Mango Chewy Ball
Valerie Y.

Hui Lau Shan has such great mangos! I shared the Mango Chewy Ball w/ my partner and really enjoyed it. The mochi is a perfect texture, the mango pieces were sweet, and the mango ice was refreshing. I recommend coming here after a really heavy meal, your stomach will forgive you and be happy haha.

Black Rice Coconut Jelly Jar

After my flight this past Wednesday evening, my friend and I drove to Hui Lau Shan for late night dessert. Unfortunately, she is a hater and doesn't like mangoes, so we got two mango-free desserts. Still good, but I know HLS is known for their mango desserts. STRAWBERRY CHEWY BALL - 11.50 +1 for 6 more chewy balls Not too sweet! Lots of chewy tapioca balls and some slices of strawberries, along with vanilla? ice cream with a shaved ice base. Some of the balls were kind of hard, unfortunately. The shaved ice was a bit watery and not the most flavorful. Overall, this was a light option, but pricy for what it is. BLACK RICE COCONUT JELLY JAR - 9.90 I loved this one. The black rice texture was perfectly sticky and chewy. The coconut jelly was bouncy and firm, but not a strong coconut flavor though. Also not too sweet. I definitely would get this again and recommend it for coconut lovers. Thankful they open until 10 PM even on a Wednesday. Otherwise, I would have not had any dessert that evening!

Taro sago

My friend and I were just food hopping and this was our last stop. Dessert! Heard about their desserts and I've had similar before. I tried the Hot Taro Sago and my friend had a Mango herbal jelly mochi. You order and then find a seat. The interior and vibe was cute and chill. The order didn't take long and I think I know why. My taro sago came in a ceramic pot, which I thought would be hot. It wasn't. It was more like they threw in a lot of taro pieces, 4-5 pieces of small mochi, and poured in room temperature coconut milk sago. I was very disappointed, yet if I was going to say something it'd probably gone in the microwave. Meh, stuck with it and continued our catching up. My friend on the other hand finished everything. I think I'd get her order next time if I were to come back or anything that doesn't says "hot".

Great dessert place with refreshing flavors of mango, strawberry and others. It's the perfect dessert that isn't too heavy but instead very refreshing. I'm not a big mango person so was pleased to see they had other options including taro and coconut as well as drinks. I went for the strawberry and the rest of the group got a variety of mango ones. All very tasty. The other cool thing was the artwork on the walls. It depicts the evolution of Seattle through the decades. I'm glad I was introduced to this place, and on a last note, the staff was nice and patient, and the desserts were made very quickly.

Delicious drinks, mango desserts. Drinks are pricey at 9 a pop but desserts seem reasonable at 8 to 12. Mango dream is my favorite.

Champagne mangoes are really sweet, HLS tends to vary in quality based on location. This is one of their better ones.

501. Pomelo and Mango with Sago

This is a popular dessert chain from Hong Kong that specializes in mango and coconut desserts. I got the Pomelo and Mango Sago that was sweet and citrusy and very refreshing. I also added mochi balls that had a great chewy texture to help contrast the jelly/soup like consistency. Love this spot and definitely wanna try more of their desserts!

We were in the area and passed by this place. We loved all of them in Hong Kong so stopped by for a treat. 852. Aloe and Aloe Jelly in Watermelon Juice (5): Generally we get mango items but this was surprisingly amazing! Very refreshing and great watermelon flavor. 851. Mango and Mango Jelly in Mango Juice (4): One of our staple drinks. If you like mango, this is totally mangoed out. Egg Waffle (5): Can't go wrong with ice cream, boba, and mangoes in an egg waffle cone. This one disappeared quickly as well. Only issue was sticky tables and floors. Maybe we just got unlucky and sat in a spot before they cleaned up. Overall, we enjoyed our treats.

My first time visiting this location. It's spacious and somewhat clean, but the cashier was not friendly, and the black sesame chewy ball my friend ordered was very bad (watery bland sesame soup, lukewarm). When we asked for hot water on that cold day, we were told they don't have any. I've tried their mango drinks and desserts, mango coconut jelly and durian pancakes before, which were all pretty delicious. So based on all of my experiences combined, the desserts here deserve 3 or maybe even 4 stars, but this experience alone is far below my expectation.

If you like mango, this is the place to go. The mango was pretty fresh, and it was not too sweet. Highly recommended the mango jelly bowl. The mango with sticky rice was ok, the ones from Thai food place is better.

Mango Coconut Juice With Sago and Mango Mochi

Great Hong Kong dessert in downtown Bellevue. Mango Coconut with Sago is my favorite. Basically to go but there are a few chairs where you can dine in.

The food was delicious and service was fast! It's kind of cold inside but the ambiance of the store is cute. Highly recommend their mango sago!

