Story Coffee in Bellevue looks the part, modern, aesthetic, and very much that stereotypical "cool coffee spot." The decor is nice, but parking can be a bit of a pain. I got the honeycomb latte and my friend got the black sesame latte. Both were just okay. The coffee leans pretty bitter, and honestly, it feels like one of those places where people equate burnt or strong flavors with "good" coffee. I was a little surprised by all the hype. It's also on the pricier side, and while the service was fine, the baristas came off a bit stuck up. Overall, it's a spot if you want the vibe and aesthetic, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to.

=== Overall === Very nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee and catch up with a friend. Validated parking at a nearby garage. === Food === I had this on my list to go to for a long time and heard there was an award winning barista here. I wanted to get the honeycomb latte but when ordering on the kiosk, I couldn't find it. I saw it afterwards on the menu when you order at the counter. I don't think my friend and I got the award winning barista - our lattes were pretty bubbly & the art was just OK. At $10 a cup, I expected a little more. The Maple Oat Latte was a standout with good flavors and the lowest amount of sweetness was perfect. === Service === Friendly and fast service. Several baristas working behind the counter. === Ambiance === Pretty large place with plenty of seating and cool things for sale. Would be a good place to catch up with friends or do work at - it's on the quieter side. A little dark though on a cloudy day. Appreciated the validated parking.

There's ample seating and parking validation for the parking garage. I got a strawberry matcha latte & pinwheel pastry, $15 total. The pinwheel was crunchy on the outside and more soft in the center, with the right amount of sweetness. There are plenty of tables and seating, but only one aesthetic area. Unfortunately, it was taken the entire time I was there by a film crew recording what looked like an interview. I appreciated that parking was easy and that they validate.

This little coffee shop was amazing! The staff were very friendly and the drinks were delicious! The drink was not only super cute but tasty! It didn't take too long to get my drink at all from the time of ordering it and the cafe itself is very nice and quiet.

Cute and bright cafe that invites you to stay and lounge or work. I got the matcha latte, which was kind mild in flavor and a bit grainy.

Lovely latte art and vibe, good for working

Story Coffee is one of my favorite coffee houses on the East Side. It's conveniently located in downtown Bellevue, across from the Bravern. The menu has some interesting options that are more fusion as well as pour overs. But I usually stick to my usual, a cortado, and enjoy the version here (see pic). There are some pastries as well, which I haven't tried yet. The place is usually busy, but I find it quiet and relaxing and a good place to chat or do some work. Service has been pleasant and quick and I find myself coming back whenever I'm in the area.

A nice coffee shop in Bellevue with free parking in the garage with validation! The atmosphere was warm and inviting with cozy seats and plenty of space for working. Staff was friendly and answered all our questions. Prices are higher compared to the previous coffee was in this location as the sesame latte cold foam was $7.5 before tax. Definitely a weekend treat any a coffee shop I visit often.

We were visiting the Seattle area and this was some of the best espresso we had during the trip. This place is tucked away near some office buildings and was pretty quiet on a Sunday morning. Very nice ambiance inside with a lot of seating. Excellent espresso and tons of pour over options. Would definitely come back

I was afraid that the thai tea would be sweetened already and the soft serve would only overly sweeten it but if anything, letting the soft serve melt into the thai tea was what gave the drink it's sweetness (along with the marshmallow-like foam). It was so GOOD! I thoroughly enjoyed this drink, especially on those rare warm sunny days we get here in Western Washington. Dare I say that I dream about this float! The self-serve kiosks made ordering seamless with detailed descriptions of menu items. The servers were pleasant and friendly, immediately welcoming us into the storefront. You order your drink at the indoor kiosk and the service is pretty quick.

I was in the area for a doctor's appointment and needed a quick coffee fix. When a spot popped up…read moreon Yelp with some great photos, I figured I'd give it a try. Parking ended up being a bit of a walk, which had me second-guessing the decision at first--but I'm glad I stuck with it. The moment I walked in, the space felt thoughtfully designed. The flow of the café is one of the best I've experienced--open, comfortable, and easy to navigate. As soon as the door opened, the barista greeted me right away. The counter is positioned close enough that you don't feel awkward hovering like in some cafés where the bar feels miles away. It immediately felt welcoming. I visited on a weekend during a slower period, but since the café sits right next to a college, I can imagine the line spilling out the door during peak hours. At quieter times though, the layout works well--there's enough space for a couple people to wait without crowding the entrance. I ordered a cortado and an almond croissant. The croissant came warmed, and the texture was spot on: fluffy, layered, and not overly greasy. The almond filling had a really nice balance--nutty with just enough sweetness and a hint of salt to round it out. I was told the pastries are made in-house, and it definitely shows. It tasted like something made with care. The cortado itself was solid--pretty classic, nothing overly fancy. One thoughtful touch I appreciated was that it came with sparkling water, which was great for cleansing the palate. The space itself is fairly spacious and works well if you want a quiet moment to sip your coffee. That said, most of the seating is high stools, so it doesn't really feel like the type of place to settle in and study for hours. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and quality of the food. The one thing that caught me off guard was the price of the croissant at $6.50. It tasted great and I understand prices in this area tend to run higher, especially for house-made pastries--but it's a bit outside what I'd usually spend. So while I definitely think it's good, it might not become a regular stop for me simply due to location and budget. Still, a great find and a pleasant surprise during a routine coffee run. There are 3 cafes I go to on the regular for my hojicha fix: Magic Matcha, Tendon Kohaku, and Bobae in Kirkland. While I enjoy all three, Magic Matcha is my favorite. The roasted tea flavor is strong, they allow me to adjust the sweetness level, and the flavor of the drink is always consistent. I've had issues with Tendon and Bobae either changing up the brand or the roast or adding too much milk on any given day. One of my gfs loves their horchata hojicha so there's that. I tasted it and it was objectively good. I wouldn't get it only because I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon, but if I were, it would be another go-to drink.

Realistically, my review is a high 3 stars, like a 3.7-3.9, and is mostly weighed down by the fact…read morethat the matcha latte was meh. Not awful, not I'll-never-drink-again-bad, but meh. I've been here twice, once a few years ago with my cousins, and another three days ago. The people working were attentive and quick with their service. The ambiance of the place is cute, a lot of pink and green, very instagram-worthy, and I saw a few people with friends or working on their laptop so it seems like a great place vibe-wise. To expand on my matcha critique, I found the color to be a little on the green-yellow side, which isn't the end all- be all quality indicator for matcha, but I find matcha lattes that are more rich in color tend to taste better and this tasted like a matcha drink I could make with costco matcha. I've made some decent lattes with costco matcha but once I switched to the more higher quality ones, well, it sorta refined my tastes. There isn't a lot of parking, and to be fair, a lot of people who are in downtown Bellevue are parked elsewhere else and likely just meander their way to the cafe. However, if you're coming in by car, I'd suggest parking by the apartments nearby, DO NOT park at the Chase Bank lot, even if the bank itself is closed (learned my lesson...). Overall, a 3.7-3.9. Could be better. Maybe with other additives like cold foam or strawberries, the drink is better, but I'm judging based off the basic latte.
