4.5 stars! There is something for everyone here! My partner and I wanted to get a sweet treat after a movie and this was one of the few places open late. We are both a fan of ice cream so we were excited to find this place. The menu is pretty simple which makes ordering simple too. There are several ways to get your soft serve but we decided to get the soft serve with the upside down taiyaki which was so good! You can choose your soft serve with just one flavor but they offer a mix too. You can also choose what filling the taiyaki has. I chose the strawberry and matcha mix soft serve and then I chose a matcha cream filling. You are also able to add toppings after and I went with a Biscoff topping. The soft serve was not overly sweet and the flavors blended super well. The taiyaki was also nice and crisp and the cream filling was perfect. Overall, one of my favorite desserts I have had in a while. The service was also super fast and super friendly. There were not any seats inside so it makes it hard to eat there but we just enjoyed the ice cream in the car. I am excited to return soon! read more

This was a fun desert stop after dinner. I had not had these before but it was certainly fun and delicious. I ordered the upside down and glad I did. After watching others try to eat, rather fast I might add, the ice cream on top was entertaining. The quality of the ice cream, custard filling, and Ah-Boong was good. They make them to order, which makes them fresh and hot! Love the different flavors. I wish they had a place to sit and enjoy the ice cream, but otherwise a fun visit. read more

SomiSomi is in a simple, easy-to-access location, which makes it convenient to stop by. The overall atmosphere felt a bit underwhelming. The store was very quiet, and the cleanliness could have been better. The service was okay but nothing particularly memorable. The staff wasn't rude, but a friendlier and more welcoming attitude would have improved the visit. On the positive side, the product itself was solid. The ice cream and taiyaki tasted good and were comparable in flavor and quality to other SomiSomi locations I've visited. I really enjoy all the fun flavors that they have. You can sometimes have mix flavors or just a single flavor. The taiyaki is a nice add on to your ice cream if you want something warm and crispy with it. read more

Bellevue has so many dessert options and ice cream + taiyaki is just what I'm in a mood for today! This place can get busy and they only have one ordering station with a touchscreen so be prepared to wait during peak times. There is no place to sit but some spots to stand in front of a counter like table. I ordered the Ube + Matcha swirl ice cream with upside down taiyaki with sesame filling. This is one order but I want to rate them separately since it's such a difference in taste experience. Taiyaki + Sesame filling (5/5) Fantastic light crunch and amazing sesame flavor. This was a delight to eat and wonderfully fried. It was not too oily and the sesame filling was not overly sweet. I'd come back again and again just to eat this! Ube / Matcha swirl ice cream (2/5) There was almost no matcha taste at all. In fact, you'd have to close your eyes and try really hard to extract maybe possibly a hint of it? The ube faired a bit better but the same lacking in flavor. The ice cream as a whole tasted a bit too sweet and artificial and lacked any flavor to it and I believe it's because it's just mostly milk. I inhaled the taiyaki but I only at half of the ice cream. If I'm in the mood for it again, I'll come back and give other flavors a chance. Or if they permit, I'll just order only a sesame taiyaki because it's so good. read more

I always stop by this spot when I'm in Bellevue because it is truly that amazing! The icecream is incredibly creamy, has the perfect amount of sweetness, and the options for toppings and swirls of different flavors make it the best sweet treat. They also have rotation flavors, so there are frequently new options to try. It's also very fairly priced in comparison to other icecream places nowadays! This was such an amazing experience! I loved the various choices and the rotating flavors. I got the strawberry matcha soft serve and it was so smooth! I loved the combo of the waffle on top and the choices for fillings. I do wish there were more size options because the portion was massive and I couldn't finish. I came on a Friday night with my daughter to do a daddy-daughter date. Unfortunately one of the machines couldn't do the mix, but the service was great. I really enjoyed the macron that they added to the ice cream. It felt a touch pricy, but in reality, I'm just out of touch with inflation. The product is great. My kids had cookies and cream, strawberry and I had a twist of matcha and Ube. Waffles made to order so they're super fresh. It was understaffed when we went. Only one worker and a constant line so be patient. No seating inside which makes it tricky. There is a bar height counter but that's not very kid friendly. It would be nice to add some seating for people to enjoy their ice cream in the store. There's no seating or benches in the vicinity. read more

First time trying taiyaki with soft serve. Order at the kiosk but staff was friendly and greeted us right away. Lots of options for flavors and toppings. We store is very clean and has a long counter to enjoy your treats inside. The strawberry was light and delicious. I liked that it wasn't dyed red but was natural strawberry color. Came on a Thursday night and was quite disappointed to find out they only had two flavors on the menu (cookies and cream + strawberry) since all the others sold out. Tried the cookies and cream flavor and it was alright - it wasn't very cookie flavor heavy, which is what I was expecting. I'd just go get a McFlurry to satisfy the craving next time. They do offer free toppings and a free macaron shell which is nice though. Ordering is self serve and the place is pretty small with a standing bar height table. As for parking, there's tons since it's in a plaza shared with other businesses. Overall, I'd come again if in the area but definitely wouldn't drive far only to get this. read more

