I don't know why I've been sleeping on this spot! Really good quality teas, and Choo tea doesn't hold back with the toppings! My friend introduced me to this hidden place tucked away near the Bellevue transit center. As it was my first time, I took a while checking out the menu since it had pretty unique drinks. The servers were incredibly kind and explained their most popular items including the Osmanthus milk tea (which has fermented rice, so contains a wine flavor), Osmanthus Oolong Tea Latte (looks visually a lot like Molly tea's snowy jasmine), and Taro and Purple Potato Milk. The menu item descriptions are in Chinese which makes it hard to know what's in what unless you ask someone working there, which I think is the only thing I would suggest they improve. I ordered the Green Milk Tea with Taro and Oreo and my friend got the Lychee Oolong Tea Latte which comes with pecans on top of the whipped cream. I was pleasantly surprised by mine, I thought it would just be a standard green tea with some Oreo and taro here and there. But it had a ton of Oreo and cream, a huge amount of fresh taro paste at the bottom, along with taro boba as well. The tea was also in fact a really yummy and floral jasmine milk tea, which I was not expecting. Been holding off on trying this spot because the drinks always looked okay to me until I saw that they were selling the mango and durian smoothie! I love durian, so I finally gave in to give it a try today. I ordered the mango and durian smoothie and the black sesame basque cheesecake. They made the drink decently fast despite the rush BUT they never called my number out because they only saw 1/2 of my order was completed. So I waited thinking they must be packing my cheesecake (which should have been packed immediately after order was placed), but I realized nobody was packing it. Multiple employees would look at my drink to see that the other half of my order is still not out on the bar and then just leave my drink sitting there. This happened multiple times that I got so annoyed by their lack of a good system that I approached someone to ask about my order. The girl was confused and when I told her that I was missing the cheesecake, she said she'll go pack it immediately for me...only for her to pass that task down to someone else and they were packing mines along with someone else who just placed an order for some of the pastries, so it took even longer to get my order. The drink overall is a 3/10. It needs more durian as all I can mostly taste is just the mango. There was also jelly in there but couldn't quite figure out what the jelly tastes like and there was no description for what the toppings are in the drink. The black sesame basque cheesecake was really rich in the black sesame flavor which I love! But I would not wait 20mins for a slice of cheesecake again smh. Had high hopes for this place, and while it was good it wasn't anything outstanding. The peach oolong tea was very refreshing, and I chose to get it with taro balls. Theirs are different than the normal pale purple color you see - they are much darker, and the texture more resembles boba. I did like the flavor, but I still prefer chicha's. read more

Choo tea is located on a corner. There's street parking or a paid lot however it was a little difficult to find parking during my visit. Looking at the menu, their recommended drinks are tea lattes (like Chayan and Molly tea) and fruit drinks. The interior is a nice spot for a couple friends to catch up though. I got the jasmine tea latte with 70% sweet and should've gone with 50%. Unfortunately, the drink was essentially milk with an essence of jasmine tea. This is the third place I've been to that serves frappe tea lattes with the whip cream and pecans on top, the other two being Molly Tea (in the same city and almost vicinity as this place) and Chayan (in the U District). There's not much difference in the quality among them, which is to say I love the drinks I can get here. This could be the newer trend combatting - in my opinion - an imminently declining matcha craze in this state. I stopped by with a friend on a Friday night around 7:25pm after struggling to find parking nearby; you can usually find spots around the strip of 106th Ave NE just past Tapster, or along NE 2nd St. You're greeted by a pretty small cafe-like area that's clean, bright and a little noisy because of the drinks being prepared. They also sell pastries, which is pretty cool considering other places solely sell drinks. Throughout our visit, people kept coming in even when it was just 9 minutes before closing at 8pm and seating inside was almost full, so it's still gaining tons of traction even after several months of opening. Perhaps the time I went is more ideal given I've heard longer lines during peak hours. I got their osmanthus oolong tea latte at 30% sweetness and 50% ice as recommended by one of the servers at the front (15% sweetness recommended instead if you don't want it too sweet). Not too sweet, and the oolong tea flavors were really strong and floral here. Pecans added a nuttiness to the drink that I enjoyed, and it wasn't too heavy. Cup was on the smaller side though, and some of the flavors can be too strong for some tastes. I shared this drink with my friend, and he enjoyed it as well though I'm pretty sure neither of us got a good night's sleep after because of how strong their tea was. This is one of many drink places in competition with others around Bellevue, and I don't see myself coming here as often because of the wackier parking situations compared to near Downtown Bellevue Park or even around the UW Ave. Regardless, I loved my experience here and would consider taking others here if I'm around. read more

