absolutely love this spot. a coworker introduced me to the cruller puffs and i had to come by to get them for myself. it's easily one of my favorite donut formats, just so delicious and fun. and at a reasonable price! the staff / owners here are so nice and shared their recommendations with me as well when picking up a large order of a few dozen for my team. inside is a decent size! don't recall if there's much seating to eat indoors so i can't comment on that, but there's a nice gallery to view donut options and the menus are clear and easy to read. overall: 10/10 taste: 10/10 price: 10/10 love this spot! wish i lived closer and woke up a bit earlier (on weekends) to catch their open-hours try the cruller puffs!! read more

They open early at 5:30am and tend to sell out if you arrive too late in the morning, so recommend coming as early as possible if you want the best selection. I think selling out speaks to the quality of the donuts here though. I love the donuts here because they're fluffy, not too sweet, large, fresh, and affordable. It's a Cambodian owned donut shop, a remnant of the Donut King legacy that is Ted Ngoy. The owner is friendly and prides herself on not making her donuts too sweet in comparison to other places. Sunrise Donuts is in the funny strip mall right where you get on 520W from W Lake Sammamish Parkway, convenient to downtown Redmond. I could see it being tricky to get in and out of the parking lot during morning commute, but I've only been there on the weekend when there's plenty of parking despite the constant flow of donut lovers in and out of the shop. They have a pretty typical selection of raised/cake/bar/filled donuts, not a wild amount because the shop isn't that big, but the star attraction, imo, is the cruller puffs. These seem to me like Hong Kong egg puffs (hard to find!), just with some glaze in addition to the usual powdered sugar. They look kind of like cream puff shells, and similarly have a big hollow inside, but they're softer and have an eggy flavor - you won't be able to eat just one! They also carry legit Vietnamese coffee! Like I said, the shop is small, but well organized. When you walk in, there's a bottle drinks cooler to the left, so people know to line up there. Then you choose your donuts, and the hot coffee station is past that. In the front corner, there are a few bar style seats. Service has been quick and friendly. Well, what's not to like about donuts, right? Well, they can be screwed up, but not at Sunrise Donuts. This is the epitome of an old school donut shop and they do donuts right. The blueberry fritter was just the right density and had small little blueberries and was just amazing. We got them for an event and they were well enjoyed. The remainder went to Redmond's hard-working police officers and while it might be a stereotype that cops like donuts, I'm sure that our officers really enjoyed the 4 dozen that we had leftover. Without a doubt, the best donuts anywhere in the greater area. The donuts are fresh, not too sweet, reasonably priced, and delicious. Their buttermilk bars are my favorite, along with fritters like the banana and blueberry. But honestly, everything is good. A work colleague brought in donuts from Sunrise for a rare in-person work event and everyone fell in love with them. The crazy thing is that she brought in just one donut type - the cruller puffs! They only serve them Thursday through Sunday, and some of the times there's a wait for them. I've even heard they sometimes sell out of them, so get there early and expect to wait in a line for your donuts. But they're well worth it! Wow these guys really are popular and I feel like they started running out of some selection at barely 10AM on a Sunday. Prices are decent enough, but the donuts are just average. The best are the regular glazed (super airy and light) and their variety of fritters. The Boston cream was overly sweet (like diabetic level) and the chocolate was almost artificial-like. Great donut spot! Fresh, soft, and delicious donuts! We got there at 9:45a and they still had a lot to choose from and it got extremely busy for a Saturday. We chose to eat our donuts at the counter (me, my bf, and three little girls) and a lot of the customers enjoyed seeing us chow down on the goodies in front of us. We stopped by right before they closed and got some of the following: Cherry fritter - not the best but the flavor was pretty good. Old fashioned - pretty standard, nothing spectacular Tiger tail - very light and fluffy, it's like a cinnamon roll but lighter and no frosting Maple buttermilk bar - super good! Get here early on the weekend if you want their famous cruller puffs! I mean it. I visited Sunrise Donuts & Espresso around 9:30ish on a Saturday morning and there was a line out the door. And there was a line behind me and a line when I left the shop. Located in Redmond, right off of 520, Sunrise is one of the shops in a small business strip. Parking was easy to find. The line went by fast; during this time of COVID-19, they are only allowing four people into the shop. I was unsure of what to get, but had read that the cruller puffs were what they were known for and they only make them on the weekends. By the time I got into the shop, they only had six cruller puffs left, so I bought all of them. (Sorry to the person behind me.) Cruller puffs are three for a dollar, so a great price. I also tried a chocolate nutter bar and a basic chocolate donut. If you pay with card and it's less than four bucks, they charge a small fee, so you may as well get another donut! In addition to donuts, they have a full coffee menu, including Vietnamese iced coffee. Staff was super friendly and welcomed everyone with a huge smile. No matter how busy the place got, they seemed to take everything in stride. I also saw that people were able to order ahead of time, so they were picking up their orders and were in and out quickly. The cruller puffs were my favorite of the bunch I got. They were super flaky, light and liked how I could taste the egg! They're definitely the item to get on the weekends here, and can see why the sell out. The nutter butter was A-OK. It had more of a cake-y texture, so was heavy. The chocolate donut was good though, as it was lighter and flaky. Stick with their basic donuts here. And the prices are so affordable! Glad to have checked out Sunrise, and count me in for another visit very soon. read more

