Interior was very clean, modern, and sleek! There is a decent amount of seating, however there were only a few tables. There were also a couple chairs and umbrellas outside as well. I did see at least one outlet, and the cafe does provide wifi. It might not be at the top of my list for work cafes, especially since it is a little more on the noisy side. The cafe wasn't crazy busy when we went, but there was definitely a decent flow of customers coming in and out. Service was kind while we figured out what we wanted and answered all of our questions patiently. A few minutes before 11:00A on a Friday, a line already formed outside of MOWOOD, the latest matcha cafe in Redmond. In addition to their popular Japanese Nama donuts, they also offer a couple of coffee and smoothie options too. Two of us were second in line, so we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Based on our quick interaction with the staff at the counter, they were friendly and our drinks appeared to be crafted with care. Note: All drinks default to light sweetness and a standard amount of ice. They also default to whole milk which adds a nice richness to the drinks, though alternative milks are available for an extra charge. + JASMINE MATCHA CLOUD ($6.75, 16 oz.): A Jasmine milk tea combined with matcha and topped with a layer of their house cold foam. Given the Jasmine tea base, the matcha flavor actually took a backseat, allowing the floral notes to shine. Nevertheless, I personally really enjoyed the drink and the sweetness and ice levels were just right for me. The cold foam was creamy, slightly sweet and seemed to have just a tiny hint of salt. + STRAWBERRY MATCHA ($6.75, 16 oz.): A vibrant red strawberry jam pooled at the bottom of the cup, layered with whole milk and the deep green ceremonial matcha on top. The strawberry tasted really ripe and natural, not overly sweet. After a quick stir, the drink was pretty balanced, although leaning more towards the berry flavor with an underlying earthiness from the matcha. I enjoyed it and actually felt a little jolt of energy that afternoon. + NAMA DONUTS: They offered three types of filling that day - matcha, chocolate and vanilla - or you could order them plain. These donuts were soft, coated lightly in fine sugar and filled with a satisfying amount of cream. The dough had a nice yeasty chew, though it was not quite as airy as I anticipated. We ordered one MATCHA ($6.00) and one VANILLA ($5.50). The matcha cream had the perfect strength and I loved the luscious vanilla bean cream in the other one. Again, not too sweet! MOWOOD is a wonderful addition to Redmond's cafe scene! I got a banana pudding matcha and black sesame donut. The matcha was delicious! It looks like a small amount of pudding but some of it sinks in so it was a good amount I my opinion. The matcha comes with very little sweetness so I like that they had cane sugar syrup available near the straws and napkins so I can adjust my own sweetness. The donuts were perfectly light, airly crispy and sugary! I would honestly be happy having this plain too! The sesame cream filling was light and delicious. MOWOOD @ REDMOND Parking is street parking only, so don't expect to find a private parking lot right next door. If you have some extra time and plan on exploring Redmond before or after your visit, I'd recommend parking at Redmond Town Center. It's only a couple of blocks away and has a free parking garage along with plenty of street parking. From there, it's an easy walk to Mo Wood. Otherwise, you can try to find street parking nearby. There aren't a ton of spots, but if you're lucky, you can usually grab one. I actually came here because my brother recommended it after trying it himself. I found it on Yelp, and it was interesting because it's listed as a coffee shop. I had been looking for new matcha spots since the only one I'd really been to before was Matcha Magic. I like Matcha Magic, but sometimes their matcha can be a little watered down, so I wanted to try something new. The staff was friendly, and the menu had a huge variety of drinks. They offered several different matcha options, smoothies that reminded me a bit of Erewhon's signature smoothies, and plenty of coffee choices as well. The café itself is beautiful and has a really clean, aesthetic atmosphere. My only small complaint is that it was extremely quiet inside. I wish the background music had been turned up just a little, not because I wanted loud music, but because it was so quiet that you could hear every conversation happening around you. I also wish there were a few larger tables. Most of the seating consists of small café tables, so if you're planning to bring your laptop and work for a few hours, it may not be the most comfortable setup. That said, it's a perfect spot to grab a coffee or matcha with a friend and relax for a bit. My drink came out to about $7.90, and they gave me a $5 coupon toward my next purchase. I'd definitely recommend entering your phone number to start earning rewards. As for the matcha, it was amazing. The ceremonial-grade matcha tasted incredibly fresh, vibrant, and high quality. The strawberry flavor was balanced perfectly and wasn't overly sweet. One thing I'm usually picky about is when cafés add too much syrup or too much ice. As an LA native, I can confirm this place is indeed NOT a "Community Goods" dupe, but instead, a complete let down. Banana Pudding Matcha: the pudding was chunky and not creamy enough. Therefore, it was hard to dissolve fully into the drink, making the matcha latte consist of undesirable textures rather than being smooth. 