SomiSomi is delicious dessert spot in Bellevue. It's in a strip mall with plenty of Asian restaurants nearby, so it would be great to pair with a sit down dinner. There's ample parking available too! No real seating inside, but there's a standing table you can use to wait or eat at. It can get crowded after the dinner rush. My favorite is their ube soft serve, but they have plenty of other flavors (some seasonal). We had Somi Somi in Sacramento before and we loved it. I am happy it came to Bellevue. I had the green tea and ube swirl and my family had the upside down fish with peach ice cream. The portion is good and we can add toppings too at the end. It's perfect dessert on a hot summer day. The only thing is that there was only one staff that has to ring up ppl and also make the dessert so it takes a bit longer. read more

Came to try the new banana pudding soft serve on opening day! Super yummy and really happy that I got to try it tonight. BIG shout-out to Timothy who worked all by themselves. He was super kind and accommodating even though there was a very long queue. The owner/manager dropped the ball and really should take care of their employees better. This place is okay. The space is open, but mainly for standing, and modern. It's a bit of a mess, and they don't seem to be very good at picking up after themselves or keeping up on cleaning, restocking, and maintenance. They were out of napkins out front and toilet paper in the bathroom when I was there. They did restock the napkins when I told them, but a customer shouldn't have to tell them that. Cute and fun place to grab dessert with friends anytime! Especially nice in the summertime when you can stand outside and enjoy it in the evenings. From my experience at this particular location, anticipate a 5-10 minute wait as large groups like to go after dinner. The most recent time I went they appeared understaffed as well or at least unprepared for the amount of visitors that night. Been a while since we last visited but what intrigued me was a new flavor that I just had try, horchata, and glad we we stopped by. It had a nice creamy texture with a slight hint of cinnamon and not overly sweet which is why I love all their favorites including ube. The service was good and overall the place is very clean and no frills just a stand up counter. Will def need to come back more often! read more

There are several posts about how short staffed this place is going several months back and I guess today was no exception when I went. There was one employee and at least 20 people in the store waiting. Yes the dessert was good but I just felt so sorry for the poor guy who looked really stressed out. Seems the owners are being cheap by only having one person working at a time and that's definitely hurting their business. read more

Somisomi is a happy place. I love their simplistic interior/ ambience. Their ice creams and taiyaki are so delicious and the staff are quite courteous. Ive tried a few combinations but I'm a big fan of the Red bean tayaki combination with Ube ice cream. You can also do this combination as a Ahbong. Enjoy. Why is service soooo slow here?! I usually come weekday afternoons because my daughter is always craving it after school. They always only have one worker and they are extremely slow. It takes 10-15 minutes just to get some taiyaki. I don't understand why they don't make it when you order since it takes so long. They can do icecream and other orders in the meantime. Seems like they only have one oven on at a time too. Management needs to hire more workers! Plus the workers don't really replace their gloves. Even after touching money and using the bathroom!!! I stopped in while waiting for a takeout order in the same plaza. I didn't realize it was self-order at the counter, so I waited around for a bit at first. The employee was friendly and helpful when I had a question about the menu. There aren't any chairs inside, which isn't ideal if you're waiting for your order or hoping to enjoy your dessert there. Service here was super friendly, and quick too! My boyfriend had never had taiyaki before and he got to try it here, he liked it! Lots of customization available here and it's pretty affordable I'd say, for soft serve that you customize. Many toppings to choose from, swirled flavors together, can do taiyaki on top or below, or just soft serve. Really enjoyed the soft serve here, 10/10 would go back. There's some standing area in there but nowhere to sit so we just took it to go and ate in our car. read more

Really good value for soft serve in Bellevue! They have interesting Asian flavours like banana milk. Delicious and very instagrammable. They also have a wide variety of toppings. I really love how you can add matcha powder, and other options to add that a crunch to your dessert. Service is really fast and there's lots of seating inside. Currently, we have waited 30 mins, and there has only been a few people in front of us being served. One employee working by himself. Order on touch screen as you enter. This could be a hopping place for trendy desserts, but it's a little sad inside as there is no music and we are all just staring at the employee making the food hoping it's our turn. Flavors ran out at 7pm. No Ube, Earl Grey, matcha, cookies and cream. There is only one machine working, and it was making a noise which sounded like it was on its last leg. In fact, we had the change our order as the milk was not working. 3 groups left during our waiting period. Hopefully the owner of this establishment reads the reviews and hire more people. The worker behind the counter was most apologetic for the delay and the issue with order. Hopefully he won't be burned out with job and will get assistance. read more

