Matcha Magic has a few locations in the Greater Seattle area; this one in particular that I visited was in Downtown Bellevue. There is street parking around the area and it's quite accessible via public transportation. From the outside, it doesn't seem very big. However, once you actually go inside, it is much larger. It was very spacious and very colorful inside. Lots of pink all around. The service was good. It was a friendly and simple interaction to get my order and drink out. I have been hesitant on trying the matcha from Matcha Magic because I have heard mixed reviews and opinions. Instead, I opted to order one of their popular smoothies, the Strawberry Glaze. The total for my smoothie came out to be $14.34. The smoothie consists of banana, strawberry, avocado, dates, collagen, tremella, and almond milk topped with coconut cream and swirled with house-made strawberry puree. It was good, but nothing I would personally order again. read more

Matcha Magic feels like the closest local version of an Erewhon-style smoothie outside of Joe & The Juice. I tried the Strawberry Glaze and understood the hype right away. It was rich, balanced, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. Compared to Erewhon smoothies, this one was more drinkable and less icy, which I preferred. Definitely mix it before drinking since the strawberry purée settles at the bottom and gets very sweet. The shop is cute and conveniently located in old downtown Bellevue near the park, making it an easy stop during a walk. They also let me briefly bring my dog inside while placing a takeout order, which I appreciated. For the price, it feels fair given the quality and ingredients. I'm already looking forward to trying the coconut smoothie next time. read more

My first time visiting Matcha Magic, and unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. As soon as I walked in, the two girls working there greeted me very coldly. It honestly felt like they didn't want me there. I ordered my matcha and waited, and when it was ready, they simply placed it on the counter without saying a word while continuing their conversation. I was the only customer there that early in the morning, yet they didn't even seem to notice when I left. The matcha was okay, but the customer service made me feel completely unwelcome. I hope they treat future customers with a little more warmth and attention. I've honestly never felt so unwelcome in a café. read more

My partner and I joke that this place is why we moved to the eastside because wowwwww wowowowowwowow. I don't think I've ever loved a cafe this much since moving from my hometown nyc like 4 years ago the drinks are SO good (I've tried to recreate them at home and...to no avail). The matcha is perfect, great quality. The food here is amazing! I've tried the avocado toast with salmon on top and it totally hits the spot! I've also tried their maca energy balls and I like that they're not too overly sweet! We always come back for the smoothies that's I find better than Erewhon IMO! Service is great! They're very friendly and make suggestions too! LOVE this place and wish we had somewhere similar at home - hopefully someday! I was in town for a week and came here twice. The decor in the store is SO cute. Service was quick (though admittedly I was not there at peak hours). I tried the regular matcha latte and a strawberry, and both were excellent. Smooth matcha flavor and the strawberry tasted like real puréed strawberries (which I think they were)! Avocado toast was delicious as well. I want to preface this by saying my five star rating is for one drink: Strawberry Hojicha. And it is, by far, my favorite hojicha in Bellevue. There are 3 cafes I go to on the regular for my hojicha fix: Magic Matcha, Tendon Kohaku, and Bobae in Kirkland. While I enjoy all three, Magic Matcha is my favorite. The roasted tea flavor is strong, they allow me to adjust the sweetness level, and the flavor of the drink is always consistent. I've had issues with Tendon and Bobae either changing up the brand or the roast or adding too much milk on any given day. One of my gfs loves their horchata hojicha so there's that. I tasted it and it was objectively good. I wouldn't get it only because I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon, but if I were, it would be another go-to drink. read more

MATCHA MAGIC @ BELLEVUE Parking is a bit difficult here since it's right off the main road in Downtown Bellevue, so it's mostly street parking. Luckily, I was able to find a spot. Most street parking is free for up to 2 hours. I'd also recommend parking by Macy's and walking about 10 minutes to the matcha place (you'll pass the park), or parking near Bellevue Downtown Park, though that area can get very busy. I ordered two items through my ClassPass account, which cost me 11 credits (about $25 total). I got the Strawberry Matcha and their Banana Split Açaí Bowl, which has a coconut and açaí base with honey, cacao nibs, banana, strawberries, granola, and honey. The açaí bowl was $14, and the matcha was around $8. Overall, I absolutely loved the matcha. It was strong on the matcha flavor and lighter on the strawberry, but still very delicious and clearly high quality. The açaí bowl was a miss for me, I've definitely had better quality with more toppings for $14. That said, it was decent, and I really enjoyed the coconut base since it felt light and refreshing. I wouldn't recommend getting this however. Overall, I loved the vibe of this place. It's very spacious, and I'd definitely come back for the matcha and to get some work done. I'd also love to try their shakes next, they look incredible. read more

