    Oreo Croffle
    Jacques I.

Cafe Joy brings me joy! And it'll bring you joy the moment you step inside this cute cafe because it's always seasonally decorated to bring you good vibes, especially the photos of dogs everywhere! I'm a fan. I've visited Cafe Joy a few times, and it's been a nice experience each time. Located across from the library in a retail space of an apartment building in downtown Bellevue, getting here is easy with street parking and a bus stop right across the street. Cafe Joy has an assortment of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks, as well as treats and sandwiches. I've never had a bad drink here, and the croffles are what to try. In my most recent visit, I had the Oreo croffle, which was solid. They warm up the croffle and it was served with a buttercream and Oreos on top. What a yummy treat! I think my favorite part about Cafe Joy though is the fact that they have photos of dogs around the shop that you can find more information about as they're up for adoption! Cafe Joy's mission to rescue dogs is enough of a reason why you should visit.

Very cute cafe across the street from the Bellevue library! The sweet corn cafe is the best one I've tasted in the Seattle area! The corn cream like corn ice cream. The cafe has a few tables that would be great for studying and a few high tables for chatting. The food was average (tried the street toast).

This place should be PACKED. It's not a "hidden gem" - it's a GEM. And it's not hidden at all lol. It's right across from Bellevue Library, on a very easily located main road in Bellevue. Yes, it's unassuming on the outside (except the name - the name POPS). Get inside though and it's got a whole lot going on. *incredible sandwiches and toast. I got the "K-Street" Toast. Holy Moly this was SO GOOD. Hands down BEST SANDWICH I have had, maybe ever. Perfect pairing of toasted bread, cabbage, some ?relish?, a savory sauce, and ham. Just a touch tart, not at all spicy. Lovingly presented on a wood tray with an adorable mini container of macaroni salad and an adorable mini spoon (yes, please! mini everything works for me!) *yummy coffee and custom matcha - the strawberry matcha was popular while I was in there and I saw it handed to the customer; it was gorgeously prepared. *save dogs from Korea. The counters and walls were adorned with QR-coded images of dogs in need of rescue from Korea. Very sweet. *fun eclectic décor including a mirror you can write a message on. Support local business. Go here!

I really liked the drinks and the egg avocado toast is amazing! The barista was very helpful in choosing a drink and was patient while I deliberated. I would recommend this as it is close to the library and awesome for a quick drink or lunch while studying.

Updating my review as this place deserves 5 stars. I always have a pleasant experience here. Cafe Joy is so cute and the flowers bring me joy along with the great service! Cafe Joy is located across the street from the downtown Bellevue library making it an easy and convenient location. You can park at the library and walk over. Cafe is small and super cute. The croffles are delicious and so are the drinks! My last visit I tried the Honey Lavender Latte which was delicious!!! The barista was super kind and respectful and made an amazing drink. This cafe is super cute and I love the flowers :) Cafe Joy is amazing and a great location next to the library!!

I've been wanting to try a sweet corn latte and saw that cafe joy had one. It's only available iced which is fine. It's served with one of the lids that you can just sip from. That detail is only important because this is a drink that needs to be stirred. The first half-ish of the drink was just coffee before I had enough room to really stir it. Once I was able to, it was obvious that it had enough sweet corn syrup to sweeter that first half. It does genuinely taste like corn which is fascinating. Do I have an urge to try this particular drink again? Nope but it's a cute cafe and would definitely stop by again go try something else. My only critic for this drink is that the syrup really should be stirred with the coffee because the lid implies that you wouldn't need to.