5/10 Jasmine Matcha Cloud: the matcha flavor was diluted and nearly absent. The jasmine tea taste was very mild. Overall, just tasted watered down and no milk substitution either for this drink! 4/10 Matcha Cloud Latte: matcha cream top over matcha latte. Not too sweet and decent. However, the matcha is still not very strong. The cup size was also outrageously small. 6/10 Street parking is available around the block and there's seating indoors and outdoors. Busy environment and very clean interior. It is on the smaller side, so I wouldn't recommend hanging around too long as it can get crowded. When we arrived Saturday at noon, there was a line almost out the door. The line moved fairly quickly, and it seemed customers received their orders quickly as well! I ordered the Matcha Cloud Latte with the defaulted whole milk option and a Vanilla Custard donut. My sister ordered the Jasmine Matcha Cloud also with the defaulted whole milk and Matcha Cream donut. The verdict about the drinks is it was quite milky. The milk flavor overpowered the matcha flavoring in the drinks for both of them. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Also, I noticed my drink was smaller than my sister's. Mine was a 12oz and hers was a 16oz. I didn't notice the difference while we were ordering because it was hard to see the indication. The donuts were good. You could taste the matcha flavoring in the cream. I liked the texture of the dough and the sweetness of the dough, too. I was quite surprised that the cost of the drinks wasn't outrageous. As a Bay Area/LA native, I had to try since I saw this is the community goods dupe but located in WA! the shop is located in downtown Redmond conveniently near the link/public transit. The store itself is well lit and has a sleek modern design but be aware there's not much table seating if you're trying to get work done. some 2 hour street parking outside but could get busy during peak hours. I visited around 2pm on a Friday afternoon and there were still plenty of donuts left but they sold out around 3pm. Not too long of a wait during this time. We got there at around 1055 an there was already a long line -- advice: go on weekdays is probably best. It's right next to the light rail so pretty convenient. The place has some seatings which is nice. I wish they had more non caffeinated options though for drinks. The only option they had was 2-3x as much as their matcha and caffeinated drink.... I ended up just getting the donuts: Plain and black sesame. My kids love it so a bonus point! The texture was soft and surprisingly it wasn't greasy at all. 3.5 Stars My friend who lives in Redmond told me about MOWOOD, which recently opened near the Downtown Redmond light rail station, and overall, it was fine. I can't say it's my favorite matcha, by any means. But it's satisfactory and quite frankly, I think it's one of the few options for matcha in Redmond, so that's a win. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was pretty busy, with most of the seats taken inside. They do have outdoor seating, but not much, but at least it's a place where you can take your dog. I liked that they had a dog bowl out for the fur babies, especially on such a sunny day. After asking the staff member what her favorite drink was, she recommended the banana pudding and the strawberry matcha ones. I ended up ordering the banana pudding, but was not given an option to adjust sugar level, which is a shame since I don't like my drinks sweet, especially matcha. And unfortunately, that was the case with mine. It was on the sweeter side, so I didn't taste the abundance of the matcha that I was really hoping for. I'd come back to give it another shot, especially since it's so close to the light rail station and is an area I frequent. Came here to check out what the type was all about - even on a weekday there was already a line outside the door right at opening time and it took about 30mins from when I joined the line to getting my food and drinks. The Jasmine Matcha Cloud drink ($6.75) was surprisingly refreshing and yummy, would definitely order that one again. The donuts were soft, fluffy and not too sweet (so that's great since I hate overly sweet desserts) but definitely not worth a 30min wait. Note that there is still a 2-donut limit in effect but that's sufficient if you're just wanting to try each flavor since they only have 2 main flavors (vanilla and matcha) + plain at any given time anyway. I hear on the weekends there's also a black sesame option. Docking a star because while the cafe is minimalistic and clean, there's not really anywhere to quietly enjoy your food/drinks because of the massive lines, and the seating area is very limited so most people just get it to go. Service was also almost non-existent with the cashier looking very grouchy at the crowds even right at opening time. This branch is a