I am not a dessert or ice cream/soft serve person but because I don't eat much sugar normally, every time I consume sugar, I get so surprised how good it is haha. This was no exception. There were so many people in line waiting so I am probably not wrong in my review. Not overly sweet but yet it still packs the flavors. Taiyaki is a very nice touch. The place was clean but it didn't really have much going on. It's not really designed to be a place where you hang out. I recommend it. SomiSomi is the best of the best. I first tried SomiSomi in San Francisco a while ago when this location and the one in Southcenter opened. I told my friends about it because obviously it was new to the area and they wouldn't know much unless they're more native to California. While the Southcenter location was a bit bumpy to start, the two locations are now fantastic and are a delight each visit, even now! Not only is the soft serve here great, but the taiyaki is also one of the best. With a mochi like texture, there are crispy edges and a chewy interior alongside whatever filling you opt for. Oh and the price is great when compared to other soft serve. Also, all toppings are free (included). You already pay before so don't forget that. Though no toppings is perfectly optimal because their soft serve is delicious and the flavor shines. FYI - keep up with their weekly flavors via social media. Always get an upside down ahboong. The taiyaki for the ahboong isn't as mochi-like, but the overall experience is dreamy. Crispy taiyaki with a hint of filling on top of soft serve with any toppings you desire? Phenomenal. read more

SomiSomi is the best boongeoppang/taiyaki dessert place in the US, hands down. I've tried various shops across the country but nothing hits the spot like SomiSomi. The ube and matcha swirl is my favorite, and what I got this time as well, with red bean filled ahboong. The bread is pillowy with the right amount of not-too-sweet filling, and the ice cream flavors are done really well. This location was clean and spacious, but without any seating (table available). Their menu is extensive and has all the Korean food classics including seafood pancake, soondubu (stone pot tofu soup), galbi jjim (beef stew), Toppokki, bibimbap, and cold noodles (spicy and non-spicy versions). Their entrees are around $20 each, but some larger hot pot dishes (meant for 2-3 people) can be up to $70. I ordered the BULGOGI BIBIMBAP (~$24). Unfortunately they don't serve stone pot Bibimbap here, but the portions are large and beautifully presented. My dish came with plenty of fresh vegetables- pickled carrots and cucumbers, sesame bean sprouts, daikon kimchi, lettuce, and marinated black mushrooms (which I've never had in Bibimbap before but was soooo good) on top a bed of fluffy white rice! The egg was cooked perfectly over easy and the meat was marinated well too- I do wish the dish came with more meat though. They give you your typical sweet and spicy gochujang red sauce on the side as well as white vinegar and mustard sauce for added flavor. Service was fantastic and you get complimentary hot tea and ban chan (which are refillable). The ban chan included cucumber kimchi, daikon kimchi, sesame bean sprouts, kimchi, fish cake, and sesame choy. All employees were very friendly and made you feel at home. The inside is clean, but the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is that they have an Okay health rating and not a Good or Excellent health rating. Somi Somi - Soft Serve & Taiyaki Food: I've been a fan of Somi Somi for a while, but lately the quality feels like it's gone downhill. The ube soft serve used to be vibrant, rich, and distinctly purple in both flavor and color. Now, it tastes more like diluted vanilla with just a faint hint of ube and a very light purple hue--far from what it used to be. I was especially disappointed since the ube + matcha swirl was one of my favorites, but it's no longer offered. On top of that, toppings like sprinkles have noticeably been reduced, which makes the treat feel less generous for the price. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is okay, but there are some drawbacks. There isn't any indoor seating available, and there's no AC, which makes it less comfortable to enjoy your ice cream on warmer days. Service: Service was fine, but nothing stood out. Given the price point, I feel the overall experience (service, comfort, and quality) should be a bit better. Overall Experience: While I still enjoy the idea of Somi Somi and their taiyaki soft serve concept, the dilution of flavors (especially ube) and reduction in toppings have been disappointing. It also came with a mini macaron, which was visually appealing but tasted too much like toothpaste, unfortunately. I also tried their matcha soft serve, which was pleasantly creamy without being too sweet. The matcha flavor was authentic, earthy and not overpowering. I don't review often and usually it's good reviews. But I've never had such a bad customer service experience. Especially for something as simple as getting ice cream. Nadia had the worst attitude when taking our order. Super impatient and rude to my 10 year old daughter who was already nervous about ordering. We've been here before and had plenty of good experiences but I've never met someone before who looked she so clearly hated her job and reflected that onto her customers. Ordered an upside down ahboong with matcha and cookies and cream soft serve and custard filling. I ended up adding oreo crumbs, fruity pebbles, and a couple of other things. I shared it with two other friends and they said there was just too many flavors at once. I thought it was fine. I like the customizable part of it.