Sweetened Iced Matcha Latte with Corn Cold Foam

This trip was not founded on joy whatsoever. HOWEVER, by the end of it, surely it was Let me explain... I'll be honest... I accidentally took the wrong turn in Seattle and took the 520 toll bridge LOL!!! I thought, eh, I'm already going to Bellevue, let's get some matcha. I chose Café Joy as I knew there would be plentiful public library parking. FWIW, I used to work in Bellevue so I know all of the best parking areas Anyway, I visited on a very sunny Saturday early afternoon. The doors were open, revealing an already pretty packed establishment. Albeit, ample room for some to study or catch up with a friend. The menu was filled with many eye-catching items. I noticed they had a corn latte, so I asked the worker if it was possible to do a that with matcha instead of coffee. He suggested I order a regular matcha latte (sweetened) and then he'd add corn cold foam. Good idea! He did a really great job making the drink-- the color itself was vibrant and the taste was refreshing... most importantly, not too sweet ~**. BTW, if you think corn in any type of drink is weird... whateva, you're missing out!! .**~ I'd definitely recommend this place-- next time it won't be on the whim of taking the wrong exit LOL!! TLDR; Helpful and accommodating staff. Tasty drinks. Parking across the street. Not sponsored.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon and had a delightful experience! Located slightly away from the bustling Bellevue center, the café benefits from ample street parking nearby and straight across the library. The space is a bit limited, and during our Sunday afternoon visit, we were fortunate to secure the last available seats. We ordered the strawberry and mango matcha. The drinks were a sweet treat. I look forward to returning to explore more of their beverage options. Cute spot!

This Café is such a cute little spot tucked right across from the Bellevue Library parking lot. The café itself is cozy, quiet, and very pet-friendly (you'll notice all the adorable puppy figures they use in their décor and ads). It's a great place to relax because people are super respectful, and the atmosphere feels calm. The barista was so kind and welcoming, taking the time to introduce me to different drinks and menu items. I ended up ordering a matcha latte with oat milk, and it was fantastic--the flavor was smooth, not too leafy or bitter, but still had that perfect matcha kick. You can really tell they put effort into how they prepare it. Parking in downtown Bellevue can usually be a hassle, but this café makes it easy--they have three short-term parking lots with free entry, which is super convenient. If you're local or just hanging out around Bellevue Square, I'd highly recommend stopping by Café Joy. Whether you're a matcha lover, a pet person, or just looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a good drink, this place is worth a visit.

I had been wanting to go here for so long! It's a quaint cafe, with limited seating but overall so cute. They even allow dogs! The barista was very friendly and quite helpful since it took us a minute to order. She even had some treats ready for our pup! I got the strawberry matcha latte and my buddy got the strawberry dalgona! The matcha was good and wasn't too bitter... the strawberry purée definitely helped it a lot. And the strawberry dalgona was a bit disappointing in taste, especially since it's a customer favorite. I felt like the strawberry purée did not compliment the dalgona, but to each their own haha.

This is a pretty cute Korean cafe in Bellevue which is great for chill vibes, a hangout, or a date. We went here on a Sunday around 12:30pm and it was not busy, a nice break from busy brunch spots. We got the sweet corn latte on recommendation of a friend, a mango matcha latte, K-street toast for something savory, and a strawberry matcha croffle for a dessert. The sweet corn latte is fairly unique and delicious. The coffee mixes quite well with the sweet corn puree below; make sure to mix it well so you won't end up drinking pure sweet corn or coffee at a given point. The mango matcha latte is solid, just a little artificial tasting from the mango syrup. The K-street toast is fairly hearty with some ham, eggs, and 2 thick slices of toast. It also comes with a potato salad. The strawberry matcha croffle is good amount of sweetness and the matcha cream is dalgona like. I liked the buttery flavor of the croffle; after all, a croffle is an intersection of a croissant and waffle.

cute cafe with street parking available. ordered an unsweetened matcha and it was unfortunately not mixed all the way with chunks of matcha in it. they do have lots of sweet treats and food too.

A cute, nice, and new cafe to try in Bellevue! Dogs are welcome which is very cool! I enjoyed the ambiance of the store. It was well decorated and organized. There's not too many seating though. We had their Strawberry Matcha which was good. Also had their Strawberry Dalgona which is known to be their popular drink. Honestly, I didn't enjoy it that much. I wouldn't recommend it. Plus strawberry and Dalgona may not go together The service was good. Server was helpful and nice. The drinks didn't take that long to make.