Community Goods and Erewhon dupe from LA that has finally made its way into the Eastside, which honestly houses so many Asian restaurants and drink places that I wasn't too surprised it made its way here. It's close to Salt & Straw and Momiji, and an upcoming Biang Biang Noodles as of this writing. It's also opposite the Redmond Transit Center, very convenient if you're just getting off the transit or want to go somewhere else after! I ended up parking inside the building, which I believe allows you to validate parking there for 2 hours if you're shopping within building limits; this location has a QR code where you can validate for just that. The inside lets in a ton of natural light from the windows at the entrance, and the brightly tinted wood walls and tables easily get brighter on this sunny Saturday at around 4:50pm when I got here. Seating is limited, which was a little dicey when people started lining up inside just before reaching outside throughout my stay here. Probably best to avoid peak hours even though I came really close to being there for that... there's also one unisex restroom that isn't locked by a code just on the right-hand side of the interior. MOWOOD's menu is pretty small with just matcha, smoothie and coffee offerings. There are pastries, and their donuts - which have been making incessant rounds on social media - were long sold out. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted, but staff was pretty patient with me, and even more so when I asked them about the aforementioned parking validation for the building. I ended up getting their banana pudding matcha latte with oat milk - the oat milk tacks $1 more onto the final price. One of my friends wasn't kidding when he also said he loved this place; their matcha carries strong grassy and earthy hints, and the banana pudding itself easily complements the matcha! I just made the mistake of stirring in everything before eating at least half of the banana pudding separately; this banana pudding isn't very soluble. It has slightly larger real banana bits that I couldn't get through my straw (after accidentally mixing everything in) and the toffee bits were in larger pieces too! Drink itself was sweet enough that I didn't need to add any extra cane sugar syrup, which is provided at a counter near the register along with water and MOWOOD merch. For almost $10, they give this drink to you in a larger cup than what most other places serving drinks have been offering! Very high quality matcha in a calm and bright setting! I finally visited Mowood in Redmond after seeing it all over Instagram. It's a little cozy coffee shop with modern touches. **The Matcha Strawberry** was better than expected. The matcha is rich and bold, and when mixed with the strawberry puree, the bitterness balances out perfectly with the sweetness. It kept me coming back for more. **The Black Sesame Madeleine** has a unique texture--it crumbles easily and feels a bit like Korean rice cake (Baekseolgi). My husband wasn't a fan, but as a rice cake lover, I didn't mind it. However, if you prefer soft and moist madeleines, this might not be for you. **The only downside was the service.** The staff member working there was quite unfriendly. When I asked a simple question about an item because it was hard to see from a distance, they answered with a visibly annoyed attitude, even though the shop wasn't busy. The fillings were actually really good, but the fried dough itself was pretty oily and kind of took away from it. We also got the banana cream matcha. I wish they were a bit more generous with them. I also tried the coconut cloud, and it was okay, but nothing special. I feel like I could make it better at home with cheap matcha. The matcha latte itself was pleasantly earthy, appropriately sweet, and I loved the banana bits inside. The plain donut was so pillowy, soft, and scrumptious - it was gone in seconds. Mowood opened 4 days ago, and I stopped by the last 2 days in a row. We walked in excited that this was actually open. We tried the Jasmine Matcha Cloud and the Strawberry Skin Glow smoothie. The ingredients, particularly the sea moss, coconut cream, and vanilla collagen piqued my interest. The smoothie was so good I returned the next day for another! Unfortunately they were out of donuts on both days when I stopped by after lunch. The pictures look amazing and I hope they figure out how to scale making the donuts to accommodate all of us who want to try them soon! I overheard one of the staff say that the Strawberry Matcha Latte was their favorite so maybe I'll try that if I stop by earlier in the morning since I'm sensitive to caffeine. The staff was very friendly on both days and it was pretty busy every time I walked by on both days. I can see Mowood becoming one of my regular go-to places. read more

Ambiance is japanese-esque The host wasn't too welcoming but just enough. She was prob annoyed by everyone asking her what's good. We got the jasmine cloud and the strawberrry skin glow. Jasmine cloud you could def taste jasmine as you keep drinking but over all nothing special. The matcha was a bit too gritty! Strawberry glow was good but tasted a bit too sweet near the end. I would come back to try the donuts! read more