The mangoes here really are fantastic. They have boxes of them and when in season, they are simply delicious. For plant-based friends like myself, they have a few vegan options. A lot of the choices are already vegetarian but for vegans, you're limited to their mango sago and a few other toppings. This dish was perfectly sweet, creamy, and refreshing after a long day of being out. The menu isn't very clear in identifying an item as 'vegan' by nature, and instead says 'can be made vegan.' Even with the naturally vegan mango and sago, a clarifying question from me raised an eyebrow and slight attitude from the worker... I get it, it's busy but it's a fair question when your menu implies that they can be MADE vegan. Gets really busy especially at night, but lines go quickly and you should be able to find a seat unless there are way too many large groups when you visit.

Or who haven't used a touchpad POS I guess - which is surprising but it happens. ...hell I work in tech and only this month used my phone to pay for a thing at a POS but I digress. Never was a priority. I've ordered there consistently. I usually get the same thing. I'm more of a no boba milk tea person. Service is consistent. Prices are decent. I guess the low reviews are people who are expecting Din Tai Fung levels from a small place in the mall? Then again I don't boba I only milk tea so what do I know. People are super picky about their balls and how they want their balls to taste. I say set your expectations on your balls and stop being a ball buster. Good grief people have gotten so artisinal about their boba balls it's like they expect each one to be flow in individually by a drone or hand selected and blessed by the Pope. Or do like I do and go for the milk tea and not worry about it. Can't go wrong with milk tea. Or maybe the low reviews are people who are over complicating their orders and expect Frank Lloyd Wright and Gordon Ramsey both to be back there assembling their bevy for $7. For what it is, and for the price, I have no complaints.

I thought I'd give this chain a try and I was very disappointed. Parking: mall garage, free. Atmosphere: no seating, long lines for ordering, waiting for your order to be completed is longer than waiting in the line (I presume it is because they fill mobile orders at the same time). Menu: posted on the back wall above the register, also a smaller menu at the beginning of the ribbon divider. Service: order and pay at the front, wait for your order to be announced, grab your own straw. Mango Sago Smoothie: I requested 30% sweetness and it was still very sweet but that wasn't the worst part--it wasn't until I reach the bottom of the cup that I saw the sago was nothing but two large coagulated clumps. It was clearly poorly made and not fresh. The mango tasted mediocre and was nothing to write home about. The boba was also very unevenly cooked and was mushy on the outside and rubbery/hard inside. I noticed this on the first sip and wasn't going to stand back in the 10 minute queue to get it remade. I'm all for bubble tea joints and I honestly thought the drinks would be better quality for a chain so large that I hear about.

This was my first time at Emerald City Smoothie in ten years and my first time at the Downtown Bellevue location. The interior is fairly small with only a few tables to sit/stand at and so it's mostly a takeout place rather than a place to meet with friends. Emerald City Smoothie has a wide menu and categorize their menu into five categories based on health goals: "Boost My Immune System", "Help Me Lose Weight", "Go Green", "Bulk Me Up" and "Nourish My Body". They also have a menu just for "Boosters" which cost extra and include everything from antioxidants to bees pollen to creatine and fat burner. Lastly, they have a Secret Menu which includes Banana Creme Pie, Matcha Green Tea, Maui Paradise, Mountain Berry Blast, Orange Creamsicle, Piña Colada, and Peanut Butter Cup. I'm pretty sure their secret menu is just drinks that don't fit into the other categories (or ran out of room for), because they had these same drinks on their menu ten years ago. I ordered the MATCHA GREEN TEA (16-oz) off the secret menu. This smoothie has soy milk, matcha, non-fat milk, and whey. For $7.44 (including tax), this was pretty pricey for a "healthified" matcha Frappucinno. They obviously don't use high quality matcha as the matcha color was on the yellow side and the taste was quite diluted and bland. It mostly just tasted like sugary blended milk with little to no matcha flavor; I was honestly disappointed, but drank it anyway. My friend got her favorite NUTTY BANANA (sub vegan protein) which has banana, peanut butter, protein, and nonfat milk, which is probably what I should've gotten instead. She also ordered a PB&J and MANGO MANIA for her family members which are also supposed to be decent. Lesson learned, stick with the fruit smoothies. Service was good- the baristas are friendly and efficient and we got our drinks within 10 minutes after ordering. Overall: 2/5 for drinks, 4/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere

The front has a ton of chiffon and crepe cakes in a display case, and there's also a bunch of cookies near the front as well. They also serve regular and specialty drinks, and my friend and I wanted to get some here. Staff here was quick with our orders. My friend got their assam boba milk tea, while I - in the best way yet - went overboard and got both their cream brûlée latte and their strawberry chiffon cake. - The creme brûlée latte was put in a cup where I couldn't see the inside of the drink, but it still tasted great despite it being late at night. Coffee is strong, and the crema has a sweet taste that blends well with the coffee itself without making the drink too bitter. - The strawberry chiffon cake was a lot even for the two of us to split but besides that it was not too sweet, and the sponge cake inside wasn't either. Outside filling tastes heavily of cheese, though. This particular cake has the face of Hello Kitty. From reviews and hearsay, I hear they have baking classes here which is really cool. I'm not much a fan of the parking situation around the area especially late at night but I love the concept and would make a trip back to have their other pastries.