This was my first time at Emerald City Smoothie in ten years and my first time at the Downtown Bellevue location. The interior is fairly small with only a few tables to sit/stand at and so it's mostly a takeout place rather than a place to meet with friends. Emerald City Smoothie has a wide menu and categorize their menu into five categories based on health goals: "Boost My Immune System", "Help Me Lose Weight", "Go Green", "Bulk Me Up" and "Nourish My Body". They also have a menu just for "Boosters" which cost extra and include everything from antioxidants to bees pollen to creatine and fat burner. Lastly, they have a Secret Menu which includes Banana Creme Pie, Matcha Green Tea, Maui Paradise, Mountain Berry Blast, Orange Creamsicle, Piña Colada, and Peanut Butter Cup. I'm pretty sure their secret menu is just drinks that don't fit into the other categories (or ran out of room for), because they had these same drinks on their menu ten years ago. I ordered the MATCHA GREEN TEA (16-oz) off the secret menu. This smoothie has soy milk, matcha, non-fat milk, and whey. For $7.44 (including tax), this was pretty pricey for a "healthified" matcha Frappucinno. They obviously don't use high quality matcha as the matcha color was on the yellow side and the taste was quite diluted and bland. It mostly just tasted like sugary blended milk with little to no matcha flavor; I was honestly disappointed, but drank it anyway. My friend got her favorite NUTTY BANANA (sub vegan protein) which has banana, peanut butter, protein, and nonfat milk, which is probably what I should've gotten instead. She also ordered a PB&J and MANGO MANIA for her family members which are also supposed to be decent. Lesson learned, stick with the fruit smoothies. Service was good- the baristas are friendly and efficient and we got our drinks within 10 minutes after ordering. Overall: 2/5 for drinks, 4/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere

I've been here twice, once a few years ago with my cousins, and another three days ago. The people working were attentive and quick with their service. The ambiance of the place is cute, a lot of pink and green, very instagram-worthy, and I saw a few people with friends or working on their laptop so it seems like a great place vibe-wise. To expand on my matcha critique, I found the color to be a little on the green-yellow side, which isn't the end all- be all quality indicator for matcha, but I find matcha lattes that are more rich in color tend to taste better and this tasted like a matcha drink I could make with costco matcha. I've made some decent lattes with costco matcha but once I switched to the more higher quality ones, well, it sorta refined my tastes. There isn't a lot of parking, and to be fair, a lot of people who are in downtown Bellevue are parked elsewhere else and likely just meander their way to the cafe. However, if you're coming in by car, I'd suggest parking by the apartments nearby, DO NOT park at the Chase Bank lot, even if the bank itself is closed (learned my lesson...). Overall, a 3.7-3.9. Could be better. Maybe with other additives like cold foam or strawberries, the drink is better, but I'm judging based off the basic latte.

There were two salads listed as well. I've been here twice and both times, when I went to place my order on the iPad, the menu stated they were out of stock for the sandwich that I wanted. However, when I asked the employee, she said that was not correct. So if you see the same message when ordering, it's worth asking about it! During my first visit, I ordered the RENDANG ($14). This hot sandwich came packed with SO much meat! Very tender chunks of marinated beef tasted of coconut, curry and warm spices. The flavor had true depth and I could actually taste hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Thin spears of pickled cucumber and carrot added crunch and a perfect zing of acidity. They were refreshing and cut through the rich beef. A drizzle of Sambal Terasi (chili) aioli gave it another layer of flavor. Cilantro, mint and Thai basil were all fresh and vibrant. The bread was lightly toasted, being a little crinkly in texture without being harsh against my gums. If I could change something, I would include a couple extra slices of the cucumber to balance out the ratio of vegetables to meat, and add a bit more of the aioli. Other than that, this is a great sandwich influenced by flavors of the South Pacific. My companion got the STEAK sandwich ($15) and enjoyed it. The steak slices were thinly cut and tender as well. They do their beef right! On another occasion, I tried the PROSCIUTTO ($14), one of their cold sandwiches. The delicate layers of prosciutto were placed on top of sliced tomatoes, pickled onion and arugula, all between pressed focaccia bread. Truffle mustard was spread on both pieces of bread, which was WAY too much in my opinion. With this mustard having a stronger flavor, it overpowered the sandwich and made it too tangy, especially in combination with the pickled onions. The menu stated this should include pistachios, but I didn't notice any, and they were all out of provolone, so there was also an absence of cheese. For the prices, these sandwiches are pretty generous in size, so I consider them a good deal, especially for the Bellevue area. The ingredients are fresh and make for a fantastic lunch option. While I wasn't a huge fan of the Prosciutto sandwich, I'd definitely go back again for another Rendang!
