The beef pho soup base was top notch- it tatste fresh and made from scratch with lots of bones and meats, and not artificailly sugary. tasty from real meats, herbs, and spices (cinemon/star anise, etc. ). This place is a small, cute little place but it has HUGE flavors and delicious food! It is a small, unassuming place feom the outside but it is cute and clean on the inside. Their menu is a combination of Vietnamese and Thai dishes. Not a huge menu but the dishes are of good quality and quality entree options over quantity for sure. The ingredients are fresh and some of their dishes are very uniquely made here and not seen in other Vietnamese restaurants! Definitely come try their own unique creations. We ordered the following for lunch: 1. Red Pho: Pho with reddish broth due to the spices. Never seen it anywhere so we gave it a try. It is like a lighter version of Bun Bo Hie broth but with pho noodles and proteins. 2. Caramelized shrimp with steam eggs: A rice dish with a blanket of eggs and sautéed caramelized savory and sweet shrimp (tôm rim). The flavors of the shrimp is DELICIOUS! Honestly if that entree comes by itself with some steamed veggies, that would have been like home cooking mom makes! The savory and sweetness of the sauce for the shrimp is just spot on! The shrimp is perfectly cooked, not over cooked at all! 3. Milk Tea for dessert and it was perfectly made: not too sweet and you can really taste the black tea flavor coming out with the cream. Very good!! Their quality is superb and there were so many items we would have loved to try but there was no way we could have tried them all in 1 sitting. Will have to return for sure! We ordered sandwiches and drinks the next day. The Vietnamese coffee and peach tea were good, not too sweet. As for the sandwiches, the bread itself is thicker than most banh mi bread but the flavors of the sandwiches are delicious! Perfectly prepared with all the fixings. I am just very impressed with the quality of the food and the flavors, the friendliness and hospitality of the wife as a waitstaff and the amazing food from her husband, the chef. Very friendly owners! In addition to the 4 parking spots in back, there is parking directly to the south of the building, if the back lot is full. I got Vietnamese coffee, #19 rare beef pho, and my partner and I split the #63 pork bahn mi. They were both really good. I usually get pho from Renton bistro, but I thought the pho was better here. Plus they have bahn mi. The service was really fast and everything tasted fresh and made-to-order. Will come back and try the red pho next time. They told us it's spicy! So I had frequented their banh mi and bubble tea in Federal Way as I recognized the dog mascot and it was one of my favorite places to grab a drink or banh mi as it was close to home. We didn't know that they had parking and it is pretty tight to get into as well as a small parking space but they do have one at the very least. When we entered, we were greeted warmly by a female employee who was the only waitress and cashier. She delivered us menus and gave us ample to look over the menu as they have Vietnamese food, Thai food, and pho. I was torn between the Bun Bo Hue and combination pho but just got the combo pho while my boyfriend got the chicken pad see ew. It didn't take long for food to arrive which was a bonus as we were hungry but it felt like maybe 10-12 minutes. That's pretty impressive. The food smelled so good and the taste did not disappoint. My boyfriend was a huge fan of the wok hei and general flavor of his pad see ew. I enjoyed the broth, it wasn't bland but it wasn't extraordinary. I will admit I love the addition of a short rib in the combo and while it was one piece, that's more than any other combination phos that I have had in this state. The waitress would check in often and when anyone checked out, she would always provide a punch card which is always a great business tactic. I wish I could speak for the ambiance but there wasn't really much that I could really remember. The inside felt pretty stark and there wasn't much decor where we were sitting which was close to their rear entrance. They had a large TV playing what looked like a Vietnamese street food documentary but no audio. I don't think they had music playing either. We ordered takeout for our family of 4. It was nice chatting with one of the owners. If I recall correctly, she and her husband run the place by themselves, with the exception of weekends, when they have extra help. I ordered pho for our kids and the Cao Lau Noodles for me and my husband. I don't know how the pho was, but the Cao Lau Noodles were delicious. Please note it was my first time having it, so I have nothing to compare it to. It was also my first time seeing a Vietnamese Restaurant serving it. It was very flavorful with the sauce, which reminded me of a cross of cha siu sauce and Chinese BBQ sauce. I liked the texture of the noodles as well. Everything came together certainly well. I took a picture of the takeout after I had disassembled it. I did, try to put it together as best I could. My only one suggestion would be to use takeout bowls for soupy meals as it's hard to eat out of in a square one, especially when we were not heading home. read more

That said, this is definitely a Vietnamese restaurant. Owned and operated by husband and wife restauranters, Nini Wong and Chinh Pham, Hi Pho is their second location. I was really happy to be introduced to Hi Pho. The way the owners greet you when you walk in, the amazing options on the menu - it was a treat. And walkable! And the quality of the food was great! I had Pad Thai and fresh spring rolls. The freshness of the ingredients definitely stood out. And it turned into a nice leisurely dinner in a really nice environment. Cute new pho spot! Food: 4 I got the vegan pho and it is delicious! Only con is way less fried tofu pieces unlike other places. My friend got the thai iced tea and she liked it. I ordered the sugarcane shrimp goi cuốn and pho ga. Everything was super flavorful and their pho was a nice clean broth compared to some other restaurants. The only critique I would have is if they added some more chicken to my pho ga! They gave me about 5 small strips and I was a bit underwhelmed. I found myself dreaming of a good bahn mi sandwich, and wondered where a good one was to be found in my area. I found Hi Pho, and wandered over. I was instantly impressed by the great service, and when the food came, I was happy as a clam! The atmosphere is middle class, but the service and the food was top notch. I stopped by Hi Pho a couple days ago for a quick bite. My typical meal at this place in the past is one of their Pho or Bun Bo Hue. Wanting something different I got an order of chicken wings marinated in fish sauce and a tray of squid wrap in rice paper. Both dishes were delicious. My grilled pork sandwich was delicious and I would gladly order again but my matcha latte was very disappointing as that was the main reason for my order. We just tried this place. Definitely not a good value or flavorful. Bun Rieu was decent not flavorful and small portion. The meat was inedible and chewy in the special pho. The Bun Bo Hue had little flavor and again small portion and some of the noodles were still hard pieces. We ordered the viet coffee and instead was given the purple galaxy and waitress said with a smile that she repeated the order to us so we just took it and paid it but at the time of payment, receipt clearly showed viet coffee and when confronted about it, she made no concessions to us the customer and just said well the purple galaxy costs more than your viet coffee. Ordered a pork banh mi with no jalapeño and added an egg. Wasn't until 15 minutes later that i'm told they're out of pork.
