I wasn't surprised at their bagels. Perhaps I am more into Blazing Bagels? I still miss those times when you get to build your own. I was craving one wiyh salmon so I stopped by. Parking took a while!! Driving and driving around was no fun. You have to go around when getting in with a stroller which was my case. It was a quick order. Plenty of short tables. I know aesthetics are important now a days but I still believe things should be functional. Other tables were to tall to watch the stroller. Bagels was just fine. I felt I could find one of these at Starbucks or the grocery store for a better price. I won't be coming back soon. read more

Finally got my bagels. Quick and fast service. In and out in 3min. They have unique selection on bagels and seasonal ones and the schmear too. I got the 6 bagels deal: Shallot Cacio e pepe Jalapeno cheddar Everything Salted rosemary Seasonal: strawberry crunch. Was looking forward their chocolate cherry, but they ran out. The service was quite good and our waiter was polite, friendly and gave us good tips on our menu choices. The location is great and the ambience was quite good. The various pastas we ordered were average. I was really looking forward to dining here, but it was a bit of let down. While the portion sizes were generous, the dishes had a flavor of being pre-made and assembled together, almost in a fast-food kind of way, lacking an exquisite made to order and plated kind of feeling. As our waiter was great, I am fine with the 20% service charge added (and called out in large font on the bill) and the restaurant being upfront about it. But, it does seem like the management decided to pass this on to the customer to offset their cost increase due to the minimum wage going up to $20 per hour. It would be more reasonable to make that 15% and the restaurant adjust for their increased labor costs. read more

I had such a wonderful experience dining here! It's not always easy to find great Italian food with gluten-free options, but this restaurant really delivered. I have been here at least 32 times and every time I come here the service is really good and I came here on Saturday and I got a bagel sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and it was so delicious at the nice kick very toasty And it was done quickly and it's very spacious. This is a very delicious and hip restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, giving honest answers about their favorite dishes. You can tell they are excited about the food in this restaurant. Everything we ordered was immaculate and perfectly plated. The mocktail I ordered was divine and they had N/A beer. We ordered the smoked fish on toast, the beef Carpacio Salad with anchovy aoli, the Beet salad with whole walnuts and a whole side of the bowl smeared with a very sufficient amount of whipped ricotta and the perfect spicy sausage rogatoni. We finished with a nice strong espresso and the best homemade tiramisu I have ever had. All along with a very clean, modern atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating, in addition to a rentable private dining room. This place greatly exceeded our expectations. Late post -- Went here for Seattle Restaurant Week in late April. Glad we made reservations, the place was pretty busy considering it was early in the evening. There's the bar, lounge, dining area. There are a couple of garage doors that I imagine open up during the summer. Got seated overlooking the open kitchen. Too bad the counter is high so we didn't see them in action. Noticed that wait staff was quick to pick up orders that were ready and that there were no heat lamps (so you know you're food isn't sitting too long). The Seattle Restaurant Week Menu - 3 course meal for $50 Our first course choices were: - Grilled Octopus - Cannellini Beans, N'Duja, Calabrian Chili, Salsa Verde - this dish was delicious. Octopus was tender and the beans had a nice heat to it. I just wished the ratio of Octopus to beans was better (had a lot of beans and not enough Octopus). - Beef Tartare - Dijon, Caper, Cornichon, Quail Egg, Sunchoke - another delicious dish! Beef tartare was tasty. Our second course choices were: - Potato Gnocchi - Snails, Garlic, Parsley, Butter - I wanted to try this dish because of the snails. Heavy dish but it was good. Just like escargot, it was swimming in butter. Delicious dish but I can only eat so much of it because of the richness. - Pappardelle - Beef & Pork Ragu, Tomato, Mint, Chili, Orange, Grana Padano - Although both dishes were really good, I liked this one just a tad better. Still waiting to be impressed by Tavolata.. I've tried the Cap Hill location before and wasn't a huge fan (mid tasting pasta for a premium price), and it's pretty much the same deal here in the new Redmond location. Tavolata Redmond is located underneath an apartment complex in downtown Redmond across from the park. Parking is a bit tricky with no dedicated lot, have to hope to find street parking nearby or walk from one of the parking lots. I got the pappardelle pasta, and it was alright - decent taste and portion, but at $30 I just expected something more. Service left a lot to be desired, it took a good 10 minutes for someone to come and offer us water after we got seated and check if we were ready to order. They also have an automatic gratuity of 22% regardless of party size - wish there was better service given this :/ read more

