Dropped by Molly Tea in Bellevue after a friend hyped it up, and low-key glad we went. I got the "开心果茉莉椰" - coconut water base with jasmine tea and a pistachio cream cap. The pistachio aroma is actually pretty strong, but not in a fake way; when you stir it up, the nutty vibe spreads through the whole cup. Coconut sweetness + jasmine floral notes = super refreshing combo, and it's not crazy sweet at all. Great spot if you're into lighter, more "tea-forward" drinks instead of sugary boba bombs :) read more

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #116 I haven't visited Molly Tea since the Grand Opening, but I saw the boba shop recently added brown sugar boba as a topping and I had to give it a revisit. Not to mention that I also wanted to do a direct comparison between the Premium Jasmine here and at UG tea. The result? Molly comes out on top by a large margin, although UG is much cheaper. Molly gives a smaller portion size (16oz vs large 22oz) and yet costs more then UG. Premium Jasmine Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Boba ($7.98) - The milk tea is thick, luscious almost like cream with fragrant, rounded flowery notes. The jasmine flavor is deep, filling the olfactory glands and taste buds with a rich fragrance, which finishes into a nutty and earthy barley-like essence. In comparison, UG Tea offers a thinner drink that offers a good but flatter jasmine flavor, then laces it with a somewhat overbrewed tannic tea quality. Still good in comparison with most boba shops, but noticeably worse than Molly. Unfortunately the boba isn't great - I can see why they didn't have it as an option before. While very sweet and minerally from the brown sugar soak, the texture is a too soft. Decent bounce, but the boba compresses too easily on the tongue. The pearls are also not uniform spheres, instead having rough crags all along the exterior. Milk Tea Rating: 5/5 Boba Rating: 3.5/5 I'm still leaving Molly as a 5*, but if this had been my first experience I probably would have set it as 4* given the subpar boba quality. They still have top tier milk tea though! One last thing - this place is still really busy. I expected things to die down since it's been open for a year now. It's so hard to find parking around here! We had to circle the area for almost 10 minutes finally finding a spot by the park nearby. Fortunately, we were able to order online, and the wait was only about 15 minutes. It definitely gets busy on Saturday afternoons. TONGMU LAPSANG MILK TEA - 8.49 + less ice, 30% sugar This is usually my go-to because I love the smoky, woodsy flavor of the tea. This time, though, I thought the tea tasted a bit more diluted than usual. It was still a solid milk tea with the perfect sweetness level, but it didn't have the bold smoky flavor I was expecting. On the other note, it was really pricy. I've been to other Molly Teas locations (e.g. LA and the DMV) in the past year, and this same drink is usually $1.50 cheaper. I love the tea here and Molly tea never fails to bring modern twists to classic staple drinks. The wait is long, but always worth the quality of the drinks. That being said, I am very displeased with how Molly Tea runs their promotions and communicates to their customers during promotional gift periods. Whenever a promotional gift is available, I ask the staff if it is in stock prior to ordering, then when I pick up my order, they tell me that they already ran out of stock for the day HOURS ago. It's a pretty poor customer experience especially since I order MORE than usual to get these free gifts or order drinks I typically wouldn't. This has happened twice in a row so far and I wish the staff was just communicate honestly or that the company would stock an appropriate amount of stock per day. MOLLY TEA @ BELLEVUE Parking here can be a bit difficult. There is a parking lot, but it gets extremely packed since there are so many restaurants and businesses nearby. My friends and I luckily found street parking a little further up, so just be prepared to drive around for a bit if you don't find a spot right away. I've driven by this place so many times and always noticed how long the lines were, so I was surprised when I came on a Wednesday around 8 PM and there was no line. We ordered through the self-service kiosks they had two, but one was out of order, which slowed things down a lot. By the time we finished ordering, a long line had already formed behind us. Service-wise, I have to agree with a lot of the reviews I read beforehand it wasn't great. The staff didn't feel very welcoming, and it almost seemed like they didn't want to interact with customers. I had a few questions about the drinks, but it was hard to get anyone's attention. It also wasn't very clear if they were only doing self-order or not, which made the experience a bit confusing. I ended up getting a jasmine milk tea with boba, and toppings are about $1 each. My friends ordered a mango smoothie as well. The wait time was pretty long around 25 minutes--which felt excessive since there wasn't that many people to start with as we walked in, especially since I kept checking back and forth between the counter and our table. That said, the shop itself has plenty of seating and even a restroom for customers, which is a plus. Once we finally got our drinks, though, they were really good. Quality of the tea is still phenomenal. Unfortunately service is even worse, though I acknowledge the masses here and at HEYTEA are especially crazy and the workers are under high pressure. On my most recent visit, a worker was cleaning up my drink as it spilled all over the sides. A male worker (manager?) pushed her towards the back, slammed my drinks up front, and walked away while the cup was still leaking. On the bright side, the wait time for Washington Molly Tea is nothing compared to other states. Tables and seats open fairly frequently as most people leave after getting their drinks. Could be any combination of more employees, less customers, or the hasty push for quantity of drinks. I've heard so much praise about Molly Tea, and now that the hype has finally died down, I came in to try some! For my first visit, I got the snowy jasmine. I absolutely loved the tea flavor, It's strong, floral, and fragrant, something you don't often see. The whipped cream was light, airy, and had a subtle jasmine flavor that really elevated the drink as a whole. I was worried it would be overrated and overpriced, but you can definitely taste the quality difference in the ingredients they use. The drinks alone are honestly a 5/5 for me. One thing that did rub me the wrong way was the service. Despite coming in on a fairly quiet day, there were a few staff members who (in my opinion) acted a bit disrespectful towards other customers. When you come into the store, there's a big order sign at the front of the booth, so most would assume to order from there. On the other side of the store though are two kiosks which make ordering simpler, so I guess they weren't using the actual order booth. I noticed that a line of customers had formed at the order booth but none of the staff were really interacting with them or telling them to use the kiosk instead. They were all kinda just chatting with one another and only alerted them about the kiosk once a customer asked for their attention. Not the most efficient process or positive interaction in my opinion. Despite all that though, the tea is definitely good enough for me to come back. read more

