Easy to order. Drinks are decent. No indoor seating or areas to hang out so this is more of a take out kind of place. Prices and portions are decent. Love that they're open super late so you can have boba when the late night craving hits. Street parking only. Clean interior. Fast service.

Oolong Milk Tea

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #92 This is a really small Gong Cha that's pretty much takeout only since they have no seating. Out of the ten or so locations I've visited, this one is by far the most high tech. Instead of having the employees manually pour and mix drinks together as is typical fashion, this Gong Cha has a really advanced super automatic tea brewing machine in the back that seems to do everything in one - brew the tea, add the sweetener, syrups and/or creamer, and mix. All the employees need to do is add ice and the toppings. Orders are placed at two kiosks located off to the side. I found the tip options to be bizarre. For some reason they don't allow custom tips. Instead there are only buttons for 15%, 18%, 20%, or no tip. Oolong Milk Tea w/ Pearls, Large, 30% Ice, 50% Sweet ($7.25) - This drink doesn't have a very strong tea flavor at all and is instead a mostly light and creamy sweet drink. The tea flavor is very muted. Gong Cha is typically on the creamier side and this one is no exception. There's no powdery feeling or any grit in the drink, however. The sweetness at half is a tad too sweet for me but not bad overall. The boba is good but has some weaknesses. It's a smaller variety of boba, but there's a bit of variation in terms of size and some stick together into larger globs. The pearls seem to be marinated well given the stickiness on the exterior and slight sweetness. The texture otherwise has good consistency and gives an overall nice bounce. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Green Tea, Large, 30% Ice, 50% Sweet w/ Boba ($3.75) - Large iced teas are $3 due to a summer special - the promotion is still running although it's not summer anymore. We went with the green tea. Even with the same sweetness level, this one is less sweet than the oolong. The flavor of the green tea is quite nice. It's pretty generic, probably made with tea fannings, but isn't too astringent and is instead decently fragrant. The boba is otherwise the same as above. Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Gong Cha is a good addition to Capitol Hill. The drink quality is pretty consistent with other location I've visited, and while it wouldn't be my top choice in the area, if they keep running $3 promotions, it would certainly be the most cost effective and an easy revisit. Bathrooms - None customer accessible

XL Black Milk Tea w/ Pearls

Surprised it took this long for a Gong Cha in or around Seattle. Definitely one of the more well known chains and they've been going strong for a while. I've enjoyed my experiences at other locations, they're pretty fast and efficient while being consistent. Lots of positives. Two kiosks to order from and in a decent location. They also offer XL cups and have the best hours (open much later than competitors) so massive props and boost there. Black Milk Tea w/ Pearls - tasted one little piece of rock sugar, but the rest was mixed well. Boba has a consistent chew and cooked well, but doesn't necessarily have flavor. Would love marination but it hits the spot. Milk tea is light and basic, but similarly to the boba, it hits the spot especially at night. Not too tea forward or milk forward, just a nice balance.

As someone who WAS violently addicted to Gong Cha (seriously i have 100-200 yelp check ins) I thought OKAY time to go. I've never been to a grand opening for any food/drink establishment so this was pretty special for me total wait time: 2 HOURS. to the average person, probably not worth it. but don't worry apparently they're open until 4AM? did i read that right? (where was this place when I was in college ) for an opening day, i think they made the drinks well. they filled my cup with nostalgia but ofc im biased. The space is small and there isn't any seating areas, its more of a grab and go which fits my style but you've been warned! happy gong cha time

The last time I've had Gong Cha was in China at either Xiamen or Guangzhou back in 2016. I've been waiting 9 years for this place to make it to an area I can easily drive to and I pretty much got my wish this time! This was during their soft opening on a Saturday night, and is close by to several places like Bai Tong and Unicorn. There's currently no seating inside and instead there's counter seating near what appears to be the restrooms - and that's behind the kitchen where the drinks are being made. There's a nice tea aroma inside and it's very brightly lit especially at night. You can place your order at one of two kiosks, and you'll need to keep track of the name you place on your order since that's what servers will call out. I got their earl grey milk tea with 3 J's, which is essentially tapioca, herbal jelly and egg pudding all in one. This was at 50% sweetness and 50% ice levels. It's been over 9 years so I don't remember what the Gong Cha in Asia was like, to be honest. But this was a great drink to have! It was appropriately sweetened and my taste buds were not lied to, the ice levels were accurate, and having the drink as a large was perfect. It is similar to the drinks offered from the likes of Coco at Southcenter and even Macu Tea in both UW and Bellevue, but this place is a really nice addition to the Cap Hill area so I don't mind. Can't wait for their grand opening next weekend!

This is my first time trying gong c in Seattle as I have tried it in Houston and New Orleans before as well as Vietnam. This place didn't meet my expectations although my expectations were high to begin with because it is a massive chain. The Boba was hard and small with no flavor. The Matcha tasted like powder. I'm glad that they have cute cups, but probably won't come back for the taste.

Pumpkin spice milk tea

Tried the new location and the tea was pretty good. The sweetness and ice were accurate to what we ordered. My main disappointment was the lack of nondairy options. They pretty much don't have any alternatives for the milk teas. The ordering is a self serve kiosk but the servers were efficient with making and calling them out. They have some special seasonal flavors too like pumpkin spice. The space is quite small with nowhere to sit so it's just grab and go and the waiting area can get crowded. Honestly it was fine but I'd rather go to places where I can get nondairy.

Good tea but a bit small to really hang out in. The server was nice when I went during grand opening to get a peanuts cup and a bogo promotion

One visit was earlier in the morning, and the place was packed. The line was nearly out the door. The second time was later in the morning; the pastries were wiped out, and the place was still decently full of coffee drinkers. I ended up visiting the second time because of their very cool merch selection, and I regretted not buying a shirt I liked the first time. I only tried the espresso here, though they had many other tasty-sounding drinks and delicious-looking pastries. The espresso was not bitter, well-balanced, and at a great temperature. They serve it right with sparkling water on the side. Absolutely perfect! Out of all of the coffee spots in Seattle, Anchorhead Coffee is worth the visit for sure!

I wish they had more locations outside of Seattle, this place is truly soooo good. I first tried the turon matcha which I thought was good but had a mild banana flavor. I was expecting more of a caramelized flavor but I still thought it was good. The next day, I ordered the matcha einspanner. Their housemade yoka whip was so yummy and added the perfect amount of sweetness to the matcha latte.