Tavolata, which means Table in Italian, is an exercise in pasta knowledge. Honestly, it's all about knowing which pastas you like. I ordered Tonnarelli because I wanted a Cascio e Pepe. Unfortunately, it turned out that I'm not a Tonnarelli fan. My friend got the Papardelle with Beef Cheek Ragu which was wonderfully delicious. Spicy but not too spicy, meaty and most reminiscent of elevated, way elevated SpaghettiOs. You'll be in your comfort zone. I'm interested to go back to ask if they'll pair my favorite pasta with my favorite sauce. For example, pappardelle with casca e pepe. Wasn't a fan of the focaccia. I think focaccia as smooth like pillows and this is more textured like sourdough. It's just a texture thing. Ambiance is nice. We sat next to the special events room and they should have closed the door because the party was very loud. But all in all, it was a vibrant, happening dining room with other large and small parties enjoying their meals. I'd go back again. There is a 22% service charge, which they warn you about and some think it's tad excessive. I'd be happier with 18% and better service. Once the place got busy, we didn't get too much attention and had to flag people down. Word to the wise, if you're going to charge 22% service charge, you should really give stellar service to every table. Tavolata has a cool space and an exciting menu, but the service isn't really up to par. I made reservations in the lounge, which was totally the right call. We loved sitting down on the couches and it had a really good vibe! The staff also singed a birthday card since I mentioned there was a birthday on the restriction. Such a nice touch! It took 25 minutes before anyone got our drink order. We continually made eye contact with our server and tried to wave him over but it didn't work. By the time he finally came over, he seemed confused why we wanted him. The service was really slow, inattentive, and cold all night. At the end, we found out that Tavolata includes a 22% gratuity no matter what, which made a lot of sense. The staff clearly wasn't working for tips. Our drinks were a mixed bag. I loved my white sands mocktail! So many cool non alcoholic options. The martini was all vodka, so we had to request olive juice on the side. The food was decent. They have one style of gluten free pasta which was a pretty standard option. I liked my gluten free pasta, but it didn't have much shrimp on it. I found the prices to be high for the quality, but we went for BOGO pasta Monday so there weren't many complaints. I loved the birthday card, but thought for sure there would be a birthday dessert and was let down. Our waiter was super lazy, so it wouldn't surprise me if he just forgot. I would go again in a few months since I think this spot has a lot of potential. This place has been on my list and so when the opportunity came, I decided to check it out. They are doing a promotion right now where you buy a bagel sandwich or a bagel you get the second one free of equal or lesser value. The place is nice and parking was pretty easy even though it was street Parking. People are pretty nice and the place is clean. I ended up getting the pastrami sandwich on a garlic bagel and a double down (lox) on an everything bagel as well as a cacio and pepe bagel and a chocolate and cherry bagel. The two sandwiches were ok, on the saltier side in my opinion. It was pretty standard. The bagel was also on the chewier side as well. We got six bagels a few weeks ago. I love me a tasty fresh bagel...the exterior of their bagels is pretty crunchy which isn't my favorite. The insides are fresh but I'm just a more gooey bagel type of person. Probably my favorite was their cinnamon raisin one bc it had the most freshness and gooey texture to the outside. To start off, a 22% service charge is a bit unexpected. The service far from warranted this level of charge as we waited almost 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our presence. We loved the interiors, they have a main dining area, and a bar/lounge area that would be great for happy hours. We started with Burrata and Roasted Beets. I absolutely loved the Burrata, the Roasted Beets were good. We then got Paccheri, and Rainbow Trout. We loved both the pasta and the entree. The prawn in the Paccheri was chopped up making it easy to eat with the pasta. For dessert, we got Lemon Zeppole, and Chocolate Gelato. We loved them both. The Lemon Zeppole was light and the chocolate sauce that it came with amazing. The gelato was good, the shortbread cookie it came with was amazing. In Washington, the season for outdoor dining is fairly short-lived. During one of the final sunny warm weekends, four of us came to Tavolata to enjoy a meal out on their patio. We arrived shortly after 4:00PM for Happy Hour (HH) which goes from 4:00-6:00 PM. The HH menu features several appetizers, a few pasta dishes, drinks and one dessert. Despite the prices of the HH pastas being around $9 - $11 cheaper, our waiter confirmed that there is no change to the portion sizes... so it definitely pays off to go earlier! We shared three appetizers and each ordered a pasta. With the exception of the clams, everything else is from the HH menu. + MANILA CLAMS ($19): This was a pretty good starter as it contained lots of clams in a fragrant green broth consisting of fennel, basil and butter. The menu stated it also had green chili... I didn't taste any of that and it wasn't spicy, but I did detect some dill and light flavor of wine. Many of the shells were empty, but I found lots of loose clams at the bottom of the bowl. While we liked the dish overall, the broth was very salty for our taste. + TAVOLATA SALAD ($13 HH): I loved this salad and it can easily be split between two people! The greens were so crisp and the tomatoes, cucumber and red onion were also fresh. The salad came covered in cheese and whole pistachios added some nice crunch. The Calabrian chili dressing was delicious and had a perfect heat. I would buy the dressing by the bottle if I could! + SALUMI BOARD ($8 HH + $7 for Torta Frita): This was the only item I was pretty bummed about. It had five thin slices of salami and just three slivers of cheese. That by itself was $8, but we decided to add on the Torta Frita (fried bread) for $7. The bread was delicious, hot and crusted with some salt, reminding me of a salty donut. They gave us seven pieces, so each one was a $1 each, and they were tiny! Given the steep price, it wasn't worth the value. + RIGATONI ($16 HH): The pasta was cooked al dente and the tomato sauce tasted homemade with just the right amount of acidity, but I again found this dish on the saltier side. The menu stated it included spicy sausage, but the sauce actually seemed to hold all the heat. Surprisingly, this contained a generous portion of sausage. They were non-uniform meaty chunks that appeared to be made in-house. I wouldn't buy this at the normal cost of $27, but it was pretty for the HH price. The service was very good and the staff checked on us a few times. Our shareable plates arrived in a timely manner and once we finished, our pasta entrees followed shortly after. I loved sitting out on their patio which is pretty extensive, and they also opened up the walls of the restaurant to offer open air seating inside. I'm assuming they'll switch to fully indoor seating during the colder months. We had a nice experience here overall and I'd gladly return for another meal during Happy Hour. read more

