Honey bun matcha and iced spring fling matcha
Michelle S.

I've come to this location on two separate occasions, both of which were sadly disappointing. First time, I ordered the popular tunacado sandwich. It was pretty good. I did enjoy the bread. However, I felt that paying $13 for a sandwich I could easily make at home was not worth it. I came back a second time because I've only heard positive reviews of their matcha drinks. I ordered the honey bun matcha latte, and my sister got the spring fling matcha. I noticed that while the workers made our matchas, they were using a PREMADE matcha mixture from a plastic container. The taste of our matchas reflected that.

Trust Your Gut Smoothie

So glad that Joe & the Juice has made a home in Bellevue as I've been a fan of Joe & the Juice when first trying it in Europe. It's a solid spot for healthier options as it's known for their smoothies, juices, lighter fare and wholesome ingredients. I'm a fan. I visited Joe & the Juice at Bell Square, which is where this location is, on the bottom level of what used to be Starbucks. When I visited on a weekday, the place wasn't too busy, but there were patrons inside with their items, and a few people getting takeout. There were a few tables for dining in, but not many. I ordered the Trust Your Gut smoothie, which is made with kefir, fiber powder, strawberries, beetroot, banana, dates and sprout milk. It was a great smoothie, which was what I needed as I had an upset stomach, so it did the trick. Plus, I loved that the smoothie had ingredients that are wholesome and recognizable - not some scientific crap that's artificially produced. I need to come back to try the viral tunacado as I've seen so many people rave about this sandwich and attempt to copycat this one, in addition to several other drinks that I have my eye on. Glad to know there's a location nearby. Welcome to Bellevue, Joe & the Juice!

Beets & Berries, and Iron Man
Kait D.

My little sister and I were super excited to check out this new Joe & the Juice location, and from the moment we stepped into the store I was totally obsessed with the aesthetic decor and welcoming staff. Even though we waited in line for about ten minutes, I was so fascinated by the interior decorating and it gave me time to look at their huge menu. The staff were super kind and the woman who took my order was patient with all my questions and substitutions. I love how customisable their drinks are, and how accomodating the staff is about food allergies! I ordered the Beets + Berries smoothie with oat milk and without the banana and honestly I kind of hated it. They told me beforehand that they were out of date puree and I foolishly thought I'd get the smoothie anyway, but I think it definitely benefits from the added sweetness. The oat flavour was super overpowering contributing to a heavy drink experience. I also didn't love the seeds, but I love strawberries so that's on me. My little sister was smarter and changed her order to an Iron Man when she heard they were out of date puree. She loved her juice and honestly, I'm kind of jealous I didn't get the same thing. I'm so glad there's now a Joe & the Juice now at the mall, my little sister and I are so excited to come back here!!

Spicy Tuna Sandwich
Chantal T.

Staff was nice and we beat the line on a Saturday afternoon! We got the Trust Your Gut smoothie, Iced Oat Spring Fling Matcha Latte, Tunacado sandwich, and Spicy tuna sandwich. I wasn't that impressed by the smoothie and made a mistake with the Spicy tuna sandwich, but I loved the Iced Oat Spring Fling and think their matcha is great! Tunacado is their most famous for a reason but I'm not sure if I would get a sandwich again since I don't really like the hard bread texture.

Trust your gut

I love the Trust Your Gut smoothie--the combination of berries, beetroot, and dates is perfect. I'm also so happy there's finally a location closer to my area. My gut definitely feels cleaner after drinking it. I also love their Tunacado sandwich and can't wait to come back and try more items. Definitely on the pricier side but it's worth every penny.

i tried the tunacado for the first time and it was pretty okay -- definitely expecting a lot more. there wasn't a lot of filling and i feel like it could've used more. also a little lackluster? it could've had more pesto/seasoning in general. i know their whole spiel is the thin bread, but it was more like a cracker. will continue making tuna salad sandwiches at home.

The Steak sandwich
Vi N.

My first experience here, I'd say it's basic and simple. The flavors of the sandwich was good, the type of bread, pickle & sauce stood out the most. Now the portion of the steak is lacking. I felt like each bite I took, it had no outstanding taste of steak because of how thin it is. If I'm paying nearly $16 for a sandwich I expect it to be more meat in it or even a thicker cut than what I had. The photo I included of the sandwich was the best I got. It was only one layer of the thin cut meat and it didn't fully cover the sandwich. The tomato being the thickest layer should say enough on the portioning. Now the juice it was very refreshing, I just didn't enjoy the layer of foam on top though. I would come back but if it's still lacking protein portion, then I'm assuming this sandwich is on the "lighter" side of sandwiches. Total was $29 for the juice & drink before tip.