If you like jasmine tea, you'll definitely like Molly Tea. Otherwise, if you're just a casual enjoyer of jasmine like me, Molly Tea is still good, just not mind blowing. Molly Tea is also known for being very aesthetic and aesthetic it is. The store fits this image, but it also gets very crowded. It can be very busy and we waited over 30 minutes for one drink, but the staff do their best to keep up. Part of why it takes so long is because they need to put the whipped cream on in front of you as you pick up your drink. Parking can be tough since the area gets busy but I usually get lucky with the free 2 hour parking or circle the block once until something opens up. It seems ordering mainly takes place on the two large tablet ordering screens in the lobby. For my first visit I decided to order one of the recommended must try drinks. I went with the White Champaca Matcha add crystal boba. The boba wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite. The drink itself was very light and perfect for someone who doesn't like too sweet. The matcha foam on top was perfectly smooth and flavor was tasty. The drink itself was yummy. I enjoyed it mainly because it was not too sweet and very light. Molly Tea is supposedly the "S-Tier" luxury bubble tea spot in Bellevue. They are known for their floral and jasmine milk tea drinks served in bright pink or gold hot cups (and often given in a pink paper bag if you order several drinks). When Molly Tea first opened, the lines were out the door and around the block, and so I waited until the crowds went down to get my first taste of Molly Tea last summer. The interior of Molly Tea resembles a fancy handbag or perfume store, except instead of handbags and perfumes, they display their different drink cups and home incenses on lit up shelves. They also feature their "speciality straw" which they claim "makes each sip deliver a unique combination of smoothness, floral notes and tea aroma, creating a delightful flavor experience". I'm not sure if the straw is really that special, but upon first sip, you're supposed to savor the teas aroma, the second sip, you taste the tea's flavor, and the third sip, you experience the tea's charm, at least according to the sign. I'm pretty sure their straws are just your regular plastic straw, so take their marketing with a grain of salt. Hopefully, their straws are at least biodegradable and eco-friendly. I was excited to try their Pistachio Jasmine Coconut or Premium Jasmine Matcha milk teas, but unfortunately they were out of like half their menu when I arrived (minus one star). So, instead, I settled for their PREMIUM JASMINE MILK TEA with OATMILK ($6.99) and got a GARDENIA OOLONG MILK TEA ($6.79) for my significant other. With tax and tip, the drinks were definitely on the pricey side coming up to about $10 for a 16-oz drink, but not unheard of in Bellevue and similar to Chi Cha San Chen sizes and prices. You order from a kiosk and on a weekday afternoon, the lines moved fairly quickly. I waited maybe 10 minutes or so to get my drink. I will say the automated system that calls out your drink number is slightly annoying, but it gets the job done. The PREMIUM JASMINE MILK TEA is their signature drink. It had strong floral tea tastes and was creamy and definitely on the not too sweet side. I lifted up my cup lid and was surprised to see a fresh slice of orange in my milk tea. It was quite delicious and sweet. The GARDENIA OOLONG MILK TEA had much stronger floral notes and smell than the Jasmine Milk Tea. It really tasted like I was eating a flower and was also on the not too sweet side. I can't say I've had anything quite like it at other boba shops. This one comes in a fancy gold cup, but no orange slice. Overall, I get the Molly Tea hype because of their unique menu, flavors, and concentrated tea. They also have interesting topping choices like pecan, cheese matcha, Jasmine whipped cream, and cheese matcha. However, between Chi Cha San Chen and Molly, I would choose Chi Cha as I'm more of a black milk tea fan and less of a floral and fruity boba tea fan (personal preference though). With that said, I would give Molly Tea another try if they have seasonal flavors in stock. Final Score: 4/5 for drinks, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere read more

Something I always like is when a bubble tea shop has a self-ordering kiosk, which is so less stressful compared to being put on the spot when you're at the counter (in my experience). I got the Premium Jasmine Matcha Milk Tea which I think is best enjoyed when drinking through the lid because you can enjoy both the matcha cheese foam and the jasmine milk tea separately if that's your jam. The matcha isn't overly bitter or "dusty" and the jasmine milk tea comes in smooth and florally. Eventually I find myself drinking it through a straw so I am not inhaling it. I can see why it is a must try! The interior is bright, clean, and giving minimalist interior. It's the kind of place where your drink looks good before you even take a sip. read more