I went on a Sunday morning right when it opened (6am). I wasn't too surprised to see several others waiting for it to open, since other reviews had mentioned a line. I was the 3rd in line but despite being early, I think there were already a handful of donuts that were already gone and I had overheard the worker essentially say that the donuts you see are the all donuts they have (don't quote me on that). Even right at opening, I would expect a line but as long as you get there a few min before, it should be fine. Their donuts were soft without being too overly sweet. I was up earlier than usual due to an 8am meeting so decided to finally try something from Sunrise Donuts. On a Thursday morning at like 9am, there wasn't a line. I got 3 crullers, a ham and cheese croissant, and a cinnamon crumb(?) twist. I started with the croissant and while I'm not going to think too much of a donut shop's croissants, this one was weirdly breadier feeling than I expected. Maybe I've been buying too many nice croissants but this wasn't a must buy. The crullers were bomb. They're so light and airy with a light glaze. If they're available, they're a must get. You can't help but eat them quickly. Compared to the cruellers, the twist wasn't nearly as outstanding. There wasn't anything wrong with it just wasn't as sweet as I expected. It was probably due to having it after the crullers. I might not get this particular twist again but I'd def come back to try a different donut. read more

My boyfriend works near Sunrise and has been raving about the donuts here for YEARS. Redmond is pretty out of the way for me so it wasn't until recently that I finally tried this place out for myself. We got up early on a Sunday morning and planned a day date just for Sunrise and it was 100% worth it! Sunrise may not look like much on the outside but one should never judge a donuterie by its storefront. It's located in a small business building right off the road, almost easy to miss. There's a lot of parking outside and not a lot of seating inside, which seems to work since most customers get their orders to-go. The store interior is very no-nonsense and not flashy at all, because who needs any of that when you have good donuts anyway? You absolutely have to order some cruller puffs, which are only available Thursday through Sunday. We got three for $1 and I probably could've eaten 12 by myself because these things are AMAZING. It has a dainty, airy, and melts in your mouth kind of texture that I've never encountered before. Truly an enlightening experience. Cruller puffs aside, we also ordered a maple bacon bar and a cherry fritter: the bar was perfectly soft with a well-balanced maple frosting & the fritter was deliciously tart, fragrant, and far from greasy. It's worth noting that, even with a ton of donut variety, some started selling out as early as 9:30am and almost everything was gone by noon when we visited. Go early if you want your pick because Sunrise's loyal band of customers don't play around-- we overheard several of them talk to the staff about dropping in first thing in the morning on consecutive days just to acquire their favorite donut. Their apple and blueberry fritter were light and airy too with good amounts of fruit. The cake donut had a generous amount of maple glaze and was also delicious. We tried this place for the first time over the weekend. The employees were very helpful and patient while we pick out our donuts. Everything looked yummy. We ordered the crueler bites which were amazing. We also tried tiger tales, bacon maple bars , and banana and apple fritters. We enjoyed all of them. My only issue is the banana fritter was raw in the middle. They made an off menu latte for me and it was delicious! We will definitely be back soon! read more

The blueberry fritter is one of the best donuts I've ever eaten. Absolutely addictive. The blueberry makes it even better and lends a wonderful, subtle flavor to the perfectly fried, fluffy and crispy fritter. The maple bacon bar is wonderfully executed as well.