Choo Tea seems to be one of those "premium" tea spots that have been trending recently with a focus on the frappe latte variants (tea with whipped cream). However, they do offer additional specialties and classic drinks which I appreciate. They have some appealing bakery items but the flavored pastries are a bit dry, so would skip. Black Sesame Basque Cheesecake - rich, creamy cake though the black sesame definitely covers any hint of cheesecake. Black sesame flavor was great though, so definitely recommend for black sesame lovers. My colleague and I visited Choo Tea as it's walking distance from the office in downtown Bellevue and for their soft opening, it was pretty busy with patrons. There was a lot to choose from. My colleague ordered the coconut jasmine tea while I tried one of their handcrafted, specialty items, the matcha Oreo blend. When I attempted to order without sugar, they advised to have some sugar, so I ended up ordering it with 30%. It was a good amount too as it was not sweet, which I liked. I tasted more of the matcha and cream with the boba that came with. I'd be curious to try the other drinks offered here since the menu is large and you can customize the amount of ice and sugar in your drink. Although it's not my favorite spot or one I'd crave again, Choo Tea was solid. If I'm nearby the place, I'll check it out. You can't customize sweetness for this drink, and I wished this drink was a little less sweet. Lychee Oolong Tea with Salty Cream: This drink was great. The 30% sweetness was just right. The salty cream was a great complement to the tea, and tasted yummy when everything was mixed together. The lychee flavor was subtle, but you could still taste it. If you're somebody who likes stronger flavors, go with the 100%, and you will probably like that more. I also add their crystal balls to it for the extra satisfying chew -- these are not tapioca balls, but more of a clear gel. I have also tried their baseline milk tea once, and I remember liking it. That used to be my go to (until I discovered the teas I mentioned above), and if I didn't like the baseline milk tea from a place, well that would nix the entire place for me lol. In this case, I did like it, so then I ventured to try these other drinks. I've been to choo tea twice so far, so I can't say that I'm knowledgeable or have experienced many of their teas but the two I ordered weren't bad. The mango fruit tea was good; I got it at 30% sweet but could honestly go down to 10%. I also ordered their lychee oolong tea latte. I asked the server what the difference was between a tea latte and a milk tea and he didn't seem so sure. I tried it anyway, 30% sweet, iced. It tasted OK, a good lychee tea flavor. But with absolutely no ice, as you'll see in the picture. Extremely disappointing to not get any ice when you're expecting a refreshing iced drink. Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #98 Choo Tea seems like it was straight plucked out from China given the overall design and minimalist feel. Like Heytea and others, boba shops like this tend to rely on telepathy and mind reading to discern what their menu items actually include. The other places at least have apps that give more description. Choo Tea on the other hand, takes things to another level and assumes that the customer knows the menu as well as the staff does. Then again, the staff seemed clueless as well, even though it was several days after the Grand Opening. Creamy Milk Tea w/ Pearl, 50% Sweet, Light Ice ($7.50) - I asked if this drink included dairy and/or milk and got two very conflicting answers. Firstly, the cashier, who didn't seem to understand the question, answered that they put milk on top. One of the bobaristas, who overheard the question, popped up and said they only use non dairy creamer. I have a feeling that neither are correct, given the texture and flavor of the drink. It first starts with very caramel-like, brown sugar overtones, then transitions to a bit of a milky funk, like they use cheese foam to thicken the drink. It is indeed very creamy and thick, making it feel luxurious and silky across the palate. There is unfortunately one missing element - that of the tea flavor, although given how deep the caramel notes are, I didn't mind too much. At half sweet it's not too sweet and half ice, surprisingly, isn't actually enough. The drink reaches the cusp of completely cooling, but the ice completely melts, and is thus unable to continue cooling the drink. I would go with full ice, especially if visiting during a warmer day. The boba, which comes included in the price of the drink, is excellent. Each pearl is uniform in size and smoothness, has plenty of sweetness from the brown sugar soak, and has pretty much the ideal chew and bounce. It's one of the best textures for boba around the Seattle area. Honestly, if they had a fully fleshed out menu, the staff actually knew what was going on, and I had ordered only the Creamy Milk Tea w/ Pearl, Choo Tea would likely land as a 5. But given my everything written above and my terrible experience with the Osmanthus Milk Tea, it gets a 3. *It was only after I examined my picture of one of the menus while writing this review that I noticed an asterisk to the right of the drink and the tiny print on the bottom explaining the addition of rice wine and "Othamanthus" jelly. This place is in the lobby of one of the business buildings away from the mall. As soon as I walked in, I liked the welcoming aesthetics and decor. I was able to try 2 drinks the Osmanthus oolong and the purple potato milk tea. The osmanthus oolong was delicate could have been a bit stronger, I got it the salty foam on top and while I usually love the salt cheese toppings this one I liked but didn't love. There is a bit of a different tang to it that was unexpected or maybe it doesn't go best with oolong flavor. On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by the potato milk drink. I got this hot and had open expectations. It was real nice to tuck into on a chilly day and would call it a comfort drink as it's a little on the heavy side. The flavor was balanced and the potato taro was not too sweet. The service was overall pleasant however they instructed when I asked a couple questions on their special versus what would be good recommendations. I visited the store today and experienced an unusually long wait time. There were three employees working, and there did not appear to be a large number of pending orders. While I was waiting, I noticed two employees spending an extended amount of time guiding another employee through the drink-making process, while my order remained unfinished. What was especially frustrating was that customers who ordered after me received their drinks before I did. After waiting for around 10 minutes, I went to check on the status of my order and saw that it still had not been completed. Shortly after I approached the counter and watched the preparation process, my drink was finally finished. I understand that training new employees is necessary, but customers should not be overlooked during training. Better communication and order management would greatly improve the customer experience. read more

It was my first time at Choo Tea. The service was courteous and quick. I chose to try the Grapefruit and Peach Tea. I ordered it with the lowest available sweetness and regular ice. It was the perfect amount of sweetness. read more
