used to be vegan when I found it but since I eat meat and still go out of my way from federal way to eat here. I also love their spring rolls and I'd put done the sesame beef(it does have a bit of a sweet cinnamon flavor profile that hasn't always been my friend's favorite). You do not come for good service or comfortable chairs. It is also something not the cleanest space. Just know going here you'll likely get just meh service. Never rude in my experience but not super attentive or overly friendly. It is also quite pricey. read more

The food is clean tasting no yucky burnt oil taste. The nuggets were delightful and I love mango sticky rice, but this was a special treat with the purple forbidden rice and the toasted sesame seeds topping. Last time I had lunch here with a friend, it was delicious, so I brought 4 of us here for dinner this time. Everyone liked nice atmosphere inside the restaurant. We ordered Blossom Vermicelli Combo, Blossom Clay Pot, Sesame Beef and General Tsos Chicken w 1 rice. We shared all meals together. My next friend tasted Sesame Beef and said, no taste. I also tasted four dishes immediately. Blossom Vermicelli Combo was watery and tasteless. Sesame Beef had very little flavor and the broccoli was just boiled taste. Blossom Clay Pot has a strong flavor and should be eaten with rice. As for Tsos Chicken, the fried chicken was tender and tasty but the other vegetables were bland. I was very disappointed. All my friends left the vegetables and they told me taste not so good. I was so embarrassed. I had to go to the counter and pay because they didn't even come to take my payment. Khong co tu gi de che! Mon an qua ngon va dac sac! This is the 1st time I came to Blossom and the food is great. The Goi Ngo Sen is a little bit too much do chua but the taste is fancy! Locals came here all the time so this location is truly a BOOM! The Hue Spicy Noodles is also good and plenty of protein + veggies! Absolutely love the food here! For being fully vegetarian, even my meat-loving husband loved it! Our absolute favorite is the Sautéed "Beef" Vermicelli Noodle Salad bowl. It's truly amazing and so flavorful! We also enjoyed the Pho, fresh spring rolls, and Thai Iced Tea. Although the food is amazing, service was sort of lacking. Hardly anyone checked on us, it took a long time to get our orders placed, we didn't get offered water refills, and it took quite a long time to get the check and boxes to take food home. The tofu bean appetizer is absolutely incredible - flavorful and wonderful texture. The lemongrass satey dish is my favorite. Again, the flavor is so complex and unique. The atmosphere is so relaxed and all the waiters are responsive and kind. read more

When we stopped by on a Sunday evening, it wasn't too busy, so it was nice to have the place to ourselves. I ordered the bun blossom dac biet for $16, and the bowl was packed with noodles and vegetables! The imitation beef skewer and egg roll added a nice texture difference to the noodles and vegetables. The fish sauce was made well and had a good balance of a bit sweet and salty. One suggestion I have is to balance out proportions of the noodles/vegetables to protein more. Toward the end of my dish, I was left with a lot of vegetables and noodles. Overall, I had a good experience here and would like to try out some other dishes sometime! read more

The food was decent and enjoyed trying different types of meat substitutes including jackfruit and seitan. We were not missing meat at all. We all got our own entrees.