We went for happy hour and was seated pretty promptly without a reservation, although the server informed us that the table had a reservation on it at 7:30 so as long as we didn't stay until then (we arrived at about 5:45) that we could be seated there. We ordered a meatball small plate and the waitress recommended pairing it with the focaccia since it was "to die for" and she recommended soaking the sauce on the meatballs with the bread, so we obliged and also ordered the focaccia and also a Bear Creek Buck cocktail. The focaccia and cocktail arrived first. The focaccia was pretty crispy but could have been cut more since it was kind of difficult to split apart. Also, it was on the more oily side. Funny thing was, the meatballs took so long to arrive that we would have finished the focaccia already but we decided to wait. The cheese and sauce helped balance out the meatballs. But the meatballs themselves were rather salty and the portion could have been larger. The pasta took awhile to come and the only update we got from the server was that the pasta was coming but that she heard it was dropped or something ‍ The pasta was way too salty. The rigatoni was al denté but the sauce was overly salty and there was a peculiar taste on the sausage that made me feel like I was tasting perfume or something. It fell pretty short. The cocktail tasted like a margarita or something, we couldn't taste the passion fruit nor the ginger that the menu had described. Overall, we had higher hopes for Tavolata's happy hour since we had previously come for the 2 pastas and a bottle of wine special. We're not sure we would go back again, especially with the slower service, salty foods, and mandatory 20% service charge. read more