Realistically, my review is a high 3 stars, like a 3.7-3.9, and is mostly weighed down by the fact that the matcha latte was meh. Not awful, not I'll-never-drink-again-bad, but meh. I've been here twice, once a few years ago with my cousins, and another three days ago. The people working were attentive and quick with their service. The ambiance of the place is cute, a lot of pink and green, very instagram-worthy, and I saw a few people with friends or working on their laptop so it seems like a great place vibe-wise. To expand on my matcha critique, I found the color to be a little on the green-yellow side, which isn't the end all- be all quality indicator for matcha, but I find matcha lattes that are more rich in color tend to taste better and this tasted like a matcha drink I could make with costco matcha. I've made some decent lattes with costco matcha but once I switched to the more higher quality ones, well, it sorta refined my tastes. There isn't a lot of parking, and to be fair, a lot of people who are in downtown Bellevue are parked elsewhere else and likely just meander their way to the cafe. However, if you're coming in by car, I'd suggest parking by the apartments nearby, DO NOT park at the Chase Bank lot, even if the bank itself is closed (learned my lesson...). Overall, a 3.7-3.9. Could be better. Maybe with other additives like cold foam or strawberries, the drink is better, but I'm judging based off the basic latte. read more

So happy to finally try here! And again I should temper my expectations... As part of my early birthday celebration, my friend and I came here around 12pm after a meal elsewhere to give this place a shot. It's pretty chill inside, with several tables near the entrance and near the counter where drinks are made. There's even a table near the back entrance where you can sit at as well. The pink walls and several neon lights with funny quotes add a cutesy picturesque feel especially when you get to sit inside. Though I used street parking near the Downtown Bellevue Park, you can actually utilize the small parking lot right next to this place to get 1 hour free parking if needed. This location specializes in drinks made with matcha in many ways, which was pretty appealing to me and my friend to the point where we had a hard time deciding what we each wanted. I ended up getting the purple rain, which has lavender, ube puree, oat milk as a default and matcha sweet cream. This was delicious, and the matcha undertones were perfectly strong and floral throughout. I will say that the ube and lavender mix ever so slightly overpowers the drink when mixing the whole thing, so I'd probably not stir the drink the whole way and try to get sips of both the matcha and ube separately to get a feel of how powerful each part is individually. My friend got their matcha horchata, and unfortunately he was disappointed with his drink overall. Ironically, the matcha overpowered the horchata and the ice in his drink very quickly watered his drink down. It's actually great to know that this place doesn't skimp on their matcha, but there was an imbalance between the matcha and horchata when I had several sips of his drink, especially at the very beginning and the very end where either the matcha or water took over. Despite all this, I'd come back again to try some of their other drinks, and maybe chill there longer for even more photo ops. I'm currently eyeing the cookies and cream matcha for my next visit! read more

Can taste the pumpkin, and really like creaminess of the matcha, but a tad too sweet for me. As fot the smoothie, it is like a dupe of erawon smoothie, better and cheaper. Service is fast. Seating: plenty indoor only seating. Restroom: require a key from the cashier, go all the way back , follow the directions. Kinda loud to talk. Stopped by Matcha Magic and I'd give it a solid 4 stars! I tried the Oreo & matcha mix and while the matcha flavor was a little on the stronger side, you could still taste the cookies & cream which made it pretty tasty overall. My friend got the toasted matchamallow latte--it was okay, nothing too crazy but still fun to try. We also had the house avocado toast, really good toast. The olive oil really compliments the tomatoes and makes the whole bite feel super fresh. All the girlies working there are so sweet, and the cafe itself is the cutest pink vibe. The interiors are so fun and whimsical - I could totally see myself chilling here for a couple hours with a friend over matcha. They have a variety of matcha drinks including ones with mushrooms and different flavors like strawberry. As a matcha lover, I was so glad to have discovered this spot! They have more cute and trendy type matcha latte than traditional Japanese matcha tea - just fyi for aficionados, but I loved it and it was just up my alley. We got the magic mushroom potion one, and a strawberry matcha latte. The strawberry one was nice and had a good amount of sweetness. Did I drink 1.5 matchas back to back and then have energy all day? What we got: 1. Regular matcha latte 2. Strawberry matcha latte I usually go for the regular since strawberry tends to overpower the matcha but here I lovedddd the strawberry matcha!! Not overpowering at all! They use 6g of matcha per cup so you definitely taste the matcha. Flavor is smooth, sweet, and slightly nutty. They sweeten with simple syrup but it is the perfect sweetness. They also sell tins which I've tried and love. If you like a nutty matcha this tin is for you. Decor is very cute and service is also great! read more

Mr. Brioche ($11) - This sandwich starts with a rich toasted brioche bun, which is then slathered with some creamy and fatty aioli. A soft and tender, spiced breakfast patty is placed on top, charred just a tad to give some browning and develop flavor. Some eggs, cooked on the flat top in a circular mold which makes it perfectly conform to the size of the bun, is carefully placed on top of the meat, and then finally some swiss cheese cements the sweet vegetal microgreens atop. The bun is voluminous, especially noteworthy in height. The interior ingredients only reaches perhaps 1/3 the height of the bun, making it appear that the sandwich will be dry. But that's an impression soon deemed to be false, as there's more than enough moisture from the aioli and melted cheese to smooth things over. (4/5) I don't normally associate cafes, particularly ones that seem to lean more towards the drink side of things, to also serve good food. But overall, I came out pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food I ate. Bathrooms - Single unisex room.

