Story Coffee in Bellevue looks the part, modern, aesthetic, and very much that stereotypical "cool coffee spot." The decor is nice, but parking can be a bit of a pain. I got the honeycomb latte and my friend got the black sesame latte. Both were just okay. The coffee leans pretty bitter, and honestly, it feels like one of those places where people equate burnt or strong flavors with "good" coffee. I was a little surprised by all the hype. It's also on the pricier side, and while the service was fine, the baristas came off a bit stuck up. Overall, it's a spot if you want the vibe and aesthetic, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to. read more

There's ample seating and parking validation for the parking garage. I got a strawberry matcha latte & pinwheel pastry, $15 total. The pinwheel was crunchy on the outside and more soft in the center, with the right amount of sweetness. There are plenty of tables and seating, but only one aesthetic area. Unfortunately, it was taken the entire time I was there by a film crew recording what looked like an interview. I appreciated that parking was easy and that they validate. read more

Story Coffee is one of my favorite coffee houses on the East Side. It's conveniently located in downtown Bellevue, across from the Bravern. The menu has some interesting options that are more fusion as well as pour overs. But I usually stick to my usual, a cortado, and enjoy the version here (see pic). There are some pastries as well, which I haven't tried yet. The place is usually busy, but I find it quiet and relaxing and a good place to chat or do some work. Service has been pleasant and quick and I find myself coming back whenever I'm in the area. read more

A nice coffee shop in Bellevue with free parking in the garage with validation! The atmosphere was warm and inviting with cozy seats and plenty of space for working. Staff was friendly and answered all our questions. Prices are higher compared to the previous coffee was in this location as the sesame latte cold foam was $7.5 before tax. We were visiting the Seattle area and this was some of the best espresso we had during the trip. This place is tucked away near some office buildings and was pretty quiet on a Sunday morning. The sausage bagel sandwich I ordered was good however the strawberry matcha I ordered tasted very milky. The prices here are a little high.The space is on the small side and a bit dim. Stopped by for a matcha latte. I ordered and was pleasantly surprised by all the milk/milk alternative ans syrup options you had! They even asked if you wanted more/less ice. I ordered mine with soy milk and less sweet, and it was good. I just wish I could taste the matcha a bit more, but i think it may have been my choice of milk. The space itself was open, quiet, and would be a good place to get work done. Parking is also validated which is a plus! read more

Nice coffee shop nestled just off 405, across from the Bravern in Bellevue. The shop is cute and the service was efficient and friendly. Lots of unique specialty drink options that I'm interested in trying again. Today's choice was their chai latte, which was amazingly delicious. It was so good, I had one with soy and went back for a second with almond milk. (I preferred the soy as it creamier and hotter.) The chai had a nice kick to it, so yummy on a winter day. Bathrooms are convenient and clean. You bus your own table here, the drop zone is clean and frequently cleared. Very tidy. The cons: wish there were more couches and comfort seating. Parking can be confusing- park in the Alley garage where there's a 3 hour validation. Since our coffee date went long, I ended up paying $16 for parking which was disappointing. Spots are small so bring the compact car for ease of navigation. For your furry companions, dogs are allowed in the cafe. Due to location, I'm not sure I'd find myself here again as it's more convenient to those who live or work nearby. However, I like the uniqueness and prefer this to the big box stores any day. read more

Since my hotel was near here, I visited this cafe 4 times during my stay. There's plenty of seating but on weekends, it may be hard to find a seat. They have wifi so it's a nice place to get a drink and work. I tried the following drinks: - Toffee Honeycomb Latte (4.5/5): Not only is this aesthetic but also is quite good! You have to give it some time for the honeycomb to melt into the latte; otherwise, the latte is unsweetened. You can also eat the honeycomb although it's a bit hard to do when it's in the drink. - Turtle Latte (4.5/5) : With elements of toffee, caramel, and chocolate, this drink tasted great! It reminded me of a mocha because of the chocolate but still had a strong coffee flavor. - Matcha Latte (4/5): Solid matcha latte! When I ordered, the employee asked if I wanted to add sweetener, to which I said no. If you don't add sweetener, it is more on the bitter side since it's just pure matcha and milk, but the matcha flavor is good. - Peppermint Mocha (1/5): Would not order this again. Barely tasted like a mocha and barely had peppermint flavor. Was quite disappointing. I also tried the Orange Hazelnut Pinwheel pastry. They toasted it for me. It was a bit too sweet and didn't really taste like orange. Overall, they have decent coffee/matcha but they are a bit pricey. Helpful and friendly staff:), I got the honey lavender vanilla latte, very good, just lightly sweetened with a warm chocolate croissant that was to die for; while the chill weather lingered outside , we were cozy and happy in this hip sleek coffee shop. Went on a Sat morning and it was pretty empty. A matcha latte and croissant cost too much and it wasn't exceptional. Unfortunately, this is the way things are going in most parts of Bellevue so it's not totally surprising. Have you ever have a sandwich so good that it's literally engrained in your brain? Well their chipotle chicken panini is literally that. Perfect spicy, creamy, bready combination. I street parked on the west side of the building, requiring a slight climb up the hill back to my car. It was free though, so no complaints! I would return to "work from home" or if I was in the area and looking for a cute bite. In total I paid $36, not including tip.

My quick tip is if you see a large line in the mall, just order online and swing by 10 - 15 minutes. If you're not sure what to order, grab an oolong or black tea with cream. If you're looking for something without caffeine, the Organic Milk w/ Taro Ball and Paste is absolutely delicious with earthy taro flavor and the toppings were still warm with the cold milk. Seasonal Pineapple Snowy is also literally a Taiwanese pineapple cake in drink form. How did they get crunchies into the drink? Honestly, you can't really go wrong here and when I am craving boba, this is just ol' reliable.

There are 3 cafes I go to on the regular for my hojicha fix: Magic Matcha, Tendon Kohaku, and Bobae in Kirkland. While I enjoy all three, Magic Matcha is my favorite. The roasted tea flavor is strong, they allow me to adjust the sweetness level, and the flavor of the drink is always consistent. I've had issues with Tendon and Bobae either changing up the brand or the roast or adding too much milk on any given day. One of my gfs loves their horchata hojicha so there's that. I tasted it and it was objectively good. I wouldn't get it only because I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon, but if I were, it would be another go-to drink.

To expand on my matcha critique, I found the color to be a little on the green-yellow side, which isn't the end all- be all quality indicator for matcha, but I find matcha lattes that are more rich in color tend to taste better and this tasted like a matcha drink I could make with costco matcha. I've made some decent lattes with costco matcha but once I switched to the more higher quality ones, well, it sorta refined my tastes. There isn't a lot of parking, and to be fair, a lot of people who are in downtown Bellevue are parked elsewhere else and likely just meander their way to the cafe. However, if you're coming in by car, I'd suggest parking by the apartments nearby, DO NOT park at the Chase Bank lot, even if the bank itself is closed (learned my lesson...). Overall, a 3.7-3.9. Could be better. Maybe with other additives like cold foam or strawberries, the drink is better, but I'm judging based off the basic latte.
