About five minutes later, after they had apparently consulted with a woman in the back, one of the guys finally came over and told us they would not exchange the slice because my husband had already tried it. We were all just sitting there, honestly dumbfounded. A basic level of customer service would have been to apologize and swap one slice of cake, especially when you have a whole group there to celebrate.