The interior is fairly small with only a few tables to sit/stand at and so it's mostly a takeout place rather than a place to meet with friends. Emerald City Smoothie has a wide menu and categorize their menu into five categories based on health goals: "Boost My Immune System", "Help Me Lose Weight", "Go Green", "Bulk Me Up" and "Nourish My Body". They also have a menu just for "Boosters" which cost extra and include everything from antioxidants to bees pollen to creatine and fat burner. Lastly, they have a Secret Menu which includes Banana Creme Pie, Matcha Green Tea, Maui Paradise, Mountain Berry Blast, Orange Creamsicle, Piña Colada, and Peanut Butter Cup. I'm pretty sure their secret menu is just drinks that don't fit into the other categories (or ran out of room for), because they had these same drinks on their menu ten years ago. I ordered the MATCHA GREEN TEA (16-oz) off the secret menu. This smoothie has soy milk, matcha, non-fat milk, and whey. For $7.44 (including tax), this was pretty pricey for a "healthified" matcha Frappucinno. They obviously don't use high quality matcha as the matcha color was on the yellow side and the taste was quite diluted and bland. It mostly just tasted like sugary blended milk with little to no matcha flavor; I was honestly disappointed, but drank it anyway. My friend got her favorite NUTTY BANANA (sub vegan protein) which has banana, peanut butter, protein, and nonfat milk, which is probably what I should've gotten instead. She also ordered a PB&J and MANGO MANIA for her family members which are also supposed to be decent. Lesson learned, stick with the fruit smoothies. Also that it's peak dinner time? Anyway, you place your order on a lone kiosk up front which did contribute to the really long line forming near the outside entrance. Staff were a little rushed with some orders and forgot to give me utensils when I requested them through the kiosk but this didn't affect my overall experience, as I went back and they were more than happy to give them to me. We got their unagi donburi, which consists of a ton of broiled freshwater eel with an umami seasoning and tender juiciness, all on top of a huge bed of rice and with some radish. One of my friends instead got their una-gyu donburi which is a mix of unagi and sukiyaki beef, though that means we all got their unagi. Eel wasn't too salty, and scales are very fine and small that you can just eat it as is. This was a warming, hearty meal that sat very well with me and my friends. For this location and the one in Georgetown, I am most certainly coming back for some more!

I came here to try the hailey bieber dupe and was a bit disappointed. In addition to the strawberry glaze, I was also really interested in trying their matcha so we also got the Toasted MatchaMallow Latte. I thought the two components -- matcha and marshmellow would be a bit more intertwined given the name but they were just totally separate. It was just a toasted marshmellow on a stick stuck in the straw hole of the lid. The matcha was just normal matcha but really pasty. The smoothie was priced at $13 for 16 ounces which is kind of similar to the $20 for 20 ounces for the erewhon one in terms of price point but it wasn't as good. Aesthetic wise I also feel a bit lied to by the yelp pictures because there wasn't actually labels on the cup, only sleeves and the smoothie drink I got looked nothing like the pictures. The total for the two drinks was $22 so it was really pricey in my opinion. The chairs inside were also really uncomfortable. I don't think I will be back but anything is worth the try. read more

Okay just here to say this is the best Açaí bowl I've had in YEARS. Lowkey mad I couldn't try everything on the menu, might actually grab a matcha too before I leave, writing this mid-eating it because I needed to share. Fruit is insanely fresh, perfect amount of peanut butter, the açaí base is delicious and not overly sweet. No complaints, staff was friendly, and not gonna lie, they also have tiny flamingo floaties if you write a review. But that did not bias this review haha. Absolutely loved my visit to Matcha Magic Bellevue! The matcha drinks were rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced--not too bitter and not too sweet. I tried their matcha latte and it was easily one of the best I've had in the area. The desserts were also a delight--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Wow! I usually don't write reviews but I love this place! The matcha was amazing! And so was the service! I had a ton of questions not knowing what some of the boosters were and I'm trying my best to watch calories. The barista helping me was so patient and grabbed her manager to answer any questions she couldn't. She seemed very knowledgeable about the nutritional content so definitely ask for her help! :) I appreciated how attentive they were with me and I will definitely come back soon!