Pretty miserable experience: my family waited 20 mins for table and another hour for the food. Pure disappointment.

We loved finding Tavolata already open and opted to celebrate my birthday. Reservation was easy, we asked to sit outside on a perfect evening and they cleaned a table and seated us quickly. They gave me a card signed by the staff as soon as we sat down. I wasn't going to eat the focaccia but it smelled so irresistible--it was divine! The chickpeas made me enjoy celery and raisins, both items I'm not generally looking to eat. The chickpeas were def toothy. I had the ravioli and my honey got the bolognese. Great flavors, very unique for the bolognese (orange?!). They brought a candlelit bowl of chocolate gelato with a shortbread cookie, a creamy compliment to a lovely meal. I'm hoping this is just a one-time incident in dealing with rude staff and bagels that are not ready when the shop opens. I visited Rubenstein Bagels to pick up a bagel sandwich to eat for later as I was going to work out nearby, and it was not at all the same Rubenstein Bagels as the one in South Lake Union. I was happy to learn that Rubenstein Bagels opened a location on the Eastside as I've eaten at its South Lake Union location and the turkey sandwich was bomb. Hoping to get another turkey sandwich for later, I visited Rubenstein Bagels right at 7am when it supposedly opened, and it was not open. I waited for about five minutes until one of the employees saw me outside the entrance and it wasn't as if she quickly came to the door to let me in. She literally saw me then started saying something to the other employee, then walked to a different area of the shop, still talking to the employee, and then came to the door. Okay... And when she opened the door to let me in, there was no greeting. She literally just opened the door for me without a word. Then when I walked to the counter to place an order and the other employee just looked at me because a greeting would be too much to ask for. Whatever. So I started talking by asking if they would be able to make a turkey sandwich for me even though it was breakfast time. She said yes. Then as I was placing an order, that's when she said that they're still waiting for the bagels to arrive and it'll be about 10 minutes. Okay... So me and two other customers just waited until the bagels came. Another employee came to the counter to take my order as the bagels started to arrive, and I will say, he was definitely much friendlier than the other two employees there. I ordered the turkey sandwich on the jalapeno cheddar bagel. Minutes later, I found out that the jalapeno cheddar is not yet available as it's still baking. At this time, I needed to get to my workout class, so told the employee that I'll just switch up my order for a bagel that's already there - the chocolate cherry with goat cheese and the employee kindly offered to refund me and not charge for the chocolate cherry bagel. Without him, I would've given this place one star. Not the best first impression/visit here to this Redmond location. I have to say, I'm not itching to go back, especially when I can have a much more pleasant experience at Blazing Bagels, which is usually where I get bagels on the Eastside. And quite honestly, it looks like I'll continue doing so. read more

Wines were delicious and waiter Sam D was above and beyond good customer service. He recommended wines that paired well and was a friendly face I would want to return and see. Where I think they can improve: updating the online menu. (Was looking forward to something listed, however was informed it was only seasonal.) Tip: happy hour is EVERYDAY 4-6! I've gone to this Tavolata location several times now, and it's always been a proper experience. Great atmosphere, service, and food across the board. My buddy and I went this evening and I couldn't have asked for a better dinner service. The lamb gnocchi is AMAZING, the focaccia was tasty, and I could probably eat 10 carpaccios by myself. I didn't realize they had plain bagel with salt. I had to reorder because chocolate cherry was not a great choice for a two year old. Overall it was okay. The place was clean.