Tunacado and green shield juices
Megan G.

I came in around 1 pm on a Tuesday. When I got there, there was no line but several people waiting on their orders. I was ordering for me and a friend so I got 2 tunacados and 2 green shield juices. It was over $60 after tip which feels pretty expensive for what it was but I'm willing to pay for high quality food. The employees were friendly. It did take 15 minutes to get my juices and sandwiches which felt like a pretty long time for counter service takeout. Next time I might try to order ahead it seemed like several people did that. I drove about 20 minutes to my friend's house with my order and I was worried because tuna can make bread soggy. I was very happy that the bread didn't get soggy at all and the sandwich was delicious! We were very happy with them and want to try the spicy version next. I tried the juice as soon as I got my order, it tasted great but was lukewarm. We ended up pouring them over ice which helped. Overall we really liked it, I would like to return in a few months once they've been opened awhile to see if the speed improves.

I was afraid that the thai tea would be sweetened already and the soft serve would only overly sweeten it but if anything, letting the soft serve melt into the thai tea was what gave the drink it's sweetness (along with the marshmallow-like foam). It was so GOOD! I thoroughly enjoyed this drink, especially on those rare warm sunny days we get here in Western Washington. Dare I say that I dream about this float! The self-serve kiosks made ordering seamless with detailed descriptions of menu items. The servers were pleasant and friendly, immediately welcoming us into the storefront. It's a quaint store with outdoor seating. I will definitely be back especially with the Summer days approaching!

You order your drink at the indoor kiosk and the service is pretty quick.

Parking ended up being a bit of a walk, which had me second-guessing the decision at first--but I'm glad I stuck with it. The moment I walked in, the space felt thoughtfully designed. The flow of the café is one of the best I've experienced--open, comfortable, and easy to navigate. As soon as the door opened, the barista greeted me right away. The counter is positioned close enough that you don't feel awkward hovering like in some cafés where the bar feels miles away. It immediately felt welcoming. I visited on a weekend during a slower period, but since the café sits right next to a college, I can imagine the line spilling out the door during peak hours. At quieter times though, the layout works well--there's enough space for a couple people to wait without crowding the entrance. I ordered a cortado and an almond croissant. The croissant came warmed, and the texture was spot on: fluffy, layered, and not overly greasy. The almond filling had a really nice balance--nutty with just enough sweetness and a hint of salt to round it out. I was told the pastries are made in-house, and it definitely shows. It tasted like something made with care. The cortado itself was solid--pretty classic, nothing overly fancy. One thoughtful touch I appreciated was that it came with sparkling water, which was great for cleansing the palate. The space itself is fairly spacious and works well if you want a quiet moment to sip your coffee. That said, most of the seating is high stools, so it doesn't really feel like the type of place to settle in and study for hours. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and quality of the food. The one thing that caught me off guard was the price of the croissant at $6.50. It tasted great and I understand prices in this area tend to run higher, especially for house-made pastries--but it's a bit outside what I'd usually spend. So while I definitely think it's good, it might not become a regular stop for me simply due to location and budget. Still, a great find and a pleasant surprise during a routine coffee run. There are 3 cafes I go to on the regular for my hojicha fix: Magic Matcha, Tendon Kohaku, and Bobae in Kirkland. While I enjoy all three, Magic Matcha is my favorite. The roasted tea flavor is strong, they allow me to adjust the sweetness level, and the flavor of the drink is always consistent. I've had issues with Tendon and Bobae either changing up the brand or the roast or adding too much milk on any given day. One of my gfs loves their horchata hojicha so there's that. I tasted it and it was objectively good. I wouldn't get it only because I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon, but if I were, it would be another go-to drink.

I've been here twice, once a few years ago with my cousins, and another three days ago. The people working were attentive and quick with their service. The ambiance of the place is cute, a lot of pink and green, very instagram-worthy, and I saw a few people with friends or working on their laptop so it seems like a great place vibe-wise. To expand on my matcha critique, I found the color to be a little on the green-yellow side, which isn't the end all- be all quality indicator for matcha, but I find matcha lattes that are more rich in color tend to taste better and this tasted like a matcha drink I could make with costco matcha. I've made some decent lattes with costco matcha but once I switched to the more higher quality ones, well, it sorta refined my tastes. There isn't a lot of parking, and to be fair, a lot of people who are in downtown Bellevue are parked elsewhere else and likely just meander their way to the cafe. However, if you're coming in by car, I'd suggest parking by the apartments nearby, DO NOT park at the Chase Bank lot, even if the bank itself is closed (learned my lesson...). Overall, a 3.7-3.9. Could be better. Maybe with other additives like cold foam or strawberries, the drink is better, but I'm judging based off the basic latte.
